God, I'm such a silly little thing.

So! Let's get a head count of how many Koreans there are on this forum, and how many there are currently in Korea!

About me:::

I'm in Korea at the moment, and will stay here for the next four years, studying Political Science and Linguistics @ Hanyang University. I'm hoping that Pyeong-Chang (where almost all the ski resorts are) will be the winner for the 2010 Winter Olympics, because then I'll have a bigger chance to get picked to get on the Korea Team.

Wait.

I'm an American citizen.

oooohhh...damn. does that mean that I'd be on the american team? wait. they wouldn't even take me.

Okay, but enough rambling! :D Let's get all the Koreans in here and talk about how crappy our ski resorts are. :P And if you guys are lucky, I just might organize a snowboarding trip and we can throw snowballs at the skiiers!

Who's with me!!!

...I think I had too much coffee...

Okay. While I do agree that the korean girls may be tons prettier, I didn't ask your opinion about resorts in Japan and you're not Korean nor in Korea atm, so get lost. :D

oooh, harsh words. Spoken like a true american.

Relax, chagiya (sp?),  you said yourself that the Korean resorts are crap.

Scroll down the Asians forum and see how long other threads about korea lasted.   There are more racists than koreans on these boards.

You`re a Poli Sci major? Rad. I have a question,

So whats up with that crazy-ass bitch Kim Jong?  Is that dude for real?

And Phoenix, is that the place that makes tons of fake snow so that you can ride around in the autumn?

I am Korean, thought I'm new.  Sucks to hear that resorts in Korea suck.  I wanted to peep those a few years down the road.  Ah well, I can always hop over the sea and bug those dirty Japs.

(If anyone Japanese happens to reads this, I didn't actually mean the above epithet as a serious insult or anything.  Although y'all put some WEIRD ass shit on TV and mangas).

If you don't mean it, then don't say it.  And leave the racial slur ("Japs") out of it.  Thanks for informing us of how small-minded you are.

Wow.  Harsh.

Anyway, FionnShin, they pick Olympic sites years in advance of competition.  So 2010 will be in Vancouver, and PyeonChang has been out of the running for about four years now.  They are however in the running for the 2014 games, which should be announced soon.

I don't know how the KOC operates, but generally rules seem pretty lax.  I believe it was in bobsledding in 2002, the Greek team was half composed of Greek Americans from Chicago (two of them).  You probably will require Korean citizenship, but if you're good enough (better than whoever they send out, assuming they even have a team) then they'll grant you that.  And you're not a guy, so you don't have to worry about being forcibly conscripted or anything.

Im a meguk but rode at YongPyong over Christmas.  I was warned that Koreans board like they drive, which turned out to be true.  The resort was tremendously overcrowded and was more like bumper cars than boarding.  I did see a few young fellows that were reasonably experienced but nothing like you see in the states.  Maybe the good don't come out on the weekends.  The resorts need to add tons of runs for the people they have.  The snow was pretty light but I was there early so it might get better.  If you go,  go for the kimchi and culture don't make a special trip just to ride.  And yes it seems all the girls are pretty.  I would like to go back but not for the snow.

meh you guys aren't that much brighter either. Pretty ingorant bunch i must say. japan don't even admit the atrocties and the miseries that they created in asia during WWII. a good majority of people in Japan even thinks that the najing masscre and rest of japan's action in asia is a lie. So some of us don't need to apologize

it's not that japan hasn't admitted certain things. they've finally admitted comfort women, ww2 brutalities, and other things; they've even apologized many times. it's just the japanese government and pseudo-academics that say "sorry" one moment, then create excuses the next, and then create a defense budget larger than the UK (and expanding) among many other things. actions speak louder than words.

I hope you were drunk when you typed that because that post is straight out of left field.
I did not ask for an apology.  Nor is this thread about WWII.  He wrote a racial slur.  I called him out.  It's that simple.

China_man... you are a dumbass.  It is truly remarkable to me that you could possibly call someone out on allegedly being "ingorant" when your post is rife with mistakes in spelling, syntax, and grammar.  Just shush, seriously.

JZmastr... I apologize if you truly were offended.  But I am not a proponent of political correctness in the least.  I call my friends stupid guks (note that I am a stupid guk), stupid chinks, stupid wetbacks, whatever.  I mean it in an entirely facetious manner and feel that it's intent that matters more than anything else.  I am of the opinion that people in the world are far too hung up on bullshit like political correctness, and frankly I'm not going to change my ways because one guy on the internet's offended.  Sorry, man.

No worries, man.  I took it as more malicious, which after your explanation, it apparently wasn't.  I agree about people being too PC these days, and that's definitely true.  I've seen you post some legit help and info other places, so I know you're not just some forum-flamer.  No worries, man.  I hope you guys get some good snow.

i brought my board with me when i went to visit my folks in korea last february. dude, i gotta give it up. koreans are fuking hard core. i went snowboarding twice in korea during my 1 month stay. first time, i went to yongpyong with some friends. to be fair, i should mention that we went on a saturday during the winter festival or something so it was even more crowded than normal (according to my friends who live there). i totally understand what olerubbertoe's saying about feeling more like bumper cars than riding. within the first minute on the slopes, i was literally knocked off my feet by 3 different boarders (one was my friend). i thought mountaincreek was crowded but yongpyong was like 10x more crowded than mc which i didn't even think was possible. my night ended when a girl drilled me from behind on the slippery flat area at the bottom. imagine a really wide flat area where all the slopes come together and there's a bunch of lifts that go off in different directions. by night, this flat area turned real slick. you could see it shining like an ice rink and it felt like i was riding a never ending butter box. i managed to get down the slopes without any trouble but must have fallen a gazillion times on this flat area. anyways, when that girl ran into me i thought i broke my butt forreals. i think i may have shed a tear or two. i couldn't even ride, i had to unstrap and walk back to the lodge. it was an awful experience. on the other hand, i thought the resorts, themselves, were really nice. they had a gigantic tv above the life lines which they really didn't need b/c the lines moved pretty fast. they also have these really cool air blowers thing in front of the lodges where you can use a high pressure air blower to clean off your board which i thought was really neat. something interesting i saw was a lot of ppl just unstrap both their bindings and carry their boards on the lifts (maybe that's why they always fall off the lifts over here). even funnier thing is that the area where you get off the lift was sooo flat, i would actually have to push myself off the chairs. lol another weird thing that i noticed was how unpopular burton was over there, yet jeenyus and forum were very common (i think they may even have been the ones they were renting out). second time i went snowboarding was to phoenix, another resort close to yongpyong but smaller and more oriented towards snowboarders. i went with my dad during a weekday the following week so it was much less crowded. it had snowed the night before so a lot of ppl were raving about how great the conditions were but frankly, it was awful. they call us the ice coast but after riding in korea i really know what it feels like to ride on ice. their slopes felt almost too groomed, the snow felt like it was really packed and hard and bumpy. it was especially really difficult for my dad, who hadn't skiied since we used to live in alaska so it must have been a big change for him. we went early in the morning, rode only for a few hours and left as the crowd started to pick up. honestly, i probably could have ridden a lot longer but my dad really looked like he was struggling. i forget, he's getting old. :( yea so overall, my snowboarding experience in korea was not so great but i would probably do it again. :P

Korea is one of the worst places on earth for snow anything.  I been riding here for 4 years now.  It's f'n shit, and I am from Virginia.  It barely ever snows here.  Go every weekend and I can tell you its like that 95% of the time.  But gotta make due with what you got.  I ride in yongpyong and for korean standards its pretty high.  What do you expect form resorts where they make MOST of their snow.  I bet 95% of the snow is manmade.  HAHA.  If anyone wants to ride hit me up.

Korean here also but im in the states. I've never been to Korea in my life and am planning on going either this year or next. Really wanted to check out the resorts over there but after reading this post it doesnt seem like its worth the trouble of taking my gear. I will anyways as i plan on hitting up Japan. I dont mind riding ice as i am accustomed to it and my home resort is usually all manmade but i hate crowds. Too many people riding out of control. How are the parks there? Nice jibs and kickers? Anyways, hows everyones season going so far? My resort just opened this past  weekend and i've ridden everyday. The park is off the hook, well the whole mountain is a park so i guess the mountains off the hook. So stoked to ride, learn new tricks and have fun with my friends.
shut up and ride
