Gettin' Bucked

Prt: 2

Next is the classic "method overf*ck" - a bit more advance but a treat nonetheless, should you decide to indulge. Come in hot, set up like you know what you're doing and jump the gun - I mean really get ahead of yourself. Thrusting your center WAY off balance over the nose of your board is the secret to this one, thus rendering your chances of recovery anywhere from desperate to hopeless. A coyote yelp followed by the swallowing of your own tongue will be the first indication you're on the right track.

Moving on, a personal favorite of mine is the "FTS" or frontside-toe-snag, which can be done riding regular, yet is best executed switch for something I call "bonus pain". Wind up like your going to throw a frontside 9 (in actuality you will max-out at about 400 degrees) and snap that edge into the jump a good half second prematurely - really hook it in there. What this does is completely blow your scene - a necessity for proper execution. After the initial sea-monkey-on-crack episode in the air, look for a complimentary shoulder dislocation upon impact. The opposite "heel edge bite" is strictly reserved for idiots and is rarely seen in the wild. Consider yourself lucky should you be fortunate enough to witness this most rare of bucks.

For those who know me, you guys know I battle shoulder dislocations... constantly. Well, about 2 months ago, I dislocated it swimming. Not flipping, jumping or wrestling in the pool. Just swimming. Then, a week ago, I was reaching for a ball while standing in the pool and the sucker dislocated... just reaching!! So, I've had enough. I've already been in shoulder surgery once to repair a torn labrum (piece of cartiledge that makes the socket deeper). I went in yesterday to have the doc give it a once over. After some X-rays and some pulling, pushing and proding, the doc thinks I tore the labrum again. Ugh!! And, since the ball of the humerus (bicep bone) is softer than the socket, my bone is slightly dented from the constant dislocations.

So, what does this all mean? Well, I go in for an MRI on Friday and the results next Tuesday. Considering my history with this shoulder, a torn labrum is very likely. If that's what it is, it will require surgery to fix.

Here's the conundrum. Do I wait another season and have it fixed next summer. Or do I do it now and have a chance to heal for this season. BUT, I'm building a new deck, so it will hamper those plans... DECISIONS!!

OOk well it all started off with a storm, last night there was a massive thunder storm (with rain not snow). and then 2day it was -3 so all the rain that fell overnight froze, includeing on my local ski hill (glen eden) so i was just bopping along go to the first jump try to bust out a 360 aa but no dice the wind blows and my board and now the front tip of my board is straihgt up in the air but wait theres hope yet... i manage to land sorta i land right on the back tip of my board kinda brakes my fall but then i start sliding down the incline>>>>and FAST (because it was ice mixed with granular snow) so me being the genius i am try to slow myself down and put my arm out to create friction all that does is pop my shoulder out!! ouch that hurt and it all happened in like 5 seconds so i pop her back in and ride back to the chalet with my buddies grab me a rockstar energy drink and take bout half hour to finish it cause the can was a tank!! so about 5 hours l8er i hit the box pull out a massive bs boardslide. but then the wind comes in play again it starts blow me off the box and i was like " the hell with that im sticking this slide" so the i lean a wee bit to the right ( into the wind) and wat do u know my edge digs in the box and i flip and land on a mound of ice and dislocate my leg!! the end!!

Went to the hospital to get the shoulder checked today.. He said that I've made a good recovery, and am allowed to ride again!!! :-D awesome news!! However, I have to see the specialist in case I require surgery to prevent further dislocations. Bummer, but at least I will know if it's done any serious damage. Can't wait til Saturday!
