It was a dark and stormy night in Squaw Valley but that didn't stop the kiddies from coming out to Mamasake to see Think Thank's Stack Footy and Airblaster's August movies. Mamasake was packed to the hilt and everyone was excited because the temp dropped and the winter jackets and beanies came out of the closet.... perfect attire for snowboard movie premieres.

Think Thank's Stack Footy was a great vid with crazy urban shredding, big park jump lines and fresh powder turns. The pants were tight but so was the riding in this vid. After the showing of Stack Footy there was a little raffle and then Ariblaster/ Thirty Two rep Eric Wallis hit play and "August" was off and running. Now for those that don't know "August" was filmed entirely at Mt.Hood during the first two weeks of August this year. I have to say this is a fresh new concept to the snowboard film industry because usually a movie is filmed through out an entire season, not just in two weeks. So for starters I liked that about the movie. Second it was full of fun jibbing and fun everything. A big thanks to all that came out and braved the monsoon at Squaw and a big thanks to Mamasake

So I moved back to Menomonie for a little while, till like February.
I'm on my way to quit smoking, it's going pretty well. I've started working out. forest(my best friend/roommate) and I go to the gym.
shi*t, I've even cut waaaaaay down on the drinking.... it was getting pretty bad. now, I really only drink when I play beer pong(which is like every friday night or sometimes on saturdays)... I'm still undefeated, so that's good.
I still like my herbs, but even that has been cut way down.

since the ex and I split... shi*t kinda hit the fan for a while and I was mess, but I've got my life back on track. got a new girl... I think she's the tops.

I've got two bands going right now.
the one is like a surf rock/ mellow type acoustic project, and then I've got a metal band called Goat Scroat Gauntlet.

I've started writing stories and comics again as well.

yeah, I'm sure you can tell that I'm trying to stay busy.... if I don't.... I collapse and get into a bunch of shi*t that only brings me down. I am Mr. Selfdestruct, and I'm trying to change that. :) I'm doing pretty good with it too.

oh yeah.. my dad comes out to WI from CA next week, and my girlfriend comes up from Madison at the same time... so I'm super excited for that. Dad and I are going snowboarding at Welch, and I'm going to bring Casie(it's her first time), and my roommate/best friend(forest).

god damn, I can't wait.

TONIGHT, I'm going snowboarding around UW-Stout... there's some pretty rad hand rails, and some gaps and drops and shi*t. I've got an idea for some footy... but it requires a P.O.S. car that I can smash up and land on, and some lights, and somebody with a video camera....

f*ck, I need to find a filmer/photographer... my crew's filmer is lazy, and never wants t go out anymore. damn him

p.s. Bullet for my Vallentine = great music in the morning to get me going. woo!

I realize there's been a huge lack of updates on here, so I'm just gonna fill u guys in on whats up. Currently we're in debate on whether or not to scrap the video and start from scratch on the count of this one taking so much longer than expected that much of the footage is getting real old. Maybe we're just bored of it cause we've seen it so many times, who knows? Also I've just recently purchased a Panasonic HVX200, so I'm gonna be filming in HD from now on and the older footage's quality wont really match too well with the new vibe I'm going for if I remake the vid. I'll still be posting clips of the older footage on here, so keep checkin back for that. Hopefully we get some more snow soon so I'll be able to get some footy with my new cam.

Peace.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I'm gonna re-open the site once I get some new shi*t to put on it. I'll keep you posted for when that's gonna be up.

Your first Alterna snowboard movie came out in 2000, The Struggle.  Is it still a struggle today?

It’s always a struggle but we always find ways to overcome our challenges.
Creating snowboard films is definitely not the easiest of tasks, you have so many variables that need to come together for a film to be successful. Good light, snow conditions, crews that mesh well and solid sponsorship are only some of the various elements that need to work well in order to create a solid film.

What is a typical year like for you?

We pretty much film and travel from when the snow hits until around May of the following year. I guess that also depends on the type of snow year we are faced with, when we filmed Shrediquette a few years back we had the challenge of having hardly any snow, we were forced to go to Argentina in July to make up for lack of footage.

This year we traveled to Norway in July to get some "on the road" footy because we pretty much spent the whole season in Whistler.  Look out for the save of the century which took place on this trip care of JF FORTIN in the beginning of his segment.

As far as going to Vegas for the asr trade show we have been more successful gaining sponsorship outside of the show it seems its more of a good time than a time to do business.

Summers are now spent at our new office on the North Shore of Vancouver editing and going out fishing and boating as much as possible which is not that much.

One of my favourite video parts is Travis Williams in Breaking Ground.  Do you have any favourite parts or sections that really stick out for you in your past 8 projects?

I guess the parts that stick out the most right off the top of my head are Mike Page's Struggle segment, the Poland section in IN TRANSIT, Trav's Breaking Ground segment, JF's Reflection segment, Beardmore's Fast Food segment this year the new faces like Takaharu Nakai and Matt Belzile stood out.

Do you think the internet is killing the video star?

I know that more people are watching our films because of the internet and less people are buying them. When I was in Finland last year all the up and coming finnish groms all had burned copies of almost every snowboard film. Europe is always a step ahead with this technology and North America will follow.  We are hoping that added value to our packaging like the insertion of an Apples & Oranges bandana this year will encourage people to buy the DVD.

What do you see for the future of snowboard films?

In my opinion, online distribution is definitely the future of snowboard flicks. People want to see movies right away and if you have your computer connected to your TV like most will in the future buying and viewing your favourite film will be one click away.

The latest project coming out of Alterna is Apples & Oranges.  What can we expect?

We shot the film in true HD so that is also a new element. Expect a 20 plus video layered intro that will have you re-watching it for sure. This year in some of the segments especially in Matt Belzile's part we miked Matt for his entire part.  Apples & Oranges also has the most cable cams and dolly shots that we have ever employed in any of our productions.

How large is the crew that put it all together this year?

During the winter there are seven production people together and we also contract out additional help during the winter for certain sessions. Myself and Bryant Bell are full time in the office on the North Shore.

I noticed that you popped the question if people would prefer Blue-ray vs. HD-DVD.  What are you thinking of going with?

It looks like Blue Ray for North America and HD DVD for Europe. 720p Downloads were also a big request. We will be releasing an HD downloadable version of Apples & Oranges closer to Christmas.

What would you like people to take away from watching Apples & Oranges?

Hopefully after watching Apples & Oranges you get stoked to go out and shred for yourself.

Where and when can people come out to the premieres?

All premieres will be listed on our website www.alternaactionfilms.com

Any shout outs?

Big Shout out to all the riders, production crew and sponsors involved in supporting the creation of past Alterna films and our latest release Apples & Oranges.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1920's, 30's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks some of us took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds, KFC, Subway or Red Rooster.

Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on the weekends, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Fruit Tingles and some fire crackers to blow up frogs and lizards with.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and cubby houses and played in creek beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, Xboxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape or DVD movies, no surround sound, no mobile  phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no Lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross buns at Easter time.......no really!

We were given BB guns and sling shots for our 10th birthdays,

We drank milk laced with Strontium 90 from cows that had eaten grass covered in nuclear fallout from the atomic testing at Maralinga in 1956.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

Footy had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

Our teachers used to belt us with big sticks and leather straps and bully's always ruled the playground at school.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

Our parents got married before they had children and didn't invent stupid names for their kids like "Kiora" and "Blade".....

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 70 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

PS -The big type is because your eyes are shot at your age

pretty cool we kinda deleted all the good footy we got in the morning but we got decent stuff in the afternoon considering how bad the slush was . Enjoy

To make a very long story kinda short, the reason some of you haven't heard from me in a while is because i spent last week in the intensive care unit trying not to bleed to death. I got f*cked really bad, like worse than anything I have ever experienced, crazier pain than I even knew existed. The temp dropped overnight to freeze the slush into the iciest, hardest shi*t I’ve ever ridden on. I caught my edge on a rail and flew way out into the flats, swan-dive style and knew I was f*cking dead... The force of me hitting the ice going that fast bent my ribcage in and split my liver from top to bottom along the right side. Looked like an old beat-ass vagina that owed money...Severe internal bleeding, gnarly ambulance ride, pissing and missing the bedpan...the past week has been a crazy ride on a big slice of shi*t.

The verdict was six months on the bench. They said the pain would be too much for me to get out of bed for a month but I’m up and about one week later. They moved it back to three months after some serious consideration, but I’m still going to miss what I’ve been looking forward to for more than a year; I finally got invited to girl’s Superpark, among other coveted invites I’ve received lately. I’m disappointed beyond belief that I won’t be able to compete in Mammoth this year. Cali filming trips and Superpark footy are no longer an option. I worked so hard on getting handrail shots this season and am now bummed out that it’s all I’m going to come out with.

shi*t happens, I know...and I'm glad I'm not dead.  So whoohooo stop by my pad and smoke one with me; I'm in need of some company while I sit in bed and romance the bong.  That's all for this season peace out f*ckers!!

As the name states im doing both...obviously im not completly drunk as i can still type normally...but...he fact is im still on my 9th beer.. which is really beside the point...you wnna know what im thinking right now...i wonder what it's like to live in the states...it would be cool i think but then again it may not be....who knows really but what i do know is that Australia is cool....

Today i met the most gorgeous chick ever...but 1. i was at work...so it doesnt leave much room to work in though i did get paid to flirt my ass of with her and 2. i have sworn off chick for the next 6 months...yes if you dont believe me which i would fully understand cos im a f*cking slutface...ask krissy no more girls for tim...yes girls are stupid...and they are manipulative and in my experience psychos...not to say any of the chicks on here are like that i mean...fair dinkum...krissy, lisa, whit, lexy, kara, sel, sarah and others you know who you are...you guys are awesome...and this is not aimed at any one of you, but seriously why do i attract chicks who are psychopaths? they all lie to me tell me they are one way but really arent...f*ck i think im like a magnet to obssesive, controlling, manipulative chicks, how the f*ck do you turn a magnet off, cos i would really like for once in my lfe to go out with a chick, who was cool, and just like to hang out with me, and do thing we both liked to do, rather then tell me that drinking is bad for me and cry everytime i touched alcohol...i mean f*ck, it's not like i hide the fact i drink if you dont like it, why the f*ck would you go out with me? and no this is not aimed soley at tess, although wanna talk about hypocrit..."tim dont drink it makes me feel uncomfortable...i got drunk last night" yeah good, i wish i could be that much of a hypocrit, it would be like me saying, hey you dont ever make a sarcastic comment....or maybe not to that extent but still pretty bad...ok...so off the subject of relationships cos i really didnt mean to drag it down to that...

You know the point of me telling you i met the most gorgeous chick ever, was not to brag...well it kinda was but not about her...she was really nice...i wish i wasnt at work so i could get to know her (as friends of course since im a gay man minus guys for the next 6 months) but the fact that their table left a 100 dollar tip and told the owner of my resteraunt in many many words how good i was...i didnt think i was that amazing...but maybe cos that chick was sooo hott i was paying them extra attention...who knows...but seriously, it obviously doesnt tak emuch to impress people.. i mean i rememberwhen i used to play touch footy on my dads team, and after every game most of the team would tell me how good i played even if i played like shi*t...and it would annoy me...but i realised that i should learn to take compliment, like about my new hair cut which look like absolute grabage to me, but everyone at work thinks it looks better...who knows maybe it's somewhere in between, OH BY THE WAY....I DONT THINK I TOLD MANY PEOPLE, MY TOUCH TEAM CAME THIRD IN AUSTRALIA I HAVE A BRONZE MEDAL....I FEEL SPECIAL..I DOTN CARE WHat ANYONE SAYS........

Also...a true story...1. Sam rocks, he designed somethings for me, which i dont know what they all look like yet but, one of them looks great.......f*ck yeah for sammy
2. kyle is a f*cking legend, just because i said so also he is funny, also he is a mod, also he is a good bloke
3. Rod, Rodney is champ although im seriously doubting he even reads these, but he is cool, and his pics are amazing check them out...
4. Becka For president!
5.I heart Krissy more! there for i win eteranally..hahahahhahahahahahaha.....
