alright so i got a stairmaster at the end of last season and it was one of the ones with the bad adhesive, and it delaminated. i decided to not warranty it but instead peel off the topsheat and im gonna spraypaint some stuff on it. should i coat the wood with anything before i paint it? what about after, like a clear coat or something?

just so you know, the topsheet does play a small role in the flex of the board. It will be softer and easier to break without it.

anyways....

I would just paint it. If you want to seal it, it wouldnt be a bad idea, but your board should be fine without it. The core is what you need to worry about, and since even with the topsheet gone the core isnt visible, you should be fine.

Why the heck would you not warranty it?!? As some as it delams... moisture gets into the core and starts messing of the wood core. The topsheet is kind of an important part of the board (that's why they put it there) and I'm skeptical whether you can pull the topsheet off without messing up the fiberglass right under the topsheet... ontop of that, yes you would need to spray a clearcoat onto the wood, but good luck in making it a perfectly even coat so it doesn't mess up your flex...

eh, it will be a slow process.....but I have seen people ride their boards without a topsheet and still have  no incident. Personally, Im with you lonerider. i would warrenty the board and rally a new one.

i have sparied 2 boards and the best way to do it so you dont mess up your board is the just lightly sand the topsheet i mean LIGHT so the premier can bond , then just buy a premier that is for plastic/fiberglass and for outdoor use, spray that on then go to town on whatever you want to spray. then its important very important get a clear coart i used an automotive clear coat, why cuz cars are always outside right. and you'll be good.

hope this helps and good luck bro.
