I'm a real snowboarder

Saturday, July 15, 2006
I broke my tib/fib last Saturday, so I now consider myself a 'real' snowboarder.  It's pretty frustrating.  I had just tried DH mountain biking for the first time and really liked it.  I've got a steel rod in my bone with some screws too.  I hear that recovery should go well, but it hurts a lot right now.  But, no snowboarding, no riding my new mountain bike, no gym, ... basically none of what I spend most of my time doing except work.  I may treat myself to one of the new XBox'es to keep me occupied.

Suprisingly, none of this has soured me on the idea of moving out to Whistler/Squamish.  I want to do that just as much as ever, and all of the ski patrols, parmedics etc. that I talked to on my ride to the hospital gave me lots of info about the area.

Sitting out the season with a broken leg! My sympathies, friend, that really sucks. I got my (first!) broken bone out of the way quickly when I first started---broke my hand in my first season! Sittin' out is no fun, but you'll be back soon. Boarding's like riding a bike as far as feel goes, so I bet you wont lose much.
