The final day of snowboarding at Stylewars was held under perfect Australian skies without a breath of wind.

The riding standard was beyond ridiculous, the course was softening in the hot sun and tricks were getting thrown that have never before been seen on snow down under.

Leading the charge today was a man on a mission, last year’s grand master Torstein Horgmo (NOR) who was sending massive smooth tricks with rarely a hand out of place. He took out best trick with an insane switch backside 1260 melon deep into the landing of the first jump.

“I wanted to try the 12 and I got it around so I was pretty happy about that and I got the front ten a lot better and a few mellow fives. The jumps just got better and better everyday… everyone was killing it, we couldn’t have had a better day.” Torstein said.

The overall winner of the event was Canadian Charles Reid who dominated for the entire three days of the gruelling event that included today. Charles fresh from winning the 28 Stair rail event presented by Volvo last night powered on today with a slew of 1080’s, rodeos and a consistent style that had him pushing out fellow Canadian Matts Kulisek for the win. Matts finished 3rd behind Torstein.

Charles rode through a bruised heel injury with only the win in mind. “My heel is alright, but it just hurts really bad when I land on it. We had 20 minutes left of the competition, it hurts so bad but I just had to keep riding.” Charles said. “Usually in a contest its spin to win but with the rider judging I’m going to vote for style for sure, Shayne Pospisil (USA) and Robbie Walker (AUS) were riding insane.”

After the riders vote was tabulated into the results Shayne Pospisil ended up 4th overall and had this to say. “The standard was so high it was motivating me to step it up and throw down. Everyone was stomping everything. For the riders vote I was looking for just who was smooth over the three days.”

Chas Guldemond after knocking himself out heavily in NZ flew into Stylewars at the last minute to compete and take 5th overall. His result moves him into first place on the overall standings of the Swatch TTR World Tour.
“It’s only the second comp of the year so I’m sure Charles Reid will be biting at my heals after this contest… I wanted to come in to Stylewars and check out the contest, slow it all down a bit and enjoy the contest and focus on my style. I’m going to take this as a good base for practice for the start of the season.”

In the coveted Bledisnow Cup competition between Australian and New Zealand, the Australian team stood strong today with incredible riding from Ryan Tiene, Robbie Walker, the Allan brothers and 15 year old Jye Kearney who was whiskers away from stomping 90-foot front ten tails. One to look out for from Down Under.

“Snowboarding is great for the Aussie scene cause we get a lot of amazing riders down here for it and get a lot of publicity out of it and more and more riders are hearing about, it’s a good thing for sure.” Ryan Tiene said.

Snowboard.com News: Stylewars 2008 - Day 2

Stylewars 2008 presented by Oakley.

August 24-28, 2008

Falls Creek Resort, Australia.

French Canadians Matts Kulisek and Charles Reid continue their dominance at Stylewars during day two of competition at Falls Creek Australia.

Strong winds, scattered clouds and a riders vote meant that today the Stylewars course was restricted to the bottom feature of the park – the gap jump. The jump had been re-shaped last night to give some more pop and allow the riders a little more hang time. The level of style and tricks definitely stepped up today at Stylewars with the help of the course fine-tuning from head park builders Rueben Cameron from Australia and Doug Mercer of Mammoth, California.

Matts Kulisek (CAN) was again throwing down all day with consistent incredible tricks over the gap like backside rodeo nines and frontside 1080’s. His slaying of the jump pushed him to first place today and number one in the overall standings of the three-day freestyle marathon.

Charles Reid (CAN) was bumped into 2nd position by his countryman Matts, but his slew of 1080’s, nines and smooth fives held him solidly in striking position for the win on the upcoming final day.

“Usually in a contest the guys who spin the most win, but I have been spinning some big three’s and seven’s and I was winning yesterday, so I think it’s a great comp - you don’t have to do a 1260 or something to win.” Reid said.

Tyler Chorlton (GBR) threw the most interesting trick of the day with a nollie front-flip nose grab but was not to be outdone by Kiwi Quentin Robbins who launched a one foot indy over the high-speed gap kicker.

In the hotly disputed Bledisnow Cup, which is an Australia v’s New Zealand comp within Stylewars. Australian riders took out day two, led by acting team captain Ryan Tiene and team mate Mitch Allan. New Zealand and Australia are now tied at one day each with New Zealand just ahead in the points.

Tonight at Stylewars the party continues with a special showing of Travis Rice’s new film That’s It That’s All followed by infamous Australian hip hop act Bliss&Eso who will no doubt tear the bloody roof off. Hangovers assured for all tomorrow.

The third day of Stylewars competition is planned for tomorrow, and includes the Volvo 28 Stair Rail Jam to be held in the evening under lights in Falls Creek Village.

The 2008 Stylewars is presented by Oakley and is supported by Falls Creek Resort, SilverSki Lodge, Corona, Red Bull, Volvo and New Era.

Snowboarders hoping to have their sport included in 2014 Paralympics.

By Andrew Mitchell

If you build it, they will come — at least that’s what organizers of the first ever adaptive snowboarding World Cup event, sanctioned by the Canadian Snowboard Federation and World Snowboard Federation, are counting on.

The race took place on Blackcomb last Friday, with racers making three solo descents of the snowboardcross course — a format that was chosen because it combines elements of racing and freestyle, and because all of the athletes prefer soft boots to hard boots.

Although organizers were hoping for a larger and more international field, everybody knows you have to start somewhere.

“History was made — it was done and done well,” said Christian Hrab, head coach for the Canadian Snowboard Federation’s adaptive snowboard program. “The event was perfect, it was really safe and fast, we had a good course set, and good work on the course, and the athletes rode the best I’ve seen all season.

“It’s a beginning, but it’s also the culmination of two years of work, while it’s also the beginning of another 20 years of hard work. We’ve got the athletes, we’ve got a classification system for all the different disabilities, there are camps and programs, and there are starting to be more coaches. (Adaptive snowboarding) is also getting a lot of attention, because snowboarding is really for everybody — not just the elite World Cup athletes, but also for people with physical disabilities that can still participate and be very good at it too.”

There are plans to host three World Cup snowboarding events next season, including a competition at Cypress Mountain during the World Cup test events in February, and events in Italy and France.

However, while the sport has momentum it’s extremely unlikely that adaptive snowboarding will be included in the 2010 Olympics. But Hrab says things are looking better for 2014, providing all of the organizations involved internationally can work together to increase participation and create an international series.

While that may be discouraging for some athletes, Hrab says his athletes are in it for the long haul.

“I’ve worked with able-bodied athletes with the national team for years, and I can say that these (adaptive) guys are the most positive, constructive, forward-thinking athletes I’ve ever met,” he said. “They’ve overcome some huge obstacles to be here already, which make the little things easier to overcome. They can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and they know that this is just the beginning and where the sport is heading.”

The next challenge for adaptive snowboarding, which was addressed at a conference and workshop surrounding the World Cup, is networking.

“We have to reach the people who snowboard recreationally with a disability, and get them into a competitive frame of mind,” said Hrab. “Events like this create awareness, and get a buzz going. People who never thought of competing will see it and say ‘I’ll do it.’”

Ian Lockey, who was second in the men’s event with a time of 59.15 seconds — almost three seconds back of Whistler’s Tyler Mosher — was excited to be part of the event.

“I really enjoyed the race, and having us race in a time trial instead of a boardercross was much better and much safer in the end,” he said. “I think the format is a little more spectator friendly, definitely more interesting than watching us wiggle down the course in a parallel giant slalom, and you can actually see people snowboarding, going up, coming down, and ripping around corners.”

Lockey is classified as an incomplete paraplegic, meaning he sustained a spinal cord injury that has reduced his feeling and mobility below the waist.

Riding a snowboard around the corners without full feeling for your edges can be a scary experience, he said.

“It is scary going onto your edge and being on edge, and having to rely on what you don’t have to hold on,” he said. “You can only hope you adapted well enough to survive the turn and not wind up in the fencing.”

Lockey plans to race in the U.S. Amateur Snowboard Association nationals at the end of the month, where he is the reigning PGS and freestyle champion, and will race all three World Cup events next season. If there’s a chance that snowboarding will be in the Paralympics in 2014, he wants to be there.

“Having events like this is great incentive for me to train more and do some off-snow training,” he said. “I’ve always relied on my snowboarding abilities, but as our coach said it’s one thing to get beaten by a better snowboarder than you, but it’s another to get beaten because you’re fat or unfit. It’s tough love, the only way to go.”

Bibian Mentel came from Holland to race in the first World Cup, winning the women’s category.

“I loved it, it was so much fun being here and riding the course,” she said. “It’s really, really nice for the level we’re riding at right now, and it’s just fun.

“Now we may have three World Cups next year, which would be exciting. I think it’s a good thing that adaptive snowboarding is getting more attention, that people with disabilities are going out and having fun, and I think we need more and more competitions to get into the Paralympics.”

Mentel is 35, and is not sure she’ll still be racing if snowboarding is added to the schedule for 2014, but she’s definitely not ruling it out.

“I love riding, and if I feel the same way then as I do now, I might have to race,” she said.

With a classification system, each competitor’s time was adjusted slightly to compensate for their specific disability. This was the first test of a classification system for snowboarding, and judging by how close the times were it went well.

Tyler Mosher posted the top time of the day, 56.3 seconds, making good use of some time off training for the Para-Nordic 2010 team to get some runs in on the snowboardcross course. Lockey was second in 59.15, and Mike Fisher placed third in 64.78.

For Mosher, winning was less important than showing up.

“I feel like a million bucks, it was really a dream come true,” he said. “After my accident (in 2000) there wasn’t anywhere for disabled people to compete. I’m so happy right now — not so much for winning, although I trained hard and I’m proud of it — but because we were laying the groundwork for all the children in the future that want to snowboard and that are living with a disability.”

For adaptive snowboarding to be successful, Mosher says the important thing is to get national organizations around the world involved and supporting their athletes.

“The hardest thing is that it’s not a Paralympic sport right now, so the athletes are pretty much on their own and we’ve had to take a bottom-up approach to getting people involved. All we can do is keep having events, get more people out each year, and sooner or later the sport will be recognized.”

As for the quality of competition, Mosher said that there were no recreational riders in the group and that everybody was out to race and win.

“It’s not just about how many people with disabilities you can get snowboarding, but how many people in that group can be athletes,” he said.

Mentel’s best time was 61.62 seconds, followed by Emily Cavallin in 63.5.

Zach Beaumont raced alone in the youth category, posting a time of 69.82.

March 10, 2008

By: Tyler Ashbee/Stuart Britton

Hi all. It’s been a pretty ballin’ ass season for the PTTR crew. After a season filled with rain and generally crap weather last year, we have been blessed by the snow gods with dump after dump of fresh white gold. Most of Ontario just got a late winter blast over the past weekend dropping 2 feet of fresh in some areas. We have all been taking full advantage of the good conditions and everyone has been getting all kinds of shots to step up their video parts. Bomb drops, hand rails, jumps and some shi*t that you’ll have to wait and see cause it’s so different and original. Besides filming some of the riders have been ripping up local comps and killin it! Tyler Ashbee has been on a comp rampage, and he’s not even a true comp kid. He is a street monster and the local Banger 3000. Ty  recently has got 2nd place at the Dagmar G’d Up From the Feet Up, 2nd at the Kirby Rail Jam, 3rd at the Am Jam Finals at Polsen, 2nd the week before that at the AM Jam qualifiers and 2nd place at the Kirby Slope Style event. DAMN!   If you think his comp standings are good, just wait till you see his video part. Gonna be sooo good.

Boring Life
Current mood: crushed

Have you ever spent a day just waiting for that one person to send you a message or call you, only to find that they can't? This happens to me all the time. I spend day after day just waiting for a message/text/call or something from the person that i miss or want to talk to the most, but then learn that she is too busy, that his phone broke last night b/c it vibrated into the tub, or that the phone was taken away because she stayed out too late again last night.

I work alot, and it is there that I am the most bored. I sit, and wait, and constantly check my email, myspace, and zwinky...but still no messages! I wait and I wait for someone to want to talk to me, because Tyler is at work and I'm all alone in a quiet house, with no telling who could break in.

It is in these times that I wish I had a very close comrad. I have no one that I can just call. Everyone is too busy, or I don't think/feel they even want to talk to me. They may feel that I talk too much, that I am annoying,  or they may just not like me as much as I think they do. I wish that people would just say what is on their minds so that this confusion does not constantly control my life! And I know that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Also during these times of deepest lonleiness, I relive my horrid past; the past that I am trying so hard to forget. All the times that the blade was so welcoming, that those pills went down so easily, and the times I just wanted to die.I try to tell myself "hey, you're still here. God has other plans for you," but this never works. I suppose that I say it too frequently for it to even mean anything anymore, but yet I still say it.

I remember the days of my younger childhood and I look back with longing. I wish that I was still that little stress-free, playful, easygoing child, but this cannot be. I am married now, and I have responsibilities, including paying the horrendous bills, taking care of the house, and caring for my husband, all of which I sometimes wish that I never had to do. I want to again be free to live happily, I want the life that I drempt about my whole life. I suppose that it is too late for that though. The very thought of a carefree life seems so distant to me that I am not even sure it is humanly possible.

I also wish that I had friends that cared to hangout everyonce in a while. Of course it is a little different with so many of them living in different places, and that makes it hard to get together, but for those that are usually right here, I would like to go to a movie, or clubbing or something fun and exciting. At least then my life would not be the same, boring, repetitive game that it has been for nearly a year.

But dream are just that, dreams. They rarely come true. So here I sit, my back to the wall, awaiting a day that my life may change.

What is Love?
Current mood: distressed

Love...is it overrated? or is it underrated?

i believe that most people find that it is overrated, but let me speak! I found love, in the eyes and arms of my husband. Even after a painful heart break or two, he came to me in the mists of dispair and misery. He lifted me above the dark abyss and led me to safety when i would have jumped. Death was so welcoming, as I groped for a chance to stay alive. Half of me was torn down into deep hate and regret, and everyother bad feeling ever known to man, while the other half was fighting for air, trying not to drown in the loss and the hurt. Nothing hurts like a lost love, but at least I had that short time with him. Even if I was to lose my husband tonight, I would survive with the hope of finding another love, another to care, and with the love of my family and my friends. I have faith that they and God will not let me down. I wasted so much of my life in depression, that I missed out on many happy moments and happy memories...I was too wrapped up in my sorrow to care about others' joy. I was too blind to notice that my aloofness was hurting the one's I held closest and dearest to my heart. For this I would like to say..."Mom, Dad, Daniel, and all the many others that I have hurt, I am eternally sorry for the misery I so unknowingly put you through. It was unnecessary pain and unneeded worrying. As you can see, I am better now. Thank you for your support through those times that only you will know about. Please forgive me."

Now that I have released that burden, let me continue by saying that love is not only something found once. I found love in the welcoming arms of two men. For the sake of my marriage, I will not say who the first and only other true love I found, but I will say that I will not forget what he meant to me and how he led me to become the woman that I have become and that I am still growing into. Only a select few will know of whom I speak...and I hope that I have not already said too much to let him know who he is. But I thank him everyday that I remember what he has contributed to my life.

Sure, the pain is horrendous, but, well, better to have loved and lost right? After all, the pain is a growth, the shaping of who we have been and who we will be. All of those we have lost will never be forgotton, but even still, we need to move on, if not for our health's sake. Dwelling on the past will bring pain, unnecessary hurt that can be forgotton. I don't want to forget the boyfriends and the hurt and the depression, but I also don't want to live on a dream that I think might come true. Every princess dreams of her prince, and believe it or not, every prince dreams of his princess, but few realize that the one they dream about may be the girl/boy next door. I have known my husband for over fourteen years, and I am only eighteen now. And I never lost sight of Tyler from the moment I realized that I liked him. I'm not sure when that like progressed into love, and who knows...maybe it hasn't. Maybe, I made a misake in getting married. I often feel that I threw myself into something I really didn't want to do. Howver, that may just be the negativity of my family, telling me that I only got married to get out of my parent's house. To an extent, that is true, but I have always loved my mom, my dad, and espcially my brother. I regret daily not getting to watch him bring his first girlfriend home, letting him cry on my shoulders when it ended badly, and getting  to stand up for him in high school. That is one thing I have dreamed about since I was little. I love my brother, and I want the best for him. And if someone hurts him unduly, then I will jump in the car, drive to Perryton, and stand up for him just like any other loving older sibling would. I am one of the few lucky ones in this circumstance, but that is a different story.

My point is, there are times that I want to take it all back and move back into my father's house. I'll take all of the yelling, the punishment and the emotional abuse and live with it like I should have. I grew up way too fast, and I don't recommend it. It truely sux. I hate having bills, house payments, loan payments, repairs, and everything that I have to watch for...seeing as I am now a "house" wife. Love is not only an emotional feeling, but a bond between two people, and this is what so many do not understand. It's not sexual attraction, it's not that feeling you get when you think of a person, but it is the great vastness of your feelings for a person, usually of the opposite sex. These feelings go beyond a quickening of the heart, clammy hands, shaky knees. It is the greatest gift that God could give to two people. It is not Lust, it is not Sex; it is simply what God says it is...it is loving, kind, and every word.(i can't think of them all right now) It is the feeling you get when he/she smiles, laughs, kisses you, hugs you, and even the way they get mad at you. Lucky for me, I have experienced this great feeling twice, and lost once, but I did not give up...I found another.

Basic info, where were you born, where you living,  age, and sponsors?

I was born in Leduc Alberta February 5th 1984.... that would make me 23. I ride for Billabong, Sapient, Smith and Level Gloves.

How has your season treated you this year?

My season was awesome. I rode a lot of pow. A couple minor injuries but that's ok. It’s a part of the game.

You have a sled yet?

Ya, I got a 99 Summit 670. I LOVE SLEDDING.

Do you plan on getting more into the backcountry next year?

Ya ... All I want to do is sled. Its so much better then snowboarding anywhere I've been.

Give me a percentage breakdown on your snowboarding: contest, traveling, urban missions, filming, backcountry, mellow shredding (park), whatever floats your boat, etc.....

35% Backcountry

25% Whatever Floats

15% Urban Missions

10% Contests

10% Park

5% Traveling

Plans for the summer?

Work, try to make money to buy a truck. Of course hit up camp a bit, hit a few street rails in Van, and skate and wakeskate whenever possible.

Rail missions in winter or summer? Why?

I like rail missions in the summer mostly because Vancouver never gets snow and if they have snow that usually means that the mountain is going to be so much sicker than some street rail.

What do you do to get the bills paid?

I drive taxi for Resort Cabs here in Whistler... if you ever need a cab Request Warren.

Who do you ride with?

Anyone that calls me in the morning.

What pisses you off?

Waiting for people, sleds that don't work, negative people, people that back out of missions, cops and Rent-a-cop’s.

What gets you pumped?

Good Friends, Good attitude, Good Conditions, Good music. Anything good.

Shout outs?

Shout out to Risto at Billabong, Chris at Smith and Level, Spencer at Sapeint, Todd and Brad at the Summit, Slizzy at Gnarcore, Tyler, Ryan Conway, Chase Conway, Mr Jack Crompton, all my friends, my Mom and Dad, Jess and Court and anyone else that has helped me out over the years. Thanks!

if you don't know. CAPiTAs TYLER LEPORE loves bikes. In fact word has it he's opening his own Bike shop in east vancouver.  With the environment on the brink, cycling as a means of transportation could'nt be any more pertinent.  DandG thought they'd stop by his Vancouver home, say hi, sip some tea and get D's bike ready for the summer.

The Step it Up series brought to Whistler a new bread of event bringing guest speakers into a bar environment to educate the young hip and cool crowd of Whistler about different themes relating to the protection of our environment including the wellness of our own body, mind and spirit.

Surfrider Foundation in WhistlerLike it’s previous events, Hilltrip’s goal with the Step it Up series was to fight global warming. With an event every month from November 2006 to April 2007, the series included six different educational sessions about sustainability with a global warming twist. Through the whole series, Hilltrip was able to raise $550 to benefit the Snowrider Project of Surfrider Vancouver and a lot of people learned about ways to become a better steward of the environment and themselves.

Starting with a Sustainable Mountains Session in November , Step it Up no1 sent a strong message to the snow sport industry by having Jonaven Moore, a renown professional snowboarder, do a presentation on global warming and how negative PR is affecting our understanding of the issue, well timed after Tyler Bradley, the environmental chemist behind the creation of the first environmentally friendly ski wax in the world; Hillbilly Wax-Works & Ethica Enviro-Wax who had a satirical look at the state of the snow sport industry itself.

DJ Mat The Alien in WhistlerStep it Up no2 being close to Christmas, Hilltrip thought educating people about how making informed choices during the holiday season would help them reduce their environmental footprint and be good for their own body environment and organized a Sustainable Food Session. The session covered the concepts of SLOW food with Diana Rochon, RAW food with Sarinda Hoilett, SUPER food with Randall Carpenter and there was a slide show to give ideas to people on how they can green their holidays.
If you are interested you learn about how you can GREEN Christmas Holiday click here >>

Yoga in WhistlerFor the third Step it Up, we decided to do something a bit different than the usual sustainable environment type event by having an Awakening Session and introduce a spiritual approach to sustainability. We believe awareness and consciousness can play a big role in improving someone’s life and the world. For the occasion, we had Kelly Oswald of The Oracle, Tina James of World Yoga Within and Robbie Dagg & Friends with OM MANI PADME HUM.

The fourth session was done in conjunction with Surfrider Vancouver. The theme was Sustainable Watershed and Pina Belperio of Whistler Water Watch and June Van Der Star of Surfrider did great presentations followed by a Sea to Summit, a video where snowboarders, skateboarder, and surfers are talking about the entire hydrological cycle and how it relates to their day to day life. Following the session, we had the Enviro-Mental Showdown Party following the qualifier of the Showcase Showdown, an annual snowboard competition.

The fifth one was a Sustainable Energy Session and we had Sarah Valentine giving a few tips on how we can reduce our energy consumption easily and than Hilltrip went all out and presented 15 documentaries about energy and climate change over 2 days as part of the Sierra Club Energy Film Festival.
You can read more about the Energy Film Festive by clicking here >>
Step it Up in Whistler
As a way to end the series, Hilltrip teamed up with a bunch of local artists to present an Expression Session on Earth Day, April 22nd, and the last day of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) this year. Kostaman & The Vibrations opened at 7pm with a few reggae songs, Angie Nolan and MollyFi followed with poems and spoken words, Daniel Poisson, Chris Dyer, Olivier Roy, Jon Parris and Stan Matwychcuk had art pieces on display, Chili Thom & Feet Banks came to show their short film “High in the Mountain”, Animal Nation did a few raps, and Rainbo performed a hula hoops go-go set to the sound of DJ Parris. During the evening we also had the OxyMoron Martini, a heathy martini containin FrequenSea.

This last Step it Up event was also the launch of Green.Colonies.com in Whistler! It is also during that event that the winner for the Surf trip, the Option Snowboard, the SPY goggle and the O’Neill goodies were draw. There was so much going on, it was a great way to close the festival and the series in beauty.

Thanks to Whistler Brewing Company, Clif Bar, O’Neill, Deep Snow and Surf Experience, Option Snowboards and Spy for sponsoring the Step it Up series, Maxx Fish Bar & Lounge for letting us host the series, Surfrider Vancouver for setting an information table at each event, the speakers and artists for their performances and inspiration as well as all the people that have helped make this series of event happen…Nadia Cote, Marie-Lou, Giselle, Haley, Elexa, Sarah, Andrew, Adrian and all of those who came.

My Blog: Taco Bell
By: cetra70

After our church service, we had lunch at Taco Bell. I think I ate 4 tacos...2 soft, 2 crunchy...and they were good...Except that now I'm starting to regret it cuz my stomach is going berserk...but that might be because of the ice cream we bought at Jiffy Treet. Jiffy Treet has really good ice cream (slushies, etc, etc), so next time you pass by it, go try some...

After that, we went home and I went to the computer straight away...So here I am now, typing this...procrastinating...NOT GOOD...bad habit! MUST BREAK!

Well, you can't blame me for not wanting to learn all 42 presidents...but I've had some progress: I mememorized the first 8 in one minute :D Woot!

Okay, gotta get back to studying the presidents...cya!

My list of memorized presidents:

1) George Washington
2) John Adams
3) Thomas Jefferson
4) James Madison
5) James Monroe
6) John Quincy Adams
7) Andrew Jackson
8) Martin Van Buren
9) William Henry Harrison
10) John Tyler
11) James Polk
12) Zachary Taylor
13) Millard Fillmore
14) Franklin Pierce
15) James Buchanan
16) Abraham Lincoln
17) Andrew Johnson
18) Ulysses Grant
19) Rutherford Hayes
20) James Garfield
21) Chester Arthur
22) Grover Cleveland
23) Banjamin Harrison
24) Grover Cleveland
25) William McKinley
26) Theodore Roosevelt

37) Richard Nixon
38) Gerald Ford
39) Jimmy Carter
40) Ronald Reagan
41) George H.W. Bush

YAY! I did it! :D That---was---so---annoying! RAWR! Wish me luck on the pre-test...

Lil bit'o news -

As you may know, this past weekend was the Telus Triple Challenge at Blue Mountain (www.bluemountain.ca) in Collingwood, ON.  And as usual the event was sick.  Lots of stunts were thrown down, lots of dance steps were learned and improved and in a lot of case made a mockery off...but it's all good, it's about the fun not if you look like a drunk elephant on the dance floor or not.  Opps...got off topic there.  Our girl Danielle Brown who has been killin' the comp series this season got herself a 2nd place finish in Ladies' Slope Style.  High fives and ass smacks all around for another good show D.  Jamie Corneal rode sick again in the Mens division and took home a 5th place overall placing.  Jamie loves comps.  Trevor Jennings is a crazy man.  That's it.  Nothing to do with anything in this entire blog.  Just he's crazy.  Oh wait, it does have something to do with it, Trev is crazy cause during practice for the big air on Sat he OVER SHOT the jump and landed alsmost flat.  In case you don't know, THAT'S F*CKIN' HUGE!  Trev unfortunately suffered a brusied ankle for his craziness but he's back riding and hitting the rails this week.  Just another piece of protective gear that Trev may have to strap on his body before he rides. He is looking more and more like a bionic man when he shreds then ever before!

I would like to be the first to announce that Tyler Ashbee is now riding for Scotties' (www.iridescotties.com) will be riding all new Ride boards, boots and binding combined with Section (www.section.com) outterwear.  Congrats Tyler.

Stay tuned party people...teaser and web site coming soon.....

My Blog.: Vans cup
By: Pelosi

Just sitting in my hotel in Reno after doing the vans cup. I got 3rd in the rail jam, pretty stoked. I got noseslide, back 270 out...tail slide front 270 out and almost a front 180 to switch 5050 to cab 180 off. Erin Comstock won, she deserved it, I was happy for her.

So I get to the airport later on today, expecting to go home to Vancouver...and i find out that my flight was booked for April 4th, not March 4th!!!! And it was a Sunday so all their flights were sold out.  booooooo.  Can't get on a flight till tomorrow morning.  I guess that's what you get when you book flights half asleep! geez.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Tyler Lepore and our RUnway Films filmer Jeff and we're heading to the Cascade mountains in washington to go for a heli trip.  My first ever helicopter trip!!! I hope we dont crash, because I am afraid of heights....not on my snowboard, but in things that I can't control, hell yeah.
It's been dumping there all week, so I suppose there will be some really good snow, but also we'll have to be really careful of what we ride due to avy danger.
Anyhooooo, peace oot and i'll update with pics soon

leanne
xoxo

Holly sh*t.  That pretty much sums up everything that happened on the Paint the Town Red Ottawa Road trip.  The crew, consisting of riders Trevor Jennings, Kyle Taylor, Kevin Scriver, Will Johnson, Alex Beebe, Tyler Ashbee, Jamie Corneal, Brock Mills photographer Rhys Hastings, film maker Adam Bialo and myself, Stuart Britton all meet up on Thursday night in the middle of a wicked snow storm and hit the extra slippery highway in Oshawa to begin our road trip to Ottawa.  (Actually we stayed in Gatineau but whatever). Our drive which would usually take 3 hours turned into a 5 hour journey due to the brutal driving conditions.  We rolled in at 3am and crashed.  Up on Friday at 730 to get some McDs breakfast and start scopping out some urban spots in downtown Ottawa.  With a bit of luck and some local directions we were able to find some amazing rails, bomb drops and some unusual urban landscape to destroy...and I do mean destroy!  The crew ripped the hell out of everything they touched pretty much all weekend.  After a long day of slaying everything we went and grabbed some dirty food, cheap beer and headed back to the hotel rooms for some epic Guitar Hero!  Not only can these guys shred they can rock the fak out!  EPIC!!!  Wall rides in the hotel were another high light of the night as well.  After a good night of chillin out we were back at it on Sat morning.  We ended up going to an amazing location and breaking up into smaller groups to get more done.  And the plan worked out great.  Some peeps hit the rails, some wall rides, some bomb drop and another a giant wall slash!  Ottawa was killed again...two murders in two days.  Sat night consisted of Le Pigale... I wont even get into it cause I could write an entire novel on just that Cabaret!  DAMN fine and out of control.  Also downtown Ottawa was a hot spot Sat night.  Sunday a few of the riders (Alex Beebe, Will Johnson, Tyler Ashbee) stuck around with photographer Rhys Hastings to shoot some more film and stills while the rest of us nursed hangovers and ate a great breakfast and headed back home.  Rhys got daring and almost died for his efforts on some gnar rock gap drop...but he's ok people...the back drop to flat couldn't slow him down.  All and all...Ottawa was a dope trip filled with amazing riding, crazy parties, good friends and a lot of fun and laughter.  Check back to Stub_Films profile for video and some photos of the trip to be posted soon.  Also make sure you check out photolishus' profile and www.photolishus.com for amazing photos shot by Rhys Hastings from this road trip and much more.

My Journal: Sandy Tyler
By: KYLE

This is what happens when you are wasted and see a young photo of yourself when you rocked a bowl cut at age 10.

Sandy had the great idea of putting a bowl on his head and taking a pair of scissors to his golden locks.

The result... a bowl cut that looks like it was cut by a weed wacker.
