Boarding alone last night at the local hill, had a nice ride up the lift with an attractive lady skier, she road bikes and mountain bikes like I do, things were going well. At the end of the lift, I said I'm going left, (I was on the left side of the chair) she said she was too. I meant going left at the bottom of the lift hill, she meant going left 6' after her arse was off the chair!!! She skied across the front of my board and kept going, I landed in a slow heap. She did look back and ask if I was ok but by the time I said "I'm ok" I think she was well out of hearing distance.
Anyways I have a nice souvenir of the occasion, a big gouge on the top edge of my board.
Can't they do something about these reckless skiers on our hills?????

Maybe the conversation on the way up the lift didn't go as well as you thought?

I kinda thought the conversation might continue after the lift.  Maybe she was just trying to get close and misjudged the distance a little......

well if the conversation went well then maybe she just fucked up and then was to embarrassed to stop, so just kept going.  She then proceeded to cry herself to sleep cause she screwed up an opportunity to get to know a great guy cause she made a simple mistake on the hill.  geebus you sure are insensitive, you should track her down and apologize asap!
Hope:
everything will be okay in the end.
if it is not okay, then it is not the end.

SKATW, that's what I was thinking, thanks for the suggestion!   I was gonna go today and look for her so I could appologize for being insensitive and then accept her apology for skiing carelessly, but the weather is crap and my back is sore from playing 3 games on Saturday in a hockey tournament.  She'll have to wait until Wednesday night !

i reckon the skier just wanted to test you, to see you in the best of times and the worst.

in any event, that'll teach you to fraternise with the enemy!

Maybe I'm the only one...but when preparing to get off the lift and discussing which direction everyone is going, that would mean immediately after standing up off the chair...this should be fairly common knowledge.  Sounds like you're the reckless snowboarder - the skier chick was in the right...err left...whatever.

You get off this lift on a big mpund,  I always thought you wait unitl you're off the steep part,(about 30' from the chair) then turn.  My new skiing friend turned about 6' away from the chair.  I was still congratulating myself for not falling off the chair, hadn't even thought of making the turn yet....

^^^Meh, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Things happen. It's all in the name of fun. What I would worry about is NOT calling it boarding anymore. Only deusche bags and soccer moms call snowboarding, "boarding"... and I'm guessin' you're not a soccer mom.

I still call it skiing. There needs to be a universal name so that when people ask"what are you guys doing this weekend?" I don't have to say"we are going skiing and snowboarding"...

ANd yeah... damn skiers. The one I am banging tore her mcl's last weekend.. if she was on a board, she wouldn't have had that problem.

Just say "ridin"... We're ridin' this weekend. That's all that needs to be said. Then your neither a deusche bag or a soccer mom. Boarding just sounds like your don't really snowboard, but you want to sound like your cool. It's a buzz word. Like calling the internet, "the net".

Ale, we are ridin' this weekend. Where have you been lately? Hittin' Stevens on Sat. Might be a good day. The park has been nice.

what happen's when you tell your motorcycle friends you are going ridin? Or how about your equestrian workmates? ridin can mean alot of differant things to differant people. But yeah, I say I am going ridin to those who understand what I am talking about, and skiing to the clueless people I don't feel like explaining things to.

I have been around... ridin! I have been ridin steven's on fridays and mondays. Haven't been at steven's on the weekends, it's just been SOOOO busy. Last weekend I went splitboarding(need a better word for that too) up at chair peak in the alpy BC, and Baker the weekend before. Most likely going to baker again this weekend.

Park has been pretty sweet! Although I still don't have my park pass. richard got his park pass pulled and lift pass clipped for ducking the rope to go into the half pipe... funny shit. Here's a picture of him on prez day...

second hit in the park

And to keep it on topic, we where riding brooks with his 10 year old Cedar teaching her to ski.... she is a bit scared because she got into a pretty bad collision with a damn snowboarder 2 weeks ago.. got a pretty nice fat lip and concussion.... but she isn't hatin.

One of the attractions of SNOWboarding for us more mature people is the opportunity to use language that non-SNOWboarders don't understand.

Paolo's hockey fan cred is now under suspect for not catching that!! That's always the first thing I think of when I hear 'boarding'. It does sound like a fun though. I think I AM going to go boardin today(whilst shopping with the old lady)..

Josh,

I think I will just say ridin no matter what I am doing... yep, going ridin today.... the chair at the licensing office. Lost my wallet the other day.

Nyla is going ridin monday..... the suffocating tube of clostraphobia otherwise known as the MRI. Doc thinks she may have done something not good to her meniscus.... damn skier.

That's funny. I generally say I'm going 'skiing'...since I think of skiing as the verb for people that like to slide down the hill. Some are alpiners, some telemarkers and still others snowboarders. Calling snowboarding 'going skiing' though always confuses folks who don't really have an open mind or don't know snow very well. Then I have to specify and say 'snowboarding'...and then I feel like a pompous elitist cause I don't 'ski'...I 'snowboard'. Yawn. Everyone is just sliding down the hill enjoying themselves.

I can"t say I'm goin ridin" because when I"m not snowboarding, I'm biking. My other passtime is ridin' the pine @ hockey.   I don't want people to get too confused.
I say I'm goin' boarding, then if they ask , it's SNOWboarding.
