Welcome back
to another exciting edition of THE MESSAGE.. da da da DUNNNNN.
Good new snow fiends, We got are first dusting on the Sierra's
last week, so lets hope that this will be an early season for all
us! THE BLOCK, THE BLOCK is gearing up for Snowboard Season
by sponsoring a bunch of snowboard premieres and parties. I just saw
the new First Tracks Video, Knock on Wood at Mont Bleu, and
what a great turnout we had, THE BLOCK was soldout and Flick was dope
as all hell!

Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails 5th annual snowboarding specatcular
tested the skills of some of the best jumpers and jibbers in the world
and paid out $15,000 in prize money! Rio and the entire Bear
Mountain Park Staff pulled off the 1st contest of the year with Grand
Style! The Dropin, The Gap, and the rails were epic and
riders were stoked to be throwing down for the first time of the
Season! Big props to reelcomp.com for broadcasting a live feed of the
event besure to check it out on their website.

THE
BLOCK BOOTCAMP 2008
Has been rescheduled to December 1st
-13th in South Lake Tahoe. We are selecting 50 lucky recruits from an
applicant pool of over 500+ that I received. It has been no easy task
going through the applications, so if you were selected congratulations
you will be receiving your deployment orders at the end of the
week! Remember that during bootcamp you will be tested to
your physical and mental limits. So do yourself a favor and start
working out and jogging now. This is not going to be a walk in the
park.

Tuesday Nov 18th – One Block Radius come to town, Marty James, MDA
and Z-Man throw a tough show, pickup there new hit "you got me" and
come to the show.
Friday
November 28th – Del The Funky Homosapien has been add to host the
"Blizzard" Pray for Snow Party with A-Plus and Bukue-one! So mark this
one down cuz its going to GO OFF in Tahoe that weekend!
Saturday December 28th– "How The Grouch Stole Christmas" with
Grouch and Eli from the Living Legends! I am looking forward to this
show the most! So get up on game and go buy his new album that came
this past spring and be sure to celebrate X-mas with the GROUCH!!!

Summer, Summer, Summmer tiiiiiiiiiime is
finally winding down, there have been some kickass concerts going down
in Tahoe all summer I saw Pato Banton, Andre Nickatina, Rebelution, The
Pyrx Band, and many others, 4th of July was off the hook! For
those of you who caught the fireworks, than you know that Tahoe and Big
Bear offer some amazing fireworks shows, if you didn't make it to the
lakes this year, you better plan on it next year!!!! And then we had
Labor Day, Thanks to everyone who came out and partied last weekend!
Both Hotels were SOLD OUT and it was an amazing time!!! IF

SO with the 1st contest coming
our way that means winter is just around the corner, and THE BLOCK has
been busy preparing for
THE BLOCK BOOTCAMP 2008!! This year's BLOCK
Bootcamp will be held once again in Big Bear from
Nov
10-22. We have been receiving numerous applications
from all over the world and will be selecting 100 recruits to
participate in THE BLOCK Bootcamp of which only 20 will be hired! The
Bootcamp is a HIGH STRESS Environment and will be intense, so start
training now! If you have any injuries that prevent you from completing
physical tasks (ie. push-ups, pull-ups, running and general
calisthenics), please refrain from enrolling as we will not be making
any exceptions for any physical and mental handicaps this
year! If you were not hired last year and can physically
complete the course you are welcome to re-apply for Season 3.
However, This year we are going stern on
snowboarders, you MUST BE ABLE TO SNOWBOARD! We don't want
non-snowboarding actors trying to get the job, just because it's a TV
Show. SO if you don't own your own snowboard and gear and cant ride
down the mountain, don't even bother applying!!!!!!
Snowboarding will be part of The Bootcamp, so your skills will be put
to the test!
If you have already applied,
don't worry your application has been received and we are in the
process of reviewing them, All accepted recruits will be notified
atleast 30 days prior to Boot Camp Departure Via 1st Class Mail from
Marc Frank Montoya and Liko Smith.

After raging super hard on thursday night, I was about to call of my plans for riding this weekend... But when I woke up at 420 and lite up and was sitting up at home by myself... I started thinking about all the fresh powder that would be up there this weekend... And after many debates I just couldn´t NOT go. So I was out half blunt hanging out my mouth on Friday night. Took a bus to San Sebastian and meet up with my crew. Got on another bus and 4 hours later and 2 movies we arrive in Viehla. it was dumping giant flakes. At first they tried to randomly put me in a room with my 3 other friends but there was only 3 beds. So I went back down and got my own room and crashed. I was the first one at breakfast, the first one dressed and the first one waiting on the bus. I waited for my homies to get there boots on and we were off to the plushiest, softest, dryest knee to waist deep powder I have rode in a long time. It wasn´t bluebird but it wasn´t completely whiteout either. it was a nice mix of both and it kept snowing all day all night until we left. Cleaned up soooooo many fresh lines, Cornace drops, 10-15 ft cliff drops into the softest snow ever. The first day was pretty windy so alot of lifts were closed, but they opened up the second day. We stopped at 2 and grabbed our ice cold Heinekin tall boys and red bulls out of the snow and kept riding. One of my friends couldn´t keep up so well, so he got ditched half day both days but it was his choice to stop. EVERY LINE, ALL DAY, BOTH DAYS was just perfect, wether it was trees, whiteout, giant powder spary turns, cornaces, shutes or cliffs. EVERY RUN was the sh*t! ON the last run of the last day, my friends had stopped on the top of the powder noll and I just sprayed the sh*t out of them. and then kept barging, but the wind picked up so much and it was dumping and I got stuck in the powder. I seriously couldn´t tell which way was down, I was just looking for tracks and trying to get in them. Struggling for like 5 minutes I finally see some tracks and then some ppl and then some signs through the fog and made my way down off the face to a more visible lower half. At the end of both days, my hair was completely white and iced to my helmet. I will post pics as soon as i get them from my friends.... http://www.baqueira.es/

Birthday Weekend wrapup
We went to a sideria which was dank. A bomb 4 course Meal(thanks Gina). and all the sider you can drink. I got smashed drinking straight from the Barrels, snuck back on the bus we weren´t allowed to take to get there with the rest of the group, and made out with 2 chicks from my school and then proceeded to get biligerent at some bars by my house..In the drunked Rage I decided I needed my 24 birthday punch beatdown and today I am wearing a Nice big black bruise on the shoulder with pride.

The mountain had no park but had really good steeps. The first day was all dust on crust with about 2-3inches on the ice. Most of the mountain was unrideable due to windblown conditions. I packed my camera the whole day for nothing. Couldn´t drop it off cuz couldn´t find lockers. So the next day I am like f*ck riding with a camera. And we get up there to 6-8 inches of freshees. It was SO BOMB. Cleaned up the last few lines on the frontside and then headed around to the backside bowl up to the other peak and found some sicc cournaces to jump off. once that powder was trashed we bounced off on some closed double black runs through these f*ckin ballsy ass shoots but once we cleared that all these untouched rock booters and fresh powder to spray around. I almost died on the last run at the top of these windblown super cliff. trying to cling to super steep ice with no edges on my board was loco, but once it dropped down it was all nice again. I smoked out with the snowboard dudes that ran the sh*t so I might got some hookups if I go back. But I am looking for bigger and better things. Pas de la Casa AKA Grandvalira is one of Europes biggest resorts.

Chilled in the Rain 4 hrs. on Saturday to watch the last day of Competition for the Mundaka surf contest.
Luke Egan edged out Phillip Macdonald in a 35 min heat to take the championship. Not too many good waves but he definitely had some better rides.

ROMA, Italia,
Rome is a really amazing city, 4 days there was a rush to try and see everything!!! We came in kind of late so, we didn’t do much the first night, In the morning we got up early and Saw La basilica de San Pietro in the Vatican City, got a free tour in English and learned a lot about the art and history, then we took another tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, There is nothing more amazing then seeing the Raphael Rooms leading up to the Chapel and then The chapel itself, There is so much symbolism within the paintings, for example, A cardinal was mad that all of Michelangelo’s people were naked on the wall, So, He painted the cardinal in the corner of the main wall with a snake biting his balls and a donkey ears to symbolize bad taste in art. The paintings and statues in the Vatican are amazing! After that we got some authentic Italian pizza, took a break and then walked around Rome at night, it is really a completely different feel at night, Checked some ruins and the basilica at night.
On Sat. We went to Circus Maximus - (an old chariot racing stadium)the largest spectator arena in the world during its time holding around 375,000 people now there is not much left, walked through the ancient forum were all the important temples and palaces used to be in Ancient Rome and up onto the palatine hill where Nero’s golden palace used to be, and down to the Coliseum. I bought a book called Rome now and then and its amazing to imagine how Rome used to look in its prime, and it makes you wonder what happened to the city that would make it all ruins because it looked as if it would have lasted forever. Inside the coliseum they used to hold not only matches between gladiators but also hunts against different animals and occasional animal vs. animal showdowns. One time the hunters were going against 30 elephants and after they killed off the first 2 the remaining 28 stampeded in a heard at the wall and collapsed a big part of the coliseum. During another hunt which seemed to be getting a little boring the Emperor Commonus (gladiator) jumped into the stands and started slaying spectators, and they other side erupted with cheers, Commonus also killed 30 men with a club in tribute to Hercules inside the arena, most were already severely injured, so he would kill 5, stop, drink some wine, kill 5 more, have some bread etc. There was like 6-7 couples taking wedding pictures at the coliseum and as we were leaving and checking out the illegal street vendors selling Gucci, Prada, & Louie purses, sunglasses watches etc. The Indian Street vendors got into with the Black street vendors a fight/skirmish broke out one Indian guy’s face was bleeding under his eye and was holding a solid glass souvenir block thing as a fist pack ready to go knock out the other African but his buddies held him back and the other dude got away, what was once a block market quickly turned into a empty street as the Indian gave chase, and everyone selling quickly vacated the area.
That night we checked out the Spanish steps, The Pantheon and The Fountain de Trevi all amazing sites, we hung out at the Fountain for a few hours and talked to some Italians. Had the best ice cream in the world and called it a night after getting lectured by some Yugoslavians about liking the Sacramento Kings and not the Lakers.
Sunday we went back to the Vatican and listened to the pope bless the entire square for 30 minutes. Then returned to the Pantheon and went inside, really quite amazing, continued are walk passed all types of monuments and then ended up passed the Forum and at the Pyramid.
Our Last day we tried to go to the top of the Vatican but lines were so long, so we went back in one more time and checked out some of the art we had missed walked to the Spanish steps and checked out all the real Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada stores and had some really good salmon pasta before the trip home.

my newest adventures, 2 weekends ago, we hit up San Sebastion and it couldn´t have been better they were having an international film festival and a Surf contest, the Disco and Bar scene there is off the hook, There were so many people I knew and all types
of others I met, this one dude just kept buying me shots because I was wearing my Chico State shirt and talking all types of sh*t about partying, the beaches were amazing all the hotties were out, just
crowded and fun during the day, some tackle football was necessary and epic body surfing... I randomly rolled out of bed to the film festival back entrance and was able to see Woodie Allen and Sharon Stone getting
out of there mercedes, snapped a foto in front of the entire group that had been waiting for hours... Really good shopping and food there as well, and all night long parties.. Saw all of our homies from Madrid
and just had an exceptional Time...
This weekend I stayed in Bilbao, checked out the Guggenhiem, which is really amazing on the inside and the outside, spent like 6 hours in awe, then went downtown for shopping and saw the entire Real Madrid
team get off their bus and check into their hotel, girls were just screaming beckham and Ronaldo and it was hysterria, later we went to the last street fiesta of summer, and mingled with locals. On Sat, we went to the Bilbao, Real Madrid Soccer game, it was way more expensive but it was such a good time, the streets were just filled with Red and
White jerseys and clothes, they were selling anti-madrid scarfs and just getting wasted befor the Game, the game was really good 2-1 Bilbao and we were sitting by the goal where every goal was scorred in and really close to the field again. Afterwards the entire town was just pumped and all the clubs in downtown Bilboa were just poppin, the metro
runs all night so we were able to make it home after a night full of Debachery... Sunday was rest but I checked out our local skate park for a few hours and some of the chiller local beaches by my house... This
week ive been studying for exams and Surfing til sunset... Life is good....

Let me just say that Spain is the f*ckin sh*t. Madrid was crazy, caught a Real Madrid soccer match and sat in the 4th row I could have spit on Beckham.. Now im living in this dope little suburb right on the beach and right downtown in Gexto. Bomb surf beaches and all types of cool little pubs. We went to this crazy street festival that lasted all night thurs, fri, and Sat. ridicoulously wild and fun... come visit eh

Just got back from a beautiful camping and hiking trip through Yosemite, Amazing views, rivers and waterfalls. we stayed in Toulome meadows and hiked into glen aulin and hiked out. My brothers car overheated 3X there and 3X on the way back.. but we eventually made it.

I was allowed to enter one day then we returned and they ran background checks on us and I guess I am outlawed from Canada for about 4-5 more years@!
