during that president day dump at Mt. Rose, landed my ass square on some ice real good.  Adrenalyn probably kept me from thinking much of it at the time, but all those muscles started siezing up on me in a bout an hour (...kept riding anyhow because the shuttle wasn't leaving for another 3 hours).  Could barely walk that night.

all my lower back and butt muscles were all spasming and sharp pains for almost a month after...might have been some bone bruising also, but don't think there's any fractures.  Found a boiling hot shower aimed at that region really helped...a massage would have been totally helpful, too.  All that pain is pretty much gone, but those muscles still get a little too tight after a full day of riding.

I'm seeing a sports injury specialist on Thursday for a possible fractured right foot. I admit to being a stereotypical male in that I didn't let on to how much it hurt until now because the season's almost over. I didn't want to take the risk in January of having the doc tell me I had to stay off it.

I don't know that it's fractured. My wife, an APRN, says the pain I'm reporting is consistent with a hairlline fracture. I'm thinking positive, that it's just bruised and abused after an excellent winter (which is not quite over). I have to think that way...I've already paid for a condo at Stowe the weekend after next!

None are boarding injuries, but I've blown out both ACLs, torn a rotator cuff + dislocated shoulder, two broken arms.

scrapes, bruises, etc.

Why is it that accident prone people are drawn to outdoor sports?

When I was 19, I had a compound Tibia Fracture and ended my ankle for the most part.. and also had some acl reconstruction afterwards..

Then I started Snowboarding..  Crazy eh? I know.. BUt now its like 14 years later,  and I have fallen a few times and hut my tailbone and i also tried to ride without gloves once.. (never do that) and sprained my ankle and broke the screw from the hardware installed after the fracture..  All in all, everything turned out ok.. I had the hardware removed and then they did the acl reconstruction.. And after that I rode even more..

Now im 33, and I guess i can feel it.. My leg gets tired.. and I wear a supportive brace for my knee when i ride.. just for added protection.. But as long as i ride conservatively Im fine.. Even on Shirley Lake Express at Squaw Valley.

So you never know.. But my doctor always told me that its going to hurt, nothing he can do about that, but the more you work it out the less it will hurt overall and if you dont use it your going to loose it and the strgnth will decline.. So i work hard to walk or run or go to the gym just to stay active.  Im 33, but I can still hold my own.. even after tramatic Injury..

Don't let it slow you down!.

Not hurt lately, but I still hurt from a broken foot skating like 8 years ago. A piece of bone broke off and floats around, gets irritated and hurts, mostly when it rains. My right shoulder broke last season, 6 days into a season pass in VT, the big pass too.......I was soo pissed, and im still pissed everytime I lift something. The liggy tore, and the bone cracked.....still hurts. Over the summer I split open my shin skatin, 6 stitches, the most recent, and least painful injury.
Introspection will get you no where, but show you everything.

P4, that's what maturity and injuries bring you - an appreciation for riding conservatively!  I missed last winter with my broken ankle, I don't plan on trying any funny stuff this year.  Riding conservatively is better than not riding at all!!
