Romain Straps it On

Romain de Marchi says: Stop letting the economic crisis paralyze you; don’t listen to the talking heads on TV news; don’t slow down. Your life and the lives of those around you depend on your passion and stoke.

YOU’VE NEVER HEARD ROMAIN DE MARCHI SAY ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE

MAUI, HAWAII – For a moment there I thought I was pondering the intricacies of the Universe, God, and life with Deepak Chopra – the esoteric Indian doctor, author, philosopher – not Romain de Marchi – ball-to-the-walls, huck-myself-down-any-freakin’-thing – snowboard legend.

Prejudiced with images of his suicidal rippings in epic Absinthe films, tabloid sensationalism knocking him as a party freak, and his tattoo covered body, I went into this, our first longer meeting, thinking it would turn out to be another “shoot the shi*t interview” with another fortunate, yet undeserving rider. I got adjusted, hard.

Romain on Travelling

RDM: When I travel I like discovering different philosophies and new cultures. I try to learn more and more the world. TV I don’t think is a good example to learn the world. To me it’s better to be on the terrain and figure out by yourself. That’s what I’m looking for when I go travel: meet new cultures and new people basically.

SWB: How does riding factor into your travels? Can you describe that stoke that you feel?

RDM: Well, I always… when I’m travelling, it’s not really the places you go to, but the experience you share with people. I like the fact that when I go to different resorts, I meet different people and they give me their stoke-ness of wanting to share with me their culture, their mountain and their way of seeing their mountain. That’s what I appreciate a lot when I get to see different places. So, that’s what really stokes me out.

Romain on Fatherhood

SWB: I saw your daughter Annella there. Tell me about her!

RDM: Well, she’s almost 2 years old and she’s growing up by the minute. She’s a fan of Dora as you can see on the T-Shirt and she loves her mama a lot. No, it’s fascinating, I mean, it’s ahhhh, it makes you more mature, makes you go forward in life, to be able to see your kids, the way they interpret life, to see their innocence and their soul. I think it gives you a lot of inspiration! They really inspire me.

SWB: so how did you start to feel in riding after you became a parent? Were there differences in your behavior after you became a parent?

RDM: Yeah, a lot of people said: now that you have a kid your ride should be different, you should be more cautious. Actually for me it went the other way around. I’m more crazy now than before. It really pushed me to go out there and do what I love. Now more than ever, I do it for more and more reason. First it was just for me when I was younger, but now it’s also for my daughter and my kids because I want them to feel my passion and translate that to them, so now I go out there and try to get as stoked as I can, so when I get home they can see how happy I am to do what I love to do and they can feel that. So for me it went the other way around.

SWB: interesting! So she made you live life even more to its fullest?

RDM: Even more.

Romain on the World Economic Recession

RDM: I’m not gonna say it doesn’t affect me. It affects everybody, but, I think that many people live in fear and they’re like “ohhh no, I can’t do this, I can’t do that.” People have been brainwashed with that and they’ve stopped living. I bet if each individual in the world like they did before the crisis, everything would be good, because money would still be spent, people would still be happy and do happy things and the world would still go around. Now everybody is watching TV saying “ohhh no, I can’t do this, because the TV said it’s fear, it’s economic, and it’s the world war, the terrorism and what not…” I think that’s pretty sad that people have been brainwashed like that and have stopped living just because some dude said it on TV. Of course, the economy isn’t as good now, but I think we are as much responsible for it as the people who are leading our country. I think we should keep living and everything is going to be fine.

SWB: ohh man, that’s a great insight. People paralyze themselves by listening to these so-called experts on TV and…

RDM: yeah, it’s been like that for centuries, you know like, create fear so that we can control people. I try to have my own opinion. I know times are hard, but it’s hard for everybody, but you keep living and if you can’t pay the mortgage one day and what not, then well, sell the house and do something else. The world is not going to end just like that. We have many options in life, so it’s not worth worrying about a mortgage or things like that.

Romain on Back Protection and Why Everyone Should Wear One

RDM: For sure it gives you extra confidence. If I hit a rock at least I have the Slytech 2nd Skin to protect my spine.

But I also try not to rely on it too much, because then you forget how your muscles work in your body; they are the first armor, right?

The Slytech 2nd Skin is more prevention. It’s not because I have a back protector that I’m going to launch a bigger thing. Whether I ride the resort or I jump, I always wear it in case something happens. It’s a precaution. It’s not like, “ohhh yeah, I’m just going riding the resorts, so I’m not going to put it on.” No, I put it on anyway.

Whether big jump or not, you know, now that I’m getting older, I got a family, so I kinda need to have that extra protection for me. But I’m not forgetting as well that my body is my first armor. For my state of mind it’s more uhhh… like in a car, you can have one airbag or you can have 5 airbags. Same thing with second skin: I’d rather have more airbags than just 1.

SWB: There are all kind of back protectors out there. What was it about Slytech 2nd Skin to make you choose to use it?

RDM: It’s easy to put on. It’s really comfortable to wear it. The good thing is, the foam they use, it’s really molding your back, so you really don’t feel it. I’ve tried other ones and they’re really uncomfortable. They’ve been using that for dirt biking at first. I feel pretty confident: dirt bikers get more beat up than snowboarders. When they fall, they hit the hard ground! Snow is soft. It makes you feel even better that it’s tested by dirt bike people.

SWB: How were you introduced to the Slytech people?

RDM: What went down is… basically, I got hooked up with Shred and they said, “hey, you want to try the Slytech 2ndSkin?” and I’m like “YEAH SURE!” They sent me some and I went riding and I didn’t feel it. I went riding all day and I didn’t feel it at all, “OK, wow! This is a freakin great product!” You have it on and it’s extra precaution for you and it doesn’t even bother you; it doesn’t even make you uncomfortable when you ride so I was like “yeah right on! This is a great product, so let’s do something with it!”

SWB: Would you recommend a back protector for non-professional athletes?

RDM: Yeah, I would recommend all the protection they can get. Most of the time, beginners just sit on a hump on the slope and if a skier or snowboarder just comes up from behind and BOOM, it could paralyze them. But if you have a back protector, it might save you from that. Helmet, back protectors are key.

As I left that interview, I never thought that I – as a philosophy guy living in Hawaii with all the inspiration I need around me – would have walked away with so much newfound inspiration to go for whatever I could possibly conceive of.

I want to publicly thank Romain de Marchi for sharing the inspiring stoke he collects through his experiences as a shredder, a father, a world traveler and as a free spirit (the snowboarding world’s own mini Deepak). Thanks also for believing in and endorsing the Slytech Back Protector. It took many years to develop and test, and now that it’s available to the general public we hope it will be as universally loved.

About Slytech Protection
The team and riders at Slytech Protection feel that life is best lived with maximum passion, confidence, comfort and protection (comfortable protection). We’re based around a rider's love for shredding and being free, to keep pushing the limits and to give yourself the chance to get up and ride again. Being sidelined with a bad spinal injury is the last thing we want, and so comfortable back protection is the first thing we grab.

....FOR FREEDOM!!!

“In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act. –George Orwell

The year is 1913, Woodrow Wilson is president, and powerful banking interests, who have been trying for year, finally achieved their long term goal, of silently taking control of the American government.

The first thing the did to accomplish their take over was convince secretary of state, Flan Denox, to lie to the American people, and tell them that the 16th amendment [Income Tax Amendment] had been legally ratified by the states when it was not. The bankers knew that this tax would ultimately end up in their pockets.

Because of this fraud the American people were led to believe there was a tax on their labor. Congress and the President ARE completely aware of this fraud and it was cited in a recent court case:

“If you… examined [the 16th amendment] carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states ratified that amendment.” -U.S. District Court Judge, James C. Fox, 2003

That very same year [1913] the bankers committed their second, and by far most diabolical fraud ever perpetrated on the American people, by bribing senators to pass the Federal Reserve Act, without the required Constitutional amendment. They did this during Christmas vacation, when many senators where home celebrating Christmas with their families.

And that is how the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Act came into being. They were very clever, and understood that who ever issued the money for America controlled the government.

“Give me control of a nations money supply, and I care not who makes its laws.” -Mayer Rothschild, Private Banker

President Wilson, who signed the Federal Reserve Act later said in regret:

“I’m a most unhappy man; I have unwittingly ruined my country a great industrial nation is now controlled by a system of credit. We are no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinions and duress of a small group of dominant men.” -Woodrow Wilson, 1919

How did America transform from being a truly free country with a servant government where our individual rights are protected by our Constitution, to being a country that talked about being free but really wasn’t?

The change started when the Federal Reserve came into existence, and America adopted one of the major planks of the Communist Manifesto by creating for America this central bank.

The very same people that back the Federal Reserve System also back the graduated income tax, a second plank from the Communist Manifesto.

And now our Congress so dominated by the banks, is helping them entrap people even further by passing new Bankruptcy Laws making it more difficult for the people to declare bankruptcy and get a fresh start.

“Who controls money controls the world.” -Henry Kissinger, Council of Foreign Relations

*President Bush has signed executive orders give him sole authority to impose martial law and suspending Habeas Corpus. This gives him dictatorial power over the people without any checks or balances.

*The government can jail you for life without charges, without trial, and without a lawyer.

*Senate Bill# 1873: Allows the government to vaccinate you with untested vaccines against your will.

*The FDA says: Americans do not have a right to know which foods are genetically modified.

*Congressman Sensenbrenner’s Bill (HR1528): Requires you to spy on you neighbors including wearing a wire. Refusal would be punishable by a mandatory prison sentence of at least two years.

*There are 190 countries in the world; American has bases in 130 them.

The Patriot Act permits:

*Secret FBI and police searches of your home and office.

*Secret government wiretaps on you phone, computer and/or internet activity.

*Secret investigations of your bank record, credit cards and other financial records.

*Secret investigations of your library and book activities.

*Secret examinations of your metical, travel and business records.

*The freezing of funds and assets without prior notice or appeal.

*The creation of secret watch lists that ban those named from air and other travel.

“The Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper.” -George W. Bush, Nov. 2005, Capitol Hill Blue

During the 1990’s President Clinton monitored millions of private phone calls placed by U.S. citizens. He did this under a secret program code named: Echelon. The wide spread use of wire tapping Americans during the Clinton administration proves that this practice was not started because of 9/11 but is standard procedure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new legislation for the national ID card is in and takes three to for pages to describe. It will be connected to our driver’s licenses and Social security numbers. A physical ID such as finger prints or retinal print will be on it.

This law known as the Real ID Act takes effect in May 2008. Anyone with out a card will not be permitted to board an air plain, Amtrak train, open a bank account, or enter a federal building.

The bill mandates that all drivers’ licenses contain “common readable technology. A radio frequency identification (RFID) chip will be used.

“It is time to wake up America. Those ID cards are NOT about defeating terrorism, they are all about controlling the American people.” -Aaron Russo

The latest technology for identifying people when they make purchases is the implantable chip that can be directly imbedded into human flesh. Its tiny glass capsule is about the size if a grain if rice. It contains an RFID computer chip with a coiled antenna.

Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and others have expressed great interest in being able to more closely monitor the American people. And one way to do that would be to determine who buys what and where they take these things.

Radio frequency can travel through walls, wood, the things we normally rely on to protect our privacy. For example your backpack, your pocket, anything you’re wearing or carrying.

They were talking about having reader devices in every airport, on every bus, every train, on every port and every dock.

One of the most worrisome applications of RFID is proposals to put in cash. Meaning that you’d be able to track every bank note, where it has been, who it has been issued to, and create an essence an audit trail that would essentially take away the anonymity of cash, that we enjoy today.

The ATM machine itself, as the money came through the roller device, would be reading each number. And it would know who you are; of course you identify yourself at banks or ATMs. And the ATM would tag the number, and transfer the possession name from, say Bank of America to Joe Jones.

Once every thing you do is tied down to a single number, and there is no longer the option to pay with cash, then all it takes to render you a non citizen is to simply turn you chip off. Then you won’t be able to participate in ant function in society, including buy food.

Through the implementation of the Federal Reserve System, the American citizen has gone from being a private individual who had real money, and gold in possession that was private, to a citizen who has no privacy because all money is now being digitized. They can deduct however amount of money they want out of your digits when ever they want, and they can trace you when ever they want. You’ll be at there mercy. God forbid we allow this to happen in America

“This is outrageous! I mean your talking about the government looking over your shoulder at absolutely everything you do, every purchase you make, every place you go, every company you interact with, would be recorded back to potentially the government.” -Katherine Albrecht, author of “Spy Chips”

Have we become so controlled and ignorant about our rights, that big institution and big governments can do whatever they want with us even with out our approval?

I know for certain that our founding fathers would resist to the death what is happening in America today. And I for one will not accept a national ID card. And if nobody accepts a national ID card, and nobody can board a plain without one, then let the airlines go bankrupt. And if you can’t open an account in a big national bank, then open one in a small local bank. And if we can’t walk into a federal building, I’d personally consider that a blessing.

Don’t allow these institutions to dictate to us how we conduct our lives. This is America, and we have free choice! We the people have the power not the government. The government gets its power from us, not the other way around.

Think of all the men and women that died in all our wars fighting for freedom, not Federal Reserve bankers. Do you think they sacrificed their lives so America could get chipped like a dog, so we can all have homing devices inside us? NO! This ID card is the last step before they implant us, and that is precisely the reason no one should accept one.

And you know what they’re going to do? They’re going to call in the propaganda machine, the media, and try to sell this RFID chip as if it was in everybody’s best interest.

“We shall have a world government whether or not we like it. The only question is whether the world government will be achieved by conquest or consent.” -Paul Warburg, architect of the Federal Reserve System, 1950

The central bankers of the world are working together to create a one world government. A global police sinister was the only thing George Orwell ever wrote about. Where every person on the planet Earth will have an RFID chip implant, where the bankers and the governments have access to every transaction you make.

A chip in every in everybody would be the universal monitory system, because there would be no escape from it.

Most people don’t have a clue that these unelected private bankers, actually control the governments of the world. They have actually financed and profited from ever war since World War I, without concern for humanity. The war in Iraq is an attempt by the Federal Reserve and their partner the Bank of England to control the middle east, and make it part of the new world order.

“Military men are just dumb stupid animals, to be used as pawn in foreign policies.” -Henry Kissinger

The war on terrorism is the war on your freedom.

“The bankers own take it away from them but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough money to buy it back again. However, take away the power to create money, and all great fortunes like mine will disappear and ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in.

But if you wish to remain slaves of the bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money.” - Sir Josiah Stamp, former director of the Bank of England

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years.

It would have been impossible for us to develop our plans for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But now the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march toward a world government. The supra national sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto determination, practiced in past centuries.”

-David Rockefeller, private banker, council on foreign relations, June 1991

“The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes.” -Felix Frankfuter, U.S. Supreme Court Justice

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” -Henry Ford

Now that you do understand what happened in 1913, and how it is leading to world government, the future depends on you. Will you choose freedom or slavery? Stop living in fear of your government. Government is the servant. We are the masters.

So what are you going to do about it? Join together in civil disobedience. Be willing to take part in nationwide strikes, boycotts, and marches on Washington. Force Congress to use their power to shut down the Federal Reserve. Government has authority to issue money, without paying interest to the bankers. This will take away the power to control our government from the bankers. Only vote for candidates who have signed an affidavit to shut down the Federal Reserve System and stop world government.

If you are in the military or law enforcement, remember you swore an oath to defend the American Constitution. You didn’t swear an oath to promote world government. Honor your Oath.

DONOT accept the national ID card, even if it’s your drivers’ license. We must demand that the American peoples gold be audited, and make certain that it has not been stolen. This asset must be returned to the American people.

Abolish computer voting in the state where you live. Stop being a good Democrat, stop being a good Republican, start being good Americans.

And when the media starts telling you that the country will fall apart if this is done, don’t be fooled. This is just the Federal Reserve trying to save itself. Squash it!

“I like the old idea, where you could do what you thought you could do and what you wanted to do as long as you didn’t hurt anyone.”

 -Ron Paul

If you believe in civil disobedience and wish to organize with millions of Americans in this battle for liberty, please sign up at freedomtofascism.com, and if you choose not to help, report to Central Services immediately and we will have you fitted for an RFID chip… for you own safety, of course.

”We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
-Benjamin Franklin, at the signing of the Declaration of
Independence, July 4, 1776

Blogging bubble: Generazione X
By: Freesty_Girl

Le All star?
Siamo stati etichettati come Generazione X e abbiamo dovuto sorbirci Sentieri e i Visitors, Twin Peaks e Beverly Hills ti piacquero allora, vai a rivederli adesso, vedrai che delusione).
avessimo vissuto nessun avvenimento storico.
Congratulazioni!

"...Stupidity is the enemy, Idealism is the only Hope..." Taken from Globe and Mail, DEC. 7

Nobel Prize winners are presumed to be intelligent. But why pay attention to the views of the 100 who have supported the statement above, issued to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize? Because one's perception of truth comes not from intelligence but from a sense of values. Scholarship embodies values: This was evident to Alfred Nobel, the Swedish tycoon and explosives manufacturer. In his will, he stipulated that his prizes recognize idealisk riktning -- idealistic tendencies. And what led to the Nobel Prize winners' statement? Not a sense of oracular wisdom but of obligation. Individuals who had shared the experience of discovery would likely be able to agree on a great deal more. Alfred Nobel was right; science engenders "idealistic tendencies." Why? Because the pursuit of discovery is shot through with idealism. Discovery originates in the unsupported belief that the book of creation is open to being read. So deep is this idealism that many are willing to devote the best years of their lives to the quest for discovery, though the odds against success are huge. Idealism must also triumph over the painful fact that the first to read nature's story may well be someone other than oneself. But the truth must be acknowledged whatever the hands that uncover it. Christian truth cannot be elevated over Muslim truth. Nor can accepted truth, backed by the massed armies of orthodoxy, be protected against the claims of upstart facts. One can trace the sense of "Nobel-esse oblige" to these idealistic origins. What, then, do these 100 voices say? The opening sentence is bold enough to claim that the dominant forces shaping history are rational. This was contentious when written in early July, and appeared still more so following Sept. 11. The ferocity of that attack led Americans to believe that the attackers were insane. But it came to be recognized that the sustained terrorism has its causes and purposes. The question is important, because what lies (to a large extent) within the realm of reason can (to a large extent) be countered by policies grounded in reason. Of course, the statement is as much about threats from states as from non-state groups, and about threats of mass destruction as about conventional threats. The dominant setting for conflict in each case, it claims, is a world in which the rich and the poor live in full sight of one another. If, in addition, the poor are voiceless, they may well be induced to speak through violence. Particularly so if their predicament is aggravated by the environmental carelessness of the rich. It is a peculiar folly, under these circumstances, for the rich to seek greater riches by selling weapons to the poor. Even without this, the prosperous grow ever more vulnerable. Advanced societies are complex and fragile. They operate efficiently by being open, not guarded. Like any complex mechanism, they are, therefore, vulnerable to the wrecker's ball. To avoid a tragic outcome, the statement says, we shall be forced to do what we should have done previously. That is to recognize abroad what we have long recognized domestically: the right of all to food, shelter, education and freedom of expression. This is a revolution in thinking that is already under way. What is lacking, in this country as elsewhere, is a sense of urgency. A Chinese leader, asked whether the French Revolution was a success, reportedly replied that it was too soon to tell. But it's not too early to identify its origins: the willful blindness of the French ruling class of the 18th century. Possessed of wealth and power, they offered only promises to the poor. Unless we recognize that the future of each depends on the good of all, the coming years will bring escalating conflict. One need not be a rocket scientist to see that. But the recognition that science has thrived on change could persuade us to behave more like rocket scientists. We might even come to realize that idealism is the highest form of realism.
Nobel laureate John Polanyi, a University of Toronto chemistry professor, was involved in framing the Nobel statement above.

how can you declare war on a noun? (terrorisM)

ter·ror·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tr-rzm)
n.
The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

The War on Errorism (BY TRZ, THAT sh*t IS ME):

When it was declared that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction, the US decided to invade without bringing the issue to the UN Security Council in the first place. This is a War Crime in itself. By going around the UN to invade a country, the Bush administration has taken the world back a few decades to a Unipolar militarized situation. By doing this, their didn't have to be WMDs or WMD facilities. As long as their was something in that country to finance the conflict, everything would be overlooked. Now look at our economy. World prices for commodities are at an all time high, China has more US Treasury Bills then any other country in the world. I wonder where political relations will soften next (China is my guess) - When did the world get so filled with bull sh*t? About the same time he was elected for the first time. Personal Vandetta - Bin Laden's and the Bush's - you can't defeat a whole religion, hitler tried, and now Bush is doing the same.

f*ck America and all we have come to be. Post 9/11 has been__________________________ (insert comment)

INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION ARE FUN! TRY THIS ON YOUR FRIENDS:

-So, do you think that the GDP per capita in South Africa went down by .25% last fiscal year due to George Bush's diplomatic position on eco-terrorism?

YOUR FRIEND SHOULD REPLY WITH THIS:

-Indeed, you present a preplexing statement, more or less a question. I shall ponder this inquiry with exceeding attention so the answer may present itself.

This was in this months adbusters (#49)...I really liked it...

The risk that you will die from a terrorist attack is, on average, bundles in with such hazards as bee stings and lightning. There would need to be an attack with the magnitude of September 11 every second month to keep up with the murder rate, and more than monthly to compare with auto acccident fatalities. Other dangers might be higher on our minds as well, like the fact that in June, American suffered its worst single month of torandoes on record-a widely prediceted outcome of global climate change. Some people feel a sense of urgency about these ongoing crises; we know these people as "paranoids." Then there are those who promote a perpetual fear of the invisible, unpredictable and largely unstoppable threat of terrorism. Those are people we call "patriots."

>From Terry Jones (formerly of Monty Python)
>
>Sunday January 26, 2003
>The London Observer
>
>I'm really excited by George Bush's latest reason for bombing Iraq:
>he's running out of patience. And so am I! For some time now I've
>been really pissed off with Mr. Johnson, who lives a couple of doors
>down the street. Well, him and Mr. Patel, who runs the health food
>shop. They both give me queer looks, and I'm sure Mr. Johnson is
>planning something nasty for me, but so far I haven't been able to
>discover what. I've been round to his place a few times to see what
>he's up to, but he's got everything well hidden. That's how devious
>he is. As for Mr. Patel, don't ask me how I know, I just know - from
>very good sources - that he is, in reality, a Mass Murderer. I have
>leafleted the street telling them that if we don't act first, he'll
>pick us off one by one.
>
>Some of my neighbours say, if I've got proof, why don't I go to the
>police? But that's simply ridiculous. The police will say that they
>need evidence of a crime with which to charge my neighbours. They'll
>come up with endless red tape and quibbling about the rights and
>wrongs of a pre-emptive strike and all the while Mr. Johnson will be
>finalising his plans to do terrible things to me, while Mr. Patel
>will be secretly murdering people.
>
>Since I'm the only one in the street with a decent range of automatic
>firearms, I reckon it's up to me to keep the peace. But until
>recently that's been a little difficult. Now, however, George W. Bush
>has made it clear that all I need to do is run out of patience, and
>then I can wade in and do whatever I want! And let's face it; Mr.
>Bush's carefully thought-out policy towards Iraq is the only way to
>bring about international peace and security. The one certain way to
>stop Muslim fundamentalist suicide bombers targeting the US or the UK
>is to bomb a few Muslim countries that have never threatened us.
>That's why I want to blow up Mr. Johnson's garage and kill his wife
>and children. Strike first! That'll teach him a lesson. Then he'll
>leave us in peace and stop peering at me in that totally unacceptable
>way.
>
>Mr. Bush makes it clear that all he needs to know before bombing Iraq
>is that Saddam is a really nasty man and that he has weapons of mass
>destruction - even if no one can find them. I'm certain I've just as
>much justification for killing Mr. Johnson's wife and children as Mr.
>Bush has for bombing Iraq. Mr. Bush's long-term aim is to make the
>world a safer place by eliminating 'rogue states' and 'terrorism'.
>It's such a clever long-term aim because how can you ever know when
>you've achieved it? How will Mr. Bush know when he's wiped out all
>terrorists? When every single terrorist is dead? But then a terrorist
>is only a terrorist once he's committed an act of terror. What about
>would-be terrorists? These are the ones you really want to eliminate,
>since most of the known terrorists, being suicide bombers, have
>already eliminated themselves. Perhaps
>Mr. Bush needs to wipe out everyone who could possibly be a future
>terrorist? Maybe he can't be sure he's achieved his objective until
>every Muslim fundamentalist is dead? But then some moderate Muslims
>might convert to fundamentalism. Maybe the only really safe thing to
>do would be for Mr. Bush to eliminate all Muslims?
>
>It's the same in my street. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Patel are just the
>tip of the iceberg. There are dozens of other people in the street
>who I don't like and who - quite frankly - look at me in odd ways. No
>one will be really safe until I've wiped them all out. My wife says I
>might be going too far but I tell her I'm simply using the same logic
>as the President of the United States. That shuts her up.
>
>Like Mr. Bush, I've run out of patience, and if that's a good enough
>reason for the President, it's good enough for me. I'm going to give
>the whole street two weeks - no, 10 days - to come out in the open
>and hand over all aliens and interplanetary hijackers, galactic
>outlaws and interstellar terrorist masterminds, and if they don't
>hand them over nicely and say 'Thank you', I'm going to bomb the
>entire street to kingdom come. It's just as sane as what George W.
>Bush is proposing - and, in contrast to what he's intending, my
>policy will destroy only one street.
>

If you buy an XBOX - you support terrorism....

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/homefront.html

Major Companies Donated Money to Al Qaeda

C H I C A G O, Jan. 30 — Believing they were giving to a reputable charity, Microsoft and other corporations donated thousands of dollars through an employee matching program to a group prosecutors accuse of funneling money to Osama bin Laden's terror network.

The donations were disclosed in court papers made public Wednesday in the federal racketeering case against Enaam Arnaout, head of Palos Hills-based Benevolence International Foundation.

Arnaout, 40, a Syrian-born U.S. citizen, is scheduled to go to trial Feb. 10 on charges of conspiracy to commit racketeering and providing aid to terrorist organizations in connection with his Islamic charity.

Arnaout, in federal custody pending trial, denies his group ever aided terrorists or other violent organizations. He has described the group as a charity helping the poor and downtrodden in Muslim countries.

Arnaout's indictment said the group had a "matching gift program" that urged donors to persuade their employers to match their contributions.

But the indictment never made clear just what was entailed by the matching program.

The reference to the corporate gifts was contained in court papers made public Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Suzanne Conlon. The papers earlier had been ordered sealed at the request of Arnaout's defense attorneys.

The Chicago Tribune had intervened, asking Conlon to unseal the papers and make them public. She ruled in response to the Tribune's motion.

The court papers quote a "Double the Donation" memo written by a Benevolence International official as naming three corporations that have donated money to the group.

"In actual fact BIF has long received direct employee donations as well as matching gifts from many firms including Microsoft, UBS and Compaq in Houston, TX," the memo says.

Microsoft spokeswoman Stacy Drake said in reply to questions that the software giant had furnished $20,000 in such matching donations to BIF "over a period of time."
