So here I am at the airport about to hop on a plane to Las Vegas, going to this trade show called SIA. For those of you who don’t know, it’s basically the place where everyone in the snowboard industry goes to launch their new equipment or whatever. It pretty much turns into one big party and it’s cool because it’s one of the few places you get to see everyone at the same time. This is me at the airport, drinking the first of what ended up being a reckless amount of tall beers… I hadn’t eaten anything that day so the beer was making me insta-drunk.

Obviously I made it to Vegas, but I didn’t find any food… all we found were big plastic cups of wine served to us on the plane and I passed out on route. I just woke up before landing in Vegas and already felt hung-over… great start to my trip!

ショータ日本へ。Shota is leaving for Japan.

今朝ついにショータ&タローさんも日本へ向け出発してしまいました。
続々とみんなカナダから離れていって寂しい時期になってますよ。。。

ショータは今年初めてモービルにチャレンジ。
初めの頃は全然乗れてなかったけど、シーズン最後にはかなり乗りこなしてジャンプ狂になっちゃいました。（笑）
慣れないバックカントリーでの撮影も楽しい事、大変だった事いろいろあったな〜。
久しぶりの日本でリフレッシュしてね！
This morning, Shota and Taro left for Japan.
Everybody is leaving Canada and it makes me sad...
This season, Shota had his first experience with snowmobiling.
When he started riding his sled, he wasn’t good at all but at the end of
the season he became jump crazy. :)
We got so many things done in the unfamiliar back country.
I hope Shota will enjoy and be relaxed in Japan.

ハート型。Heart shaped...

この前、久しぶりにスノーモービル行ってきた時にテントウ虫を発見しました。

『こんな山の上にいるんだなぁー』なんてよ〜く見てみると…
何と背中の模様がハート形！？
何かheartつながりでちょっと嬉しかったな〜！

I saw some ladybugs when I went snowmobiling last time.
I was surprised to see that ladybugs live up in the mountain too. So I looked
closely...
You know what? There were some heart shaped prints on their back?!
I felt a heart connection with the ladybug and that made me happy.
This was my first time to see ladybugs. They must have emerged from
hibernation.

カナダに来て初めて発見。暖かくなって出て来たのかな？
The snow is melting on the lake in hot weather.

暑さで湖の雪も融けてきてます。
There are many wild plants called “Taranome” (Aralia elata). It is the head of the Devil's Club plant.
Deep-fried Taranome is sooooo tasty!

雪がないところで山菜『たらの芽』もいっぱい。天ぷらでいただくとGOOD！

The dead tree looked like an octopus sitting on a rock.

岩の上にちょこんと立っていたタコみたいな枯れ木。

山に上がるまでの途中の雪がなくて険しかったけど、ほのぼのしてて楽しかったです。
でも残念ながら今シーズンのモービルは最後かも…
ちょっとさみしいなぁ〜

Most of the snow has melted so the road was steep but we still could have
some fun.

It’s really a pity that it would be the last time for snowmobiling this
season...

Party♪

どもです！ケイジです。
6日は自分の誕生日会を開いてもらいました！
しかもコウスケも7日に帰ってしまうのでみんなでワイワイ飲んでます。
おいしい料理、いい時間をつくってくれたみんなありがとう！

Everybody held a birthday party for me on 6th!
The party was also for Kosuke who is leaving for Japan tomorrow.
Everybody gathered and drank too much.
Thank you everybody for the nice food and great time!

パーティーの途中、近くのゴミ置き場にでっかい熊がいると聞いたのでみんなで見に行ってきました。コウスケの小刻みダッシュかなり速かったな〜。（笑）
『こっちにいるよ〜！』と教えてもらって行ってみると、民家の庭に今まで見た中でとびきりデカい熊を発見！
In the middle of the party, we heard that a big bear was near the house so
we went to see him. Kosuke’s dash was so fast! :)
We heard someone say “It’s this way!” and found the huge bear in our
neighbor’s yard! We were watching the bear from some distance and then a police came with a gun!
His face was serious and we felt the intimidation.

離れたところから見ていると警官が登場。何と手元にはショットガン。
顔はマジだし、威圧感あったな〜。
誕生日にいいもの見れたかも…？
I am lucky to see such a rare
incident on my birthday?

5日はショータの誕生日でした！

ついに20歳かぁ〜、日本でお祝いしてもらったかな？
おめでとうショータ！
June 5th was Shota’s birthday! He became 20!

どもでーす！フィルマーのケイジです。
昨日タダシがやっと帰ってきたと思ったら、いきなり日本に向けて旅立ってしまいました。なんて忙しい人なんでしょうか…

最近のカナダはず〜っと雨。

例年と比べてかなり晴れが少ないスね。しかも寒い。。。

最近は編集も始まっているので家から出ない日もあります。

となりでエディターのノブ君はプリングルスをもりもり食べてます。
夕飯だそうです。（笑）

近日中にheartTVで、フォトグラファーのdice-k maruさん vs zizo君のケンタッキー対決をUPします！
勝敗はかなりシンプル。フライドチキンをどれだけ食べれるか？！
よい子は真似しないように！おいしく食べましょう。

Hello, it’s Keiji-filmer.

Yesterday Tadashi came back from his trip to Hawaii and Las Vegas and today he left for Japan to do some Burton and Redbull stuff.

What a busy guy!

Lately, we are having so much rain in Whistler.

It’s unusually cold and not very sunny for this time of year.

We have started to edit our film so some times I don’t leave the house all day.

Nobu is eating Pringles like a bear. Pringles is his dinner today.

In a few days on heartTV, the KFC face off between Dice-K
Maru (photographer) and Zizo (photographer) will be shown!

The rule is very simple. Who can eat the most Kentucky Fried Chicken...

We Do Not recommend attempting this...You should just enjoy KFC!

Hello, it’s Koni!

Today, we introduce one of the silent forces of heatfilms - KEIJI TAJIMA!!!

He is a really hard worker. See?

ケイジはもともとカナダでスノーモービルやったるでー！と友達３人で乗り込んで来た元ライダーなんですねー。なもんでタマにカメラバッグを降ろしてフリーランする時なんかノリノリでイケイケ。いつも自分の体よりでっかいバッグ背負って滑ってるからストレスたまってるんでしょうねー。
いつのまにか忠専属フィルマーになって16mmまで扱える様になって、ホントに成長したもんだ。。なんてワイが出会ったのはつい最近なんやけどね。エラそうな事言いました。
ケイジの事もっといっぱい書きたいけどもう書けません。おやすみー。

Originally Keiji was a rider and stormed into Canada to do some snowmobiling
with his friends.

When he snowboards without his camera bag, he is really excited
and has so much fun.

I believe that carrying that big, heavy, camera bag (it’s
even bigger than Keiji himself) is much more stressful work than we could
imagine.

He became Tadashi’s filmer since...I don’t know when, but now he can
even use a 16mm camera!

He has grown up...Even though, I got to know him only recently though ...haha.

I would like to write about Keiji more and more but I should stop here.

and then to his famous Helmet hair...which he came and rode the Blackcomb park without a real helmet...
これは、要ヘルメットのパークを滑る時の対策として発案した、ヘルメットヘアー。

And then he end up with his shaved hair for this season. (Whistler in the back

東京タワーの旅 Tokyo Tower

きのうお台場でBURTNのミーティングがあったんですよ！
なかなかいいミーティングで良かった〜。やっぱり意見を聞いたり言ったりするのは、大切だな〜ってね！！！
んで今日の朝、ショータが東京タワーに行きたいって言い出してよ〜し行くか〜って事に。いい運動になって良かったですよ〜。
帰りぎわに食ったそばもうまかった〜。けっこう今日は、汗だくでした。

There was a BURTON meeting at Odaiba, Tokyo!

It was such a productive meeting!

I was reminded that it’s important to listen to everybody’s opinions and also to express my opinions!

This morning, Shota suggested to go to the Tokyo Tower and we all went there.

It was really good exercise.

The Soba (buckwheat noodle) which we ate on our way home was so tasty.

I was super sweaty all day but enjoyed myself! Japan is HOT!!!

Well, good evening actually.

We just started editing and I’m living in a world where day and night are
reversed...It’s Nobu - the editor.
Most of the footage has gone through the editing process and I am thankful for all the riders.
All I can do to finish everyone's great efforts is by creating the best film ever!!!
I’m feeling a good kind of pressure on me and I will do my best!

We heard those unfamiliar sounds around 4 am...

Meanwhile Nobu and Keiji were editing in another room and began to feel a bit of apprehension...

With their heart beating and a mop in hand they headed toward the sounds...

でもベランダに置いてあった缶ビールを散らかし、金属の網戸に穴をあけていく悪いヤツ！

But he messed up our beer cans on our balcony and broke a metal wire

たまには…Once in a while...

どもです！ケイジです。

たまに家から出ないとマズいんで、今日は忠とフォトグラファーのZIZO君と一緒にスケートしてきました！

駐車場の中にあるので雨の心配なくて調子いいです。

忠はお気に入りの新しいデッキで楽しそうに滑ってました。

いい汗かけて気持ちよかった〜。

この時期はスノーボードはもちろん、スケート、マウンテンバイク、クライミングなどなど体を動かす遊びが盛りだくさん。
天気がもう少しスカッと晴れたら最高なのにな〜！

Hello this is Keiji.
We should leave the house once in a while so today I went skateboarding with Tadashi and Zizo.
The skateboard park is underground in a parking lot in Creekside so it’s nice that we don’t need to worry about the weather.
Tadashi looked happy to skateboard on his favorite new deck.
We had a good time and worked up a sweat.

This time of the year, we can have fun snowboarding, skateboarding,
mountain biking, rock-climbing and more.
It’s so nice and even nicer if we could have little more sunshine.

最近コットンツリーから飛びまくっている綿。空に舞ってる時は雪みたいです。

My Blog: MLG Las Vegas National Championship!!!

Sorry I have not been on that long people, but I have been competing in the worlds most hardest Gaming Tournament and to let you all know my team New Era Won MLG National Championship on Sunday night destroying team HarmonyNHavoc with a 6 to 4 win and as well on top of that I am the new Team Capt. for New Era who is now going under a Pro Contract so we can take on all the teams at MLG again in 2008.

My Journal: Moved again

So I've realized that I've moved over 9 times in less than 5 years. First to Ellicottville NY, then to Viva Las Vegas for about 6 months, back to Cattaraugus NY, then to So. Lake Tahoe, from there to Monroe WA for about a week, up to Skykomish WA, then down to Leavenworth WA, from there it was Steamboat Springs CO, and now Summit County CO.

With this last move I've upgraded in shops that I'm working in. Its really interesting being back in a shop that carries 90% of the best snowboard gear in the world and skis. Huge jump in the right direction to get where I want to be. Let alone having a 5 mountain Vail pass for free rocks.

Jib Jam-boree a hit!

The inaugural JumpCamp Jib Jam-boree rocked! Competitors came from far and wide with one thing in mind; JumpCamp Glory! We're talkin' spin-in, spin-out tricks on our brand new ledge ( thanks for the ledge Jim! ), frontside to backside slides on the rainbow rail and some crazy buttering of the muffin on the JumpCamp roof step-up, built especially for the comp. Other highlights include eating burgers and hot dogs in the rain. Thanks to all the sponsors and shreds for coming out! We're going to have another contest before the end of the season so check the website for dates.

Coach Matt Brown considers shaving his long locks after seeing Britney Spears' new do. "I think I'd look good with a buzz-cut", Brown said before press time.

Road trips!
We're been on a few road trips lately. At JumpCamp we really love holiday road.
We headed off to Las Vegas to hob-nob with the snowboard industry a little while ago. We rode around in limos, gambled and ate buffets daily.
Coach Javan Wyker, that lucky ass, is off to Revelstoke to test out all the new '08 Ski-Doo sleds. Hope he gets stuck lots! Haha...

CONCRETE - THE SKATE PARK ISSUE March 2007
Remember the mag Concrete Powder? Well, now it's just Concrete 'cause it's all skateboarding, no shred-doggin'. Anyways, the new Concrete No Powder has a killer article about Courtenay and some rad pics in the skateparks around here. Our good buddy Sascha Daley has a bunch of wicked pics in there including a sick one of him kickflipping in the corner of Courtenay's indoor bowl at The Linc and one of him ollieing off a wharf into the water in Tofino. Brrrrr, shrinky, shrinky! My favourite one is of some little kid in the old Courtenay park going huge over one of the hips and there's some good ones in the new park such as a sequence of local home-dog Calen Drysdale. Nice one boys. Go grab it on newstands or at your local skate shop yo!

My Journal: So many choices...

You know, it's some much easier when you don't have a choice. then you just do what is there for you to do... i hate choices, mainly because I am so bad at them!

I know most of you have no idea what you're doing next week let alone for new years, but in the past couple weeks i have been bombarded with propositions, and since i have nothing better to do, I have been obsessively trying to solve my travel problems. And well, since i seem to be doing no good at it, it's your turn to solve them for me! ha!

I have just got a part time job on top of my part time teaching gig. That means that I should have enough cash to do 2 major trips this year. Here are my options...so far.

New Years.

-I really really wanted to go back to Whistler.. that place is like my crack... but I know i'll be there again this year

- Calgary. I spent new years there last year and had a great time with Jules adn the gang. And if the EC boys are planing on road tripping out there, I may be easily convinced to join.

-Cali. Riding Mammoth and Tahoe.... the only catch is i only know one of the guys on the trip...and I'd rather go see my friends then his. But, i still haven't been to the states.....

-Brazil: Beachhouse and surfing... sounds great.. although i'm partial to a boarding trip.

-Stay at home and save money for other random trips.

Then comes march break.. i was just going to keep it low key, but then last night I heard that a trip to Las Vegas may be in the works for a friends Birthday. haven't seen the girls for 4 years (they live in the States and Mexico) so it would be a nice getaway.. problem is it's only a weekend and not sure I want to spend all that cash on a little trip. I have an entire week.. but haven'T began to think about any other options yet... i mean that's next year! haha

I am 99% sure i will be there, so this is my 2nd major trip of the year.

So what should trip #1 be??? I have to get a deposit down on some of the trips soonish, so I sort of have2 weeks to make up my mind. Or for you to make it up for me!

So all is said and done...

After traveling for the last 5 weeks i have a new outlook on life......we left what seems to be years ago.....sept 1........fly to Las Vegas.....via LAX.....(probaly the worst airpot in the united states to trasfter through if u expect to see ur lugage again)....none the less we maked it alive to vegas......3 nights in suite at four seasons over looking the strip...heven....booze.....hotchicks.....fake tits...that palace is the best place on earth to be who ever you want......mandlay Bay....Trist....Jett....wynn...amazing places......only vegas a 60 of grey goose for 50 bucks....DONT STOP BELIVIN THAT WHISTLER..

Sunday morning...raight from club T.A.O. to the airport we go.......o ya ..i forgot to say..its labor day weekend at las vegas international....crazyesyt security line and baggege i have ever scene in my LIFE.

ahha so we arrive in miami.........its kinda raining..so we rent a caddy for a week and drive to orlando......hit paris hiltons new club...."CLUB PARIS" wow..that slut can create a party......V.I.P.....buy a bottle of goose for 60 bucks......and ur game on......girls even know how to dance there.....lil raggetone with latin....in love.....it seems in the states that ppl can not really drink to our well trained buy garfinkles and the beagle..mr hoff..kyle and brendons abilitys.......so its a challange to find a groupe that can keep up....so we found some nigges..that could ball and we got crunk up...

between orlando and tampa...hit disney and tampa bay checked out busche gardens ..that was rad...almost puked...good times...

7 days later arrive back in maimi....hit south beach for 3 nights...at club manchion...baller club.....sick girls..........miami ..south beach..not all its cracked to up to be...so we headed to Bahamas to visit some frinds in EXUMA....place is amzing,,,,,40 degrees on a 65 foot catimaran in the carribean...and diving in crystal blue waters...open bar.....once again...heven,,,

Nothing illustrates americas hypocritical drug policy more then las vegas. A cop there once told me If you get caught with any amount of illegal drug in las vegas you could either be heavily fined or do up to four years in prison. And i was like but isnt this vegas where gambling is legal? Yeah lose your car your house your life savings, go for it. And you can drink here too right all night long? Yeah its free drink till you puke we dont care. What if i get horny? GET A HOOKER. Just whatever you do dont go to your room by yourself, smoke a joint, eat a snickers and go to bed without bothering anyone.

You see son we're trying to clean up las vegas. We're trying to make it safe for the drunks who wanna gamble and f*ck whores all night.

Man, those drunken whore f*ckers got some nerve.....

Snowboard.com News: THE BLOCK Reality Show Starts Taping in S. Lake Tahoe!!

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, THE BLOCK Hotels and G4 willl work together on the final hands-on auditions to determine who most deserves to be THE BLOCK Party '06 Event Coordinator. The position wil require multi-tasking and the ability to create memorable events for snowboarders, as well as serve as general liaison for the sponsors, the City of South Lake Tahoe, Harrahs, Mont Blu, Harveys and Bills Casino in Lake Tahoe, CA up to December 8, 9, and 10.
"We have offers out in Canada, France, Switzerland, Colorado and California...this could lead to a full-time job of snowboarding and event planning for THE BLOCK Hotels, I wish I could apply," says Liko S. Smith, Managing Owner of THE BLOCK Hotels and Co-Executive Producer of the show. "Instead of a newspaper ad; we reached out to our friends in the snowboard community and we received more applicants than we could handle,"...he adds..." It's not as much a competition as it is a way to find the right person for the current need...one candidate will be selected, however everyone invited is going to win in some way," he finishes.
The final auditions include a 5-minute DVD from the applicant explaining why they are the ideal snowboarder for this position. This weekend's events will include a series of opportunities for the right snowboarder to differentiate him or herself from other applicants by participating in team and individual activities.

The list of final applicant includes:

2. Steve Caprio
3. Gary Hanson
4. Dan Gordan,
5. Michael Swift
6. Dan Champions

A final schedule of activities is being kept under raps. Stay tuned for the audition highlights when THE BLOCK reality show premieres in early 2007.

Day 9 - Los Angeles, CA to Newport Beach, CA
-Stayed at the ultra-swanky Fairmont in the heart of the OC.

Day 10 - Newport Beach, CA to Encinitas, CA
-Set up camp in surfer's paradise - San Elijo State Beach

Day 11 - Encinitas, CA
-Went surfing ... so much fun ! Really nice consistant southern swell, caught some nice tubes. Awesome day!

Day 12 - Encinitas, CA
-Went into San Diego and checked out the sights. Picked Jane up at the airport.

Day 13 - Encinitas, CA to Tijuana, MEX
-Enjoyed the 3rd world which is Mexico. Got pretty drunk off rum & tequila. VIVA MEXICO!

Day 14 - Tijuana, MEX to Grand Canyon, AZ
-Long drive through the desert. Drug dogs and border patrol were at the CA/AZ state line, checking vehicles. We got waived through. I've never breathed a large sigh of releif in my life! Past Phoenix, Flagstaff, and to the GC.

Day 15 - Grand Canyon, AZ
-Hiked about 10KM of the Rim Trail... Spectacular!!!
-Hiked a few KM of the Kabob Trail.
-Watched the Sunset.

Day 16 - Grand Canyon, AZ to Las Vegas, NV
-Watched the Sunrise at 5am. Awesome!
-Drove to Vegas.
-Explored Vegas's sites and went to a nice buffet dinner.

Day 17 - Las Vegas, NV
-Dropped Jane off at the airport.
-Explored Vegas
-Went to a Beatles remake show... just like the real thing!
-Got supremely wasted and gambled the night away with Lorna. I had to pretty much walk her out of the casino... amazing we weren't booted out!

Day 18 - Las Vegas, NV to Yosemite National Park, CA
-Great to be back in the Northern Mountains. Fresh water, fresh air.... ahhh yes :)

Day 19 - Yosemite National Park, CA
-As someone said in the 1800s, Yosemite is the valley of 1,000 valleys. What I saw here in one day is more than I would see almost anywhere else in a year.... my favorite park of all time!
-Hiked the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail.... unbeleivable!

Day 20 - Yosemite National Park, CA to Lake Tahoe, CA
-My friend Ashley from Sacremento came and visited for the night. Nice to see you Ash!

Day 21 - Lake Tahoe, CA to CA/OR State Line
-Hiked around the lake and chilled on a beach for awhile.
-Thunderstorms began to set in so we left at 4pm with plans to drive straight to Whistler. By midnight we were at the state line.

Day 22 - CA/OR State Line to Whistler, BC
-Drove straight through the night and finally made it back to Whistler at 2pm. 1800KM in one shot - not bad at all!

My Journal: The Chaos That Is Vegas

I recently returned from the ski and snowboard tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was my third year at the show, but somehow very different than years before. Its common knowledge that Vegas is filled with drinking and debauchery, and in past years I had been both drunk and overindulged. It may have been that I was bitter for hauling my snowboard gear fifteen hundred kilometers and not getting to make use of it, or that friends had enlightened me about the liquor store across from the Hard Rock (thus getting me ten drinks for the price of two). Either way, I was completely inebriated the entire 4 days I was there. Sleep was minimal and memories are vague and unclear. I used pictures from my digital camera, and stories from friends to piece together a timeline of what happened and who I hung out with. I'm still not sure if I'm complaining about this years experiences or not; maybe I just need to tone it down a notch for next year, that way maybe I will recognize all these people that keep messaging me on snowboard dot com.

Hey! Yesterday we drove for about 27 hours straight! From Las Vegas to Canada, at an average speed of about 140kph! Ive been pretty much sleeping since we got back! But anyways, that was definetely the road trip of a lifetime! 6300 kms of fun! I cant believe how much we saw and how many things we did in the couple of weeks we were driving around down there! Vegas was incredible! We all had an awesome time there and we stayed at the MIRAGE!!! There was a DC store in Vegas! Ive never seen vic so excited!!!! haha But Umm yeah I will add a heap of photos to the gallery later today so you guys can check out what we got up to! Im still tired! Ill write again soon!

Hey World, Im in San Diego! Its been an awesome trip so far! We've been to San Francisco and LA for a while and weve been here in San diego for a couple of days now! Yesterday we oficially went border to border when we crossed into Tijuana Mexico. We went there for the day and that was plenty! Cheap Margharitas and Burritos and Donkeys painted to look like Zebras! Anyways, We havbe met up with Vic and her friend Georg from the hair thing in LA and we've been hangin out so its been cool. We have come up with a new idea and we think we might drive to Las Vegas in a couple of days to check that out over the weekend and then maybe go to the Grand Canyon and see that while we are over that way! We went to Sea world today and went swimming with some dolphins and saw Shamu, it was a good day I really like San Diego its heaps nicer than LA! But Umm yeah thats about it from me here and now,... I will write again soon!
