looking into transferring out to the university of utah next fall and wanted to know from the locals what part of town might be affordable for a student and close to good riding as well as classes. any help is appreciated.

also, which resort is the best for bowls and off-piste riding?

is it possible? everything i see (videos and pics) shows people ON the piste. i want to know: can i hike off and shred fresh powder on my own (with avalanche safety first)? does it depend on the area?

Im planning a trip for next winter.  I'll be studying in Huemoz (near Villars) and need any advice I can get on keeping the cost of lodging down.  Which area has the cheapest chalet/ cabin rentals? How can I make this dream a reality?  I'll be there with a friend who can help split rental costs, but we need to know how much it might cost us (not a luxury condo or anything, just the bare minimum: bed+stove)

thanks
