Hey Mate!! I was at the Oakley Style Wars in Fallscreek  Australia last week.. I had tons of Fun there! great parties at the Silver Ski Lodge with the whole Epic crew! I got to see my old friend PC from the Epic book.. runs in the gum trees, watch Travis’ movie.. I was hosting the contest for the web.. which was kind of funny.. I had tons of fun at the parties! we have seen some water spitting, beer fights, and even some wrestling at some point.. all in a fun party mood in the Aussie way. A that we improvised a trip to Torquay on the way down and went surfing, the water was freezing cold, but it was fun to catch a couple waves..

After the surfing, I joined the 2 Kristis ( Leskinen skier, and KT the Oakley marketing girl in Australia). We flew Sydney, ate some kanguru, did a couple PR stuff there with Alpha magazine and Sports Tonight Australia. I pet a koala and flew to New Zealand.. we spent the first day in Auckland for some more interviews for Sunrise (TV), Curl magazine, Sports Tonight NZ (TV), couple radio stations, and last but not least, we got on the Sports Cafe show hosted by some of the All Blacks (NZ national heroes).. they started asking us some tricky questions when a streaker jumped out of the public and shaked it right before my eyes on live national TV!! I was quite stoked to be there when that happened

anyways got to Queentsown the next day for the Oakley Chicks day out! which took place in Snowpark with another 50 girls.. the sun was shining and the park was super good, we shred together all day, i tryed to give them a couple tips, and we all rode back together to queenstown in a very loud busride. At night we all went for a bootie shake at the subculture bar where our friend RIA was DJing.. she killed it! she played tons of funk, which i love and we all danced all night.. and now I m tired and ready to go back to Euroland!

Thanks to Oakley and thanks tons to KT for organising this trip! thanks to all the girls for coming shredding with us, see you all next year!

Hey to everyone and anyone who actually reads this stuff!
Thought i better find the time to update my snowboard.com/colonies.com account, seem to use this site less and less after most of my kiwi friends are bebo.com addicts, and i mean ADDICTS! lol.

New Zealand Winter was a short one this season, which was gutting! got a heap of riding in tho ... 1 week up at coronet peak in queenstown, which was amazing, learnt a heap riding up there. First jump of the season I unfortunetly landed on my face, slitting my lip/biting my lip, and grazing my chin - got some worried looks round the cafe at lunch. Went on a few school trips lending a hand with the younger OE classes so they cud pass there snowboarding certificates! which was mint, gave a few of the younger boys a run for there money...god that felt good. And seeing as i had a pass for cardrona - in wanaka, me and a few buddies got up the mt every friday/sunday if we cud, which rocked! we were going atleast once a week, as well as school and work - tryna keep the petrol fund going! shame the season didnt get a kick start like last year, but still an amazing new zealand boarding season got a heap of photos which i will post later!

So ...What else have i been up to...
Moved to Dunedin, new zealand (south island), 2hours away from my home town, and 3 hours away from my home mt *tear*. Moved with my parents, leaving my older bro back home. Studying down here next year maybe...still tossing up going over seas and catching up with the gang! but we'll see. Been drinking way 2 much, partying way 2 much, im surprised i dont have a booze gutt yet...(touch wood) I enjoy the old wine bong - getting messy IS the key! Give me a message, and dont be shy! miss all the snowboard.com regs! Sorry ive been slack on this, i promise ill get my arse into gear!

Love the one an only
Kiwi - Mel :)
p.s. Mite see u on the YOUR moutain ur this season...fingures crossed - any biatches keen? wheres everyone at this season?

Vancouver, B.C. – It’s Your Life Third Episode Premiers, Starring Jacob Koia

Heavywater Studios is proud to announce the premier of the third episode of It’s Your Life, a five minute peek into the very hectic lives of five professional snowboarders. The third episode stars New Zealand Endeavor/Oakley rider Jacob Koia.

Meet Jake Koia, a quiet Kiwi snowboarder who let’s his riding speak for itself. Being a New Zealander, Jake rides 10 months out of the year – experiencing back to back winters. Traveling from summer in January in the southern hemisphere, Jake arrives in France for a magazine shoot. Jumping across the Atlantic to Tahoe and Salt Lake City, Jake lays down the hammers for his video part in Dero Films. Burnt out by April, Jake returns home to Queenstown, where he chills for a month before riding again at SnowPark. For a twenty year old, living out of a suitcase is what needs to be done to break into the North American snowboard scene. Self-filmed diaries using a Nokia N90 camera phone give the episode a truly unique and personal feeling.

Produced by Max Jenke of Endeavor Snowboards and Derek Heidt of Oakley, It’s Your Life intimately documents the aspirations of five professional snowboarders and their friends. The rawness of personal journals and footage filmed exclusively on Nokia camera phones combined with vivid narration, an amazing soundtrack, and first class snowboarding combine to make a unique viewing experience. Episodes launch every two weeks, with the third episode premiering November 15th.

Presented by Endeavor Snowboards, Oakley, Nokia, Snowboard.com, Whistler/Blackcomb, and Heavywater Studios.

Hey world. Okay so we just had a awesome season over in NZ. I wish I remembered to write blogs DURING the season but oh well, it was a killer time. Its always after you've left the place that you realise how f*cking good it was. Queenstown kicks ass. Anyways we'll be back! Ok so after a five day stop at home in Aus I am now back in BC, we're going up to Whistler tommorow to try get a house and stuff so fingers crossed I dont really feel like living in a hostel. Should be all good I guess at least its pretty early hopefully there be plenty of options. Its so damn warm here at the moment its hard to get excited about snow when its like 30 degrees! Serious I went swimming yesterday.. SWIMMING! Weird, but anyways PEAcE

New Zealand is a possibility.

Thats right I might be making the trip to Queenstown again this year. If everything goes to plan.

Another option is Mt Hutt. what are your thoughts on that?

Today I did an 8 hour hike on the Franz Josef glacier...fooking amazing! My legs are jelly but it was SO worth it...and tomorrow I get to Wanaka! chyeea!

Just found out that the place that was being held for me in Wanaka was given away to someone else earlier this week, so I'm back to square one. Looks like its going to be tough to find something half decent for a good price! So if anyone knows of something, let me know! =D

Snowpark is open on Thursday and Canada Day is on Saturday...and hopefully Friday I'll  be riding in the 'Expression Session' rail (?) comp at Coronet Peak in Queenstown!

Sweet as bro!

so i'm staying at my friend Maia's house for the weekend, because Mt.Ruapehu (aka Mt.Doom in Lord of the Rings) is set to open for riding tomorrow! We've all got our fingers crossed for good weather. Then I'm heading down south again...it'll take me another 8 days to get down to Wanaka on the Kiwi bus, just in time to jump over to Queenstown for the winter festival! woot woot! i'm going to try and ride the Night Rail Jam, but I think it's invite only. I'll have to find out soon.

YAY SNOW!!!

P.S. bungy jumping and skydiving were AWESOME!!!

So right now I'm in Auckland, the most populated city in New Zealand. FINALLY! muahaha

I think I've finally gotten used to the time change, since I slept for 5 hours yesterday afternoon, and for a ton more hours last night. My next plan is to get a bus heading to Queenstown on Sunday, and it'll probably take over a day to get there. But at least I'll get to see more than I would if I was on a plane!

I'm really indecisive about what to do today, there's lots to do here, but I keep trying to stay awake from anything TOO touristy...but really, I should just accept that I AM a tourist, and do whatever the hell I want...right? =D

I met a really cool graf artist/gallery owner named Andres while wandering around downtown San Francisco, and Shepard Fairey (OBEY) just had an exhibit at his gallery last month. Andres showed me a bunch of art in the storage areas of the gallery, like some original OBEY works and also some of his. DOPE shi*t that's for sure. We hit it off and he got me into a couple bars (since I'm underaged in the US) and I kicked his ass at pool. haha. He showed me around town and we had a super fun time. yea yea!

So now I'm off to wander the city and find some fun. It's too hilly here so I can't skate. Boo!

Hey everyone! Whats news? So here I am finally in Queenstown NZ. Its an amazing place, actually better than I remember it. I got here about a week and a half ago, just been chillin and trying to find some work! Wow This place is really beautiful. We have a pretty nice house on the lake, and we bought a Subaru Legacy so I guess all i need is a job and the season to start!Seriously I dont really wanna work as a tradie I think it will be too cold and miserable! haha I want as little hours as possible so I can go and ride.
Queenstown is awesome, MASSIVE snowboard culture,it has shi*t loads of crazy bars and clubs, people here are from all over the world, lots of Yanks, Canadians AY!, Swiss and for some reason a heap of Brazillians and Japs! haha They call this place the action capital of the world, I dunno I guess they're probably right! I think its also the expensive capital of the world... $79 NZD for a new era cap???!!! DAMN!
So Vicki is working at a snowboard shop (ALTA) and she keeps buying shi*t like every day! making the most of employee discount!
I went for a board with the guys from ALTA last week, we set up some picnic tables and did some hiking it was awesome, but I cant wait for the lifts to open, Im waaaay to lazy for that shi*t!
Were goin for a drive to Wanaka tomorrow, that should be a good test run for Stan the Subi! Ill Put a heap of pics on here when I get the cable hooked up on Friday, (dial up is waaaay to slow!)
Anywhoo, Keep in touch on MSN everyone, HIT ME BACK!
Peace
