I would like to look into getting a decent camera that is fairly easy to use as it will be my first video camera. I will just be filming me and a few friends, maybe eventually making a sponsor me video. I don't want to pay any outrageous price for a camera i may end up replacing in a few years. Right now I would say nothing over about $750.

thanks for the help

chek out some of the HD camcorders. they have really lowerd the prices on them and they are really worth the extra 50 or 100 bucks. you can get one for like 800-900.

HD camcorders are useless unless you have HD editing software
and It takes up allot more memory on your computer or hdd
I sugest finding a mini DV, 3cc camera

i'm looking for the same thing, gonna up my price a bit though to say....1000.  I was taking a look at the HV20 and it does look pretty sweet.    I've got a macbook, do you guys have any editing programs you'd recommend that you can get for free other than the standard imovie?

Check out the VholdR camcorder. I bought one of these bad boys after my ATC2K camera broke down and I've had nothing but good words for the VholdR since. The design is slick, tiny and perfect to attach to a helmet. Super durable; Ive been in some hairy situations with this camera, but its shockproof design helped me create some smooth videos. The video quality is TV-quality and the usability is simple. And the price is just right, at around $330, last time I checked on Amazon. Check out this camera. I think their website is www.vholdr.com

I'd go with a Canon HV30.  Really solid camera
