My Blog: r u emo?

href="http://www.areyouemo.com/quiz.php">
You are sorta emo. You listen to Radiohead and enjoy their eclectic sound, but haven't pushed past into the underground indie subculture. The closest to emo attire that you own is maybe a few band t-shirts and tight jeans.

Group Name:

Animal Nation

Artists:

Steige 'Tall Man' Turner, Mike 'Armadillo Slim' Armitage.

How/What started Animal Nation?

Tall Man - An almost fight between me and Mike about whether or not a certain band was any good. I told him he wouldn't know good music if he made it himself. Turns out he did.

When did you decide that this was something that you two wanted to take to the next level?

TM - I don't remember taking it to the first level! Haha. I mean, it's been about ten billion tiny little baby steps, so it's been more of an uphill climb. Up a steep pitch. And we're both pulling really heavy refrigerators.

AS - And my refrigerator is filled with beer! (for a little while)

What’s your music background?

TM - I guess my dad used to play the drums. He was a studio musician for a while, but he hung up the kit when I was born, so I never really knew about that side of him until I found a drum kit in the garage one day. Jackpot!

AS - I don't have too much of a musical background besides the fact that I used to write a lot of poetry growing up. My mom tried to get me playing the piano and the violin when I was younger but I was too much of a rebel to listen to her. Momma's always right!

Who plays instruments?

AS - We have a house full of different instruments from slide whistles to potato shakers, but for the most part we just use them to jam out with. Steige plays the guitars and MPC and is getting good at the piano too. I just stick to the turntables and my voicebox mostly.

Take us through the process of creating a new song?

TM - We like drink until we blackout. That has nothing to do with creating a song, but we like to drink until we blackout.

AS - Its a really magical feeling knowing that you can create something besides a baby when you are drunk as a skunk and cruising in auto-pilot!

How do you guys get your beats? Do you create everything? Who is more into creating the beats and song flow?

TM - We gotsta do mad hutlez for beatzz! Sometimes we'll trade a beat we've made for a beat that we like that someone else has made. Sometimes we'll buy beats with money we've made selling our beats. Sometimes we'll make beats to use. Mike makes tons of beats, like a new one every other night. It's kind of ridiculous. He loves digging through old records and what not. I used to love the art of the chop (sampling), but I've gotten too much into listening to the music lately. And I always find it hard to sample a song that I want to keep listening to.

AS- The internet has played an integral role in the networking of Animal Nation which, in return, has allowed us to work with producers from all over the world. Hence the title, "TimeZone".

TM - As far as writing the song goes usually one of us will come up with the idea of the song, write a verse or a chorus for it, and give it to the other person. We'll pass it back and forth a few times, adding different parts, or changing the layout of a song, then record it. Recording the song completely changes the song. Halfway through recording you'll realize that you want to throw a couple instrumental bars in, or you'll want to take out the drum track for the second verse or something. Sometimes a song will take two hours to make, sometimes it will take two months.

What is your favorite song to perform?

TM - The corner of broadway. When we recorded it I recorded the entire song as a story, but when we do it live we go back and forth on nearly every line. It's cool to deconstruct and recreate your own music. Bop!

AS - I like to do the 'Aw Man Aw Well' remix produced by my man Matthias Relling in Germany. That one goes back and forth too and it relates to most people’s current financial situation. Cheery-O.

TM - I'm broke again! Aw man!

AS - Aw well.

What is a crowd favorite?

TM - I Never Cared (About the Troubles). That's the track right there! Scamp made the beat and it is amazing! We could have rapped about lasagna and it still would have been a good song. Although people seem to like that song we have about lasagna too, so who knows.

AS - Yeah that song pretty much appeals to everyone’s ear buds! Nuff said.

You guys have built your own recording studio at your place, how’s that?

AS - It’s awesome because we can do everything music related from our house but it sucks sometimes because we can’t always rock out as loud as we want due to the neighborly situation. Overall, it’s pretty convenient, though.

TM - People don't like harmonicas at 4 in the morning.

What was it like to be picked up by a record company? How is it?

TM - It was a thrill at first. Then we quickly started to realize that we could do everything that they can do, but we can do it without wasting time in meetings or wasting money on other people's efforts. I mean, I work 8 hours a day at my day job, then come home and spend another 8 hours doing music. I have no social life and I can't remember what kissing feels like, but at the end of the day we're the ones deciding how much we get out of it, and where we want to go with it. It rules.

AS - Yeah record labels pretty much suck.

You guys did a little trip over to Europe in the fall. How did people take to your shows?

AS - We got a great response from the Euro-Folk! People actually get into live performances and music in general over there. I just wish that all girls here looked like the ones in Denmark... DAMMMMN!

TM - I dunno man, the girls around here are pretty top notch. Too fine to give me any time, hah!

What’s the biggest/most publicity performance you guys have done?

AS - Thats a 3-way tie between the Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival, the pilot we filmed for MTV, and the morning news show we did for Global. The TWSSF was good because it was our first main stage act for a festival, the MTV pilot was awesome because all our fans/friends showed up to make the crowd rowdy, and the morning news was good because that was probably the biggest audience we've ever played for. Either way, they're all fun and games until somebody gets too hammered and needs to be carried home!

TM - Or loses two iPods on the same night.

Do you guys get to ride much?

TM - Dude! I got a pass super early this year because I was so stoked to get up on the hill, and I still haven't gone up once! Right before all the snow came I bought myself a fancy new guitar, so I've been spending most of my weekends locked up in the studio with my head in the clouds.

AS - I bunged up my shoulder early on this winter so I won’t be shredding again until spring. That’s ok, it’s not like this has been a good season or anything. NOT!

TM - Double NOT! Good luck untying that one.

Where can we hear your music?

TM - Check out our myspace page. That's easy. http://myspace.com/animalnation.

Where can we buy your music?

TM - Order it online at myspace for a hard copy, or iTunes for digital. You can get it in most indie record shops. If it's not on the shelves of your favorite record shop hold the place hostage with a butter knife and demand that they stock it!

Lugano… la bella cittadina sul lago. Lugano… dove splende sempre il sole. Lugano… piazza finanziaria ticinese.

Pazienza: primo tentativo a vuoto. Seconda tappa Flame.

My Journal: the gay guitarist
By: gezsweet

I wound up in a bar for St. Patricks night where there was an indie band who seemed to like borrowing songs from Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene. later spent about an hour after their set trying to elude the bass guitarist who kept trying it on! I still got it hahahaha.

Isensevens "Prediculous" is celebrating it´s world premiere in collaboration with Pleasure Snowboard Magazine at the Badeanstalt in Munich.
This day should be held free of appointments and other catastrophes. We´re hoping for late summer-like weather to start partying in the outdoor area of the club already at 9 PM. The movie starts at 11 PM and to make sure nobody misses anything we´ll be showing it on a XXL screen. Since you guys won´t be stopping by just for the video, DJ Myopic, DJ Radrum (Kopfhörer Records München) and Dominic Holzer (HelterSkelter Radio M94.5) will be spinning Hip Hop, Indie Rock and Electro Pop until the sun rises.
We´re hoping for a lot of motivated party goers.

My Blog: About Me.
By: Tutt

I'm Alexander. Hmm. I've really got nothing right now. I'm into indie music. Everything I used to do I don't do anymore (think racing and wakeboarding). Life changes fast I guess. I know this now. Just moved back in with my mother. It's okay I guess. Also pretty single as of late or something like that. I'm really not this boaring. Just drawing blanks is all. Well anyways, I really do like to talk to everyone, and I'm not just saying it. Really, just try. But yea. Oh, I used to ahve a great job, not anymore. Like I said, things change. I really do love cars and bikes. It's a passion. I build them and it's more of an art for me. I find I can express my creativity with them. Like a metal canvas. Designing custom cars and bikes is what I want to do with my life. I guess I've really slowed down in life. Not as far as success but as far as the tempo. I have learned that if I do slow down and take it all in that it is so much more enjoyable. When I get high is when I usually have my best experiances for some reason. So, I get high a lot. Sorry if that deters you from me. Really, sorry. That's not all of who I am just something I really enjoy doing. I love people; I think everyone has something special to offer. Good or bad. Right now I'm listening to Goodbye Sky Harbor by Jimmy Eat World over and over again and it amazes me every time. I am a really fun and relaxed person. People say I'm soft spoken these days. Just a sign of how much I have chilled out because I used to be some sort of animal. Been through some things in my life, great and horrible, all have made me who I am today. I love who I am, but anymore I can't find the kind of people I want to surround myself with. Well I have a few friends that I would die for. I'm not as close with my older brother as I would like to be and my little brother may be the coolest person in the world. Maybe. Right now I am rambling about some random shi*t, but oh well. At least you are getting to hear something about me. I like to dance. Lots of ways. Just to express. Usually how drunk I am. Oh well. Fun all the same. I guess I am easily satisfied. Want to know how? Ask. I guess I'll tell you. Why not. Life is crazy. Really. I never know what is going to happen when I wake up. I guess that's why sometimes I lie in bed forever and never get up. Well not for a while. I find it hard to motivate myself when I take a look at the world that I live in. That we all live in. Too many people that are way too selfish. That's what it comes down to. Snowboarding is one of those things that allows my extemely competative personality shine. I really haven't done it as much as I should have. Slacker. I'm decent though. It also brings me to this amazing peace that few things can bring me to. Hmm. I am discovering that many people don't know how to tell the truth. Mostly to themselves. And me. It really is a shame. They could be so much more. I am by no means saying I am better. I am most definately not. Just differant. I like it like that. People call me Alex but I wished they called me Alexander. That is my real name. Unique I suppose because everyone seems to be just Alex. I love my real name. My mom gave it to me. That means a lot. Alexander. It just sounds better. A closer representation to who I am. What else? Oh. I love having adventures with those that mean everything to me. Think driving around with $2 in your pocket and a sack of green. If you let your imagination out, it will bring you to far places. I promise. I refuse to let myself fall for females. Too many heartbreaks. I am not bitter. Just learned my lesson. Speaking of girls. I once met an ex girlfriend on here. Odd as that may seem. It was good though. I like to get in my car and drive. Anywhere. Nowhere. I live ina place that so many people hate but I love with everything there is to me. It is home. Beautiful sunsets in the summer. Don't belive me? Try it. I grew up in a big old house that I love. My mom wants to move out west and sell this house. I wish I could buy it and keep it forever. So many memories. Plus, it's badass if you asked me. I come from a very odd family. Odd in the sense of not the reular run-of-the-mill type. Curious? Ask. I'll tell. I am a good driver. In many aspects. Never been in an accident and I also have a few insights of a few differant types of racing. Well, a lot of that insight. Its not easy but it puts my mind in a place that few people can know. It's like a numb extacy. If that makes any sense. Kinda like the worst tunnel vision you may have ever had, you really cannot feel anything except the car and the road/track, and at the same time an overwhelming feeling of pure love is all I feel. There are a couple things in life like that. Open your mind and you may find them. No. You will find them. It takes time. I am always looking for something new to open my heart and mind. It's fun. What life is all about. I'm usually big on grammar for some reason, not reflected by the continuous fragmented sentances on here. And my bad spelling. An odd fact though. I'm not really the schoolish kind of person. I love learning. I just think the schools are seriously flawed. I have been told by so many that I am extremely smart. I think so. Problem is, few things motivate me to use it. And most of those things people tell me I can never do. f*ck them. Right? Let me do my thing. I probably should apply myself more, though. Maybe I will. Who knows. Not me. Nothing is sure. So true. Well I have rambled a lot here. If you have made it this far then I am almost sure you are somewhat interested in me. If thats the case, comment me. Send me a message. I like those kinds of things. I'll get back to you. Who knows, I may just be your next best friends, the person you marry, or the person you murder. Never know until you find out.

Blogging bubble: Generazione X
By: Freesty_Girl

Le All star?
Siamo stati etichettati come Generazione X e abbiamo dovuto sorbirci Sentieri e i Visitors, Twin Peaks e Beverly Hills ti piacquero allora, vai a rivederli adesso, vedrai che delusione).
avessimo vissuto nessun avvenimento storico.
Congratulazioni!

Whistler, BC - March 31, 2006 - What could be more exciting than finding out some of the most talented and popular performing bands in North America are set to play in Whistler from April 14-23? Probably the realization that watching your favourite acts live is completely FREE, as part of Canada's largest free outdoor concert series, during the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival. Daily concerts are scheduled from 2:30-5:30pm, including two nighttime concerts on Saturday April 15 and April 22 from 7:00-10:00pm, in Skier's Plaza at the base of Whistler Mountain. Over fifty live concerts are scheduled to rock Whistler during the annual Festival's legendary celebration fusing music, arts and sports.

Many are already saying this year's performing schedule is the strongest yet, and one of the most expansive on record, including acclaimed Juno nominees, Canada's red-hot rising stars and some of the most influential bands to come out of the United States in the past decade. Providing even more excitement, iTunes by Apple will power the 2006 Festival Mainstage, delivering a ten-day blowout of hip-hop, funk, rock and alternative music to a crowd of thousands in Whistler Village.

"W1 is proud to be working with Apple to bring Canada's largest free concert series to Whistler," said Doug Perry, President of W1. "Being one of the most progressive companies in the world today, essentially revolutionizing the music industry with iTunes and iPod, Apple is the perfect group to lay down the soundtrack for the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival."

From popular rock groups, platinum-selling Default and current chart-topper Mobile, to the pioneering hip-hop artists of Jurassic 5 and Blackalicious, the line-up is diverse, with all the featured artists hand-picked for their amazing live performances. Headline groups include another Platinum seller and teen rock sensation, Hedley, who's lead singer gained notoriety as a Canadian Idol finalist, and Metric, presently referred to as the coolest indie band out there. Both are also 2006 Juno nominees. A final, complete alphabetical listing for the 2006 Mainstage is as follows:

adam ezra group | Blackcalicous | Default | DJ Relm | Fatlip with Omni | Flowmotion | Hedley | Hermit | Jurassic 5 | KostaMan | Lifesavas | Mariana's Trench | Metric | Michael Franti & Spearhead | Mobile | MyG | Pacifica | Panurge | Pauder | Pigeon John | Rally Car | Slackstring | Souls of Mischief | Stabilo | Team Canada | The Left | The Wassabi Collective | Umphrey's McGee

                                                     24-26 maart 2006

Val Thorens

Wanna know what makes my heart race? Just say something like underground dance party, and then throw in Bubbles is coming! So I knew this like on Monday that it was a possibility. But I just shrug....

Erin's new boyfriend was, then wasn't and as of now is coming down for the weekend. And I really wanted to go riding with my friends Jessica & Tye who I call the lovas on Sunday at the Pass where Erin works. And tonight I really wanted to go to this simi underground dance party at Snafu even though no one really wants too....
(its too posh?)
So I go about my week. I went on a psuedo date lastnight with my old boss to dinner and a jazz lecture about the birth of cool & big bands. I took care of stuff, I cleaned, I drank on a Wednes  night only beer.... I changed my bed sheets and I go to work perfectly content that tonight I'm just going to have a drink with my friends and pop my head into Snafu to see whats shakin.

Erin's on msn and she's appears telling me she ruined it all. She had a moment and her boyfriend surprise was no more. Yet he is still coming. After that she refered me to myspace where a BULLETIN announces said Dance Party and at the bottom it says Nathan & BlueBird? are in town. And then it hits me. Shakes, shake everywhere. Do I really want to do any of this. Do I need to go out. Its cold. I wanted to wear my black dress, I have a bazillion magazines to look at this weekend. Do I need to go to Snafu. I love Dance parties. I hate, I love, I'm super crazy! I chewed out my best guy friend because he's always talking crap about the indie kids. I can't stop shaking. I'm nervouse, I'm excited, I'm not wanting to go because I just a jumble of super weird emotions that occur when I know too much.

Whatever chill pill you got send it to me. I've calmed myself a little. I' mean I still have hair in. I don't know. What in the world I'm gonna do. Whats the big picture I cant see it anymore

Oh Yikes! The weekend is here and I am so happy. I have an invite to the world premiere of "The Zero Sum" tonight. Boy, do I ever love indie films. Then off to Kamloops tomorrow night to hit some grinder bars and do some backwards backwards slides down them.Oh, and if you have a chance, I suggest downloading "Time Stands Still" by Cut Copy. Anyways, have a great weekend people and have fun. P's for now!

Ooooh that weekend was so great again. Berlin is simply amazing. One of the greatest cities worldwide I'd claim! The Death Cab for Cutie show was awesome. It was the best show I have ever seen. Brilliant, just brilliant, but the t-shirts that they sold were really lame.

You should check out the indie movie Pieces of April. Hella funny. I was laughing my ass off. Great actors!!!
