VAIL MOUNTAIN SET TO GROW TO 550 ACRES AND 14 LIFTS ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1st

VAIL, Colo.—Nov. 29, 2007— Winter has returned to the Colorado High Country and thanks to a series of recent snowstorms and cold snowmaking temperatures, Vail Mountain is set to open additional terrain this weekend. On Saturday, Dec. 1 the resort plans to offer more than 550 acres of terrain accessed by 14 lifts.

 

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 the following lifts and portions of terrain in these areas will open for the 2007-2008 ski season.

• Avanti Express Lift (Chair 2)
• Wildwood Express Lift (Chair 3)
• Mountaintop Express Lift (Chair 4)
• Game Creek Express Lift (Chair 7)
• Born Free Express Lift (Chair 8)
• Minnie’s Lift (Chair 9)
• Gopher Hill Lift (Chair 12)
• Little Eagle Lift (Chair 15)
• Vista Bahn Express Lift (Chair 16)
• Eagle Bahn  Gondola (Lift 19)
• Pride Express Lift (Chair 26)
• 3 Beginner Surface Lifts (at Eagle’s Nest, LionsHead and Golden Peak)

Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy lunch on the mountain at Eagle’s Nest Marketplace, The Pavilion at Wildwood, Buffalo’s at the top of Chair 4, and the Look Ma and Terrace levels at Mid Vail. The Vail Snowsports School will expand its locations for adult private and group instruction to the Vail Village and Mid Vail locations in addition to Vail Square/ Lionshead. Vail Snowsports children’s group and private lessons will be offered at Golden Peak and will continue at the Vail Square/ Lionshead location. The Small World Nursery at Golden Peak provides childcare for ages 2 months to 6 years. Lift tickets will be $72 for adults, $62 for seniors and $52 for children as of Saturday, Dec. 1.

 

Vail Snow Daze takes place Dec. 3-9, 2007 featuring live concerts with Ziggy Marley at Dobson Ice Arena on Dec. 6, followed by Social Distortion on Dec. 7.  Ludacris and The Roots take center stage Dec. 8 for an outdoor concert at Ford Park.  Also don't miss the Dummy Gelunde Championships on Dec. 8, snowball eating contests, a fashion show, and 1,000 Snowflakes of Vail throughout the week.  Check out the schedule at vailsnowdaze.com. Oggi al Gladiators Snowpark di monte Livata si teneva lo Snowboard D-day, ovvero, Barbecue, Musica, Birra e rail contest... cosa si può chiedere di più!

Tuttavia ben presto la giornata si è trasformata nell'ennesima giornata di merda a cui ormai sono abituato da mesi a questa parte....

 
Sono partito da casa, cosa straordinaria anche in anticipo. Ho messo 20 euro di benzina ed erano mesi che non ne mettevo tanti, il serbatoio non ci credeva nemmeno. Non ho trovato traffico sulla Cassia.

Avevo lo snowboard accanto, una cassa di birra nel sedile di dietro e una bella compilation di musica punk che faceva tremare gli specchietti della macchina. Quasi perfetto, non mancava quasi niente! (ho detto quasi!).

Arrivo al raccordo anulare e sento una canzone del cd che usciva dalle casse tutta distorta ed incomprensibile ..... provo a cambiare canzone, stessa cosa .... cambio di nuovo canzone e mi si spegne lo stereo per non riaccendersi più.

Faccio un altro chilometro e mentre sfrecciavo bello e beato la macchina comincia a singhiozzare, a rallentare, faccio giusto in tempo a parcheggiarmi nella corsia di emergenza che si spegne definitivamente. Provo a riaccenderla ma non mi si riaccende più.

Casualmente proprio in quell'istante si ferma uno col carro attrezzi che mi dice che di sicuro è l'alternatore che è andato e non ricarica la batteria.

Mi "offre" un passaggio fino all'officina più vicina per "soli" 100 euro e lo mando via pensando alla mattinata sprecata (e alla pioggerella che nel frattempo scende lenta).

Finalmente verso mezzogiorno, dopo più di due ore passate ad osservare le macchine che mi facevano il pelo sfrecciando veloci sul raccordo, mi portano una batteria carica con la quale torno fino a casa. La giornata ormai è andata, penso tristemente al gladiators snowpark, lontano chilometri.

Scusate se non sono venuto, la birra la porto la prossima volta.....

Perplexed by this misty walk of life. Around every corner an enigma of thoughts, concepts, and ideals. neuro-nets interacting without theoretical consciousness or interaction with time itself. Complacent and amicable thoughts whirling around and manifesting behavior that in ones own self is thought to be lucrative and unfathomably restrained but yet perceived as common by today’s catechized society. Rhythmic distorted waves conceived by the brain but disregarded by the heart. Ones own self has to ask deeply why we as humans can convey an image that neglects all of what we are receiving from the outside world that is unrelated and detached indirectly through a supersonic rip in the vast breach of what we call space. The visually therapeutic oscillating, fluctuating spectrums of violent blues, reds yellows and greens mixed seemingly content but unmistakably different from one another. Designating a path that is both holistic and contrary to the very statement itself. Created by what is unknown and destroyed by what is essentially our own. It is the ultimate question from which its perplexity and stupefaction with be eminent in our minds for all of eternal life.

OMG!!! This trip to Cali has pretty much blown except for one thing, I got to see AFI and Social Distortion in concert down here!!! It was so f*ckin incredible!!! I can't believe I got to go. It made my entire trip worthwhile. Anyway, now I'm ready to go back to Washington since I got to do that. It was by far the coolest thing I've done in a long time.

WEEKS AWAY FROM SHREDDING!!!


Ive been watching a ton of snowboarding movies, so ive been in a constant state of depressive drooling. Until i hit some powder, my bedsheets will continue to be covered with slobber, resulting from intense dreams of back-country drop-ins, and 5 feet of powder. As for now the only thing i can do to pass the time is count the days until the mountain opens. For all of those out there like me... Be patient young grasshopper!

*yawn* good mornin', joe, (fellow band member of my band "Fourth Extention") should be here any minute. I just thought i'd get up and check out snowboard.com before hand. We got a bunch of money together so after we rock for a couple hours we're gonna take a break and go down town to the local music store and get some distortion pedals for his electric. and I think i'm gonna get a 30" cymble, and a tom or two. (i wanna get a huge ass drum set like Godsmacks...) but anywways, I'm gonna go start warming up so i'll catch you people later!
