Indeed.
-pops a piece of bubblegum in his mouth-
Today is so intrepid. But why describe it. Why waste the potassium.
Is it really only Tuesday? It seems like Monday was ages ago. Funny how that is when you try your best to fill up each moment with something. When a good friend sends trickles of divinity your way. All that jazz
-pops a bubble in your general direction-
The war has already begun. I do not stand alone in this blasted landscape. We are all intrepid together. Ones strength gives into another, a weakness becomes as nothing in the stalwart stance of several. Yet this is no sureity. Battles are lost, battles are won, only the best leaders determine the outcome.

Effective April 1 - 30, 2003 the Forest Service will be implementing and enforcing a Supervisor's Closure on Vail Mountain, which will prohibit unauthorized access to the Minnie's Deck area where the end-of-season BB&B event has occurred. The Forest Service issued a directive to Vail Resorts under the terms of their special use permit to shut down the BB&B event on Vail Mountain. Historically the BB&B event has taken place at Minnie's Deck and the event had evolved into a gathering of as many as 2,000 people. The behavior of participants posed serious risks to public health and safety as well as caused resource damage. The Supervisor's Closure will be in effect to ensure protection of public health and safety.

So, with a stroke of the pen, the US Forest Service ended the infamous end-of-season party on Vail Mountain, ending a 22 year tradition.  Know by many variations, Boobs, Boomers and Beers; Buns, Boobs, and Beers; Boobs, Booze and Brews, etc, (BB&B) was held on the second Tuesday in April as a way for Vail valley residents and employees to blow off some steam at the end of the season.  The event started in 1980 as a small end-of-season birthday party on Minnie's deck. BB&B devolved into an orgy of drinking, snowball fights and raucous behavior. During the last several years, partiers spent days before BB&B building large snow forts, stashing large quantities of alcoholic beverages, and, too often, hauling up more illicit substances.

Historically, the end of season party probably started much earlier with the Great Race.  This season-ender was usually held in Lionshead and People would dress up in all kinds of wild costumes. A photo of Vail local hooligan Packy Walker standing on the winner’s podium wearing nothing but a fig leaf and his gold medal made the front page of the Vail Trail newspaper. After Vail executives and lawyers killed that event people continued to get costumed up and party at Minnie's Deck.  In those days it was called the mountain formal.  Costumes included top hats and suits as well as high school prom dresses, horrible powder-blue tuxedoes and ballerina tutus.  The event grew and was combined with Warren Miller’s Mad Mountain Marathon and the Rubber Legs Slalom.  The race involved 150 or more slalom gates at the bottom of Vail Mountain and the event raised money for local charities.

When I was there in the spring of 2002, my brother Travis, his wife Michelle, Mayela and I went to the BB&B.  We all carried backpacks loaded with beers, booze and buds.  When we arrived at Minnie's deck the atmosphere was relaxed and people were lounging on the deck in the sun enjoying the event.  We set up camp on the deck and in one of the nearby snow forts crafted by a group of Beaver Creek's happyshack community.  We took some runs and explored the other various snow forts in the woods.  It was amazing the elaborate complex of forts and the adornments within.  Some had full Ice sculpture bars complete with barstools carved from compacted snow.  Others were complete igloos with only a small portal in the roof for ventilation.  Another was an elaborate maze to thwart cops and security spies.

As the day continued, there were jam sessions on the numerous rails that had been created in the woods.  One was a 50 foot long triple wave that dumped out into the main area opening.  Eventually the traditional snowball fight erupted with the main focus from the snow forts surrounding the opening at Minnie's deck.  Some forts were equipped with water balloon launchers.  A couple of times I snuck out through the woods with my snowboard to take runs down born free.  After riding the gondola back up to the top, I'd come rolling into the woods with my pants down and flipping the crowd off in my black afro.  The trick was to ride fast and get to the fort as quickly as possible.  Poor unfortunate souls that tried to follow in the wake turbulence of my entry would get blasted into oblivion.  I would stand on the wall and yell out obscenities to the enemy forts.  The response was a furious barage of snowballs.  People were getting pissed because we were getting bombed with snow.  One time, standing on the wall, I took a water balloon launcher shot to the chest that blasted me flat on my back.  Heffe came right up like a  medic with the Jaegermeister bottle to nurse me back to insanity.

In the evening when security starts to herd everybody out of there is a Chinese downhill of sorts.  This race to the pub progresses down the mountain. There is one particularly steep pitch where people who are so f*cked up that they just take their skis off and hurl themselves bodily down the face, laughing their drunken asses off.  I came up to the edge and launched the hand bag I was carrying as high in the air as I could--only to find out Mayela had her camera in it.  We all ended up at the bars in Vail village till the weee hours of the morning.  It was amazing.  I'm glad I got to experience the greatest party on earth before it was over.  Good times

As kind of a sick footnote to all of this, the event has been commercialized in a couple of different forms. Never shy about making a buck off the sweat and toil of the locals Vail Resorts promptly christened Siebert's Mad Mountain Marathon and Beaver creek Blues, Brews, and Bar-B-Que. There is no limit to the depth of slime with Vail Management.

"Enjoy The Ride...More" is DC’s marketing slogan for their highly anticipated release of snowboards this winter. Last night at 50-50 Brewery in Truckee, CA, PortersTahoe.com and the DC crew – including riders Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Aaron Biittner, and Lauri Heiskari – all came out with more than just their A-game to kick off this 20th anniversary edition of Mack Dawg’s "Double Decade."

Somewhere between 400 to 500 people joined Porters and DC at the biggest movie premier ever at 50-50 Brewery. There were two screens – inside and outside – showing the next progression in riding with several very well-received segments from not only the DC crew, but riders like Wille Yli-Luoma, Eero Ettala, and the closing part of Jussi Oksanen. The movie also sprinkled in 20 years worth of snowboarding pioneers and ground breaking MDP parts over the years from names like Chris Roach, Nate Cole, Noah Salasnek, JP Walker, and Jeremy Jones (past and present). "Double Decade" truly does give you more by throwing in a great, eclectic mix of music from the likes of the Pet Shop Boys, Devo, David Bowie, Doobie Brothers, and – believe it or not – the Grass Root’s "Let’s Live For Today" for a very soulful and artistic Jussi part.

But that wasn’t all for the day.

Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson from Snow Park Technologies arranged for some of the Porters crew and the DC boys – Devun Walsh, Iikka Backstrom, Aaron Biitner, and first-time golfer Lauri Heiskari – to play a round of golf at Northstar-at-Tahoe earlier in the afternoon. Conditions were ideal. Scores were very competitive in a "best ball", two-man format of 5 teams. In the end, a little home-field advantage – and let’s face it – just plain better skills from Gunny and Walsh propelled them to the win.

Longtime Nor Cal industry veteran and DC sales rep Ron Depp put the evening in perspective this way, "It’s amazing that we could draw such a large crowd with only 5 days advance notice and have so many ex-pros and industry people come out of the woodwork...or the Truckee woods!" Bill Markham, DC Snow Sales Manager, added, "Double Decade is a walk down memory lane that showcases many legends of the 90’s rail brigade. The film also captures how shredding has progressed from backyard rails to big mountain kickers. Couple this with almost 500 kids, beer from 50-50, great support from Porters and DC pro shreds Iikka, Devun, Biittner and Lauri and you got a night you won’t forget....or remember in some cases!"

Judging by how big of a smile Lauri Heiskari had at the end of the night, everyone truly had a great time...and MORE!

It always starts out with a quick chat. Find out what we have in common. Then it turns into "I love you". You don't even know me. But I, stupidly, go along with it. And without thought, "I love you too." What the f*ck is the matter with me. I don't even know if love exists. Is tolerance the same as love or is it because we love that we tolerate? Hell if I know. But we keep chatting; on and off. And I think I'm falling for you. Emotions once lost, are now found. But you quit replying. And I'm all alone. Again. Devoid of human contact. I thought you loved me. You could at least tell me if you came to your senses.

2,000 Gather for Nude Shoot in Amsterdam
Jun 3, 5:38 AM EST

This article link was posted as a news section on msn.com today.  It deplores the obvious, a large group of nude people gathered naked for a photo shoot, one which was organized by photographer Spencer Tunick.  That's all you really need to know before I begin this rant but should you wish to read the whole article (and the comments which I'm about to trash) here's the link:  http://entertainment.msn.com/news/article.aspx?news=264181&GT1=10056

After this article came an onslaught of comments, some commemorous and others just down right of obnoxious.

"It's disgusting! Most of these artsy, liberated-minded, males are homosexuals I suspect. I don't want to see a bunch of them and their warped minds."

Close minded much?

"And one more evidence that religion is strong here. Where the first machine press Bible was made (Mainz, Germany), just outside Frankfurt there is a big STATE SPONSORED museum in the Dom in Mainz."

What the hell does Germany have to do with the Netherlands?

"Why would people agree to pose nude in a public setting en masse? Do they get paid, or are they just exhibitionists? Who finances Tunick and are we suppose to see his photographs as art? Believe me, as a physician, I can tell you that most people look a lot better in their clothes. If Tunick's work is art, then I guess Playboy's center fold is art too. I don't get it."

Neither do I Chuck, neither do I.

Now I know I make myself just as much as a critic as these people by even thinking about what they've said, and this isn't even a hint of what some of the other comments were, and to be frank many of them were very supportive of Tunik's efforts.  What gets me going are the people who a) use religion to counterslash modern art and b) are so uncomfortable with the concept of nudity that they immediately have to flout their inferiority by insulting those who aren't.

The Bible's a beautiful piece of literature, no doubt about it, and for those who practice a devout, organized religion good for you, but in all honesty...this isn't at all your room to comment!  The Bible (and more so Christianity) preaches tolerance sans persecution.  These people aren't persecuting your faith so leave them alone!  Just because Guttenburg printed the first Bible in a city near 250 miles away doesn't mean that the entire region is dogged in a heavy religious collar.  For God's sake (yes, God's!) the entire movement of the Renaissance, humanism, secularism, was to take art away from what at one time had been a truly manipulative hand of the church.  Most the portraits after the crucifixion have Christ near nude anyways.  Why?  Not for some sick sinful nature, no, but because hmmm...perhaps he was at the time?  Adam and Eve were naked,  Christ ended up naked, that's nudity from the beginning to the end, get over it!

Secularism returned to the natural human body.  It was radical then but you'd think after four hundred and fifty years we'd get over the concept.  Yes, they're naked, and you know what?  Under your clothes so are you.  There's so much art to be gained abstracly and you can't deny that the human body is a beautiful thing.  Tunick took a different approach to expressing natural beauty, just as many have done before him.  He wasn't creating pornography, which, to be dubbed such has to be created for purposes of sexual stimulation.  This wasn't a Playboy center spread, it was a modernist expression.  I'm fairly certain Tunick didn't create this art (and the others like it) for some horny person to mastrubate with.  Just because he, and the people who willingly, sans pay and profit, decided to participate in his vision (and there are thousands more than these two hundred, all over the world at that) had no intention of stimulating anything other than the mind.  They weren't sick and twisted, the were open and intuitive.  You were born naked, you're going to be kept in a freezer naked, and for a large majority of us, you're going to wake up naked, so really, what's the true problem here?

I've been thinkin' about our love situation
All this attraction in the present tense
I've reached the only logical conclusion
THat love ain't supposed to make sense

This aint no thinkin' thing,
Right brain, left brain, it goes a little deeper than that
It's a chemical, physical, emotional devotion - passion that we can't hold back

Theres nothin' that we need to analyze,
there aint no rhyme or reason why
cause this aint, this aint, no thinkin thing

Forget mathamatical equations, self - help, psychology
gray matter don't matter much darlin' when it's gettin down to you and me

This aint no thinkin thing
right brain, left brain, it goes a little deeper than tht
It's a chemical, physical, emotional devotion - passion that we can't hold back

There's nothing that we need to analyze,
there aint no rhyme or reason why
Cause this aint, this aint, no thinking thing.

A Doomed Lover: a doomed lover
By: patricksk8

Your unbreathing sleep.
Our dreamless bed,
Is mine to keep.
In my dark eyes and frozen arms,
Nothing lives 'cept my harm.
Now you're worn with years.
Years and sorrows.
Like saint with arrows.
Once again it die with a humble sigh.

Calm these tide of sorrow.
He leads me away and I follow.
Sighs and then slumbers,
Wakes and sighs again.
Opens up the eyes,
Sees the ghost again.
Our dying love, it prays in vain to live,
And pleads for help, I simply cannot give.

My devoted love takes tiny backward
Steps away.
Loneliness aplenty spread before me.

So Gromfest is working with Oakley at Bear Mountain this Saturday for the Oakley Uprising, a jam style event with transitions and artificial features.

This year marks the 2nd Annual Oakley Groms Weekend at Bear...a weekend devoted to the younger shredders that make the sport.

On Saturday, Gromfest will be inducting 2 more youth 18 & under into the qualifiers pool so if you've got talent, put on your sunblock, your sunglasses and your steez and head into the hills for a competition that only Bear and Oakley could put on.

Then, come Sunday, Sports Illustrated For Kids takes over with their Next Snow Search.  Gromfest will still be there but if you want to qualify you've got to come Saturday.

So that's it...come up to Bear either Saturday or Sunday and stop by the Gromfest tent to say hi and grab some stickers.  Also, when you stop by, if you happen to mention that you saw this announcement on Snowboard.com we'll enter you in a drawing to win a pair of Burton gloves.  You gotta be a part of Snowboard.com for that deal however so don't forget to mention it.

See you under the sun and on the slopes!

Heck yes.  Finally traveling, finally.  New Hampshire on the 26th to January 5th.  Leaving again on the 9th to New Jersey and coming back the 19th.  Granted, yes it is for work, but still.  On my own, hopefully having some fun and seeing some sights.  I've been waiting for this.  A chance to get out of this hole I call life.

It hardly seems like a life really.  Too often it's just not right, life's not right.  Things happen that make you scratch your head and think wtf?  Now how and when in the hell did I let that happen?  Did I even know it was happening?  No!  That shouldn't be happening!

Yeah, life's like that.  It sucks. Truly.  But there are a few things that make it a little nicer along the way.  A horse thats beautiful, intelligent, and athletic.  Nothing makes you smile like watching the hard work of your own hands bear fruit.  You trained that horse.  A dog that loves you know matter what, that does weird antics you'd swear just to cheer you up.  Amazingly enough, that even licks the tears off my face.  Heck of a dog.  And a guy, that's just... I don't know... just amazing.  Unfailing love, devotion, and respect.  You know it's the real deal when you can see what he's thinking when you look in his eyes. When you'd give up everything else in the world just to be with him, everything.  I have given up everything for him.  Friends, the respect of others, times that I should be laughing and having fun, I'm instead crying and being miserable, and wanting to die.  It's not a fair trade, I know.  Believe me,  I know.  But this guy, he's... no other word than amazing.

Sometimes I wish I'd just die.  Just take some pills and die.  Don't think it would hurt too much, my body shutting down.  But God, what he would feel like when he found me.  There's a lot of things I just can't do because of him.  He has pulled my world down, shattered it into pieces really... but he is building it up around the two of us.  I guess the only real accurate way to describe it is this: he has ripped my heart in two, but replaced one side with a half of his.  Am I the only one that makes sense to?  I think my heart would stop beating without him.  Damn the luck, but curse the good fortune to find someone you think should be your soulmate if there was such a thing.

It's hard not being with him.  Damn near impossible to fall asleep w/o wishing to God he was here laying by my side. Believing what I believe, hoping what I hope, and loving the dream of what life could be like I do.  Too often I wonder: Will God accept a sinner like me?  Someone who has a weak heart like mine?  I don't know, to be honest.  Sometimes I think I have the answer right in my face.  Other times, I swear he's telling me to not let go.  To never give up hope.  Some day things will be all right.  Some day they'll be okay.  He'll wipe the tears from my eyes and things won't be anymore.  Am I wrong?

Trapped Inside

Behind closed doors

Inside my mind

I peer out

And see my life

Through the haze

I realize

The life im in

Is full of lies

Pretty face

Behind sad eyes

Lonliness kept

While my insides die

The love i have

For you is real

But i cant tell you

How i feel

If i do you'll run away

Because of

My warped and

Twisted ways

I cut myself

To se me bleed

Scream and yell

Your all i need

So far from normal

To fin my way back

Inside this shell

I am forever trapped

Cuts

Silence

Only tears

As i press the blade

Against my pale skin

Red

The blood flows

From the wounds

Echoing my inner pain

Satisfaction

As i feel thknife

Slicing into me

I only deserve pain

Anguish

As i realize what ive done

I feel acomplishment

As i gaze at the marks opon my skin

Stares

People are horrified

Dont understand why

Niether do i

Questions

Cant you see? Dont you care

I want to die?

Dont you listen? Cant you hear

My silent cry?

Wont you turn? Cant you hold me

To your heart?

Are you afraid of what might follow

Once you start?

Would you rather not belive

Im in such pain?

That all your sense and good advise

Must be in vain?

Feelings

Its amazing how i feel when im around you,

How my heart pounds when you come into a room.

I look at you and think, My God! How Lovely!

And everything i am bursts into bloom.

I feel as though you must, you must be mine.

Not as a possession but as a goal,

Something almost unimaginable.

The free devotion of another soul.

As though i were about to enter heaven,

Or just within the hour condemmed to die.

My mind with one fierce thought keeps running over,

With you, and only you, the reason why.

concerning...distractions

i stand before you, or sit, for the fact that it is hard to type while in the upright position, and say that i freaking hate distractions... they come in all shapes and sizes, whether we ourselves make them or someone else is constantly bugging the living life out of us; they flipping suck... As you all should know i am a hard working devoted college student (my butt) and i have my fair share of work that i have to do.  One could say that yes simply all i need to do is sit down and get it done; however, in my world this is much harder than one would expect... If i choose to write my paper in  my room in my apartment i have to deal with a roomy doing Lord knows what on the bunk above (yes i have bunk beds, which my father made) or constantly comming in and out with his friends bent on conquering the school record for consecutive hours without sleep...(this generally implies that they are looking for someone to "hump" (in a clearer sense) e.g. me) Or if i find myself in the library, i seem to distract myself by either turning books backwards on the self just to pee someone off, or taking large fruit or vegetables and rolling them down the rows of books (seriously, do it with a pumpkin)...  nevertheless distractions are everywhere and they blow chunks...

i have no idea why i wrote this im sorry for inflicting it upon the world

    ***You Are a Chimera***

You are very outgoing and well connected to many people.
Incredibly devoted to your family and friends, you find purpose in nurturing others.
You are rarely alone, and you do best in the company of others.
You are incredibly expressive, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by your strong emotions.

Soo, Vegas was epic, as always. I think I'm in love with the Santa Cruz Nomad..mm.. Also, the new Norco Fluid SE rides beautifully. The Stinky Pinky as I mentioned before, just freakin awesome to see. They lowered the price by a good 800 smackeroos, so it hurts marginally less to fork over that $5000. The bike industry is just loving breast cancer awareness, and tons of companies are jumping on the band wagon to support, and gain props for themselves. I scored some pink Scott grips, and pink Jagwire shift cables and housing for my bike.
Did anyone know that JellyBelly is making energy jelly beans? It's freakin crazy! They call them sport beans, and basically, they're bigger JellyBellys, in a tiny little package. They taste pretty good, but I can't really say if they gave me energy or not.
NWD 7 premiere was fantastic. Nothing beats a pool party at the Palms with oodles of drunk bikers, and Sweatshop Union throwin down the beats. Luckily, it wasn't until after we left the Palms that I got thrown into a pool fully clothed. $10 for a redbull and vodka made me and the boys want to take off shortly after the video concluded, and we headed to the Hard Rock to party with the Canadians.. More drinking there, paired with losing money on the slots, and running into Mitch again, whom I love/hate for giving me a ridiculous nickname only 10 minutes after we met. Am I ever going to live down DJ Jazzy Jocelyn? Probably not..thanks again..and you owe me a Roam hat. After the Hard Rock, it was back to our hotel, a cute little resort just off the Strip, right behind the Imperial Palace and the Venetian. Devon and Kyle figured this was a good time to hit up the pool at hot tub. It was about 2am at this point. I decided swimming was a no for me, but I'd go hang out with them down by the pool because they wouldn't let up about it. So I sit down, and not even 5 minutes later, both guys run up on either side of me, and throw me, and my deck chair in the pool. I spent a good 30 seconds being upset about being in a pool in my clothes, and then we just laughed and hung out in there for a good two hours. I'm sorry to the people that had rooms close to the pool, that was us making all the noise.
Obviously, I didn't take out the camera nearly as much as I should've. But I assure you, it was because I was too busy having a good time, and walking for what seemed like 50 miles around the damn Sands Expo.. All in all, it was a good trip. We took the guys that hadn't been to Vegas before down to Freemont St, where the hideously drunk people were actually more entertaining than the light show. Also, the hardcore god worshippers telling us that he's angry with us and we're sinners for drinking, gambling and cursing were quite amusing. I didn't win any money, but I came away with two sweet sets of CrankBros pedals for dirt cheap, and drank lots of free beer, so life is good.
