And today was no better.
today i had to send home report cards, but...
the school ran out of paper to get them printed out
the principal who needed to sign them had left for a meeting
secretary had to skip out and get paper at lunch
principal had to be called back in
I had 15 minutes to get them printed, signed, into an envelope and into school bags, all the while dressing 23 5 year old kids for home time.
And i may be a procrastinator, but for once I had these in last wednesday... so why the hell did they take so long to get them printed? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Then I got home to relax after a stressful day, and our electronic door lock batteries had died. I had to wait 20 minutes for my housemate to come back from the locksmith with a key to let me in. It was cold. Lucky for me, I had just picked up the Snowbaord Canada mag... and some chocolate.
for those who read the rant thread, a bit redundant.. but crap, what a friggen day... I need a cuddle.
EDIT: I just found out that I was supposed to photocopy the report cards before sending them out.. now they all have to be reprinted, and resigned.. lucky for me, none of the SK teachers did it, as no one told us to. Looks like more work for me though.. again. THis week is starting out just as badly as last weeks :(

Four days straight of snowboarding = one tired Carrie. Although friday was only a night session, these past 2 days of instructing have worn me out! Yet i'm still smiling.. nothing better than getting out on the slopes .. wish I could be out there everyday! now if I quit one of my 4 jobs, I may get out there a bit more! ha!

REPORT CARDS ARE DONE!!
I'm going boarding Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday :)
Report cards are almost done (due on wednesday) AND i got out on the slopes saturday night and sunday morning!! Started instructing at the local bump.. tons of fun... and I heart that my instructor's jacket has thumb holes. I heart thumb holes. I heart winter! It seems to have been snowing non stop for 4 days! I'm so damn excited!
Days/nights riding this year, so far: 8 + 1 day instructing
Days/nights TOTAL last year: 17...
I think i'm doing pretty good this year considering the lack of snow on the EC!! :)

I have managed to procrastinate away yet another morning.... I use the excuse that I am sick. However, now I am sick, late with report cards, and just got a msg about starting to instruct at the local hill tonight. What is a girl to do?? I know what I should do... get to work on the reports, and not go boarding so that I can get better. But, that's just no fun now is it?

So I went riding on Sunday with a fellow sb.commer and on the way back, i used a sentence containing the word 'hafting'. To which the reply was: that is not a word. I went on to explain, that it was infact a word.. i am sure of it. Here is my logic.
I hafta go to the mall. translation- I have to go to the mall
I was hafting get some. tanslation- I was having to get some.
So you see, havfting is a sort of contraction of the words having and to. Not a REAL word, but a slang term used in convos.. nothing that i would allow my students to write. If they could write... but I digress... anyway, now Craig tries to use it in a sentence. He failed miserably. Being the teacher... i had to correct his use of the word. Instead of admiting he can't use the word, he says 'Not only do you invent words, you get pissed off when people don't use them gramatically in a sentence? You need to make a post about this on sb.com... words that aren't words...' And so here it is.
I actually went home and called my sister up North to ask her why i use this word, and if she uses it... the answer.. no. So why do I come up with these random words, and subsequent grammatics? Maybe it's because i can't spell, or type (there's the case of the poker night wuick typo, that actually became a common word used in the EC forum for a bit. wuick= wicked quick, thanks to Zee for hte definition), or maybe it's just that I really like to invent words... All i know, is that i made sence at the time to use it as a word.
so tell me, what words have you invented recently.. and what do they mean.. do you have special grammatics for them? Do you believe that hafting is really a word? would you use it??
Why is it that the week of work after 2 weeks of holidays always seems to be THE longest week of the year?
I'm so happy it's the weekend.. time to grab a cold one, throw RoShamBo in the DVD, and relax!
Here's to hoping the weather stays cool and that I can go boading Sunday :)
ps.if you're on the EC, check out the tentative Screw Mother Nature sb.com meet we're trying to get together!http://snowboard.colonies.com/forums/topic/20970/ Hope some of you crazies can make it out there :)

Well here's a bit of a run down of my 2 weeks of holidays.... in no particular order.
*Getting my CASI level 1 snowboard instructors cert... and my instructor reminding me about my constant movement by using a 'stripper pole' attached to my board. This was after 3 other analogies didn't work.. should I be worried that the stripper one did?
* Going for one last drink with Mikey before he headed out to BC, with Craiggers and my sister.. and Mikey telling her about the sb.com calendar!!!!!!!! Then us all getting drunk, having to stay at Mikeys, and her finding a copy on the coffee table... her reaction, 'why am I not surprised to see you sleeping with your board'
*Going to the bar, and the bouncer taking a long hard look at my ID, only to say "you're really not that old are you?" Yeah actually I am, thanks!
*My Dad and I going through 3 bottles of Bailey's Irish Cream... yet we only had it for Breakfast. Start your day drunk seemed to be the motto of the past 2 weeks!
*My sister's best friends little brother giving me a hug at the end of a night on the town and saying 'you're cuddly, wanna come home with me?'. And my sister and her friend thinking it's a good idea. Um, no thanks, no one under 20 please!
*Drinking and entire 40 of vodka on new years eve... and celebrating new years for 4 times zones... yet waking up without a hangover, so drank all day again! Red wine this time.. it was my gram's 80th birthday and she wanted us all drunk. :)
*My sisters and I trying to figure out what to do for new years, only to realize that all off our friends were out of town. April managed to convince some of her Toronto friends to come up, but a pretty mellow night! Well, besides the drinking games, and carmen electra striptease vids!!
*No snow meant we had to cancel our beer-boganing for the first time in years!!
Hope you all enjoyed your holidays!!! :)
