What an incredible, life altering experience I had in Africa. I spent 10 days in various parts of Kenya working with orphan children, delivering humanitarian aid and caring for and giving them some much needed love and attention. Most of the kids we spent time with have lost both of their parents, and are living with extended relatives, older siblings, or taking care of themselves. There are kids as young as 8 who are the heads of their household. I was blown away by the kids in Africa. They are so mature, they're kind, respectful, and the thing that impressed all of us the most is how well they share with each other. Unlike American kids, the kids in Africa really appreciate everything and take nothing for granted. And they're so happy, despite everything they've been through. I fell in love with the kids there and miss them terribly, but I'll be writing to them and keeping in touch. We also did a 2-day safari which was unbeleivable. To see lions, leopards, elephants, girraffs etc. close up and roaming freely in their own, natural environment is undescribable. I had such an awesome time & thank God I was given the opportunity. I would love to go back someday.
