Let's move this to Europe forum, I think you'll get a better response there.
If there is a more pointless place to argue than the web...
I don't know about it.

Better, but not great.  Never ridden in Sweden, never really taken my fancy, especially with what the Alps has to offer.

I've been to Åre many times, as I used to live in Trondheim.

It's a huge resort by nordic standards, and has something to offer pretty much regardless of what you're after. The park (when it's finished) is great, there's a good selection of groomers and if you know where to go (and how to get back!) there's great offpiste both in forest and above the treeline. Bring a map so you have a basic idea of where you will end up before blindly following tracks into powder though, as there are some nasty drops and avalance-prone areas and you might be following someone who had a car waiting at the end of their line.

Åre has student-weeks sometime in jan/feb when there are tons and tons of people there and the partying gets pretty wild. I think it lasts for 2-3 weeks and you'll need to be lucky to score good and cheap accomodation while that is on.
