It's saturday, over a week after I first left for my Northern adventure. And I've finally stopped procrastinating enough to get this blog done!
On thursday teh 9th of March, I was to meet my friend Betsy in Peterborough at 6.30 to head up to Sudbury to meet up with AddictiveEscape at my parent's house. However, due to some fog in Milwaulke, Besty's flight was cnacelled, and all plans were changed. I ended up heading to the airport to meet Betsy at 11pm, then driving to sudbury.. we arrived at about 4am. Now Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but I felt bad for Chris who had been at my parent's since about 8o'clock waiting for us. Good thing they took care of him for me! ha!
The weekend went off with tons of little incidents, but was a great sb.com meet up in Searchmount! I'm not going to add any details.. if you want to know about all the mishaps, you can go to the Strip-Search-and-Mount thread in the EC Canada section.
The week was pretty relaxing, hitting up all the sights of Sudbury: Science North, Dynamic Earth (a mine that you can visit), and hitting the slopes of Adanac for night boarding. And as much as the hill itself is tiny and was icy, it's right in the middle of town and a 3 minute drive from my house, so it was a great last night of riding in Ontario. On Friday, we met up with some of my friends from teachers college at the local Irish pub to celebrate St-Pat's! Tons of beer, tons of music, and getting away with everything I possibly could! I actually Had a bouncer pretty much following me aroudn for a bit repeating 'Do you really think you'll get away with that?' and well apparently yes i did... stealing hats, and plants, and getting a marriage proposal and actually sitting down with the guy and trying to figure out if it would work! ha what a random night!
Then the next day, I drove with a very hung over Betsy back to Peterborough where we met with our Friend Allie (who had gone to uni with us in France as well) and her boyfriend Niel to catch up and have a few drinks. Betsy drank water. We managed to meet more randoms at the bar, as everyone who finds out Betsy's from Kansas seems to tag along to hear stories and talk to a real american! tehehe
Sunday, last day of break.. very lazy day, breakfast, some shoping, and watching the video from all our week's adventures! ha, the things she documented, wow, that is going to be some great blackmail material some day! haha Monday I drove Betsy to Toronto for her flight then headed back home to finish planning some lessons.
Now back to work... in the past 3 days alone i've had a kid projectile vomit in class, another 'accidently' punch a friend in the face resulting in blood pourring all over the desk, chair, floor, and to top it off, yesteday all my french classes were cancelled so that I could be the 'supply' teacher for the grade 6 class as they didn't have a teacher. I'M happy I get a break midweek for a conference I have to attend! and i'm even happier that I only have 13 teaching days left until Whistler!!! woohoo!!
