hey guys,
im looking for a good camera/video recorder to take good, quality pictures of me and my friends just hitting rails, jumps, and some pow.
i dont want anything bulky, because i have to ride with it
so what would camera/video recorder do you guys think would take excellent quality photos & video, but still be compact?
im looking to have both, but dont want to but two different products

$0-350 

hahah im new to the photo aspect of snowboarding

canon optura 10 or 20. 8 hour battery. baby death lense. custom handle that clips into the bottom. u can get canons off ebay for lik 2 bills with warranties

The Nikon D200 or 300 is the way to go dude. It's a bit pricey at times but that's the one the pros use!

He said he wanted video and photo and as far as I know the Canon 5D is Mark II is the only DSLR that can do that.

nope, one of the new nikons can do it as well.  i can't remember the model though

ahahah this thread is amazing, first off he asked for price range of up to 350, yet you are saying pick up a d200? what the fuck are you on, even a d50 just body wont be in his price range, get a grip.
You arnt going to find a camera that does good video and good stills, you can find a still camera that does a semi ok video, or a video camera with semi ok stills, but you wont find anything that does very well at both.
personally id say for what you want, just try and find a simple point and shoot, something like a lumix would do you fine.
If you want to get into real photography you really need to up the price range a bit, and downplay the pocketablity of the camera, so over all id say your best bet would be with a simple point and shoot, just make sure it has a high mega-pixel value and good optical zoom is always a good thing if you plan on being a bit away from shots.
