About Me

Sup Everyone.  Still a noob in the snowboarding scene.  Just picked up the sport 2 years ago (2005).  This winter has been sucking for the province of Ontario.  It has been more rain than snow, and the temperature above 0.  I am hoping next winter will be huge.   I frequently visit Blue Mount., Dagmar, and Lakeridge.  Just looking for other snowboarders to chill with.

Words of Wisdom

-Sometimes in life you are a dealt a crappy hand.  But you have to hang tough and play it through, no matter what the outcome is at the end.

My Blog: Saturday, March 18, 2006
So after organizing a trip to Blue Mountain this whole week, 2 buddies of mine decides to bail out cuz they got too drunk friday night since it was St. Patrick's Day.   The day ended up being just me and C going up.  Met up with her at the Badland Rental Shop at 9am and the conditions were awesome today.  C tried snowboarding 2 years ago, so she was eager to go back on the snowboard.   So I decided to lend her my 24/7 board while I used my Timeless.  We basically stayed on the bunny hill the whole day, just to take it easy since C was a bit rusty.   The entire day, I helped you with some exercises to get her started.  Mainly heel edge stops, then I'd ask her to go down the hill and then go into the heel edge stop.  Then after she was comfortable, she did the toe edge stops.  That was a bit harder for her.  I remember when I first started snowboarding, that was the hardest move I had to learn, and it hurt like hell.  Surprisingly, she did pretty well.  I told her not to wobble the board while going onto her toe edge and just drive the board right into the snow.  The first few attempts were a painful one for her, but she sucked it up and kept going.  By the end of the day, she got the toe edge down.  Then I taught her a little bit about linking the heel and toe edge together so she can get comfortable doing the transition, but that's as far as we went.  After doing that, she had to get going cuz of work.  I decided to go on Happy Valley afterwards.  The conditions were awesome.  Man made snow and that meant a LOT of speed.  The crappy thing is, Happy Valley was PACKED with people.  I literally had to dodge people cuz they were either carving or turning into my path, or suddenly stopping right in front of me.  So it was a bit chaotic.   When I went on Happy Valley in Feb, the speed was pretty decent cuz we had fresh pow the night before, but today, it was all machine-groomed powder.  My board just started picking up a lot of speed, and it was a bit nuts at times, but it was alright.  It was definitely a nice feeling.  I just got to remember when I'm carving on my toe edge, I have to bend my knees a bit more, since sometimes I tend to extend my legs instead of bending them.  It was hard to absorb the various bumps like that.  But yeah, today also marked the end of my snowboarding season.  It sort of sucks, but I'll be busy for the next few weekends and I don't think I will have time to snowboard anymore.  I just can't wait till next winter.   I'm counting down the days already.
