Ok, so hopefully one of those worthless mods sees this and makes this a sticky cause that would be grand.

I am getting super sick of seeing Devils Head vs. Tyrol or

WHere can I find a resort in my area.

Well here is the place to post.

Scan this thread before you make a new thread.

Going to Colorado, to unload my head.

Resorts with good parks = Sunburst (Kewaskum WI), Chestnut (Galena IL), Tyrol (Mt Horeb WI), Cascade (Portage WI), Marquette Mtn (Marquette MI UP)

Sunburst-  Pros- Super short park with tow rope = Lots of runs,  Great rails from planet snow tools, Weekdays are very uncrowded, small enough jump to dial in your tricks.

Cons- Poor grooming, management holds back its full potential to have the best park in the midwest.

                   * - New experienced park groomer from park city will be working the cat this season.

Chestnut - (Never been there) - BUt from pictures I have seen, it looks like a mini Hcsc with rail garden, big jumps, and a plethora of rails.  Chestnut is also right next to a lake, so there is an unlimited supply of water for snowmaking, which is used for a massive jump later in the season.

Tyrol - Good Jump, good rails, great riders.  Fun place to ride, but they need to advance their park.  it has been the same for the past 3 years.

I have run outta time,  please  feel free to add pros and cons to these resorts + other resorts I have left out.

FourLakes (Lisle,Illlinois)

Pros-
A terrain park with small and medium features that makes it easy to work on new tricks or working on steeze.
Sometimes larger features just depends on the amount of snowfall and weather.
Cons-
Incredibly small
Gets REALLY crowded during the weekend

Raging Buffalo (Algonquin, IL)

Pros:
snowboard-only terrain park
beginner - intermediate jumps & rails for working on new tricks or learning first jumps
park is split in 1/2 with beginner jumps on one side & bigger jumps on the other
friendly local crowd
separate beginner hill
ladies ride free on Wednesdays

Cons:
tiny landfill (smaller than Four Lakes)
always icy
half pipe looks and feels like it's hand-made, and curves at the end so it comes out right into the path of people coming down from the biggest jump
there are always bumps going into the jumps and potholes in the landings
tow ropes (I guess this could also be a pro)
$400 season pass

worthless mods indeed! lol......yeah I'll sticky it for the time being....but you know eventually it will die down and people will post and not get a response and then they will start making new threads like "where should I ride?" and "which resort is better?" and at that time the utility of this will have faded.

RB is smaller than 4Lakes? I cant someone how see that possible. I never been to RB, but 4lakes is so small. Runs average 5-10 seconds.

Yeah hard to believe, huh. I rode one day at 4 Lakes last yr., I don't know if the vert. drop is longer (RB is like 200 ft) but it's quite a bit wider across.

The biggest Vertical in the Midwest is Mount Bohemia with 1,000 ft. We should all meet there on a powder day next season!

Yesss, I wanted to go there all last season, but it's so far away from me I'd need a 3-day weekend to make it worth the drive, and usually if I get a 3-day weekend I go out west :-/

I say we drive on friday and stop at granite Peak for a night session, then drive early on Saturday to Bohemia and ride saturday and half day Sunday. Driving back will suck but it will be worth it!

I have 3 day weekends, weeks, random days all the time but I never manage to get out west. You lucky ass. Oh, and I would be game for meeting up and riding with the Midwesterners from sb.com. That would be grand.

Let's arrange something then. Yanno, I had this idea of getting a couple sweet ass sweet rooms with hot tubs at Chestnut right at the beginning of the season. Itinerary: Wake and Bake, eat breakfast, get ready to ride, ride all day and get blown doing it, stop occasionally for rest and munchies, then pre-game with shots, go to dinner, drink more, go do something stoooopid (think a naked run on the boards in the middle of the night), drink more, and repeat. Oh yea, and utalize those hot tubs. Sounds good to me. how about you? Any takers?
