went wakeboarding this weekend with Tyler, Annie & Forrest. Got a little scratched up from the grip tape on Forrest's wake skate, but other than that I liked his board. I also used his Byerly wakeboard & Annie's Gonzales wakeboard & I'm sold on both of them. Annie tried her first slider & I was spotting for her - she was boardsliding it on her 2nd pass, yeah! Got to try out my new Rip Curl wetsuit & found out what an incredibly awesome suit (and deal) I got. Also used a board with gigantic surf-looking fins & did not like it. Every time I jumped the fins caught & threw me forward. I was the first person to do a raley behind Forrest's boat, yess! Though it was a raley to face plant. And not the only one I did - I did 3 face plants in a row, then a side plant, but I cleared the wake!

Despite the cold overcast weather we got out on the boat and got a 1/2 day of riding in. I tried new fins on the wakeskate first & they made it way too hard to spin, so maybe next time I'll try some really small fins. I was able to start doing small ollies on the skate, but spent most of the time trying unsuccessfully to spin. Tyler got some nice running videos of me (when the skate stuck on its fins & I kept going without it) & I had several really impressive face plants.
2nd session out I tried a bigger wakeboard than the tiny one I've been using. The bigger board helped a lot, but still no w2w jumps yet :( I did come pretty close once, but I guess I'm not sticking to my line when I cut in. Surface spins, butter slides, and riding switch are becoming a lot easier so at least I'm making some progress. Next time hopefully we'll get Annie to come down and ride with us - I think Tyler finally remembered how good I told him she is and now he's excited about the idea of having a "chick who can ride better than all the guys" ;-)

Spent Labor Day weekend in San Jose visiting my brother & his wife, & my friend Ray. We went to Santa Cruz Sunday to surf, and the same thing happened that always happens when I try to go surfing...there was no surf! Well there were small waves, but they weren't worth paying for. If we had our own boards & wet suits we would have gone in for sure for a little while at least. This makes 5 ruined surf days this summer due to dead surf. All the surf shops were having huge sales so I managed to pick up a Rip Curl wet suit & some new skate shoes, so I can turn my old ratty skate shoes into my wake skate shoes :) And maybe extend my wakeboard season a little longer since I got the wet suit, yeah, I'm not letting the end of summer stop me yet. Planning on going wakeboarding/wakeskating tomorrow!

I went wakeboarding yesterday with Tyler during my 7-hour work break. I got so frustrated because I still couldn't jump wake to wake, though I did start doing butter slides, ollies, & switch 180s over the wake. I'm using a board that's way too small for me so I think when I get my own board it'll help (hopefully). I got the old wake skate out of the boat & tried it out. OH MY GOSH I LOVE WAKE SKATING!! It was easier to get out of the water than it is on a wakeboard, but carving was uhh...hard. The board just slid around so easy, I ended up doing toeside butter slides (is that what it's called?) inside & outside the wake. If I had more time I would have tried to spin a bs 180 outside the wake, but we ran out of time. We're probably going again next week though, so I'm going to try it! I won't be able to go this weekend because I'll be in California visiting my brother and surfing, yeah baby!!
