Prospect Snowboards isn't in every snowboarder's daily vocabulary and we don't have a problem with that. Being a non-corporate anti establishment board company, I guess you can say our marketing isn't awesome. Well... our commitment to making amazing snowboards is awesome. While we aren't interested in corporate subculture that comes with being a mainstream snowboard manufacturer it doesn't mean the industry isn't recognizing what makes Prospect rad.
The New Kid in Town Prospect as an up and coming board company is getting tons of leverage from people and industry publications because of our "by snowboarders for snowboarders" core culture. Coverage on Snowboard-review.com, by the SoCal Skate/Snow crew Concreteownage.com, and abc-of-snowboarding.com shows our company is winning the favor of core industry players. Among the the best programs going in snowboarding is Prospect's Design Co-op which lets snowboarders and businesses design their own custom boards. Our Co-op gives designers real access to getting their designs published without paying a fortune for an individual custom board. So far, the Co-op has made custom boards for Honey Goat Brewery and Adrenaline Power Sports for the 09/10 season.

09/10 Prospect Gear
Prospect's board construction is also a constantly evolving machine to assure our boards take the beating you dish. Our 2 year warranty proves there is no doubt about the quality of our boards, but innovation with rubber dampening, bamboo sidewalls, seamless edges, and re-engineered carbon placements gives Prospect decks a super smooth ride and consistent flex. Also, our "Tangent tech" reverse camber snowboard is an amazing park and powder deck. The real secret; our convex base. If you want a base that rides super smooth in the powder and doesn't catch on rails in the park you'll never be disappointed. If tech isn't your concern, our "Vitality" line carries the best of both worlds: Built for lighter riders and urban riding the Vitality line yells fun. Other projects coming out of the Prospect development lab demonstrate our values for hand crafted goods. Our newest Project, screen printed Logo T-shirts are made by hand will killer comfortable shirts and no 2 are exactly the same. And last, but no least, our newest product, Prospect Graphite Snowboard Wax makes you board lightning fast in all conditions. It works by conducting electricity to minimize friction with the surface of the snow. Absolutely genius and made with environmentally friendly ingredients.

This Years First Contest
So here is our newest announcement the 2009 Prospect "Tweaked Trick Competition"; Winners walk away with a Prospect Grab bag and an Interview with Prospect. Here is what you need to do; send us a short vid of your favorite trick tweaked out and oozing with rad style. Whether throwing a double cork, a Backside Boardslide, or a 180, it matters less than how insanely steezy you can make it look.
Online Orders
We are adding inventory as it comes in. All boards and soft goods are available for order and should be available for delivery. Check out our latest special!

Day 1
I was pretty nervous when I left home and took a flight to Vancouver BC. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to snowboard as good as the others, but when I went, you're organized into groups depending on your level. It was silly of me to worry, but when i did go, the campers were pretty chill so it didn't even matter anyways. Well anyways, when I landed in Vancouver, I met so many people at the airport going to Whistler Summer Snowboard Camp. When we all boarded the camp bus/shuttle I met even MORE people. During the evening, we were to meet at the mountain room (a huge room with a big screen tv). There we were introduced to all the coaches and info about the camp, like camp rules, schedual, and activites. When i got to my room, there I met my 2 roomates! They were the same level as me at snowboarding and same age too! They were also in my group which was cool. I made friends really quick.

Day 2-6

The park is siiiiiiiick. They have their own terrain on Blackcomb Mountain, with jumps, rails, boxes, and a tent that you can just chill at if you're tired or hungry. The weather felt like it was 20 degrees, it was so hot! I think that's really cool, the weather being really warm and being able to snowboard. I know what you're thinking, but no! The snow isn't all slush! There's plenty of snow and the groomers of their camp groom it everyday so it's all good. I got a pretty sick goggle tan.

Activites

Out of all the activites, I've got to say that bungee jumping was my favourite! You're there with all your friends going bungee jumping! There's other activities like wakeboarding, paintball, mountain biking, driving range/miniputt, skateboarding, indoor rockclimbing, games room/movie lounge, pool/hot tub at the hotel, tennis/volleyball/dodgeball, or just chilling at Whistler Village!

Overall, this was the highlight of my summer!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The North Face Masters of Snowboarding 2009 Tour Dates Announced by The North Face and Mountain Sports International

The North Face Masters of Snowboarding is the largest big mountain snowboarding tour in the country, with a prize purse of $45,000 and two new world-class venues

Registration is now open on www.thenorthfacemasters.com

Salt Lake City, Utah, December 17, 2008 – Now in its sophomore year, The North Face Masters of Snowboarding (TNF Masters) has become the largest cohesive competitive big mountain snowboarding tour in the country. A three-stop tour, TNF Masters is designed to cater to the motivation, talent and skill of world-class big mountain snowboarders. The 2009 tour visits Snowbird, Utah, Crested Butte, Colorado, and culminates at the ultimate big mountain competition venue of Kirkwood, California.

“The North Face Masters tour is going to be off the chain this year,” said TNF Masters Alyeska, Alaska, 2008 champion Rob Kingwill. “I am excited to be a part of the movement toward giving big mountain snowboarding competition the recognition it deserves. All three 2009 venues are world-class, and I can't wait to see what happens.”

TNF Masters features a $45,000 cash prize purse and serves as a qualifier event to the Freeride World Tour. Winners from the Snowbird and Crested Butte TNF Masters events will have the opportunity to compete in the Nissan Tram Face at Squaw Valley, California.

"Freeriding, the use of natural terrain, fall line, and innovation from riding style is the essence of big mountain snowboarding,” said TNF Masters Head Judge Tom Burt. “The TNF Masters series is designed around this and that is the reason why I agreed to become the head judge. The terrain will be delivered by Snowbird, Crested Butte, and Kirkwood. All have different flavors of terrain so each will bring its own challenges for the riders, and every rider will bring their own style and innovation to each venue. When the two mesh the best freerider will emerge.“

TNF Masters gathers big mountain snowboarding tribes from all around the world. All male and female snowboarding competitors above age 18 are welcomed to participate. Registration is now open on www.thenorthfacemasters.com.

After an hectic pre season I was ready and excited to leave to Austria with my friend Vanessa Andrieux. We go there every year to find good snow condition, I was all packed, board and bags in my trunk and as i was driving back from Barcelona it started dumping everywhere, and by the time i was in Switzerland my home mountains were covered by a good 60cm of fresh snow ! This is when we both decided to join the Demonium base camp in les diablerets (definitely the best place to stay, hang, mini shred and skate up there) and shoot a couple things home before heading to the austrian mountains. We waisted the first day looking for features to shoot along the road and at 12pm, after 3 hours driving around for nothing, we decided to go up on the mountain and shred. luckily the place wasn’t totally tracked yet, I found a couple good friends at the first chair lift, they took me to the good spot and I got chest deep for my first run of the winter !! I can’t remember a better start of the season ever ! sik ! The next day we built a kicker with Eman, Damien, Nico and Tonton not too far from the road in a safe area as avalanche danger was quite high at that time. It was fun to be shaping a kicker already. The snow was deep in the landing, the sun was shining we had a good thermos with hot tea and good meet, cheese, bread and chocolate. Family style ! After that we joined Nicolas Droz in Chatel to get a couple shots, each day we were pushing the austrian destination a bit later and we finally never made it there. That’s when my friend Annie Boulanger called, there was no snow in whistler and she jumped in the plane to come shred with me.. I was so stoked to have her here because I m always the one going to canada or US and for once I got to show my place to a good friend ! as soon as she got off the plane we called Jonas Emery who could eventually give us heads up on the conditions where he was staying.. and we ended up staying at his place for a good 4 days.. We got sik tree runs in still really good snow on our first day and it dumped overnight !! We went to Verbier the next day, same thing, good tree pow runs under the cabin, and the great thing is that no one was on the slopes before christmas ! We joined Emilien Badoux the next day for the same luck with sunshine this time! After that we headed to my home resort with my both of my parents my cousin, my boyfriend and 2 other good friends with whom we shredded all weekend.. It really felt like christmas ! This last couple of weeks were such a blast, I got to practice some Quebecquien expressions, I got to shred for the fun of it which happens very rarely, i got to stay at my grand parents cabin and the conditions were fantastic ! That was definitely my best christmas present this year.. and i wish you just as much fun and good shred !

Peanut Butter and Rail Jam 2009

Peanut Butter and Rail Jam 2009

Seria imprez jibbingowych spod znaku Volcoma ponownie atakuje Europę.

So for those of you shredders in the know, you've just been waiting to walk into your local shop to check out the Burton Hero Late Release snowboard. For the rest of you wondering what the big deal is, well this is Burton's entry into the "rockered" category.

What's that?

While I personally refer to them as rockered boards as opposed to "reverse camber", sometimes the less initiated, or non-surfer or non-wakeboarder, or cross-over skier is only used to hearing the word "camber". The result of camber in a snowboard or ski is the slight arch running lenthwise from tip to tail that you can see. When you put one on a perfectly flat surface, it rests on two spots - near the tip and near the tail - with a very small gap between the ground and the middle of the snowboard or ski. Obviously then reverse camber would be where the contact occurs in the middle and the same contact points in a traditional shape are slightly off the ground. Think of it as this shape ...(... turned clockwise versus this shape ...)... turned clockwise.....or looking sideways at a banana with its tip and tail making a frown shape versus rotating it to make a smile.

Eeegads how's that for layman tech?

In the medium of water there are tons of recreational things with rocker - including surfboards, wakeboards, water skis, kayaks, and on and on. Depending on your point of reference, riding conditions, terrain, and some other things, you can obviously have an argument for or against rocker. I haven't made up my mind which shape I like better in all conditions and all terrain scenarios like powder, groomers, park, etc yet., but I can say that I'm a firm believer in deep powder conditions.

And I don't think it's a coincidence that when you have bottomless powder turns on a snowboard that it's pretty darn close to how it feels to make the same turns on a surfboard. The sensations can be felt good in wakeboarding or even some water skiing too. It's that sensation of pushing into the snow / water and sinking but then rebounding back to the surface as the snow / water feels like it is pushing back. Making huge untracked, first tracks, powder turns down a steep bowl and then slashing into a deep, powerful "bottom turn" is heaven or nirvana or zen or whatever you want to call it. For many of the early pioneers of snowboarding - who came from the surfing world - this is the sensation that made them snowboard junkies. They could surf the snow.

So all that to simply say that I've really liked how it felt the two times I've ridden rocker in good, deep Tahoe powder.

And to make a long story short, after the huge success of Lib Tech's Skate Banana and K2's Gyrator, Burton introduces its own interpretation that it calls "V-Rocker".

So all that to say that the Burton Hero Late Release snowboard is now in stock: http://www.porterstahoe.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=215849!BUR

Snigggty snap boom crack….ahh yEAAA….  THE MESSAGE is BACK!!!

Summer, Summer, Summmer tiiiiiiiiiime is finally winding down, there have been some kickass concerts going down in Tahoe all summer I saw Pato Banton, Andre Nickatina, Rebelution, The Pyrx Band, and many others,  4th of July was off the hook! For those of you who caught the fireworks, than you know that Tahoe and Big Bear offer some amazing fireworks shows, if you didn't make it to the lakes this year, you better plan on it next year!!!! And then we had Labor Day, Thanks to everyone who came out and partied last weekend! Both Hotels were SOLD OUT and it was an amazing time!!!  IF you can't wait to get away, check out these upcoming events that you don't want to miss!!!

In LAKE TAHOE,

Tuesday September 16th – Living Legends – (Eli, Sunspot Jones, Luckyiam, Scarub, Aesop, Bicasso +more TBA) along with The Bayliens and Rise of the Revolution.

Tues September 23rd - Eek-a-Mouse

Wed Sept. 24th - Sweatshop Union

Nov 28th - "Blizzard" Pray for Snow Party at Vex Night Club
PRAY 4 SNOW!!!

And X-mas with THE GROUCH!!!
Snowboarding in Tahoe and THE Grouch! X-Mas is going to off the
HOOK!!

All of the above shows are at Whiskey Dick's Saloon a few miles from THE BLOCK. Cept the "Blizzard" Party at VEX.

Coming up in BIG BEAR,

Weekends, September 13 - October 25th - 38th Annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest, located at The Convention Center at Big Bear Lake.

AND THEN, the 1st SNOWBOARD CONTEST OF THE SEASON is BACK!!!! September 20th – Hot Dawgs and Hand Rails returns to Big Bear! Pro Jib Contest with over $15,000 prize purse!  Vendor Village, weenie roast, raffles, FREE ADMISSION! 6,000+ people showed up last year, so Book your rooms at THE BLOCK early to insure you got a spot to crash!!

Big Bear is also getting ready to open a new skate park at the community center,  be amped on that!!

SO with the 1st contest coming our way that means winter is just around the corner, and THE BLOCK has been busy preparing for THE BLOCK BOOTCAMP 2008!!  This year's BLOCK Bootcamp will be held once again in Big Bear from Nov 10-22.  We have been receiving numerous applications from all over the world and will be selecting 100 recruits to participate in THE BLOCK Bootcamp of which only 20 will be hired! The Bootcamp is a HIGH STRESS Environment and will be intense, so start training now! If you have any injuries that prevent you from completing physical tasks (ie. push-ups, pull-ups, running and general calisthenics), please refrain from enrolling as we will not be making any exceptions for any physical and mental handicaps this year!  If you were not hired last year and can physically complete the course you are welcome to re-apply for Season 3.

However, This year we are going stern on snowboarders, you MUST BE ABLE TO SNOWBOARD! We don't want non-snowboarding actors trying to get the job, just because it's a TV Show. SO if you don't own your own snowboard and gear and cant ride down the mountain, don't even bother applying!!!!!!  Snowboarding will be part of The Bootcamp, so your skills will be put to the test!

If you have already applied, don't worry your application has been received and we are in the process of reviewing them, All accepted recruits will be notified atleast 30 days prior to Boot Camp Departure Via 1st Class Mail from Marc Frank Montoya and Liko Smith.

IF you think you have what it takes to work for the Dopest Hotel on the planet, Please send a resume (include work history, address and phone #), 2 pictures, your myspace link (if you got one) and a paragraph on why you would be good for THE BLOCK to bootcamp@theblockhotels.com

This year is going to be the best year to date at THE BLOCK, Liko and G4TV have been throwing around all types of rumors for Season 3, will we be going to Japan, Whistler, LAAX or somewhere else equally as cool, we will just have to wait for this next upcoming season to find out!!! THE BLOCK Season 2, is downloadable on iTunes and X-Box Live so if you ain't seen it, go check out all the debauchery that goes down at our Hotel!! Everything from bootcamp to Aspen X-Games, Vivid Porn Stars and Spring BLOCK!!!

Also if you missed THE BLOCK, when it premiered on 4-20 you can catch it again when it re-plays again this winter or download it on i-Tunes, V.O.D., or X-Box Live.
