coming up on the end of the year so i thought i'd make a thread letting you know about some closings. Crystal Ridge is closed.  Sunburst is closed.  Cascade Mountain is open until Sunday, March 16th and then is closing. Alpine Valley is open as long as "weather permits" or at least thats what their site says...if anyone else has anything just post it up. im super bummed that the season is coming to an end...

I've been nearly on the edge of tears for the last week.  A friend of mine at DH told me that they are done a the end of March.

Will anyone shed a tear with me?  Besides being out for the season I have a hard time seeing the season end at all..

I need to seriously move to Alaska, or at least travel all over the world to hit snow where it's at

Haha good one

Don't have to go that far, man. Mt. Hood is always open.

I asked Wilmot today and they said they'll keep open as long as there's snow on the hill. They're gonna try to stay open through the holidays at least. I'm guessing another 1-2 weeks. This has definitely been a good year for snow.

theres no denying that it hasnt been a good year for snow. the only reason i wouldnt go to wilmot is there prices. i looked at the prices of their lift tickets and i dont think i could spend that much for such a small hill...am i wrong in thinking that way?

$23 on weeknights with a student ID (3-11pm) isn't bad. They're doing 2 for 1 until the end of the season now Mon-Fri which comes out to $15/person.

I'm not sayin' it's a great hill, but for me it's less than an hour away and they're open late which makes a season pass worth having. In that case lift ticket prices aren't an issue.

I remember back in high school their lift tickets were $19 for students and my friends and I would go there after class and ride for 5-6 hours all for less than $20.

A buddy messaged me this morning to let me know that yesterday was Alpine's last day. Add them to the closed list.

Afton Alps is open at least until 3/29/08 for Food-Shelf days (half price tickets with a canned good donation).

They may be open longer if enough people keep going....or if their energy credits don't run out.

Ripley will probably be open till the weekend of the 5th and then hiking season starts.  the jumps will be hittable for at least a week after that.  rails will be good for a couple more.  If it stays around 40 during the day we will be able to hike longer.

Per Devil's Head's website:

Powder Skiing in March!  The snow just keeps coming...  Another 8 inches arrived in the last 72 hours.  The conditions of the slopes are fantastic.  Come and enjoy the fresh pow!

Due to the amazing snow conditions, Devil's Head Resort will be extending the ski season through April 6, 2008.

Yeah, I was riding an O-Matic Awesome 159 on Saturday.  Sorry that I didn't hear you ask about it.  I don't ride with headphones, I just have bad ears sometimes.  I sometimes have to ask people to repeat what they said even when they are just a few feet away.  *shrug*

As for the Awesome, I like it so far especially b/c it was so cheap.  The topsheet bulges out near the contact points so that it has a weird feeling on edge according to some people.  They suggest shaving it down.  I didn't experience anything weird the past two weekends until I bit it during the approach to one of the jumps and also when flatbasing near the lodge on Saturday.  The edge seemed to want to engage when I didn't want it to.  I may try shaving it down.  Some people also put a bevel on theirs, but I don't plan on hitting many rails and such so I won't do that.

I have an Ext-remo 157 that I've ridden a few times.  Haven't really done much on it except ride the groomers.  May try jumping on it, but the Awesome was working good for me.  I also picked up a brand new Wig-Out 158 that I may just sell.  Got a little carried away with all the sales.

Cris, if you sell that board I may be interested. Dunno anything about it, but I want to get a longer board for powder days out west. I'll most likely get a Sined board, but might check out some other boards too

Just checked the DH website.  They are now closed for the season.  Guess I missed my chance for one last day this past weekend.
