Yeah, plenty of snowboarding within 30 minutes of Salt Lake City.

I would say book now to avoid rising prices :) Thats why I live on the Westside of the Sno-Snatch (Wastash)

I had no clue that the sundance film festival was in Park City til my girlfriend mentioned it.  So we decided to go there for the next film festival, I will go snowboarding while she goes to the festival. 

 

I am just wondering: 1. where to stay that isn't crazy expensive. 2. which resorts to go to. 3. transportation in the area.

 

We aren't rich so money is a factor.  Thanks in advance.

 

oh, sundance. there's never a better time to make fun of the PIBs and hollywoodites than during sundance. so, some places are almost full even a year out.. but your best bets for lodging will come in the forms of best western, holiday inn and hampton inn. they're all located in kimball junction - about 5 miles from main street - but so much less packed and you'll actually have more possibility of eating dinner in this location than a 4-hour wait closer to town. the city-wide buses are free and there are cabs around town, but either one you choose will be packed.

the resorts won't be too bad...no one really skis/rides during the 'dance. the canyons is a great freeride mountain and a huge resort. they really improved their parks this year, too. park city mountain is a good all-around hill and it's worth checking it out for the parks. hit me up if you have any other q's.
