JumpCamp is still alive. Can you believe it?!

Well it's been getting cold
and to keep warm we've been doubling up on sweatpants. Besides that we've been working with our amazing sponsors and crew designing the new park and getting the mountain groomed and ready. Brochures and posters are at the printers and the website has been redone. All the new 2010 dates are up and a schwack of new photos, downloads and all kinds of other jazz. Check it out and secure your spot in one of this year's camps.

We have lots of photographer friends at JumpCamp. These hombres sit in the cold and freeze their fingers in the off chance that we'll do something rad. Here's three of our favourites: Billy Pipe  http://pipephoto.com/ Dave Prothero http://www.daveprotherophotography.com/index.html & Gordon Ross http://www.gordonross.ca/

DO YOU WANT TO LIVE AND GO TO SCHOOL AT WINDELLS? The Windells Academy is unlike any other high school on the planet. Students grades 9-12 can enroll for the whole year or just one term. Classes are fully accredited and they will transfer in or out of any school around the world. Whether you are into skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, or bmx, you will have access to Windells’ 53 acres of onsite fun, plus optional high level on snow training. Whether your goal is the X-Games or Stanford we will show you the path to make your dreams come true! There will be constant blog and photo updates both on snowboarder magazine and the Windells website. Check out www.windells.com/blog for daily updates and pictures. 2009 is the first year of Windells Academy, and everyone is excited for the future. The first ever academy students arrived in early September with big smiles on their faces. We have had the great pleasure of being able to ski and snowboard on Mt. Hood year round. This means 7 days a week 365 days a year. Ever since the students arrived at the academy they have been on snow every day. We have set up multiple jibs and jumps and even brought snow back to Windells campus for a little more creative rail session. The Academy also takes weekly field trips to portland and the surrounding areas. Some of these trips are educational field trips to a historical site in the surrounding cities of portland, we also take industry trips to the many snowboard and ski companies in the area. So far this year we have had the pleasure to visit Atmosphere clothing, Bonfire snowboards, Solomon snowboards, K2, Line skies, Ride snowboards and will soon be seeing Nike. Check out www.windells.com/blog for all photos and info on where and what we have done so far this year!

My Journal: married life...
By: tooscoops

so i am now married.

met my significant other from this site in fact.

joined this site just to track down a picture that a friend had of me.  little did i know that a snowboarding site would turn into a matchmaking site.  guess i shouldn't be too surprised as all it did was bring people together who had some similar interests.

anywho, kendrat and i *met* on here and began chatting.  we realized we had more than just snowboarding as a common interest.  our backgrounds were similar, many of our views were alike and our hobbies and pastimes were similar enough to allow great conversations.  after finally meeting in person at whistler, we hit it off and now, here we are.  just back from our honeymoon and lucky for me, 4 days worth of sitting in a car with me and a week sharing a condo hasn't changed how we feel about each other.

to those of you who have shared all the fun times with us over the last 5 years, thanks.  you are all awesome!  hopefully there will be many more memories made!

thought i'd include a few favourite photos from the wedding....

erynswim.jpg picture by tooscoops my new sister known as westcoastfvckup on here and oddity. eryn decided to see if the water in lake ontario really was as dirty as she had heard.

flowers.jpg picture by tooscoops  i'm pretty.  i have flowers to prove it.

dress.jpg picture by tooscoopsmy beautiful bride's dress... very kendra.... and somehow made her look even more beautiful.

Grenade Games lobs into town. Snowboarding’s infamous end of season party is by the riders, for the riders. Discover tomorrow’s artistic superstars. Debuting at this year’s Festival is the mutant sibling of the Pro Photographer Showdown, the ThreePointOh Multimedia Challenge. Plus, State of the Art, the Canada-wide Designer Search and Expose, and the new Chef Challenge.

Skate comes to the party. The new Festival opener, Skate & Deploy, followed by the Skate of the Art Opening party offers the perfect segue from winter to spring for fans of flow.

Graphic mastery gains momentum. Enter year four of the open crowd-sourcing collaboration that introduces graphic design talent to snowboards as canvass. Masterpiece in Motion entries are due March 1.

Ticketed events are known to sell out in advance so avoid disappointment and get your tickets early. Get yours online now at the Festival E-Store.

Faces of the Fest prepare to face-off to be the Festival’s 2009 on-air video host. Our very own Alex Hearn, voice of the Whistler Blackcomb snowphone, is one of the five finalists! "VOTE HARD, VOTE HEARN" VOTE NOW! Last day to vote is today, Monday, April 13th.

Pushing for Perfection

Hey Jibbers and Jumpers,
The past couple of weeks in The Parks have been really exciting times for everyone. We've seen lots of sun and snow. Our Parks are now pretty much built to capacity, giving our teams the opportunity to really pimp out our features. We've been switching rails and jumps in and out to keep things fresh. Both mountains are changing daily. The Showcase Showdown this year was a huge success. Big shout out to Brad Broughton from the shop, and his team of volunteers for their help with design and building. The Atomic Supercross is this weekend; results to come.

On Blackcomb
- The Snowcross track has a new line this year that everyone should check it out. The course is open daily.
- The Highest Level, and Choker lines are riding perfectly every day, the lines are dialed right in nicely. The Highest Level is rounded out at the bottom by a massive re-entry platform with an Up-Rail to Wallride. The Choker line finishes with an awesome Quarter Pipe that is Zaugged daily.

On Whistler
- The Bobcat line (right side of the park) has been filled out with an A-frame rail combo, a couple more jumps, and tweaks to the other jibs.
- The Chipmunk line is fully built out as well, with a couple new jumps, and changes to the jib lines Park Events
- The next King of the Rail comp is going to be March 21st. This is event is the last KOR of the season, and may even be moved to the base of Whistler (next to the GLC) this time. So make sure you register
- The following day (March 22nd), will be the Park Rider Series Slopestyle, on Whistler Mountain. The course will be on Whistler's Bobcat line (right side of park). All levels of riders and skiers are welcome so come on up, and ride in this fun event

See you all up here!
- James Sayers

The first JumpCamp session was awesome! The conditions were wicked with all the new snow we've gotten on the Island in the last month. The season's have switched here this year; we had spring in the winter and now we're having winter in the spring. Man, it's total global weirding.... We had a gorgeous day on Saturday and all the campers loved the new park design. Sunday was a little soggy but that didn't slow anyone down and everyone really progressed their shred skills over the weekend. Thanks to all the coaches for their hard work and all of our killer sponsors for all the prizes!

Coaches Corner: Senor Brown, Cobra Commander and Captain Hatesalot.

Coach Myles getting all inverted.

Very rare photo of Coach Olaf Larsen skiing in a one piece suit. Even back when he was a two-planker wanker he had some serious style. Look at the outfits in this pick! Hahahaha.......  Actually they're not much different than the crazy outfits nowadays.

Hahahahaha........ man.

New JumpCamp whip! Yes folks, it's true. JumpCamp has gotten rid of the hoopty and picked up a nice new truck. Thanks to everyone at Brian McLean Chevrolet in Courtenay for everything. Go in and buy a vehicle and tell them JumpCamp sent you.

So Brendon took me Backcountry riding in Idaho for my bday.  BEST Bday of my life!!!!  Best snow I've ever experienced.
Our first decent was 2,700 feet of trees, meadows, a gnarly boulder field, and all in the lightest, deepest snow of my life.  We took a few more 800ft decents and for the finale, we went where noone's gone all season.  All I can say is CHEST DEEP.

I'm tempted to leave good ol Washington now.  Too bad it's so wonderful here. :)  Thanks babe for a killer ride.
