Forty of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders will descend on Squaw Valley USA this winter, where for the first time ever they’ll compete on a legendary section of the mountain during the Freeride World Tour Event wtfhttp://www.freerideworldtour.com> : Nissan Tram Face, anticipated to take place February 28th, 2009.

The Freeride World Tour event at Squaw Valley USA, the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, will help set a new standard for freeride competition, attracting some of the best in the sport.  The Tour promises to be demanding for participants and exciting for spectators when for the first time the legendary Tram Face, closed since Squaw Valley opened in 1949, will be open for the pro event.

”The Tram Face at Squaw Valley is legendary terrain that many have dreamed to ride but few have dared to,” said longtime Squaw Valley USA skier Cody Townsend, ranked 5th in the 2008 World Freeride Tour.  ”Having the first ever competition on Tram Face is like the first time Monaco was raced in Formula 1, Teahupoo was surfed and the Masters was played at Augusta. Opening up the off-limits terrain for the competition is a dream come true for anyone that’s driven into Squaw Valley and seen the amazing Face that dominates the mountain.”

Participants arrive at Squaw on February 26, opening ceremonies take place on Friday, February 27 and competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to an alternate date between February 29 and March 5. Spectators can enjoy the festive atmosphere with live music and ongoing events at The Village at Squaw Valley plus another village at Squaw Valley’s High Camp.

Riders participating in the Squaw event, which is the second leg of the Freeride World Tour, will arrive in California after showing their stuff in Sochi, Russia. After Squaw, the riders will travel to Tignes, France and Verbier, Switzerland. After this final event, the four Freeride World Champions (ski/snowboard/men/women) will be crowned.

Falls Creek, Australia – August 19th, 2008: The 08/09 season of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is charging at full steam down under and the anticipation is rising for the first 4Star event on the Tour, theOakley Stylewars 2008. Taking place August 24th - 28th 2008 in Falls Creek, Australia, the 4-day lifestyle Slopestyle event, complete with intense snowboarding, parties and live music, is looking to be the highlight of the Southern Hemisphere.

With 500 Swatch TTR ranking points in the mix along with a $15 000 USD prize purse, Stylewars is sure to carry the competitive momentum set just recently at the 5Star Burton New Zealand Open and 3Star Billabong Snow Stock. Last season, Norwegian rider Torstein Horgmo blew apart the Falls Creek scene, and this year he’s back to claim it all again. But a hefty challenge Horgmo is sure to meet, as this year’s event is full to the brim with over 40 talented riders set to destroy the 3 – Kicker course.

Expect freestyle entrepreneur Travis Rice (USA) to make things spicy as current TTR World No. 2 Chas Guldemond (USA) attempts to get back the Tour Lead which was taken from him last week at the 3Star Billabong Snowstock by James Hamilton (NZE) Swatch TTR No. 4 Janne Korpi (FIN), TTR No. 13 Mikkel Bang (NOR), TTR No. 21 Sebastien Toutant (CAN), and TTR No. 40 Antti Autti (FIN) are sure to keep it interesting alongside a sick south-hemi contingent that includes the likes of TTR No. 26 Jake Koia (NZE) and Australian snowboarders Robbie Walker and Ryan Tiene.

Current leader of the Swatch TTR women’s ranking, Jamie Anderson (USA), will also take part in the men’s competition. Although there are no women’s points available at Stylewars simply due to the large scale of the competition features, she will show case her talent together with the guys. We are excited to see how the top female on the Tour will do.

Riders will be greeted with a relaxed, shred-friendly atmosphere, but even more exciting is the private, contest-purpose built Slopestyle course, already beefed up due to an excellent snow season thus far and set to exceed last year’s set up with increased quality and flow.

Also coming up soon on the Swatch TTR Tour is the 3Star Boost Mobile Sno Sho presented by Samsung, a one-night, under-the-lights, Big Air and Rail Showdown. Taking place August 29th to 30th at Perisher Blue, Australia, the event boasts a $30 000 USD prize purse and the longest rail seen in competition that is sure to spark some creative hits. Perisher Blue will also host the 5Star Burton Australian Open, starting off on September 1st.

For more information on the Swatch TTR 4Star Stylewars and the 3Star Sno Sho, along with inspiring videos, blogs, and ranking stats, head on over to www.ttrworldtour.com and keep yourself up to date.

CHINA’S ONLY INTERNATIONAL SNOWBOARD CONTEST ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF RED BULL, $25,000 IN PRIZE MONEY AND A 4-STAR TTR STATUS!

Beijing CHINA – November 26, 2007 – The Nanshan Open, the first snowboard contest in China, has announced the return of Red Bull as the official sponsor for the second year in a row.  The annual professional snowboard competition is to be held at Nanshan Ski Resort January 5th and 6th, 2008 for the sixth consecutive year.

As the title sponsor of the Nanshan Open, Red Bull will once again receive title ownership as well as will be fully integrated in the marketing efforts of one of the most media generating sporting events in the country.  The contest has gained mass recognition after its 5 years of success, not to mention induction into the TTR World Snowboard Tour.

“We are more than excited to have Red Bull back as the main sponsor of the Nanshan Open,” said Steve Zdarsky, Mellow China CEO.  “We are now on our 6th year and have experienced continuous growth and this year will be no different.  Red Bull is the perfect partner to support our initiatives to continue to be the best event in China and we will cooperate and aim to push snowboarding in China even further”.

New for this season is a 4-star TTR status, which means riders will not only be battling for a whopping 25,000 American dollars in prize money, but also accumulative points which will ultimately name one snowboarder the best in the world.  Ticket to Ride (TTR) is the governing body of the top events worldwide and pays out $250,000 to the rider in the top spot.  Live music will also be an attraction on the Gibson stage with well-known national acts headlining the event making the Nashan Open the snow party event of the season.

As the worlds most sought after energy drink, Red Bull has taken the initiative to support athletes and sports that are relevant to the passion, activation and self-expression of the brands image.  With the local growth of snowboarding in China, the sport fits perfectly into the “breakthrough the extreme and express the potential” company slogan which has led Red Bull to support many action packed sports around the globe.  With Formula 1, The Red Bull Air Race Series and Skateboard Contests among them, The Nanshan Open gives Red Bull yet another place to showcase their passion for pushing individual limits and their sports to the Chinese public.

The 6th Red Bull Nanshan Open will take place in The Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park, well known for having the best freestyle obstacles in the country.  It was the first freestyle specific area in China and was possibly the best park in the world at contest time last season.  The park boasts an international standard kicker line, over 10 rails and boxes, a giant hip and some special features only to be revealed at on the first day of the contest.  “Its cool to see how Chinese people can [really ride] and this park was super nice”, said the impressed team Quiksilver team rider Hampus Mosseson after taking the top spot at the event last season.  “I’ve been snowboarding for 14years and its crazy that snowboarding has only been here for [such a short time] but they are catching on so fast”.

Nanshan is the best and most visited resort in the country and is the only place with the infrastructure to hold such an event in the region.  Local riders can qualify for their spot in the 6th Red Bull Nanshan Open this December 29th at the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park.  The Nanshan Open is brought to you in part by Quiksilver  and Gibson Guitars.

World’s Top Riders Meet for the Union Square Street Sessions, Presented by Jeep®

PORTLAND, Maine, January 23, 2007 – Aura360 in partnership with NYC Parks & Recreation announces New York City’s first major pro snowboarding rail jam competition, The Union Square Street Sessions, presented by Jeep®. Thursday, February 8, the world’s top pro riders including Marc Frank Montoya, Danny Kass and Eddie Wall will compete head-to-head for a prize purse of $30,000.

"The Union Square Street Sessions will expose residents to the thrill of a professional snowboarding rail jam set in Union Square Park, the gateway to downtown Manhattan," said Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe.

Twenty-four men and eight women will participate in Union Square Street Sessions and will show off their skills on a customized urban rail fabricated at Mountain Creek Resort’s Jib Lab. This will be the largest such structure ever produced for an event of this kind in New York City.

“We have been working on the concept for a major pro snowboarding competition in New York City for several years,” said Dan Gacetta, partner of Aura360. “We wanted to produce a breakthrough event in a world class venue that would demonstrate the long standing involvement of urban communities in the sport of snowboarding.”

The Union Square Street Sessions will begin with athlete training at 3:00 p.m. leading up to the rail jam competition commencing at 5:30 p.m. During the contest, the neighborhood of Union Square will be transformed into an action sports block party with celebrity judges, live music provided by Fuse TV and a sponsor village comprised of action sports retailers.

The invitational pro field of top riders will be augmented by up-and-coming athletes selected at three Street Session qualifiers. Winners at The Block Party in Tahoe and Rails to Riches and Shop Wars events at Killington receive automatic qualifications.

Union Square Street Sessions partners include Jeep as the presenting sponsor and supporting sponsors Burton, Fuse TV, Snowboarder Magazine, Lat34.com, Boost Mobile, Plantronics, Mountain Creek Resort and Killington Resort.

“Freedom and adventure are among the core values of the Jeep brand, so we’re excited to sponsor The Union Square Street Sessions,” said John Plecha, Jeep Marketing and Global Communications. “Snowboarding is one of the many outdoor activities Jeep owners enjoy. Snowboarding in New York City fits naturally with the ‘go anywhere-do anything’ versatility of the Jeep brand and its vehicles.”

4th of february..

It´s the end of my trip to this foggy, rainy yet sunny island!
It´s been a great experience! I found out some new facts(useless "knowing"), eaten some very expensive pizzas, I meet people from so many diffrent countries and  I´ve exeriensed the irsih culture of drinking beer, criminal kids and late busses!

One of the best things I´ve found out is that irish people have a sense of humor! haha I´ve taken some pictures of some of the things i´ve found funny!(I just have to load them in my galleri soon!), for example I found a note on a lamppost with a "missing girlfriend" text describing some funny things about her and so on, haha soo funny! and some other crazy things..

The irish bars are as good as they seam! it´s packed with people , live music and a lot of beer! If you want to order a drink you´ve come to the wrong place! It´s either guiness or rome and coke!

we went to the temple bar, and meet up with some tourists! awsome place!!! I´ve never meet people from so many different countries at the same time and place as I did that night! I loved every second of it! to bad I was a  bit drunk and forgot to take pictures, or at least as many pics as  a would have wanted to!

Tomorrow I´m going home! It´s going to be so niiiiice, I really miss my own bed (my boyfriend in it!),my cat, my house and the swedish food and culture! I love my country! It´s a well organized system over there, and I´m so lucky to be living in it!

You gotta love traveling but in the end of the day your home´s the best place to crash!
puss&kram
The homesick one!

16 january.. still no snow! this winter really sucks! I love snow, the first/and almost only day it snowed I was rolling on my front lawn, feeling soooo happy.. then the next day it was gone:( I´m seriously thinking of moving into my fridge, at least there I can have some kind of winter... ;)
Back to reality.. in about two weeks I´m of to Ireland to visit a friend of mine, he´s a nice guy, a little crazy ,but nice! My goal with this trip will be to learn how to drink beer.. lesson nr. 1= how to not  pee after every beer
lesson nr. 2= how to strech your stomacth to make room for more beer
lesson nr. 3=how to keep cool while you´re getting drunk:S
lesson nr.4= learn how to comunicate with drunk irish people

haha hopefully this trip will give me something more to remember and tell about..It´s a shame though, that I will not experience Ireland in it´s fully glory= in the springtime.. right now the weather in Ireland is = rain and more rain.. and  some storms.
But who cares, Iám not there for the "nice weather" right?;). I´m actually going to celebrate my 20-birthday! And that´s something I´m going to do in an Irishbar! live music, happy irish people and a lot of whiskey and beer! I´ll have to get back to you on that one;) anyhow the trip will take place on the 28th of january,(my birthday is on the 30th of january, remember to congratulate me;))

Over and out
Elin the worst english speller ever!

On Oct 28th, this past Saturday Skool the premiere apres hours club opened its doors to Blue Mountain's very first Halloween Havoc. We put a $200 bar tab on the table for the best dressed costume of the night. After the judges discussed and argued 'Teen Wolf' came out on top with the 'Two Musketeers' getting the honourable mention.

Jagermeister was the life source behind the party providing blood and the funds to make it happen. We even had a girl dressed up like the reindeer logo. Dracula's wives were running around the blood martini's were flowing and the awkardly dressed people were dancin! I meant to spell that wrong

The party was sweet thanks to snowboard.com, Vestal, NOMIS, Banff Ice, Jagermeister, Universal Music, Lady Sovereign.

check out all of the photos at:

Let me know what you guys think and stay tuned for the next party mid December...

Ahh, we had a right blast!!!!!  It was excellent!  Anywhere that hands out shots of Jagermeister for free is a wicked place to be!!  How many shots did we have all together?!?!  And free glasses of wine and mulled wine......saying that tho, the drinks at the bars were £3.50 a bottle of beer or pint (if you found the bar with the pump!!) so other stands were right to hand out freebies...i mean, its all part of respecting the mountain giving away alcoholic freebies aint it?!?!  CUZ....the more u drink, the more chance of you collapsing and not using the mountain, therefore not polluting them with litter or cig smoke, etc!  Me and DK paid £12 for two voddie vodkas and redbull!!  Shocking i know!!!

We met and spoke to Jenny Jones, Leslie McKenna, Laura Berry, Kjersti Buaas and others from the Last Winter film and i got them all to sign my Last Winter DVD...which will now be for sale on eBay of course!!!  HAHA!!!  HELL NO FOOKIN WAY!!!!  Jenny Jones is the best best ever!!!  She was mega, she stood and spoke to Me and DK for ages and was the nicest person ever!  She was being told by the organisers n stuff to go to the tent to do sigs n photos n stuff and she was like "yeah wotever..." and carried on talkin!  She was awesome...i love her!

Bill had a go on the Buckin Bronko Snowboard thing and erm...broke it 3 times!?!?!  HA that was so funny!!!

The whole few days were excellent...except for a few hitches - walking straight into a £20 fine each for both me and Bill!  Trying to jump the underground and then to ask for assistance on buying a travel card for the remainder of the journey...Hmmm...wrong thing to do maybe?!?!?!  Hehe!  I'm keeping my Fine Receipt for memory purposes!  And then I had to come home a day earlier than planned as i was real ill...so that sucked, as i'd planned to go over to Colchester to Sam n CJs and go out in London with Sam...BUMMER!  Oh well...there will be plenty of other times...I PROMISE!!

Photos will be up soon....!

PS..."Not only did they use brown monkey's, they also used black ones and white ones...!"  This was the response Bill got from a black woman on the underground when he was on about training monkeys to drive trains...she took it as a racist comment!  SO PEOPLE....DO NOT USE THE WORD MONKEY EVER AGAIN!!!  Oh shi*t i just used it twice!!!

There will be two hours where the ramp is open for the public to have fun on (5pm to 7pm), and then in the evening (7pm to 9pm) we will be hosting a full-on competition where skaters will be competing for cash and prizes. As well, there will be live music and other stuff going on got anyone who comes to hang out and support the Whistler Skateboard Association, a non-profit community driven group formed to help take care of some of the many skateboard related issues in Whistler, especially the underground skatepark in Creekside. This event will go on rain or shine, we have planned for tents and coverings for the ramps and of course, everyone can hang out inside,  listen to live music and, of course, have a great time.

We will be having three main categories of first-place prizes, with a $200 cash prize given to the skater who performs the best trick on the rail, on the ledges, and down the set of stairs, each. The kick off party to the Village Wakeboard Festival went off without a hitch. The place was packed and the booze was plentiful.

We had Toronto’s hottest B-boys laying it down in Gel. Total took the crowd by suprise...

(Elliot getting wild on the Bull)

The Jagermeister Bull was a hit, Kevin Konnings took down the title of longest on the bull, bringing home a hundred bucks.

The Sky Vodka girls were looking fine in their hot tub… Until some dude puked and spoiled the hot hunnies and their fun. Elliot Catton being featured in just about every shot all over the party..

Good fun was had by all, look forward to some crazy shi*t happening out this way this fall and winter…..

Thank you all for coming out and supporting the party series. I hope you all had fun, I would love to hear your opinions email me at andiroth@eventsing.com

Cheers

My Blog: the land of oz!
By: sarahk

well well....its time for me to start saying my final goodbyes (well  for this time anyway!) to CANADA and to start coming to grips with the fact that i will be faced with the harsh reality of going back home in the next week. i have had the raddest year in canada - i have been able to ride some amazing mountains, booze it up mountain style (yes, it involved gallons of jagermeister!!), fall in love, see some beautiful places, and above all make some unforgettable and fantabulous friends. to everyone who i met and who made a difference to my year in canada....whether it be boozing with me, or riding with me, or simply letting me talk your ear off, thank you so so so much. you all mean the world to me, and if you're ever in australia, be sure to find me....
much love peeps xxx
