Wow... they still didn't fix the "if you delete an account... it deletes topics/posts."  SBcom-1 had that problem.

Sorry - who knows what other content might be missing.  Blame me.

Oh well.  It's me - just as a member.

Who is this?  What have you done with Mike?

So what, three superhero names in the last 3 years?  You're like a rotating member of the X-Men...

Yea.  I had no clue that they had the same problem with this iteration of deleting posts once you delete an ID.  I'd have thought that they figured out the havoc it left with SBcom1 and stopped doing that.  But not - and I apologize.  BUT... I really didn't want to pretend to care anymore about what anyone said/did on this site.  The only thing I do now is check in with friends and see if there are any other SB addicts in my area.

To see folks emotional about things and almost getting sucked in to it again... been there.  No desire to care that much about a web site that I think is loosing it's relevance, not gaining.  So we'll leave it to killclimbz, konk, and others to pump life into it.  For me - an example...  to have a huge "politiks" section and no ability to thrash the details of SNOWBOARDING in a instructors is boring.  If I wanna get into politics - I'll go to littlegreenfootballs, moveon.org... etc.  So it wasn't the latest "problem" at all.  I really only care about friends - nothing about the mode.

BUT I do think if I'm going to be on here - I can pay the provider their due... so I just paid my own Core today.

Again - sorry that my act of switching IDs deleted alot of content - but I had no idea they were what I'd have the opinion is technically immaturely indexed together in the database... but that's what happened. (They could be indexed - but static.)

I deleted swmike ON PURPOSE.  I just wasn't aware that everything I did under that ID would be deleted.  That used to happen under the old software but hadn't actually seen it with SBcom-2.  And in real life, in my world anyway, you never delete content because a user deletes their account.  But hey - whatever.

Yea, we used to have the instructor's stuff.  It worked.  It got heated... but on "snowboard.com" you'd expect zealots.  What they have tried is to have a "pro" section and as yet have not lured even one in there.  I'd much prefer to argue that than if George Tenet lied in his book!

I just think in pursuing the next "myspace" that we've diluted being "the" source for snowboarding.  But I do wish them well.  And - as you know - the newbies aren't coming through here like they used too.  Perhaps it was my heavy-handed oversight of 30+.... 8-)  In any case - I just want to come in and chat with people like you - NOT police it.  (Hey Paolo... where are ya!?)

So wait a minute. Are you saying your no longer a mod because the account got deleted? Or did you delete it intently because you no longer want to be a mod and your just starting fresh...

I do fully agree with you that an instructor forum would be awesome. Just the knowledge in their could be great. I dont see why they never created one particularly because it involves snowboarding. Plus that would add credability to this site which to me could attract more new members. It doesnt matter to me though as long as your here.

I tend to disaggree with you on the site closing down in 10 years if the old timers go.  Rockclimbing.com has been around for twice as long (one of the oldest sport forums actually) and has been through this sort of thing tons.  They've pretty much lost the entire Colorado contingent and have more members than ever.  The only way snowboard.com dies is if snowboarding dies.

Just remember the saying.

I don't want to put an epitaph on anything - it can grow/shrink as a handful of folks pick it up.  But it is unlikely to pick up much with so many other forums out there  now that weren't there 2 years ago.  I started a BBS for the airline industry some 15 years ago when I worked for ARINC and have been watching the "online" communities since then.  The "next generation" is usually only 2-3 years right now.   They've got to come up with something that will get a kid going to his high school to tell his friends about their cool site... that was definitely true a few years ago.  Today - you can specify a sport in myspace and enjoy that and everything else with your friends there.  I'd encourage the owners here to drag/pay/beg companies, resorts, pros, and instructors into some more active participation - that isn't locked/blocked from the regular members.  It's the only advantage I personally can think of in 2007.  Some will read this and have an emotional reaction - how dare I?  Trends in this industry are incredibly volatile and you must keep up with content.  Anyone can now create awesome graphics, but it takes radical content to get kids, middle age, and even us old farts to join and bookmark a site.

I don't know Joe (or whom ever 'owns' this site)...or his/their plans...but not every place needs to be MySpace. I'm guessing he/they are doing OK with the Ad revenue...hopefully keeps him/them in servers and beer money. If anything it'll look good on a resume if the place does fold...but I'm not betting on that one.

Fads come and go but there will always be people that identify with what ever image they concieve/the media dictates a 'snowboarder' is...and some people will always gravtitate to that percieved image. To bad it seems that it's mostly teenagers/young twenty somethings that spend to much time on the net arguing/chatting/what evering then actually riding and getting 'it' done. Image is everything to *a lot* of people. And the image of 'snowboarding' will sell for awhile.  For some reason people seem to internalize that image that much more if they're on snowboard.com, and not just have the latest and greatest gear...regardless if it ever touches snow or if they can steer it through a average mogul field/park/mountain.

Beyond that...it's just a web site...don't let people get to ya and don't take anything else to seriously. Especially from internet warriors that spend more time online then on snow.

Log off, get out and ride...while there's still snow. Hike for it if you have to...it's good for ya.

I've heard some really good things about Mt Bohemia.  By far the best in that region, but no...

Harhar!!! Yes.. DTW(detroit metro) is a southwest hub. And only a short nine or ten hour drive from bohemia.... I think it would actually be closer to fly into greenbay or something.. I would have to look a t a map.. But yeah, only Yoopers and Cheeseheads ride there anyways.

How do they compare? To Baker? They don't.  The triple balck diamond area is maybe 600' of vert, around the high 30's low 40's pitch, and well spaced hardwoods that you can see around. If I had to compare the place to anywhere. I would say Steamboat Colorado, at a fraction of the size.... It's not really worth the trip unless you live in the western great lakes area.

My pleasure on the park.. It was alot of fun. Much better then the icy chute. And it was really Richardd's idea. He likes taking a few laps through the park. I think he is addicted to the hip jump.

You where really catching some pretty good air. I was impressed. We'll have to do it again next season.

OK - so in the past week the only posts in 30+ Chat have been my 18yo daughter and me.  The epitaph I gave over FJA may be appropriate over the entire Forum.  Yea, it usually slows down right after the season I guess.  But man, the cobwebs that hit you when you walk in are freaky.

HELLO OUT THERE 30+ RIDERS!!
