My Journal

Saturday, November 30, 2002

Oh Penelope,
Are you filled with air?
Swallowed oxygen,
Makes you float up?

Is it dropsy?
Will your lungs swell?
It's depressing me to see you struggle.

-pinback

Wow, i forgot about weekend crowds in the winter. wow.

i'm thinking about going snowboarding. pehaps i am mad...

well, maybe not. it's pretty gloomy out. i said i might go up with a friend, but i think i'll have to pass.

i just went to the mailbox and got a strange peice of mail. it was "recovered" mail. a mail truck was stolen in alberta, and when they found it several days later they attempted to match all the pieces of mail with recipients. so i received a sheet of paper which should have been in an envelope, and should have had my new credit card attached to it. but it doesn't. so i race online and check my online statement. no new charges. thank god. then i had to cancel my card, and now i have to wait a week for a new one. and all my accounts that are set up with my old card number have to be changed. and it's a pain in the ass...

but this coffee is warming my soul so who cares.

Roth just got back from california. he gave me a spiffy new coat for my birthday, so in his honor, today's new photo is of him...

brad rocked out last night. the band he plays with holds it down, but he makes the show. i shot photos all night, can't wait to see them.

dionne is coming by with the new transworld. its 10 degrees celcius on the top of the mountain at 10:30 AM. for my american friends, that's 50. November 27th my ass. this is more like september...

the new Transworld looks really good. There is a big, long wildcats thing in it with some good bombed shots of all the boys. too bad they made the switch bs 5 sequence of Devun so small. Jeff Anderson's interview is some really good perspective on growing up sponsored. i like that guy more all the time.

went to get my sled today. it wasn't ready, but at least i got to look at the parts list from the repairs. oh my good lord. half my sled has been replaced.

two new photos up today. one of peter line and one of kale. maybe after hockey i'll scrounge up an old shot of Jeffy and put it up too...

yay canucks. 8 straight...

i put up an old shot of Jeffy

ok, so nobody bought me the 130 thousand dollar guitar. i guess i'll have to make due with my little guitar collection as is. i sang to like, ten people last night and it freaked me out. but they were stoked so maybe i'm kinda into it too.

if you haven't gone and rated the public photos i put up, please go give them all 5's. do it not because you like them, do it because you love me...

one new photo today. the happiest man alive...

and one more this evening from trini

can't talk, not caffeinated...

todays update brought to you in living colour. (thanx liviya)

i'm addicted to internet weather sites. i have so many of them bookmarked that it is embarassing. it's not just that i need to know when it's going to snow (sunday, unless this high pressure breaks down) but i need to know how much snow is on the ground in calgary, montreal and toronto. and the river levels. and wind warnings. i used to just wake up and deal with whatever i got dealt. now i have thousands of bits of information on my hands. i wonder if my life is that different. i'm way better at procrastinating now...

since we don't have any powder, i put up two shots of powder shred-dogs. and a bunch of photos of friends and shit...

TJ is home with his new Green truck. and his new RMK sled. With my Red truck and his Green truck, our driveway looks like Christmas...

happy birthday to me, happy birthday to meeeeee...

the mountain is open and i'm not going to join the masses. three chair rides to get to the glacier. i've ridden the glacier. it's sunny and clear and cold at last, but the cold is going to waste since there is no snow in the forecast.

2 new shots of TJ from the Calgary trip up today.

rookie is back. we walked to starbucks. i am currently using a grande dark roast with an espresso shot added. my favourite addiction.

doug got me a wireless system for my amp. now i can play guitar anywhere in the house and turn the 5150 up to eleven. sorry rookie...

it's not too late to buy me this for my birthday:

ok, i was under the deluded impression that blackcomb was open for locals today. i guess that is not the case. so don't read my entry from yesterday and go rushing over to the mountain.

actually, it is open, ya. go right over and check it...

this is what i want for my birthday but we can call it a birthday/christmas present. i promise i'll be your best friend if you get it for me:

you have no idea how warm it is in Whistler today. if i had to call it something, i would call it balmy. tomorrow is opening day, and it looks like we'll be starting the season not with a bang, but with a whimper. look for yourself:

http://www.whistler-blackcomb.com/weather/cams/index.asp#

at least there are lots of people walking around the village, eyes squinting from that warm orb in the sky that has been absent for the last couple weeks. shaking off the mildew, everyone chatty and social. and complaining about the weather.

"I dont think before I speak
and I dont know how far my words reach
so wrong nearly every time
that I'm sorry I speak my mind
if what I said is unkind"

on fire - Sebadoh
