Okay, so this weekend is the final weekend of the season for me. Actually it was last weekend when I broke my ankel and tore three ligaments, but who's counting.

The question is what do you guys do to not go insane in the off-season? I love summer but as time rolls on I get edgy. I need my riding fix. If I wasn't injured I usually spend a lot of time on the trampoline in the summer, golfing and ultimate frisbee, and skimboarding are also pretty fun ways I normally channel my pent up snowboarding passion.

What about you?

I'm still riding till june, then I take a couple days in August to ride Hood...then the season starts back up in October so it's relatively short summers.

But for the most part, I enjoy the actual summer by hiking a lot and swimming.  Last summer I started disc golf and that's been super fun.

June riding def helps make for a short summer. I had a trip to Whistler planned to spend a couple weeks riding the glacier but this ankle situation shot that for me... Have fun at Hood. I've never been there but I've only heard good things, lucky bastard.

DPK and HATER_PLAYER have covered it all.

Living in Whistler, I actually liked summers more than winters.

Now don't go saying... "But SteveDUH, this is a SNOWBOARDING website... you can't snowboard in summer!"
Well, my good friends... You can in Whistler.
But mountain biking is also fun.
Going to the lake and giving my alien-like body a tan is also pretty fun.
My alcohol intake goes up in the summer months because scaring way hangovers with double caesars at 10am on a patio is fair game in the summer.  So when you are drunk at 11am, snowboarding is kinda out of the question for the day anyway.

Creativity is the name of the game during the on AND off season.
Winter:
You see a gnarly line in the backcountry or see a fun looking line in the park.
You get CREATIVE to see how crazy you can get.
Summer:
You're bored out of your mind and drunk ass hit at noon.
You get CREATIVE to see how crazy you can get.
I'm down with the funky Buddha flow.

I do all the above every season. No reason to hang up my board in the summer, and no reason to hang up my bikini in the winter...

Especially the beer part. You guys are all listing beer like it is summer exclusive or something. WTF!?!? ARe you all drinking hot toddies in the winter?  I do admitt, I change what kind of beer I drink to fit the season...

Probably going white water rafting this weekend.. Avi danger is too high.

Edit: Spring and summer snowboarding is more about being up in the mountains and hiking around and seeing the change of the seasons and waterfalls and a whole bunch of other gay hippy stuff I like. It's not really about the riding so much... more the adventure... and you still get sun

We have a full six  months between seasons so its a long time coming. Mid summer is okay cos its all about beach, beer, mountain biking and road trips, but the last two months is excrutiatingly slow. I ve already done the 'put on all the outawear and wear it round the house' three weeks ago, and we still have a month to wait for the mountain to open.

summer means:
time to get tat work done.
margarita mondays go into effect.
tennis season.
traveling and road trips become necessary.
then there's that whole work 50+ hours a week thing that keeps me busy....

high fives and hugs

I like to do yoga and pilates in the summer.  It is quite delightful, along while sipping on a iced tea.

Love to hit the lake and do some fishing, with beer of course in case you don't catch anything you can still wrangle up a buzz. Also,  run amuck in the desert whilst randomly shooting stuff is always fun!

I was gonna call you out with a pic of you riding last July.... can't find them. I would like to do the same area, but just a touch sooner. Or even a bit later and catch this...
(I linked this in another thread in western usa)

back to this summer...
-getting a DH bike.
-going to go kaying a few times, sea and river.
-surfing over on the washington coast.
-cliff diving at eagle falls on the skykomish river. I might man up and do something over 15'.
-going to see the mariners vs detroit baseball game.
-went and seen some roman art from the louvre at SAM.
-bumpershoot, folk life and hemp fest.
-going to the rain forest on the oly pennisula.
-hiking, hiking, hikng, maybe build a hut somewhere secret.
- BC camping, probably in the alpine lakes wildy(north cascades)
-snowboard something big once a month. ie helen's, adam's, hood.
-clamming and salmon fishing
-brewing beer
-carving granite
-my one gear head sport left.. offroading in my s-10
-palying hockey, ice, flor, or roller.
-maybe take up rock climbing if I can find the time

I don't want people to get the idea I am one dimensional and snowboard all summer. maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks during the off season.

Aside from the Bonfires, Boobs and Beer that fuel me year round, I was thinking about pulling the same tricks as last year.
Travel around so I dont have to hang up the boots too early.
When I get back, work is a must, need money to $4.00 a gallon my way to the mountain come season. Prob pull doubles.
Tweek my Camaro a bit more. Might buy another junker and fix it up. Thinking oldy Cadillac. 60-61 drop top if I can get a hold of one.
Try not to sit too still.
Right around fall, fever hits an I get a bit stir crazy.
Watching weather reports with hopes and dreams.
Something very few people truly understand.

Greens are for parking lots.
