Speed is my friend

Surrounded by the magic of a golden age,we complain when a flight is delayed.We place people on the moon, and bemoan the snowy television image. Snowbound in winter,we snarl at the size of the strawberries.It seems that if we cloak ourselves in any wonder long enough,boredom and ungratefulness inevitably creep in.Yet amazement is still around if we search for it.Mountains and sunsets can thaw the most jaded sense of awe. Bridges arching across roaring rivers, or buildings reaching towards the heavens,are a testament to our sacred ability.Why not just take the world as it is?Why not just choose the path of unimpressed maturity?Why gawk at achievements which have become so commonplace?Amazement is a tool for setting personal goals.That which awes us, incites us.That which we know to be great, sets the standards against which we will measure ourselves. If we stand in awe of nothing, then our greatest achievements will be diminished even in our own eyes.
