I tried to refrain from posting this, but can't find a definitive answer.
I'm trying to figure out exactly what board I want for next season, since my Morrow Fury has seen better days.

A little bit of background - I consider myself an intermediate rider, I can do 180's, some rails, boxes, presses etc. And really want to just focus on park from now on.
I am about 5 ft 10, and weigh about 190 lbs, boot size 12, what do you think of the Artifact (156) for me?
I don't want to go out and buy a nice board and end up snapping it because I'm too heavy, but then again I don't want a gigantic board with no flex. Would this be a problem for me with this board? If you think the Artifact is a big no, what kind of boards would you recommend?

I know I'm going to get some great info, so thanks.

hey man
it depends on what you really wanna focus on
artifact is a more rail oriented board, with super pressability
if you want to do more jumps, you might want to go with a more stable board
and you should be fine with a 156...im 150lbs and ride a 154, but should be riding a 151 for jibs and such

With a size 12 you need something wider than the artifact.  Look at the machine, but if you're worried about snapping a noodle look at something a bit beefier then.

Thanks for the replies guys,
I'm not really worried about snapping it, I just don't want to. If that makes sense lol. The Machine looks like it's going to fit the bill since I do have pretty big feet. What are some other boards that are like the Machine?

i would look at a 158/159 for your weight most rome boards are made for people 160-130 at a 156

The Machine 157 is the way to go.  I have an Artifact 156 and am about your size but with smaller feet.  The board is fun just for park... but you will feel every little bump in the snow.. which is kind of fun actually.  The board is also a lot lighter than the higher end boards.  Super pressable, easy to ollie due to it's flex.. doesn't have an amazing ton of pop, but I ollie better on a softer board for some reason.. probably my form.  I have an Agent/Headroom so for park days, the artifact is a nice changeup.

Not if you're riding it for park, if you're fully focussing on park riding with a deck, you can go shorter. The size reccomendations aren't the "anything heavier will bust this", they're more of an optimal performance suggestion. If you're a newb focus on the reccomended range, but number on paper are no substitute for what feels right once you know what you're doing.
I'm 5'11" and 185lbs and ride a 153 in the park and a 159 in pow. On paper I should be in the 162-166 range but I vastly prefer the feeling of a shorter board so I go with what feels right (I put in 100+ days of riding a year and have yet to bust a board by being too big, the only ones I've busted were mangled by rails).
I wish I was little bit taller, I wish I was a baller,
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a six-four Impala

After doing a little more research I'm really not worried about breaking a board anymore.. They seem extremely well made.

So now, what are some boards that are like the Rome Machine (specifically a nice park board that's for wide feet)? I want to keep my options open and keep looking around :)

He didn't have any heel/toe drag problems?  I have Van's size 12 boots if that makes a difference.

not at all. he did max it out at 26" and his angles at 15/-15. hes stupid for wide stances. so if u ride ur stance anywhere like that, try it out.

If the waist width (don't even know if this is the right measurement) is 252 on my current board (159 Morrow Fury) and I don't have problems with toe drag, is it safe to say I'll fit on a 156 Artifact which is also a 252 waist width? Is that even the right measurement for the width of the board.. lol

Thanks!

you should be alright. A size 12 on a 25.2 cm width board is pushing it to having too much toe drag, but if you are doing alright with that now, then you will be fine with the Artifact, if thats what you really want. Any board like that is going to be a huge step above the Morrow

This board is on it's last limb, it won't last another season. Hence the reason I'm getting a new one. I've sent it to hell and back, haven't noticed any problems with toe/heel drag.

Thanks for reassuring me Agent-G.. Now just need those darn taxes to come in :)
