erling has created a new forum topic New jib-board - fun, discrete, easy to ride. Posted on May 21, 2009
Hey guys!

Im getting a new board for the Australian/NZ winter which is coming up. Probably gonna end up ordering it online from the states, Ive got good experiences with buysnow.com, but as long as the shop has a competetive price and will send it to Australia I dont really care.

Anyways. Last season I first had the Gnu Street 148. This board sucked. First of all, it was waaay to soft for my weight (Im 73kgs) and the tail broke the first day I rode it. Other than this I actually liked the shape of the board. It turned easy and felt light under my feet.

Next board - Lib Tech TRS BTX 157. This board totally sucked for jibbing. Way to stiff for me, hard to control, ollie-pop was bad and hard to jib on it. Generally this board kicked ass in powder and high speed, and I bet it would be fun to hit huge kickers and the pipe on it, however, thats not my thing. I generally like to jerk around, pop 360s and 540s off crests, nosepress, jib on rails etc. This means that I need a board that feels light under may feet, has heaps of pop for ollies, is reasonably soft (the TRS was to stiff) so I can press and yeah, you catch my drift.

My general experience is that the cheaper boards without all the fancy technology does this job quite well. Furthermore, I dont mind if the board has an under-the-radar look, as I dont really like to stand out and look like a stash-whore with all the newest shit.

I cant help remembering my old '02 (I think) Lib Tech Jamie Lynn 145. This board totally ripped, had it only been twin-tip...

Btw. any good, cheap-ass bindings to recommend as well? I sold all my stash after the european winter, except forums stunner SLR boots, which by the way feels like a glove on my feet!

Thanks for your assistance guys! :)

erling has created a new forum topic Bought a 09 Lib 157 TRS BTX today. Posted on Nov 12, 2008
Hey guys,

Just wanted to share the feeling of knowing that a brand new board is waiting for me at the post office in a week or two!

Anyone been fortunate enough to try this yet? I was lucky to get my hands on the 157 which apparently is a bit stiffer than the 151 and 154. While a bit longer than what I would normally opt for, Im looking forward to a loose ride and heeps of fun in the mountain.

I've allready bought a season ticket at the local mountain, Tryvann and Varingskollen, which both have lots of rails, boxes and fun stuff to play around with.

Just need more snow ....

erling has created a new forum topic Dark BTX, anyone tried it?. Posted on Oct 14, 2008
Hey guys,

After wrecking my Gnu Street I need a new board. The Street 152 was to soft for me and had next to nothing when it came to pop. I want something soft enough to dork around in the park pressing and having fun, but still with enough pop to get good lift off crests, doing ollies over stuff and that kind of things.

I had my mind set on the 153 TRS BTX, but am a bit worried that it might be to Streetish, so has anyone tried the Dark BTX? I would have to opt for a longer board, 158 if choosing the Dark, but how does the fun-factor in the Dark Series compare to the TRS? I'm 177cm and about 75kgs.

Im definantly an all-mountain rider, so I want something thats stable at high speeds and can go off-piste... But in my hometown we have two killer terrainparks with dozens of rails, so since Im gonna spend most of my time on the rails and boxes I want something fun...

I hate this searching for board process, especially when I have no place to go and check out the boards myself (living in Norway, but studying in Australia at the moment)..

Hope some of you guys can be of assistance...

By the way, if anyone remembers the old Lib Tech Jamie Lynn from back in, uhm, 2001-2002 or something? Thats the best board I've ridden to date...

erling has created a new forum topic Is the Gnu Street really this shi*t?. Posted on Sep 25, 2008
I got myself a 08 Gnu Street 152 the other day and managed to crack the board btw. the nose and front binding on my first day just doing nose presses and having fun. Is this really normal? Ive had heeps of boards, and never fucked one up this fast - without even going big...

So whats next for me? Im definantly not getting another street, as these boards seems to be able to withstand next to nothing.

So, the Lib Tech TRS 154 BTX or Travis Rice 153 BTX? Whats the difference really? The TRS is suppose to be a bit softer, which should be fun(?)

I want a board that a) wont break, b) can be used all over the mountain and c) is fun to ride.

thanks guys. dont buy the street...
