they planned on making this years ago. They were going to build some indoor snow park in a cave....I dont know what happened to that idea.

Suprisingly, I found out two years ago that there is a small ski resort about 45 minutes East of Las Vegas....

How much do they charge for one day of riding btw? probably a ridiculous amount.
There are also talks about building one in Long Island, but that is probably years off.

Every time i hear about one of these things, i get kinda sad.  Or pissed. Maybe a little bit of both.

I grew up skiing and riding in the mountains, and to me that can't be seperated from riding.  Snow comes from nature, not a fucking machine.  It seems that we just get more and more ridiculous about how we try to create conditions like snow in a place like Las Vegas, in the middle of a fucking desert.

Global warming is happening because we can't manage to be reasonable with the oil we use.  Fuck, oil seems to be running out, and the price is set to go WAY up as well.

The average snowfal has been decreasing, and the seasons have been getting shorter because of our waste, yet we still keep building giant fucking refrigerators in the middle of deserts.  Am i the only one that sees the irony?

If you're going to get so damn touchy do something about it. Neglect the second law of thermodynamics and invent perpetual motion. It would save us a lot of problems.

Are you suggesting that i dynamite the indoor hill? I am doing my own thing to help stop the madness, and that includes talking to people on forums and offering an opinion that snowboarding in the desert does not always equal good karma.

I guess since you are in Japan you have never been to vegas.  Well Vegas is surrounded by mountains.  That are still snow capped in August.

the real reason why the gas prices are so high is because of places like india and china more so then america, sure the americas are the consumers of the world, but the price of oil and natural gas is so high because of programs that the government in china has setup to subsidise fuel costs for its subjects(they are subjects, not citizens after all) so people there can still afford to drive to work to make our barbys and tv sets so the GDP of the country stays up, so in actually effect its china that's fucking the prices high becuase on the consumer level they are paying pennies for fuel compared to the prices over here because the government is pretty much buying the gas for them.
as far as riding in vegas, they have the worlds largest snow dome in dubai, maybe you should go talk with some of them, or maybe the ones all across europe, this isn't just a america idea, they are just modeling it off of already built and running "resorts" all over europe and in the UAE.
as far as snowfall, that may be true in japan, but over here in Canada i know we had one of the snowest winters in a long time, we had a min 10-15 good winter storms alone over the winter here in Toronto, a place that normally see's almost no snow, thats not to say global warming isnt a problem, theres a reason i run my lawn mower off a solar panel haha

Well, the reason gas is so high is partially what you said.  China and India are buying up a shitload.  The fact is, oil production peaked a couple of years ago, and the oil-producing countries either can't, or won't pump enough to keep prices down.  If we already have peaked oil production, then the curve down is not gonna be nice and slow like the rise was, its gonna be a shit-slide cause india and China will be diping in bigger and bigger spoons into it to keep their economies going.

It just makes sense to get off the sauce.

As for indoor parks, i live in Japan and they have a shitload of them. And i talk to Japanese kids about them too, whenever it comes up.  I am talking about Las Vegas because that is what the thread id abut. If it was about Dubai. i would say the same thing.

While the production has peaked, we are still finding more and more oil fields all over the world, but the companys are doing the same thing diamond companys are doing, which is stock piling and slowly releasing the product so it seems more rare and therefore more expensive when in reality they still have a lot more to go around, this whole thing about the gulf of mexico when katrina hit opened my eyes fully becuase only about 5% of fuel in the states comes from the gulf and only one of the platforms was actually damaged, yet the prices went up a huge amount when that all happend. the reality of it is the companys are driving up the price, and then countrys like india and china are just exploding with consumerism and just dont know how to stop, North America as a whole has done what we should with the market in its current state, people are down sizing there usage of gas, oil and people are getting more involved with taking the bus and riding bikes, its awesome to see people finally doing what they should be doing, but what we do here wont even be worth anything aslong as china and india are allowed to go wild, the UN honestly needs to step in and say something, but the fact is they wont because they are a bunch of popular-only battle hounds who dont really seem to understand the route of the problem.
as far as my post about dubai i said that because some people dont know it isnt just a american idea, i was talking to someone about this not so long ago and they had no clue that these types of things existed anywhere, i knew you knew about them because we have talked about this in the past i believe!
but yah i am totally with you, the world needs less artifical thrills and more true expirences.
and sorry for another long post, this is just something im very interested in.

"Kid"? I was snowboarding Schwietzer when you were suckling your mom's mammeries.

Besides, there are a million ways to approach environmental problems.  Talking about them on the internet and passing on ideas is one.  I try to do others as well.  What would you consiter a worthwile way to be "environmental"?

yeah, but the rate of finding them is going down as well. Many of them are less than ideal as well, an require more investment/energy to tap them, which makes for pricer gas as well

but the companys are doing the same thing diamond companys are doing, which is stock piling and slowly releasing the product so it seems more rare and therefore more expensive when in reality they still have a lot more to go around, this whole thing about the gulf of mexico when katrina hit opened my eyes fully becuase only about 5% of fuel in the states comes from the gulf and only one of the platforms was actually damaged, yet the prices went up a huge amount when that all happend. the reality of it is the companys are driving up the price, and then countrys like india and china are just exploding with consumerism and just dont know how to stop, North America as a whole has done what we should with the market in its current state, people are down sizing there usage of gas, oil and people are getting more involved with taking the bus and riding bikes, its awesome to see people finally doing what they should be doing, but what we do here wont even be worth anything aslong as china and india are allowed to go wild, the UN honestly needs to step in and say something, but the fact is they wont because they are a bunch of popular-only battle hounds who dont really seem to understand the route of the problem.

run-on sentences, dude, run-on sentences... But i basically agree.  Not sure the UN can do shit, tho. As much as i would love to see world-wide carbon rationing, it ain't gona happen. So i will just wish for higher gas prices in the meantime and hope people stop wasting the shit.

as far as my post about dubai i said that because some people dont know it isnt just a american idea
