Went to SkiBrule on Saturday November 22. I was just happy to be riding. My new Agent ROCKS! Ski Brule on the other hand sucked. They didn't have as many runs open as advertised and conditions were not even close to even just being OK. I had some problems with skiers. I had one slam into me on purpose and another tell me to stay off of his run. lol Kinda hard to do when there is only 3 runs open on the front side of the hill. Just a bunch of ass hats. So if anybody wants to see their kids get beat down by 45 year old men in tight pants, send them to Brule. I think that was my last trip there ever, unless im in the mood for a fight. Family Hill my ass.

Cardrona New Zealand hosted the start of the 2009 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup and Japan showed the world that when it comes to halfpipe, they have the skills. Kohhei Kudoh schooled the field beating out Ryoh Aono.   As for the womans, Nakashima took gold.

Kudoh is 18 and has already had two second World Cup finishes.  2010 in Vanouver is going to be interesting for this young fellow.

Canadian Crispin Lipscomb came in third.

I found out yesterday that Saturday December 1, 2007 could possibly be the opening day at Labrador Mountain here in NY.  I looked at the webcam and they have been making snow.  I'll have to get all my gear out tonight and put a quick tune on my stick.

If you can't bring the mountain to the party,
bring the party to the mountain

Peace

Alright, so with the INCREDIBLE lack of snow around most of the Colorado mountains, it's been a tough start to the year.  Today was a nice opener of powder with Snow Mass in Aspen claiming 5 inches, Breckenridge claiming 9 inches, and all the rest claiming about 4-5.  It's much needed as all the resorts here in Colorado only have about an 18 inch base.  Here has been my riding schedule thus far:

 - Early season - Arapahoe Basin - 1 day of fun in the sun, 2 runs open and a couple boxes to jib on.  It was lame but worth the leg warm up for a couple hours.

 - Season openers - Vail - Wednesday November 21st - rode it, it's ice, 1 run, busy as hell and not worth the wait in line.  Only chair 8 is open STILL 1 week from the opening day.  Don't be fooled, the Gondola is running but for foot traffic only.  Lets see if they open up some more.

 - I also rode Vail again on Thursday of Thanksgiving Nov 22nd - with my friend, and girlfriend's brother, newly turned PROFESSIONAL Skiier, Sean Hartel.  He's an up and coming pro as he just opened up this year to sponsors.  He needs more so please check him out - pulls cab 10s in the pipe, hits 75 ft gaps with mute 12s or even a switch double back flip..... that's right a switch double back flip.  Check out Sean Hartel on YouTube to see some of his stuff.  Amazing skiier.  Anyway - on Thursday of Thanksgiving they did open up another run - all catwalk and not worth the price of a lift ticket, but it was a fun day anyways.

 - Friday - Nov 30th - I took off riding to work, rest, and breakdance later that night.  Then attended a new skate shop opening here in Edwards called The Den.  Lots of decent clothes and the shop is decorated quite nice.  Located in Riverwalk - the owners are really cool so stop in and check it out.

 - And then hit A Basin on Saturday with my lady's whole family.   That was nice. They opened the top lift to extend the runs a little higher, and it was a great day of riding.  Not too crowded and sunny.  But still only the 2 lifts running (besides the one lift for the bunny hill).

 - Sunday was a late and lazy day.  12 noon or so was about when we made it to Vail.  No one was there so it was kind of nice riding straight onto the lifts.  Good times.  But we still could use some snow... and some terrain... and some snow... and maybe a jib would be nice.  But it was just plain old Vail... 2 runs... lame.

 - Monday was a training day and so I didn't get a chance to ride (working as well).

 - And that brings us to yesterday - Tuesday Nov 27th - I've very proud to say I got up in BeaverCreek, my local resort for the first time.  Only 1 lift open, and it was a sheet of ice on the 1 run... but the park guys created about 10-12 nice jibs for us to play on.  A flat box, and flat rail to start.  Double picnic tables, a barrel jump, and many more.  Thanks guys!

 - there was 6 inches of fresh snow at the Beave today (Wed, Nov 28th) and it snowed throughout the morning so it may have been a nice day to ride.  Breck claims 9, everyone else about 4.  Beave with 6.  I bet they opened some more lifts and runs today (all the resorts have been making snow like crazy). Here is my official email from Vail Resorts:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 inches in the past 24 hours and 6 inches in the past 48 hours!

More snow means more terrain!  We are currently top-to-bottom from Eagle's Nest.  And just opened today, is Pride
Express (Chair 26) offering portions of Simba and Bwana trails, and Minnie's (Chair 9).  Also open is Born Free Express (Chair 8), Chair 15, the Gondola and 2 carpets, with 175 acres.
Get all the details here - http://vail.snow.com/winter/tm.current.dateshours.asp
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get up here and ride folks, the season has arrived.

P.S.> Forgot to mention - Copper has the only Pipe open in North America at the moment so some really famouse people have been in town to hit it.  That is the main reason Sean Hartel was here, to get Pipe runs in before some big comps coming up soon.
