Peanut Butter and Rail Jam 2009

Peanut Butter and Rail Jam 2009

Seria imprez jibbingowych spod znaku Volcoma ponownie atakuje Europę.

  2. 17.01.09 Luz Ardiden, F

Snowboard.com News: Stylewars 2008 - Day 2
By: Snowboard.com

Tyler Chorlton from the UK Nollie frontflip nose grab. Photo: Alex Roberts

Stylewars 2008 presented by Oakley.

August 24-28, 2008

Falls Creek Resort, Australia.

French Canadians Matts Kulisek and Charles Reid continue their dominance at Stylewars during day two of competition at Falls Creek Australia.

Strong winds, scattered clouds and a riders vote meant that today the Stylewars course was restricted to the bottom feature of the park – the gap jump. The jump had been re-shaped last night to give some more pop and allow the riders a little more hang time. The level of style and tricks definitely stepped up today at Stylewars with the help of the course fine-tuning from head park builders Rueben Cameron from Australia and Doug Mercer of Mammoth, California.

Matts Kulisek (CAN) was again throwing down all day with consistent incredible tricks over the gap like backside rodeo nines and frontside 1080’s. His slaying of the jump pushed him to first place today and number one in the overall standings of the three-day freestyle marathon.

Charles Reid (CAN) was bumped into 2nd position by his countryman Matts, but his slew of 1080’s, nines and smooth fives held him solidly in striking position for the win on the upcoming final day.

“Usually in a contest the guys who spin the most win, but I have been spinning some big three’s and seven’s and I was winning yesterday, so I think it’s a great comp - you don’t have to do a 1260 or something to win.” Reid said.

Tyler Chorlton (GBR) threw the most interesting trick of the day with a nollie front-flip nose grab but was not to be outdone by Kiwi Quentin Robbins who launched a one foot indy over the high-speed gap kicker.

In the hotly disputed Bledisnow Cup, which is an Australia v’s New Zealand comp within Stylewars. Australian riders took out day two, led by acting team captain Ryan Tiene and team mate Mitch Allan. New Zealand and Australia are now tied at one day each with New Zealand just ahead in the points.

Tonight at Stylewars the party continues with a special showing of Travis Rice’s new film That’s It That’s All followed by infamous Australian hip hop act Bliss&Eso who will no doubt tear the bloody roof off. Hangovers assured for all tomorrow.

The third day of Stylewars competition is planned for tomorrow, and includes the Volvo 28 Stair Rail Jam to be held in the evening under lights in Falls Creek Village.

For video highlights of yesterday go to: www.stylewars.com.au

The 2008 Stylewars is presented by Oakley and is supported by Falls Creek Resort, SilverSki Lodge, Corona, Red Bull, Volvo and New Era.

So I busted down to california, 25 hour drive in a 3 seater truck with 3 people, pretty comfy to say the least. We got into town a day before the West Coast Invitational Rail Jam, so I got one day on my injured ankle too see how it was going to perform. My ankle felt great and I rode fairly well in the event. The rail was too close on one side of the scafolding to get my banger tricks out,  but I could make alot more excuses than that if I felt like it. The next day I was riding threw the park just cruising, and I corner cut a jump and landed right on a japanese guy that wasn't paying attention and re-sprained my ankle. That took me out of Snowboarder Magazine's Superpark, so I ended up helping the filmers and rider communicate during the event because I was too bunged up to ride. I ended up partying though, because if you can't ride, you gotta enjoy yourself somehow. Here are some pics from a couple of the nights, and a pic of me really motivating the guys to go out there and get after it.

The Garden - Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

The Garden, presented by Oronge Board Shop, is set to drop at Sun Peaks for the second time this year. The event format will be based on the basketball game of H-O-R-S-E, where contestants compete against each other on each feature. Skiers will compete against skiers and snowboarders against snowboarders. The jam will take place in the Blue Park, with a fresh layout to keep things interesting. Register between 8:30am and 10:30am on Sunday morning in the Village Day Lodge breezeway.

Coors Light “Quest for the Holy Rail” – Saturday, March 29th

Explore Sun Peaks Resort and follow the clues in search of the Holy Rail. On the way, Holy Rail teams of two will be collecting clues and playing cards to try and form the best poker hand in the competition. The final playing card is given out at the location of the Holy Rail, where at least one team member must ride the rail to receive that final card. Once your team has all five cards, head back to Bottom’s to see if their poker hand is the highest. The best poker hand wins a Coors Light Peak Party Trip for two people. And there’s plenty of swag being handed out to individuals for best trick, best bail, best style, worst style and best outfit. To register in Kamloops, visit the Oronge Board Shop at 257 Victoria Street, or register the day of the event at Bottom’s Bar and Grill from 10am to 11am.

By: Tyler Ashbee/Stuart Britton

Hi all. It’s been a pretty ballin’ ass season for the PTTR crew. After a season filled with rain and generally crap weather last year, we have been blessed by the snow gods with dump after dump of fresh white gold. Most of Ontario just got a late winter blast over the past weekend dropping 2 feet of fresh in some areas. We have all been taking full advantage of the good conditions and everyone has been getting all kinds of shots to step up their video parts. Bomb drops, hand rails, jumps and some shi*t that you’ll have to wait and see cause it’s so different and original. Besides filming some of the riders have been ripping up local comps and killin it! Tyler Ashbee has been on a comp rampage, and he’s not even a true comp kid. He is a street monster and the local Banger 3000. Ty  recently has got 2nd place at the Dagmar G’d Up From the Feet Up, 2nd at the Kirby Rail Jam, 3rd at the Am Jam Finals at Polsen, 2nd the week before that at the AM Jam qualifiers and 2nd place at the Kirby Slope Style event. DAMN!   If you think his comp standings are good, just wait till you see his video part. Gonna be sooo good.

The Jeep brand returns this year as title sponsor after the first year success of the Union Square Street Sessions. Jeep will join supporting sponsors Red Bull, Oakley, Burton, Sunday River Resort, and Mountain Creek Resort to once again bring the event to the streets of Manhattan.

The 2008 Jeep Union Square Street Sessions and its qualifiers will once again be broadcast on NBC’s Emmy award-winning Jeep World of Adventure Sports on Jan. 12, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. and Feb. 16, 2008, at 5 pm respectively with multiple re-airings on Universal HD.

The winter sports celebrations will continue in New York City on Saturday, Feb. 9 with NYC Parks & Recreation’s Winter Jam, an amateur rail jam and winter carnival with music, sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and other winter activities held at the Central Park Bandshell, in coordination with Aura360 and the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
