Oops, I mean unite! So um yeah, I am supremely jealous of the Calgarians getting snow.

Lol! Sure they will get the snow but then, unlike Edmonton, the chinooks will steal it right back again.  Meanwhile we will be in our little mini-Siberia listening to co-workers whining about why Calgary gets all the good weather and we get the 3 feet of snowpack in the residential roads-woohoo!!!

Arrrrrgggggggg. It is frickin cold outside, and the snow just won't FALL! And it is driving me CRAZY because it's too cold to go biking, but there isn't WHITE stuff on the ground to shred after school! ARG! Anyways, where are you shredding this year? Sunridge again?

Probably, I still haven't bought a season pass yet at Sunridge (last year I was numbers 1,2 and 3) because they raised their prices to $449 as opposed to $499 at Rabbit. However Sunridge is so close to where I live that I ride almost everyday. Are you working Rabbit again?

Is sunridge snowvalley? Cause I have never heard of sunridge, and if the name changed that would explain it since I never paid attention to snowvalley. Boarderaholic I guess you would be the one to ask, is rabbit hill going to get a decent park again this year? Cause if I remember correctly it was absolute crap compared to what it was in the past.

Noooooooooo. Sunridge is NOT Snow Valley! There on like polar opposite ends of the city. If I am correct about this, I believe it is close to the Yellowheadish area. (Slaughter, please correct me if I am wrong about that.) As for last year's park, I kinda have to disagree with you about that. I think, with the features changing every week, it was really fun and exciting learning new tricks and stuff. With the year before that, it was the same stuff all the time.

Thats what was always the draw to rabbit hill for me though was the halfpipe. Oh well I might look into getting a season pass this year, I just dont like the idea of having to drive 30-40 minutes for rabbit hill =(

Yep, Boarderholic is right like always! Sunridge is located a the far eat end of Yellowhead Trail (close to Sherwood Park).  It covers a much larger area than Snowvalley. Sunridge has a good variety of runs (1 green, 2 blue and the rest are black runs). The vertical was always lacking but over the course of the last two summers have added thousands of tons of dirt to bring it up. I decided to go down there about two weeks ago and you have to see the added verical to believe it; they pretty much doubled the vertical of their blue/black runs (near Coyote Crossing). They will be adding a chairlift next summer as it is all T-bars there now (to put it in Sunridge liftie terms "If you want to hit the good shit in Marmot, you'll use the T-bars").  I think that Sunridge is trying to put SnowValley out of the running and is trying to compete with Rabbit Hill directly, which is not an easy task. Sunridge has a great park, especially if you are starting out, yet is progressive as well for more advanced riders like 50 foot rails. The staff are great but most are very ride over work orientated. I've seen the odd liftie stop pulling tees and drop a few rails while other riders loaded themselves (note: NOBODY complains about this...its actually awesome because they are actually really good in the park, riders prefer to load themselves on the tees and the lifties will always critique your progress for you if you ask, while often giving suggestions). Sort of like a family atmosphere. Even ski patrol there is cool which is weird, lol! I've dropped in on the Ski Race Club's slalom poles and had ski patrol give me props for pissing off the club, HAH! If it is lessons or a more professional attitude you are looking for then Rabbit Hill is the place to go and the park is pretty good there as well. Plus, Boarderholic works there so things have got to be running right. Sunridge is more for the lone wolf type rider.

Can former Edmontonians unite too? I used to live right near the baseball park at the corner of 98th ave and 104th street. My building was on a slope and I always wanted to build a booter next to it but never actually got around to it. Sometimes I miss it, but then I remember how much it sucked to live in 400 square feet.

Just curious if any of you knew if anyone has been getting their 07 jackets put out yet, preferable 686 stuff. I would love to check some of them out soon. Either way I will call a few shops tomorrow, but was wondering if any of you could save me the trouble :p

Doubtful. I think a majority of stores have the hoodies and stuff in, but not actual jackets and stuff. The smaller ones will probably wait until the show at the end of October before stocking it.

Ohhhh, extra-small sb.com meet! I think the best place would be Rabbit Hill...due to some of my personal safety concerns...Sunridge is too far, Snow Valley...er, yeah, and Edmonton Ski Club...nah, I think I'm starting to see too much of downtown...

Oh yeah, 98th ave and 104 street is right in the River Valley.  In fact, if you lived in the building right across the street from the Horizon building have I got a story for you.  My friend was getting evicted from that building in the early 90s so we have a typically Canadian house wrecker party. We slammed holes in the walls behind the appliances and put frozen fish in the holes. Then the thermostat was removed from the wall, turned right up to full heat.  Then the thermostat was put into a hole in the wall and drywalled over. Next the glass balcony doors went over the balcony. After all the chaos wore down and we were getting ready to leave, we noticed the mattress that was left behind had a farewell present on it. Someone took a shit (in the 90s it was a "triple coiler with a Dairy Queen Twist") and put a cocktail umbrella in it. No one confessed to it. Finally the locks were glued shut with crazy glue.  ANYWAYS, the hills in the River Valley are long steep runs about half the size of the main blue run on Rabbit Hill. Once I can figure out how to stop on my T-Board I'd like to hit them because it is one hell of a network of steep hills. If it was covered in snow it would be a blast on a snowboard.

I think it would make for an awesome day at Rabbit for sure. It will make for a break from Sunridge for a day.

AKD, thanks for the snowmaking last season man! Were you working with Monkey?

Yeah man, i was north of the river (I could see the Epcor plant from my balcony), two blocks south of Jasper Ave.

House destruction parties are good times. The cocktail umbrella in the triple coiler is a nice touch.

As for real names, my sb.com name is effectively my real name (at least my middle one), so Junior Barns will do; but if you insist, I have no objections to revealing my first name (that's one of the things that I DON'T need to hide)...Marc.
