Last Sunday, I caught a toe edge, landed on my rib cage and jolted the
f@#!!ckout of my head. Results? One complex concussion that's taking 2 weeks out of my riding time!!!
First concussion I'm aware I ever had. The only "sports" before snowboarding were ballet and racketball for me.
In hindsight it's kind of funny. I didn't even hit the head, just jolted it. But for two straight days after the fall, I could not stand up without falling down again. Had a CAT scan, but no swelling or bleeding, just dizzyness, lack of balance and a fluctuating, killer headache.
By the time I can board again, it'll be Martin Luther King's birthday/holiday and my Creek card is no good. I'll have to goto Thunderridge Mountain and ski with the kids on schoolbreak.
Was it worth it? Hell yeah!!! I got the concussion perfecting a sweet carve, I had on a helment, I didn't take anyone out on my way down and in one more week, I will be on the mountain again!!!
