Hi,
I'm Becki. I posted this in the 20 something forum and haven't gotten any responses yet so I figured I would try it in here and see if anyone can help me.   I was wondering if anyone has ever been to any of the summer snowboard camps at Whistler?  I just got back from Whistler and absolutely loved it, and would like to go to one of the summer camps, but there are couple different ones and I'm having a hard time choosing which one would be best for me.  I am 27 and am an intermediate freestyle rider.  I don't mind being around kids, but I would like to ride with adults and more importantly have some adults to hang out with in the evenings.  I think I am leaning towards the Glacier Summer Snowboard Camp, but I would appreciate any comments on any of the camps you can give me.

I dunno bout Whistler, but HCSC at Hood in the summer used to be alot of fun. I Haven't been back in about 13 years,  so im sure it has changed alot, but we used to ride from like 9 to 2 when it gets to slushy, then skate and party your ass off till whenever. There was NO structure at all off the hill. Very fun times. Also being a pro at the time didnt matter(no, not me), the pros were your bros. Now that they are all young little ego having dicks, that part of camp im sure is gone.

Oh, and also there were alot of adults there.

I've been to WSSC in Whistler the last two years.  I highly recommend it.  It's the best bang for your buck.  I've done the five day adult camp for around $1000.00 USD.  This price included three days of coaching (they have GREAT coaches by the way), lodging, breakfast, lunch on the glacier, dinner, and off hill activities (bungee jumping, biking, partying, etc.)  Although they don't say it, they paid for most of my drinks as well (a big plus ).  The people are great too.  Depending on cash flow, I will go for a third year in a row.  Definitely a good time to be had by all.

Thanks for the review!  That was the other camp I was looking at, but I got the impression that there were not a lot of adults there.  Did you have a problem finding adults to ride with, or did you just ride with the kids during the day and party with the coaches at night?

The first year I went there where six adults in my session.  Last year there where 10.  So I had plenty of people to hang with (not just for riding but for everything else).  Plus, the staff was very stoked to have adults to hang with as well.  After all, its really hard to fully enjoy the Whistler night life with a 14 year old.  The typical day would consist of us having breakfast and then heading up the glacier for our session. We'll come back down around three and head right to Merlin's at the bottom of the lift to have a beers.  Then head back to the hotel to shower, change and head of the off hill activity (bungee jumping, biking, etc.)  or you skip that and chill in the hot tub.  After all of that we would hit a club or go out for drinks or hang out at the sushi bar or whatever you want to do.  All of this is done with adults.  With the exception of the off hill activity, you never have to interact with any kids if you chose not to.

So, did you end up going to Whistler for a camp, or do you have a week booked? I'm interested in going next summer so let a brother know how it was. I'm curious too about if it'll be all riding with 16-year-olds or if there's a mixed age range. I mean, I'll ride with anyone who can push me if they're cool, I don't care too much about age but at night it's def better to have some peeps to hang with that are in the same age range.
