The 2008~09 season was incredible. We had a whole bunch of cool and unique guys and girls train with us this season and a lot of returning campers pushing their limits as well. Big backcountry jump days, deep powder runs, terrain park improvement, Core night park action, secret pillow fields, cornices, tree runs...you name it, we did it all. From novice riders sliding boxes and riding powder for the first time to seasoned returning campers grabbing their inverts, sticking larger cliffs and every level and experience in between.Good times, great memories, huge improvement and the end of the season video to prove it. From all of the staff and coaches - A huge “Thank You” to all of the great campers who allowed us to be a part of their winter season! It was an amazing season with all of you guys here and keep riding on.

Day 1
I was pretty nervous when I left home and took a flight to Vancouver BC. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to snowboard as good as the others, but when I went, you're organized into groups depending on your level. It was silly of me to worry, but when i did go, the campers were pretty chill so it didn't even matter anyways. Well anyways, when I landed in Vancouver, I met so many people at the airport going to Whistler Summer Snowboard Camp. When we all boarded the camp bus/shuttle I met even MORE people. During the evening, we were to meet at the mountain room (a huge room with a big screen tv). There we were introduced to all the coaches and info about the camp, like camp rules, schedual, and activites. When i got to my room, there I met my 2 roomates! They were the same level as me at snowboarding and same age too! They were also in my group which was cool. I made friends really quick.

Day 2-6

The park is siiiiiiiick. They have their own terrain on Blackcomb Mountain, with jumps, rails, boxes, and a tent that you can just chill at if you're tired or hungry. The weather felt like it was 20 degrees, it was so hot! I think that's really cool, the weather being really warm and being able to snowboard. I know what you're thinking, but no! The snow isn't all slush! There's plenty of snow and the groomers of their camp groom it everyday so it's all good. I got a pretty sick goggle tan.

Activites

Out of all the activites, I've got to say that bungee jumping was my favourite! You're there with all your friends going bungee jumping! There's other activities like wakeboarding, paintball, mountain biking, driving range/miniputt, skateboarding, indoor rockclimbing, games room/movie lounge, pool/hot tub at the hotel, tennis/volleyball/dodgeball, or just chilling at Whistler Village!

Overall, this was the highlight of my summer!

Good times in the backcountry. Some of the crew took their Level 1 Avalanche course, so we set out for a backcountry trip to build a road gap, ride some pillow fields and spend the night in a cool cabin. No roads for hours, no tracks but our own and we were surrounded by huge mountain peaks. After building a nice road gap jump, we hit it until well after sundown. Then we rode back to the front door of the cabin and chilled for the night. Good food, good music and great company. We woke up to about 15cms of fresh snow overnight. After a pretty funny cook up on the stove, we headed out to ride a powder pillow field for the day. Good times, a great crew, amazing powder and funny stories. www.corecamps.com

Call me crazy but I find LIFE to be one giant opportunity for adventure after another.. We can either park ourselves on the couch or we can get up and chase an adventure.. I feel saddened for all of those people that choose the couch..  Me, I'd choose adventure everytime..

So in the sense of another adventure I enrolled in flying lessons..   That's right people the fairy is taking flying lessons so that soon she can be flying the big blue sky in a helicopter.. At the moment I'm in the "learning the machine process".. I can't wait to get up in the air!!!  My instructor is pretty cool and very patient.. He's very serious about his job which is good cuz lets face it I'm hyper and if he lets me have my way I'd be all over the place.. Hopefully he's got a strong heart cuz I'm sure I'm going to give him many "moments of near death experiences" once I've got control of the heli!

Woohoo!!! I can flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!! (okay so not yet but soon lol)

Road trips

With the lack of snow on the Island this last month we were getting a little too antsy to sit around so we headed out on holiday road. First we went out to Banff and hit up Sunshine Village. It was my first time out to the rockies and it was awesome! The weather was perfect; sunny and cold and we got lots of killer pics and footage for our new movie project. We'll definitely be going back again. Thanks a lot to Doug Firby for the great hospitality. www.skibanff.com

Patrick Kitto enjoying the cold smoke out in Banff. Mmm Mmm good

When we got home there was still not very much snow so we packed up some clean undies and headed out again, this time to Whistler. Whistler is always wicked and this trip was no exception. We shredded the opening day of Blackcomb and then Whistler the next day and it rocked ( my board and my mind ) haha. Early season conditions joke... Thanks to Ryan Proctor for hooking us up. www.whistlerblackcomb.com

Myles col' kickin' it with his favourite run on Blackcomb behind him: the Sudan Couloir

When we got home from Whistler, guess what? Still not that much snow. So we packed up some more clean undies and headed out again, this time to Golden. Now if you've been to Kicking Horse you know it's rad. Steep, deep and gnarly. We had a wicked time there until the third day when the temperatures were a cool -28 in the hills and our nostrils were sticking together when we went outdoors. We all looked like Michael Jackson with our noses frozen closed so we bundled our Vancouver Island butts back into the truck, cranked the heat and headed back west. Thanks to Jordan Petrovics for the hook up.

Matty, Joe and our main man Eric. "Close the damn door, it's cold!" Thanks to Eric for setting us up so good. You rule Rolston!

Matt Trigg riding some deep, cold stuff with Ole in the background filming. Trigger kind of looks like Darth Vader coming out of there.

Back Home
Now don't get me wrong, we've had a few good days of hiking around here. We've been noboarding up the hill quite a bit and even hitting some urban stuff in town with the cold temperatures.

No bindings? No problem... Ole loves noboarding. photo by Patrick Kitto

Perry & Louise... Videos videos videos!!!

So Perry calls us up last minute late Wednesday afternoon because Ben's out of town and he wants someone from the office to head over to Boardroom around six that night to do the IS Eyewear PK for him. Steve's out of town, I have plans so Jr.Burger agrees to help out. I help JB "short for Jr.Burger" get stuff ready then leave the office for the day. The next morning I ask JB how it went. So he gives me the run down then starts telling me about Perry's cute little introduction where he kisses JB's ass for saving his day and shi*t talks me & Steve. "JB's a super hard worker... Blah blah blah... I love him so much... Blah blah blah... he's the only person in the who office that actually works... Blah blah blah... Once Scientists figure it out I want to have his Child... Blah blah blah... I can't believe Karl gets paid a salary to do a blog and I don't even know what Steve does over there?" Real nice Perry. Didn't you just get back from a 3 week holiday where you and your buddy Thelma and Louised it across Canada... You poor thing, Couves must really be working you to the bone.. Haha

The IS Video Player is slowly filling up with content. Its pretty cool, you can download video directly to desktops or to mobile devices. I've set up a bunch of channels with more to come. So far we have PartySnake, Airhole, Kale, Dev, Duff, Daves Updates, Lil Bastards, 15Peddler and Archive channels where we'll be constantly uploading footage. We'll be setting up a SponsorMeChannel shortly where we'll be posting all the sponsor me videos we receive for the world to see and our team to watch and decide who makes the cut. To get your sponsor me video on the SponsorMeVideo channel send it to info@iseyewear.com in a quicktime format.

And now I'm stuck here for another year and a half. I wish my degree was offered at IUSB or SMC or something. That is honest to God the only reason I'm still here. Stupid nasty big cities that have creeps on scooters everywhere are not cool!

I miss the old me. The old me with the great friends. I miss the Megan, Jordan, Matt, Drew days more than anything in the world right now. I think that's why I'm strugglin so bad right now haha.... Life just isn't the same. It's almost like Jordan and I were the glue, the "mom and dad" (like Drew said haha) that held us all together... and now we're done. Wow, newsflash, Megan... this all happened a year ago! Hah I'm gay. Anyway, I just hope that I don't start drifting away from Matt and Drew. I know Jordan and I have no hope... ::sigh:: A year and some later... umm... umm... why does the break-up still kind of suck? Haha. Life is just blah without those boys. They were always down for something. The people down here are boring as f*ck. All they do is drink... which is fun on occasion, but every night of the week? Flippin alcoholics haha. I miss wandering around downtown or playing poker and eating pancakes haha. I especially miss Swiss with them. I really don't think there will be a point in my life ever again that can compare to those days. And playing cards all day on Sundays with Jordan because there was never anything better to do haha. Well, it makes me feel better that he's with a real cool girl now, though. I won't lie... I think she's really good for him.

Time to move on. Finally. Blah.

Today I just arrived in Saas Fee for the first day of the FIAT rookie camp.. we all arrived in saas fee in the sun which became rain after a short and necessary lunch brake..  Romain de Marchi, the 15 kids and I. The rookies were selected based on small video parts they sent of themselves snowboarding, and invited by FIAT to come spend 3 days with us.. we first introduced each of us.. the hello my name is, i come from and my favorite trick is.. etc.. then we played beach volleyball in the sand with a soccer ball so right now i m pretty much soaking wet with about a pound of sand in my hair 2 radiating red fore arms and 2 scratched knees .. oh! and guess who is here? remember Ramona? the coolest letter i ever recieved? well her sister and brother are here.. and she draw another really cool pic!

our first riding day was chill.. i didn’t feel like riding much but it was cool to watch the kids ripping and to feel their motivation.. being in saas fee reminds me of when i came here to ride everyday for 4 months.. and those kids  are in that exact state of mind.. they want to shred all day everyday.. it s inspiring! after riding we had a run through the vita course with Romain explaining to the kids how important training is to avoid injuries.. and we played some more volley ball..

the second started with very icy slopes and kicker but got really fun after a couple hours.. it was fun to shred and to get some of their motivation. the afternoon was spent on tips on how to contact sponsors, the basics of a sponsorship contract and a couple of what to do and not to do on interviews.. then we went hitting some golf balls.. the cool thing with this camp is that they didn’t know eachother before coming here and now they are shred buddies! i m sure they ll keep in contact with each other the camp.. and that’s really cool!

sunday sunny morning on the glacier of saas fee judging all the kids hitting the last 2 kickers of the park.. out of the 15 rookies, it was cool to see the 2 girls shred.. Anais Cettou was doing good on her frontside 360 and 540.. for the boys the top 3 rode really well; Basile Specker got 3rd with stylish and good amplitude on backside 720 to frontside 720, David Bertschinger finished 2nd with good style on frontside 900 to cab 720, and our FIAT ROOKIE 2008 is Patrick who stomped almost each time with great style and technicity, changing tricks on each of his runs, backside 720 to frontside 720, cab 900, switch backside 900 to backflip (those are the stomped ones).. quite impressive for a 14 years old!!

I was stoked to take part of this FIAT camp and get to meet all those young shredders.. hopefully i ll see them soon again.. they’ll probably take my job soon enough!

You Can Fix the Xbox 360 Red Light Easy!

Click here: Xbox 360 Red Light Fix

Although it might seem unbearable, it is actually not that difficult to learn how to fix a broken Xbox 360.

In fact, it is feasible to repair yours right at home without any  technical
know how or use of special equipment. Most individuals shouldn't have any problems at all when fixing their Xbox 360, 99% of them time and depending on what the problem is, you should be able to fix it within an hour to 2 hours.

When it comes to fixing your console, you'll find within this article, exactly what you should do and where you should go to get started on repairing your broken Xbox 360, I won't necessarily be able to describe the entire process in this article, but I can recommend a great place to start.

Because the Xbox 360 contains such a large amount of processing power in such a small space it is quite prone to overheating.Just play one for a few of hours non-stop and it is likely that the console will become
exceedingly hot.

Of course this heat is not at all good for the delicate components inside, and the
lack of an efficient cooling system only adds to the issue.

Extreme amounts of heat can cause damage to the processor, memory, hard drive
and basically anything else inside!

The funny thing is, why the every so notorious "3 Rings of Death" occur, is because the Xbox 360 heats up so much that it melts lead free based soldering around the GPU processor, leading to 3 flashing lights on the outside of the console and an entire system shutdown.

Because of the poor design of the Xbox 360, you can now better understand how to repair a broken Xbox 360, because you now understand why most problems due eventually happen from overheating.

Before you jump in knee deep and start taking your Xbox 360 apart, you're going to first have to identify the main fault and what you need to do to repair it properly.

One of the best moves you can make for yourself is to get a repair manual, not just any repair manual, but Xbox 360 red Lights repair manual, but that's just my opinion, however, whatever repair manual you choose, you'll get the instructions, video tutorials and step by step guidance you need to get the job done correctly the first time, you can be sure of that!

Another thing you can do, is find a few reviews on the different, there are lots of Xbox 360 repair guides available, but not all of them are good, so finding a review or two, you'll get a better idea of what guide will work best for you and your particular Xbox 360 error code.

Last year I went out to do some shooting (photos), and it was freezing. I’m talking -20 F, then add on the windchill. It was night and I needed this shot for college project. So I went outside with a friend and did some street shots. Long story short, it was too cold and the zipper pull on my Bonfire jacket broke in half. I had to pry the tiny piece out of the actual zipper and now have a keyring as a pull. Not exactly working.

So I called up Bonfire Headquarters, which is also Salomon in case you didn’t know, and told the nice guy who answered my cry for help. He clarified to make sure it was just a zipper pull I needed promptly took my address. He said he was sending out a few zipper pulls for me, and if I didn’t see them in the mail within 2 weeks, gave me his name and said call back, but that they should leave there in a day or two. Super nice, understanding and efficient. Those guys are awesome and so are their clothes.

Want to see for yourself? Bonfire just launched the 2008-2009 website and it’s sick. I went looking into the Women’s Jacket section since I’m in the market this year again. When you get there the whole collection loads up and shows you color options and a ‘Buy’ button. There was no immediately obvious back button, but you can use the menu at the top. I learned this after hitting my browser back button and leaving the Bonfire site multiple times. What’s cool, is that when you get back to the jacket collection page, or any other, the jackets appear in different colors, so each time you go, it’s a surprise.

Thanks for reading,

SNOWBOARDERS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILD SEX SLAVERY

Wouldn’t it be rad if you could help make someone else’s life better by doing something you love? While you’re out shreddin, making turns and having a good time with your friends, someone’s life is making a turn for the better. We have come up with something pretty epic and it’s called the ZION POP Program (People of the Planet). The POP Program is people driven and is all about Social Justice. We have made it our mission to help out our fellow humans who have been dealt a bad hand. This is the part of ZION Snowboards that we call “serious fun.” There are some hardcore issues happening in our world and we thought it would be rad to involve  core snowboarders in making a difference. With the POP program we will be donating 10% of the sale of our participating products to charities that help make people’s lives better. Cool thing is - you can do this while you’re doing your switch backside 10’s or Tindy’s!

ZION is stoked to announce that our first partnership for the POP Program will be the Ratanak Foundation! ZION will be donating 10% of the sale of POP Products sold in our Flagship Online Shop to the Ratanak Foundation's New Song Project. The New Song Project is dedicated to

fighting child sex trafficking in Cambodia. We had a chance to meet up with Brian - the Founder of the Ratanak Foundation and we literally had our jaws on the floor after hearing about what was going on in the brothels of Cambodia with children as young as 5 years old. These children are being violated 10-20 times a day for a cost of 2 dollars per customer. Young virgins however, can go for up to five hundred dollars because customers that have AIDS believe they will be cured if they have sex with a virgin. You can imagine the devastation that this brings. The New Song Project is all about rescuing these children and rehabilitating them so that they can learn what if means to be a normal human being. The children that are rescued are brought to a top secret, high security location where they are in rehab for about 2 years. They are taught to be children again - most of them do not know what being a child is - they never got the chance. This stuff is not a cake walk - this is secret mission James Bond and Chuck Norris kind of stuff because the children need to be extracted from the brothels and pimps and then secretly brought to a safe location. As you can imagine the pimps do not want to lose their "product" so this is a very dangerous job for the rescuers whose lives are at risk every time they do a rescue operation.

The goal of the ZION Snowboards POP Program is to put as big a dent as possible into the beast of child sex slavery. Partnering up with the Ratanak Foundation is going to change children’s lives one at a time and give them a chance to be normal humans after everything has been brutally stripped from them.

ZION is a company founded and run by snowboarders. Our office is the mountain and the only suits we wear to work are snowsuits. We hope that building boards with maximum fun factor, offering products that set you apart at your local scene, and involving you in making other people’s lives better will get you stoked on ZION.

Please visit www.zionsnowboards.com and click on the shop online link to view our latest POP Products. More Products will be added on a regular basis.
