Snowboard.com News: Still B with Karl Fuhre
By: Snowboard.com

It's been almost a decade since lil' Bastards, why the long wait?

We'll it really hasn't been a decade since we put out a video.  During the filming of Lil' Bastards the Wildcats were born.  The next couple video project that came next simply came out as Wildcats films but obviously followed the same format as Lil' Bastards.   Truthfully at first we weren't even planning to do a sequel.  We just wanted to put out Lil' bastards on DVD for our team and friends.  Before i knew it the project snowballed into a double feature and Dev and JF had some how tricked me into managing the project.

I guess you cut Christina and used Paris instead, how did you guys come up with the sound track?

For the soundtrack we just wanted something fun to listen to before shredding as well as something we could throw in as a pre-party warm up.  Basically everyone who was involved sent in songs and we went from there.  Musics always a battle because you can never please everyone.  The two songs I really pushed for were the Bastards day song by Eddie Murphy and Rick James "Party all the time" and the credit song by Lionel Ritchie "All night long".  We actually just had someone e-mail in saying they had a girl over while watching Still B's and he got lucky while using it for background music.  That's gotta say something.  The one song that caused us the most problems was the one in Duffs part.  He absolutely hates it and refused to go to any of the premiere for the first month.  He's over it now but we had a couple fun weeks.. ahaha

I noticed JF is the excat same as he was back in 98.  Is everyone still basically the same?

Yeah I'd have to say no ones really changed much.  They're all pretty much doing the same shi*t they have since Still Bastards. Snowboarding and partying... That's why we went with the name "Still Bastards" instead of "Big Bastards".  Its not like anyone got any bigger.  I'd have to say out of everyone the only person who's really changed since Lil' Bastards is Devun.  He definitely keeps it classier more often than the rest.  It might have something to do with being married..  But than again, JF has a family he doesn't seem to be slowing down what so ever.

So I guess it's safe to say that it doesn't matter what happens in life, you can always have a good time with your friends?

Still Bastards is pretty much a documentary of all our friends having the time of their lives on and off the hill.  Its all about balance, as long as you're having fun you're doing pretty good. haha

What's the main thing you hope people take away from watching this?

I hope that after watching Still Bastards people will want to go out and buy a shi*t load of IS and WC gear so we can keep doing these types of projects. Haha  Joking, joking... Well half joking.  Still Bastards shows you a pretty up close and personal view of each rider.  After watching it you'll probably feel like you know these guys much better and hopefully understand a little more what IS Design and Wildcats is all about.  Bottom line, we just want people to be stoked to shred and go out and have a good time with there friends.

What is your favourite parts of the movie?

Its hard to say which parts are my favorites.  Dev's, Paris, 8mile, Dickie's, Bastards day, Gaetan, Tadashi's, JF's and the credits are all pretty entertaining. Not to mentions the hidden bonus'.
Finally having Lil' Bastards on DVD is pretty cool too.

Big White and ESPO seemed like the crazy trips of the year?  How'd you survive?

I have no idea, both trips definitely took an incredible toll on my health.  I guess just lots of practice.  I've been throwing myself into these extreme types of party situations for years now..

How was hanging out with Tom Green and Dave England?

Hanging out with Tom Green and Dave England was a blast.  Both those dudes are Fookin' Noots...  They came back to our Condo to party while were up at Big White filming for the feature film "Shred".
Dave wizzed on everything in sight, while Tom got way into Karaoke then stopped us from messing with JF when he was passed out in his own puke.  Its pretty scary when Tom Green's the voice of reason..

Do you have any messages or knowledge that you want to pass down to the younger generation?

Just do it!

Shout outs?

Yeah if you can send people to www.isdsgn.com to buy to movie that would be awesome!

For the month of December anyone who purchases a copy of Still Bastards through our site will also get 1 Wildcats stomp pad, 1 matching Pilsner Koozie, 1 Still Bastards poster and 1 IS design keychain while supplies last!

Unbelievable, yes we know...

We haven't announced this unitl now so pay very special attention. We printed one very special Still Bastards DVD cover which looks like this:

If by chance you've ordered a Still Bastards DVD online and it features the Benji/JF GT doubling shot for cover art you've just won yourself plus one a night in Paris. We're not talking Paris France what you've won is one night of partying, which also includes a cozy spot on the floor at JF Pelchats Whistler hostel in Emerald. This dream night come true of "french style" partying can only be attained through copies of the Still Bastards purchased through the www.isdsgn.com site. Good luck. Either way you' ll need it..

Squamish news: Muriel "Kale's Grandmorther" has just recently founded a theatre night which is held every Wednesday at their Squamish home. When asked why she responded " I wanted to give Kale and his snowboard buddies something else to do besides wasting their time with those funny cigarettes and facebook".

Photographed below: Mikey, Paavo and Jbone exploring theatre at the Stephens' house.

The groups rendition of the classic "The Wizard of Oz" will premiere at the squamish rec centre at the end of the month. Keep posted for details.

Your first Alterna snowboard movie came out in 2000, The Struggle.  Is it still a struggle today?

It’s always a struggle but we always find ways to overcome our challenges.
Creating snowboard films is definitely not the easiest of tasks, you have so many variables that need to come together for a film to be successful. Good light, snow conditions, crews that mesh well and solid sponsorship are only some of the various elements that need to work well in order to create a solid film.

What is a typical year like for you?

We pretty much film and travel from when the snow hits until around May of the following year. I guess that also depends on the type of snow year we are faced with, when we filmed Shrediquette a few years back we had the challenge of having hardly any snow, we were forced to go to Argentina in July to make up for lack of footage.

This year we traveled to Norway in July to get some "on the road" footy because we pretty much spent the whole season in Whistler.  Look out for the save of the century which took place on this trip care of JF FORTIN in the beginning of his segment.

As far as going to Vegas for the asr trade show we have been more successful gaining sponsorship outside of the show it seems its more of a good time than a time to do business.

Summers are now spent at our new office on the North Shore of Vancouver editing and going out fishing and boating as much as possible which is not that much.

One of my favourite video parts is Travis Williams in Breaking Ground.  Do you have any favourite parts or sections that really stick out for you in your past 8 projects?

I guess the parts that stick out the most right off the top of my head are Mike Page's Struggle segment, the Poland section in IN TRANSIT, Trav's Breaking Ground segment, JF's Reflection segment, Beardmore's Fast Food segment this year the new faces like Takaharu Nakai and Matt Belzile stood out.

Do you think the internet is killing the video star?

I know that more people are watching our films because of the internet and less people are buying them. When I was in Finland last year all the up and coming finnish groms all had burned copies of almost every snowboard film. Europe is always a step ahead with this technology and North America will follow.  We are hoping that added value to our packaging like the insertion of an Apples & Oranges bandana this year will encourage people to buy the DVD.

What do you see for the future of snowboard films?

In my opinion, online distribution is definitely the future of snowboard flicks. People want to see movies right away and if you have your computer connected to your TV like most will in the future buying and viewing your favourite film will be one click away.

The latest project coming out of Alterna is Apples & Oranges.  What can we expect?

We shot the film in true HD so that is also a new element. Expect a 20 plus video layered intro that will have you re-watching it for sure. This year in some of the segments especially in Matt Belzile's part we miked Matt for his entire part.  Apples & Oranges also has the most cable cams and dolly shots that we have ever employed in any of our productions.

How large is the crew that put it all together this year?

During the winter there are seven production people together and we also contract out additional help during the winter for certain sessions. Myself and Bryant Bell are full time in the office on the North Shore.

I noticed that you popped the question if people would prefer Blue-ray vs. HD-DVD.  What are you thinking of going with?

It looks like Blue Ray for North America and HD DVD for Europe. 720p Downloads were also a big request. We will be releasing an HD downloadable version of Apples & Oranges closer to Christmas.

What would you like people to take away from watching Apples & Oranges?

Hopefully after watching Apples & Oranges you get stoked to go out and shred for yourself.

Where and when can people come out to the premieres?

All premieres will be listed on our website www.alternaactionfilms.com

Any shout outs?

Big Shout out to all the riders, production crew and sponsors involved in supporting the creation of past Alterna films and our latest release Apples & Oranges.

till Bastards DVD cover / story time..

Dev, JF and myself have been working hard on the DVD art for the Bastards double feature scheduled to be released fall 2007. This project will include the DVD re-release of the cult classic "Little Bastards" along with the highly anticipated sequel "Still Bastards"..

Below is what JF wants to run with for the cover of the DVD..

Let us know what you think..

Story time:

It all started a couple summers back with a little trip to D-Blocks' cabin on Thornmanby Island which is located a ferry ride away from North Vancouver just off Sunshine coast. Its a great spot to get away with your buddies for a weekend of tacklers and beach type activity... You really have to plan out what you need for the whole weekend because once you're there, there's no stores or anything to pick up last minute supplies. On this particular trip as soon as we got to the cabin we realized no one brought music which was a bit of a bummer because as you should know, coldies and tunes kind of go hand and hand. So the J-man and myself start digging around the cabin to find some tunes to rock out to when we stumble upon this old Grateful Dead CD. It was a 72' compilation or something. Already a solid number of charmers deep we put the CD in and started vibing out to the tunes on the back deck while taking in the views and squinting happily in the sun "lost our shades during an aggressive boat ride". After a couple solid listens through we end up finding this one song that had some pretty great lyrics "we can share the women, we can share the wiiiiiinnnee" and put that sucker on repeat for a good hour before D-block joined in on the deck hang.. Not even a one full play of the song and D-block starts asking "what the hell are hippies listening to?" and we're like "just give it a chance D-block, its pretty good once you get into it" At this point me and J-Man are feeling pretty good "buzzed" and the whole fact that the song really bugs D-man makes it that much better. We probably had it on repeat for a solid three more hours before D-block threatened to throw it in the garbage.. To this day its the Cabin's theme song and we continue to force it upon all new comers. In fact, we were just at the D-Blocks cabin this weekend and successfully pushed the song on a whole new group of friends. By the end of the weekend they were so into it that on Monday morning a youtube link of the song live in concert was blasted out to all the cabin attendee's. Those hippies sure do know how to make good summertime drinking music. Check em' out...

Listen to it for an hour or so on your back deck in the sun and try to tell me you don't feel the magic..

Last may, we went back to my first backcountry jump, the G-gap named after JF Giasson who found it. On the first day, the crew was composed of Alex, Louif, Me and G himself to built the jump. We got on the site at 9 o'clock in the morning and dug all day till 7 at night. I think I got the worst sunstroke of my life, stupid sun! On the next day, Melancon, Tremblay and Benbi joined us to hit the gap, Pedro(Fred Coté) and Will Demers covered some other angle and Oli Gagnon was our photographer. They still owe us a 6 pack each for the previous day of digging, but I think they all forgot... On the second day, like last year, my slede broke down on top of the "S" chute, by the way, it's all fix now and it's for sale! The jump and the runway needed a little more work so by noon, everybody was ready for the session. Tremblay went first and cleared the gap good, after he did a bs 5 and really nice backside 7 that you can see in the teaser. Me and Louif did frontside 360 and later, I tried fs 900 but ended up short. Melancon did some bs 720 like it was a walk in the park and Benbi had some really nice bs 180 but unfortunately, didn't stomp any. The session ended at around 7 o'clock and thanks to my brother who towed my sled back down the hill, we were in our truck by 8... Who said backcountry was easy!!? Oh yeah, Will Demers....

Jun shot Kosuke’s method air sequence!

All the riders were having a hard time but Aki made a high spin and nice landing. He was so good.Tomorrow will also be sunny, so we’ll go shooting as well!Maybe it’s a glacier?.

At the heart house.

It’s Hiromi!!!!

At the heart house, there are many fun incidents happenning everyday.

Recently, many ants have been seen in the house, and finally, Kosuke and Shota decided to catch them and keep them as their pets!!!

They of cause feed them and show their ants to each other (thousands of ants), and it is so gross. One day, Shota’s ants escaped!!!

By morning, all of Shota’s ants were gone from the liquor bottle because he didn’t close the lid.The escaped ants were a lot like their owner.

Finally, Shota changed his hair!!!The theme of his his hair style is “Helmet”!!!Taro searched “Helmet” on the internet and he cut Shota’s hair to model ahelmet’s image. All of us had a good time watching the transformation.

Before

After

Our great team can create a great hair style!!!Now Shota can go into the black park without wearing a helmet!!!(Black Park is on Blackcomb Mt. and you must wear a helmet to ride the park.)

Hi, it’s Keiji-the filmer.

Despite the bad weather, we went shooting with our sleds for the first time in a few days.

The members were Tadashi, Koni, Shota, and me.

We took our sled to a spot which is a small dam, thinking of No one else will think to do this...

Jump over a bent metal pipe, jump over a brook and slide a ledge...etc

On the way back, with our house just around the corner, we got into a traffic jam.

After waiting 30minutes we could see what had happened.

A huge logging truck had lost his load and was upside down!!

I don’t ever want to get into this kind of trouble...wow.

Hello! It’s Taro the filmer.Shota, Jun, Kosuke and I went to the back country.

Today, we had a very clear day in a long while. We looked for some nice-conditioned lines and rode them.

It was great that we could shoot under such a nice sky!!

We went to see this waterfall while we were in Squamish to buy oil for our sleds. We heard that we could get some negative ions in places like waterfalls, but there were a swarm of mosquitoes and we left there right away.

Hi there! We went shooting yesterday and today!

Sorry that we couldn’t update our blog. The members for yesterday’s session were Tadashi, Koni, Aki, Dice and Keiji.

It was such nice weather so we had a great session. We didn’t have such nice skies for a long time so we were stoked!

We kept moving from spot to spot and took many photos and videos. Aki’s huge front flip stoked us out!

Despite the fact we left the house at 6:30am, we got home a little past 8pm.It was a very tough shooting day.

Setting a lunch box in our sled to warm it up. It looks good.

MASSAGE TIME!

It’s bad weather and we were off today. So! We massaged each other and it felt really great! (don’t take me wrong!)

We always overuse our body so even if the outside looks good, our inside of our body is screaming!

But, you know, we don’t give up until we land the trick like when Aki spun a 4 time back flip... that’s why our body is crying so hard!

Ooookeeey, I’ll do some Yoga stretching.Stretching is really important, guys. How about this pose?

It’s deep!

Hello, yesterday we (Tadashi, Koni, Aki, Keiji) went shooting.

The weather was not as good as I expected and some clouds appeared throughout the day. But we got some nice shots! At some points, the snow was good and deep.

We hit some wind lips, rode a big chute and had a session at a rock-over jump. Koni made a back side one smoothly.

Aki tried a cab 9.

He exploded when he landed but it was so cool.Everybody had a good time.

This is the chute that Tadashi rode. He made a new speed record for sure!

We found a huge log!

Winter again!

The winter come again to Whistler!

We had some warm days lately but today was snowing.

Maybe it’ll be powder snow tomorrow!

At night, we went to the public practice session for the BIG AIR for the TELUS WORLD FESTIVAL!

Shota entered the BIG AIR contest, Taka did the half pipe and Natazsa did the Stompede.

Because of the new snow, most of the riders couldn’t get enough speed and they couldn’t make their landings.

But upon tomorrow’s real contest, the landing should be maintained and the riders will show us some great tricks!

I’m so excited!

I’ll enjoy myself and try hard!

Hello, It’s Kosuke.I’m surprised that there is so much snow.

I’ll enjoy myself too and step it up!

Hmm...good snow...

It’s Konishi!

I wasn’t expected any good snow today but once I went up to the mountain, hooray!

There was powder snow!Today, I went up with Tadashi, Taka and Keiji.

We hit some jumps and we went free riding on a loooong powder run! We found really nice lines like when we go heli-boarding.

I felt so nice! Also, today, Jun and Kosuke came to Whistler so the Heart house became busy and our living space became smaller.

But it would be more lively and fun.

The Suzuki brothers and Taro are making some meat cut-let.

It’s already 11pm...We are sure that we’ll have so much fun here.

Ski resort in Vancouver!

Hello, Hello!

We went to a ski resort in Vancouver today because we thought that the Wild Cat’s event will be held there.

But! No one was there!!We were riding a box and finally Devan and JF and Karl (manager of IS DESIGN) showed up.

But they came up for a meeting to discuss the layout of the GT sled’s race...So... we just rode half pipe for some fun.

Hiking up the pipe brought back memories of some years ago...

We used to practice with a crappy half pipe... Sweet memories. (?!)

This is Takumi’s one foot mctwist! Isn’t he awesome?

2007.04.08 Sunday

Spring timeIt's warm...

It’s 4 degrees even on the mountain today.

Spring has come to Whistler. We shot some hip jumps today.

The members were Tadashi, Koni, Taka, John-photographer and me-Keiji.

Taka rode his sled for the first time and he looked really tired as he said “Maybe I can’t even make a grab...”

The weather was not so good and we had to wait around for the sun to take a shot.Waiting for the sun is more tiring than you can imagine...

Also the landing was bad and it was a difficult condition but the riders tried again and again!

So we could take some good shots.

Wall Ride!

This is Keiji!

We went shooting at a wall ride which Natazsa has been itching to hit.

Koni came with us and we had so much fun because the combination of riders were different than the usual suspects.

Natazsa hit the front side wall with great height and Koni made a front side 3 at the back side wall even though they said “I’ve never done this and I don’t know how to ride!”.

It looked like an alley oop and it was so cool.

Beautiful sky! It was about 7pm. The days will be getting longer and longer in the springtime in Canada.

04/06/07

2007.04.06 Friday

Spring has come to Whistler!

It’s Konishi.Takumi, Tadashi, Keiji, Ishihara-kun(He appeared for the first time in a long time) and me went snowboarding at the Whistler park.

I haven’t been snowboarding at this park so I was excited to take this opportunity and just go riding.

It was getting warmer and the board was sliding bad, but there were some rare items like a stepping-up kicker or a stepping-down so I enjoyed the park.

I saw Ishihara-kun riding rails for the first time. He was good.

Takumi did a front flip, he was good too.

Tadashi fell. It was unlike him and it looked painful.

I tried a back side 720 so many times but I couldn’t land it. I also couldn’t land some other tricks.

That’s the way sometimes!

Long time no see!! It’s Hiromi!!

I went to the event called “go for it” which is an annual event for a snowboard shop in Fukushima!!This year, the event was held at night and it was raining but we had fun with a box, a drum and a wall.

Mikey and Benedek were there too!

They were so cool!!

At the night party I did IT again, same as last year...A girls dance trio(who were wearing sexy T-back panties) were going to reggae dance, but before their show, I(wearing big T-shirt and sweat pants) danced reggae.

I’m really sorry.I was too excited to take any photos. Sorry!

2007.04.04 Wednesday

Clear sky!

It was super sunny today♪So we headed out with our sleds early in the morning!

The members were Shota, Koni and me-Keiji.

Takumi took the day off for his neck was a bit sore.

We had to go through some hard bumps to get to the spot.

Shota and I had been there before and we had already gotten used to the bumps, but Koni was having a hard time because it was his first time out on his sled in a long time.

We arrived to the spot where we couldn’t take any shots the other day.

2007.04.03 Tuesday

Coooold day.Hey, it’s Keiji.

I went shooting with Shota today. Since morning it was so chilly and on the top of the mountain the temperature was minus 15 degrees.

It had been a while for us to feel this damn cold in a long time so we got tired super fast.We spent the entire morning hitting some jumps but in the afternoon it started getting dark and clouds rolled in as soon as we got to our new spot.

We were like, “It’ll be fine!” “Yeah it’s going to get better!”and waited for sunshine for one and half hours.

In the end, we couldn’t get any shots because of the weather so we were frustrated!

We had been teased by the Sun...I don’t like having to wait for the sun.

We felt like we couldn't go home empty handed so we made a kicker at another place. Koni came back from Japan so hopefully he will help change the mood tomorrow and we will go shoot something different tomorrow.

04/02/07

2007.04.02 Monday

A little bit of...

Hello, it’s Keiji the filmer. We had some snow fall in Whistler after a long time of now new snow.I hope that on the mountain there may be new snow accumilation. (I wish)

I’ll wake up early and go shooting with Takumi&Shota.

I wonder if Tadashi’s crew got to Srewart all right. It’s kind of long drive...

Hopefully they will get to shoot some new and fun things despite their super tight schedule!

The rest of us will do our best or more!

The time is now!

PS. Koni, who was in Japan will come back today. Natasza recovered from her injury and she is now snowboarding... (^^)

Oops, maybe I can be a good English speaker.Nahhhhh, it’s not going to happen!!!

But I studied some English words!

More than sixty people showed up with their sleeping bags and their Shrooms on Saturday the 24th for a fun day and a sleepover party that will go down in history along with the Big White party held previously this winter. Despite the shi*tty weather the Bastards camp was a success, the Boyz from Still B worked their asses off that week to build a GT-cross course, a GT big air and hauling all the food and booze up the mountain. The highlight of the day was Devun’s 360 on the big gab, special guest appearance from Cashless and the tasty wieners. The casualty of wars was JF’s shoulder separation on the Big Air early in the day but after going to the hospital JF had his shoulder taped by his personal physiotherapist and sent back up to finish what he had started. Everybody stayed for the night and the party was crazy, the music was pumping to the sound of DJ SHROOMS and the booze was consumed in huge amounts (thanks to Red Bull and Pilsener). The party went well into the early hours and next day everybody stormed out of the place and ran for their lives because of the scare of catching scabies. Thanks to everyone that showed up and to our special sponsors Red Bull, Pilsener, Wildcats and IS. This party and many others will be feature in the upcoming flick “Still Bastards” coming out fall 07, new teaser will be up very soon and so is the new “Still Bastards” website so make sure to check regularly for updates.

Party gone wild!!!!!!!!

Camp Bastard!!! You need to see this!

Wow, did that really just happen? It's still all kind of a blur but let me just say I'm relieved/amazed we all made it through the Bastard Camp Trip without any life threatening injury's. JF did separate his shoulder but toughed it out and hung around till Sunday with the rest of the crew. 60 plus people made it up Brohm for a day and evening full of GTing, BBQing, Red Bulls, Pilsner and good times.

Most of Saturday was spent on the GT course watching the Dev show. He sure knows how to handle a GT. He did a 360 on his GT over the big jump that looked as smooth as one he'd do on his snowboard. Dev was definitely the standout on the course. I think the fact that he weighs as much as the 13 year olds GT's are actually built for gave him a bit of an advantage...

Above Dustin Craven gets his eagle on..

After the day party (which some people may have taken a little too far. Bart I hope you're doing better) we made our way back to the itchy cabin to really fire things up. I'm not sure if it was the elevation but I'd be lying if I didn't say things got a little weird up there but I guess that's what happens when you gather the caliber of finely tuned drunks that we hang out with all into a creepy cabin in the woods.

Below: Jake the bottle, pleasantly surprised.

Party fact: Out of 60 plus people there wasn't one reported case of bed wetting. Considering who was at the party, this truly is remarkable. The party gods were definitely looking out for us. We're still waiting on the numbers for people who contracted scabies. Those should be in by the end of the week. Keep posted

While Browners shirtless rave was going off inside the cabin the bangers hung outside by the fire. In the photo above: Donn Hore "the head banger in charge" and at the time one shoe short, gets ready to launch Dev into the banger pit.

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the Bastard Camp Trip happen...

Ross Bong/ Raven style

Hey remember snowboard gold medalist Ross Rebagliati?

No he's not on our team but when we were in Big White on the set of the movie Shred JF did make Ross do a beer bong.

Judging by the look on his face Ross wasn't expecting the bong to be loaded with beer...

Talking about sweet looks on face's check out the one on IS Design sales manager Steve Day's face.

Feel the intensity!

The Wildcats Blog: Avalanche
By: TheWildcats

This picture was taken on top of S chute near the blowhole.

The day started really good for Benji, Dano, Fred and Jf. They already had a jump under their belts and They were looking at a step down jump. Benji wanted to check the snow so he fired up his sled and went up the steep hill while JF was waiting at the bottom with his sled not running and facing uphill.  When Benji came down something weird happen, all the snow around his sled started to crumble.  JF didn't think any of it until he saw the extend of the fracture and the wall of snow coming down towards him;  That's when I fired up my sled and punch it but my sled was digging in the snow and not moving said JF, after a few second the sled started to move and I was traveling alongside the avalanche while this was happening I look to my side and saw Fred, Dano and Benji  all racing towards a safe spot.  When the Avi stop we all look at each others and couldn't believe what just happen, we were all stunned and knew that it could of been really bad.  The boyzzzzzzz are sitting on 15 foot of debris, safe and sound. They will live to drink another beer, Avalanche are very unpredictable so travel with care and be extra cautious.

The Bastards Day feature...

First off let me start by saying Bastards Day was an absolute blast.. I'm still not sure how we managed to pull it all together. The whole thing started out with Dev, JF and myself trying to figure out a way to get the whole crew together for a fun day of filming. Next think I know we have Seymour locked down for the location and Pilsner and Redbull on board for sponsors.

When all those frosty Pilsner tacklers showed up to the office I knew Bastards day was gonna be a day to remember. Setting up the event seemed easy enough. We already picked up 10 GT's and had food & beverages covered.. All we had left to do was build the GT course and a couple obstacles to snowboard on. Wrong.. The Tuesday before the event was an extreme low point. We almost called off the whole thing. Nothing was ready and there was now snow cat or anyone to help get this thing together. Lucky we had JF to take things into his own hands and do what he does best "boss everyone around". All of a sudden we had Seymour employee's who had no idea who we were or that we were even doing an event working for us. It took us two full eight hour days up Seymour digging in the snow to build everything to the level of quality the Bastards deserved. Above: me and Stevie test a couple Pilsners prior to the event.

The GT cross course turned out better than I could of imagined. All I have to say is Dev is an amazing jump builder. The GT course started with a steep drop into a super poppy step down into a steeper landing that led into a roller. If you made it past that then there were 3 massive berms that you'd be cooking into with three other guys on GT's. That was usually where everyone would go down. It ended with a second step down over the Bastards banner with an optional hip. It was so much fun. I personally hiked it 50 times. Above: Kale and his lady cross the finish line.

We had all types of wacky weather the morning of Bastards day. It started out foggy, cleared up, turned cloudy, then dumped for about 20 minutes until the sun finally popped out for the rest of the day. Above: Mikey tells everyone about the new rash going around Eight Mile in front of the Redbull tent during the mid April snow storm.

Bastards day was a snowboard groupies wet Dream. The who's who of the shred scene were all there to take part in the bastardism. Above: Dev and Ikka put on their game faces before the first heat of GT cross.

Even Dickie "the future" Pricklesteen made it up to Bastards day. Must of been between trips. He was an absolute mess until he jumped on his tie dyed GT and guzzled a box of Pilsner. Dickie and Eero got into an argument over who's jacket was brighter but they're all good now..

The Bastards who weren't GTing were posted up in the snow cave which included a DJ booth, a 4 foot long BBQ with more meat than you could imagine and of course a bar stacked with Pilsner, Redbull and Vodka.. Above: Jbone back flips off the snow cave QP, over the Pilsner wall and into the snow cave bar area shirtless(obviously Paavo's request)....

Thanks to JF, Dev, Andy and everyone at Seymour, Paul at Pilsner, Gabriel at Redbull, Damon, Jbone, Chucky, Brisky, Duff all the Wildcats, and everyone who made it up to help and take part in such fun day. Next ones gonna be bigger and better. Keep an eye out for footage in "Still Bastards" out fall 07.........

The “Bastards“ day started out cloudy with the occasional snowstorms but by midday the skies cleared up and the party was on. Jf Pelchat was on early cooking on the BBQ  burgers and dogs for all while Devun Walsh was smoothing and fine tuning the GT cross course. We had over 300 Pilsner beers and five forties of Vodka + endless case of Red bull to keep the boys fueled and energized while racing the GT.  J-bone was doing handplants and Wildcats shirtless on a QP carve on the wall of the snow cave and Devun landed the impossible, a 360 and a bar spin on the GT. “Still Bastards” would like to thanks everyone that showed up and all the sponsors that help with the events: Mount Seymour, Red Bull, Pilsner beer, IS Desgn and Wildcats. This event was a blast and we hope to see you all next year, see the full run down in “Still Bastards” the movie out fall 07.

Special thanks to Chuky, J-bones, K-man, Gabe and the cat driver you guys rock.
