So, I'm finally back home from my trip, and my sleeping patterns are completely shot.
I went back 7 hours, so the time change screwed me up even more!

You should have seen my cat when I walked through the door.
He stared at me, then attacked my leg. After about 5 minutes of him clung to my leg, he finally realized it was me. (Spazz)

My bunny was just like, "oooh, people, PET ME!"

Midwest Snowfest 2008
Nice and sunny, packed groomers
Ext-remo w/ Cartels
Spent a good portion of the day with the wife on the bunny hill and then a long green run.
She's coming along but wants to graduate first before going for it all
Attempted my first rail - a small one in the beginner park.  Slipped.
Did a little night riding after fab dinner.  Kinda eerie going up the lift in the dark.
Attempted to ride switch one whole run.  Mildly successful.
Crazy party at the bar afterwards.  Tim is nuts.

Well, I'm not any better than I was a year ago, but I still had a blast yesterday. I can't wait until the rest of Seymour is open and I can attempt more than the bunny hill. I'm going to be spending the rest of this week healing and looking forward to the weekend. I should be heading up Seymour again Saturday morning, weather permitting. I am praying for snow on friday and sun on Saturday. I know how cooperative the weather usually is here so I'm not holding my breath but hey, you never know.
Still having issues figuring out my stance. I think it may just be a confidence thing, but at least I was turning in both directions without falling on my ass by the end of the day yesterday. I'm hoping a couple more times out and I might even be sort of carving (haha, at least, not falling every ten feet when I try to make consistent turns).
Ahhh...cannot wait for more snow!!!!!!

Alright, so with the INCREDIBLE lack of snow around most of the Colorado mountains, it's been a tough start to the year.  Today was a nice opener of powder with Snow Mass in Aspen claiming 5 inches, Breckenridge claiming 9 inches, and all the rest claiming about 4-5.  It's much needed as all the resorts here in Colorado only have about an 18 inch base.  Here has been my riding schedule thus far:

 - Early season - Arapahoe Basin - 1 day of fun in the sun, 2 runs open and a couple boxes to jib on.  It was lame but worth the leg warm up for a couple hours.

 - Season openers - Vail - Wednesday November 21st - rode it, it's ice, 1 run, busy as hell and not worth the wait in line.  Only chair 8 is open STILL 1 week from the opening day.  Don't be fooled, the Gondola is running but for foot traffic only.  Lets see if they open up some more.

 - I also rode Vail again on Thursday of Thanksgiving Nov 22nd - with my friend, and girlfriend's brother, newly turned PROFESSIONAL Skiier, Sean Hartel.  He's an up and coming pro as he just opened up this year to sponsors.  He needs more so please check him out - pulls cab 10s in the pipe, hits 75 ft gaps with mute 12s or even a switch double back flip..... that's right a switch double back flip.  Check out Sean Hartel on YouTube to see some of his stuff.  Amazing skiier.  Anyway - on Thursday of Thanksgiving they did open up another run - all catwalk and not worth the price of a lift ticket, but it was a fun day anyways.

 - Friday - Nov 30th - I took off riding to work, rest, and breakdance later that night.  Then attended a new skate shop opening here in Edwards called The Den.  Lots of decent clothes and the shop is decorated quite nice.  Located in Riverwalk - the owners are really cool so stop in and check it out.

 - And then hit A Basin on Saturday with my lady's whole family.   That was nice. They opened the top lift to extend the runs a little higher, and it was a great day of riding.  Not too crowded and sunny.  But still only the 2 lifts running (besides the one lift for the bunny hill).

 - Sunday was a late and lazy day.  12 noon or so was about when we made it to Vail.  No one was there so it was kind of nice riding straight onto the lifts.  Good times.  But we still could use some snow... and some terrain... and some snow... and maybe a jib would be nice.  But it was just plain old Vail... 2 runs... lame.

 - Monday was a training day and so I didn't get a chance to ride (working as well).

 - And that brings us to yesterday - Tuesday Nov 27th - I've very proud to say I got up in BeaverCreek, my local resort for the first time.  Only 1 lift open, and it was a sheet of ice on the 1 run... but the park guys created about 10-12 nice jibs for us to play on.  A flat box, and flat rail to start.  Double picnic tables, a barrel jump, and many more.  Thanks guys!

 - there was 6 inches of fresh snow at the Beave today (Wed, Nov 28th) and it snowed throughout the morning so it may have been a nice day to ride.  Breck claims 9, everyone else about 4.  Beave with 6.  I bet they opened some more lifts and runs today (all the resorts have been making snow like crazy). Here is my official email from Vail Resorts:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 inches in the past 24 hours and 6 inches in the past 48 hours!
Here is a link to our most recent powder day video -
http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid307714995/bclid471470177/bctid1326439270

More snow means more terrain!  We are currently top-to-bottom from Eagle's Nest.  And just opened today, is Pride
Express (Chair 26) offering portions of Simba and Bwana trails, and Minnie's (Chair 9).  Also open is Born Free Express (Chair 8), Chair 15, the Gondola and 2 carpets, with 175 acres.
Get all the details here - http://vail.snow.com/winter/tm.current.dateshours.asp
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get up here and ride folks, the season has arrived.

P.S.> Forgot to mention - Copper has the only Pipe open in North America at the moment so some really famouse people have been in town to hit it.  That is the main reason Sean Hartel was here, to get Pipe runs in before some big comps coming up soon.

My thoughts don't seem to want to flow in any given order today.. I’m attributing it to my lack of sleep last night and to the continued mugginess here.. So in my usual style I'm just going to open my mind and let things come out.. I might ramble so be prepared..

Once again I awakened from the same nightmare I’ve had since the accident.. Fractured pieces of a turbulent mind. I truly believe that the unconscious knows best.. That it’s best to not remember.. But is it a memory or a dream.. I still struggle with this thought.. The memory has a gauzy, nebulous quality to it.. It does not have that non-reality to it, that impressionism that dreams do.. Maybe it is reality.. Sigh.. I truly believe that grief is worse than death. When someone you love has died it’s almost impossible to get your head around it. The totality of it, your utter helplessness against it, it makes you feel as if you could burst into flames from sheer emotional agony .. I still hurt.. Will it ever end.. You’d think since it’s almost been a year that the hurt would fade into the vast expanse that is nothingness.. That has yet to be the case..

So running on little to no sleep last night I did what I always do.. I sought out my horses and let them ease my soul.. And as usual put myself to work.. It was such a beautiful morning I didn’t mind being up before the birds were.

Then the humidity swept in.. Aye how easily it zaps ones energy.. One minute I’m cheery and singing the next my tank top (along with all my other clothing and hair) is stuck to my skin like a second layer and my cheeriness is slowly deflating.. Today was not the day for Texas to come pulling up in my driveway bearing his 2 horses I specifically told him I thought his vet was better off handling.. His next strike came when he thought I was a lowly farm hand and tried to charm me into unloading his horses while he went to find the "owner".. Though it felt more like he was attempting a seduction and I was the main course.. I didn’t correct him as it happens all the time cuz apparently I look like I’m a kid still (laughing) and let him wander off into my barn while I sneaked in to exam his horses.. I’m a sucker for deep brown soulful eyes and both his horses had em in spades.. As I touched their satiny coats I knew I’d attempt to help them.. How could I resist.. So I unloaded and had them in my outdoor arena before Tex came back with my top therapist. Who pointed out to him that his horses were already in the hands of Morningstar’s owner. Laughing.. The look on his face was priceless.

Now I’m in my office guzzling energy enhanced vitamin water, which tells me that I can have the energy of a raving lunatic and will be yelling "goooooooooooooooal" soon. I guess that’s better than the Mtn. Dew I was craving.. That would have been Hello Energizer Bunny on Steroids! Laughing.. No one needs me in that mode on a humid day such as today.. Or ever really. Looking out my office windows I notice the sky looks black above the lake so I'm assuming relief is on it's way in the form of breezy cool winds carrying a thunder storm quickly on it’s heals.. HELLO SWEET RELIEF!! I soo love the violence of a thunder storm.. Heck getting poured on is a thrill..

All this rambling to say ~ Is it snowing yet?!?!

I stand teetering on this 11,000 foot mountain edge, ready to take the plunge.
I balance my snowboard; my mind imagines that I am struggling to balance my life.
My heart is pounding; the elevation makes it difficult to breathe the clean, crisp air of this panoramic location. Is this an actual drop I want to make on this double black diamond slope? Or is this the plunge I must take toward my adulthood? I might fall, or worse wipe out on my journey through life. Chances are better I will gracefully glide through the deep powder, and have a wonderful journey. But what if I catch an edge? Like obstacles in life. I yearn to scream in terror as my snowboard tilts toward the back side of the mountain, the easy way down. I yearn to cushion my body and mind and fall back into that wonderful world of childhood comfort. I want to once again fall straight back into the deep snow and create snow angels without any worries. But yet life is not a comfort zone, it is a constant pulling of this rope and that rope. I feel that the ropes are becoming too tight as I stand and teeter on the edge. I loosen the grasp and go forward down that double black diamond slope of life. Why does life have to be like this? I yearn to be back on that gondola, returning to the security of the bunny hills. I gasp. Goodbye childhood. Hello world. I plunge.

i hurt my back march 28
since then i have had severe pain in my lower back. do to the lack of people taking calls  for appointments i waited until today... to final drive my happy ass to the doctor... when i get there i tell him what is up with my back... from there he gives me some back medicine, and another appointment with a back doctor(i am going to save you all from my horrible spelling). anyway i go to this back specialist. and he man handles my back. tells me that my back has been in a constant spasm for the past two months and has done some damage....hence the crappy bunny hops and bike riding. so he take me to this machine thats send an electrical current through my back muscles to "LOOSEN" then up. wierd. so i get this shock treatment for 15mins.... good times.
now i am watching a butt load of movies YAY BLOCKBUSTER!
so if you want to head over
it would be nice
i can barely move.

My Blog: Castle Wars
By: cetra70

I was playing Castle Wars earlier today. I felt like I was a true Zamorak, so I didn't go through the Guthix portal, but went straight to Zammy (I like turning into a sheep...lol) I had double armor and weapons: a set of mage (zammy robes, top, air staff, and magic ammy), and melee (addy top, skirt, and g maul). After being absolutely useless (well, I still kicked SOME butt...lol) during the previous games, I decided to go on the offensive (but I maged for just a lil bit). So I stocked up on bandages and began the trip to the opponent's tower. I was quickly met with annoying arrows and spells on the way in...luckily, my armor deflected most of them...plus I was healing...I grabbed the flag on the top floor, despite several people piling me and being blocked by multiple barricades (I used up my exploding pots already...), ran out, while being barraged by mages, rangers, and several dragon-weilding fellows...I managed to run back to base and score, while several people were fighting in the tower...I repeatedly did this, getting targeted by the opponents more and more each time they saw me coming...lol...I was never killed while wielding the flag, which makes me happy :D

By the time the 20 mins. was up, I had scored two (maybe 3) times...out of five...okay, so it wasn't THAT big a deal, but considering that I was only a lvl 62 being attacked and piled by lvl 100s, it was pretty awesome :) It ended up to be a tie game though...*sigh* But at least that was one ticket...

I probably should have stuck with Zamorak, but Guthix was calling me again...so I went into the portal...it was in Sara...I went back outside and kept trying Zammy (cuz the Sara team was pretty bad...*sigh*), but to no avail...I was forced to stick with Sara...But this time I only had my addy armor with me (so no sheep or bunny transformation) and no weapon (so I could run better, I suppose...). <I was in the bathroom, so I had my bro take me to the portal, lol> When I came back to the computer, the first phrases I saw were "The Lvl 62" "She kept scoring" "I just couldn't kill her"...I wasn't sure if they were talking to me at first, but my bro also commented, "They're talking about you!"

I walked up to him and the following conversation was held...
"You talkin about me?" *follows me*
"That's her!"
"She has like 99 def"
"My def is only 47 (or something)"
"She had protect from magic"
"My prayer is only 31"
*he walks away and keeps chatting with the other people*
...I couldn't help but smile...ahaha...the thing that kept going on in my head was: Cool, I caught the attention of a lvl 101...SHWEET!

After the game started, this particualrly obnoxious guy said "Brb...with the Zammy flag" I was somewhat annoyed for some reason, but I decided to attack neway...even though it could've been pointless...Well...he got killed on the way down...(lol)...and during that time, I had managed to sneak in to the top floor (I used the tunnels that time...)I killed the guard, and another person showed up...The flag respawned and the guy said "U" (I meant to take it neway...even though they were higher leveled...), so I took it and ran...on the way back, I ran to the same lvl 101...he said "you again!" lmao! *does a little victory dance* ahaha...but I had to go right after I scored, so I said goodbye to a likely win and left the arena...

My Blog: Lost City
By: cetra70

I'm sorry, but that quest was really dumb...well, maybe not dumb, but WAAAAYYY too easy...I killed it in 15 hits...*scratches head* Was that supposed to happen?...And all this time I've been stalling cuz I wasn't sure if I could do it...now I regret ever doubting myself...

After finishing that, I went into Zanaris and got really bored. There was nothing in there worth anything *deep sigh*...but maybe there'll be more stuff in the marketplace...I haven't gotten in there cuz I didn't have a cut diamond...I think they sell dragon daggers and dragon longswords in there...I can't weild them yet though...need 60 attack...

So after going on a two-week time-wasting period, its back to training...even more because I'm starting to run out of runes...not good...and since I always mage in the mingames I play, I won't be much use there if i'm rune-less...

Flesh Crawlers, be prepared, I'm coming for you again!  I'm gonna be training for 60 attack so they're gonna have to die a decent bit...(I'm only 51 attack at the moment...)

P.S. Woot, 50 quest points

I would've gotten more, but the slayer monsters in the Lumby Swamp kept messing me up...and I almost got killed...all I need is a giant frog leg, and I'll be done with Rag and Bone Man...

Oh, and I was doing Priest in Peril before I left...

Then Witch's House...which is one of the most annoying quests ever...it's so easy...but I got caught once and had to go back for some cheese...then when I came back to her house, I accidentally ATE the cheese...*head slap*

...Oh well...at least I managed to finish the Easter Event...so I finally have the bunny hop emote  It's so cute! XD

P.S.S. I have to clean out my bank! I keep running out of space! Actually, just finishing rag and bone man will clear out 8-9 spaces...so thats okay...

It's been a hectic past couple of weeks and I'm finally catching up with myself.  I took a 6 day vacation about a week ago to meet up with some friends in Cranbrook and ride along the way.  The plan was to hit 6 mountains in 6 days (dubbed the 6-6 tour) I'll try to summarize what happened.

Day 1: I arrived in Golden late Wednesday just as a few flakes were starting to fall.  After a couple of beers and a good nights rest, I woke up to about 15 cm of unexpected snow.  Jackpot!  Got gnarly at Kicking Horse.  I'm convinced that something was lost in translation when they named the resort...probably got a horse confused with a donkey because that place was definiately kicking ass.  (It took me all trip to come up with that)  Anyways, next time I'll try to hook up with someone that knows the hill because it's pretty intimidating going to a ledge and not knowing whether it'll be the customary 5 foot drop to the run or maybe a 30 foot rock cliff.  The best riding I did was actually on the tamer front side of the hill through some fun, weed-covered areas.  Their park had some fun beginner kinked boxes to.  Oh, and side note: Tuna sandwiches are really f*cking expensive at this place.  They're good but not $7 good.  Anyways, I decided to book it to Banff for the night and after checking out the shops in town, I ended up drinking some beers with the locals in Wild Bills before finally passing out at Bumpers Inn.  Good start to the trip.

Day 2: I visited my old stomping ground in Banff.  Sunshine had it's typical perfect snow conditions under bluebird skies.  I did the usual routine of warming up by fooling around on the Standish hit runs then straight lining the divide into the park.  I was pretty stoked on how much the park has improved over the past 2 years.  My favorite feature was easily the wall ride which everyone else seemed to forget about.  After that, I headed out-of-bounds to hike the back door for some powder turns and natural features.  It's awesome being able to stop and take a piss with a view of the rockies.  Had lunch and drinks at the bottom pub aroudn 1 before heading back up for some more hiking and fun shredding.  After the day was done, I headed to Cranbrook under a full moon to meet up with the Calgary crew for some late night beers and story telling.

Day 3: Kimberely was a new hill for me.  I've never been there or even seen a picture of the place so I really had no idea what to expect.  Turns out the hill is super old school with just a high speed quad, a triple, and a double.  It was warm and sunny which turned the snow to mush by the time we'd bought our tickets and geared up.  Did a couple runs on the quad to start with Elise, Peter, Jeff, Lana, and Mara.  Elise is still learning so Jeff, Lana, and I bailed after 3 groomers and hit up the Easter and Tamarack chairs.  Found some fun tree runs  far shredders left with lots of drops, stashes, and natural jibs.  I was pretty stoked on Lana who rides better than most of the girls I've seen.  We met up with the others for lunch beers on the patio.  Elise was beat so Peter came with us for the afternoon.  Stoked!  The guy hits pretty much everything he can...I love riding with people like that.  More trees and hit runs til the chairs shut down.  Side note: all girls should have their stagettes on hill dressed in 80s retro onsies.  Loved it.  Then it was back to Peter's parents place to drink his dad's beer, eat his mom's caseroles, and soak in their hot tub.

Day 4: I woke up early excited to ride Fernie.  I haven't been there in about 12 years so I was pretty excited when I came down for brekfast.  Peter was the only other person who emerged from the depths mumbling something about people being hungover.  Whatever.  The two of us headed out and, after gearing up in the parking lot I realized I had forgotten my wallet in Cranbrook.  f*ck!  One swipe of Peter's visa later, we were headed straight to the top of the Lizard Bowl.  To get there you have to ride this rope tow with a sign that says "experts only" at the bottom of it.  I felt weird asking the liftie how to ride the damn thing because I don't think I ever really tried one before.  Most places leave the rope tows for the bunny hill but then again, Fernie isn't like most places.  The snow was pretty mushy again (+5 temps) so after a couple of slashers in "hot pow", we headed down to meet up with everyone else who brought my wallet with them!  Phew!).  Did some butter-filled laps on some easy green run with Elise and tried to do cartwheels which ended in a whole bunch of face wash.  Jeff, Lana, and I took off again and checked out the Cedar Bowl.  Nothing special went down other than the usual goofing off and getting lost.  Lana's front knee is pretty weak from past surgery/blow out so we were kind of choked when we ended up at some tbar by accident but she managed.  Elise hurt her tailbone or something so Peter came out with us after lunch just in time to watch some av blasting.  I've never been that close to it before...all I remember was it being a really loud bang and yelling woo in unison with everyone else on the hill.  Hit some fun gullies and log jibs and rode right to the end as usual.  I'd definiately go back there again.  Fernie is rad.  Said good byes in the parking lot and headed to my next stop: Nelson!

Day 5: Whitewater is henceforth known as Wetwater.  With the onslaught of slush falling from the sky mixed with temperatures hovering just above zero, I was pretty much soaked before I had even strapped in for my first run.  Whitewater was another new hill for me and it was exactly what I expected it to be: quaint little lodge with 2 double chairs, and barely any sign that someone else was on the hill with you.   It's very Baldy-esque.  The chairs felt like they were barely supporting your weight which is sort of creepy but you forget about it when you see the terrain around.  I spent most of the time on the Summit Side throwing sloppy turns on sloppier pow.  Some of my best runs were hiking in Catch Basin or dropping the trees shredder's right of Blast.  (Yes I had to consult a map for that run name)  There were some fun rock drops visible from the chair but once again, I felt like no one else noticed.  More for me!  Oh, and I'd like to note that pretty much everywhere you go, you'll end up riding a run with an avalanche caution sign.  I ate this amazing masterpiece of a burrito for lunch in the lodge pub.  If you are ever there, try it...the yam fries are worth the extra dollar.  After soaking both sets of gloves and jackets, I called it quits and went to check out the boardshops in Nelson and hang out in the Villa Motel where I was shacked up.

Day 6: If you're ever heading to Rossland from Nelson, you're supposed to turn off somewhere around Castlegar.  Now you know.  I didn't.  I was almost at Grande Forks before I realized what was going on and why I hadn't reached Red yet.  Oops!  I figured I would stop at Phoenix Mountain instead but they are closed Tuesday so it wasn't long before I was passing through Penticton on my way to Apex for the afternoon.  I was super stoked on the pipe and bombing the groomers off Stocks chair.  I wasn't so stoked on the crowd of Keg employees that had taken over the hill but I did see two girls chest bump over a volleyball game so it wasn't a complete loss.  I was kind of sad that I could't find anyone to ride with in my own hometown but people have jobs and stuff so c'est la vie.

That's it.  I'll post some pictures from the trip if anyone care.  I just chilled this weekend because the conditions were pretty much shi*te at biggie.  Only a few weeks left and it's starting to feel like spring is finally here.  Party on...

Three buxom blondes and Olympic gold medalist Shaun White descended on Vail Mountain this week. Hugh Hefner’s three girlfriends, Holly, Bridget and Kendra, took a break from the Playboy Mansion to learn how to snowboard for an episode of their show — the E! channel’s “The Girls Next Door.”

White, fresh from a silver medal win at the X Games, said he was happy to give the girls a few pointers.

“I thought they’d show up in fur coats and fur boots,” White joked after a quick lunch at Wildwood Restaurant at the top of Chair 3.

It was the first time on a board for Holly Madison, 27, and Bridget Marquardt, 33, who were taught by Vail Mountain instructors Chris Sandoski and Dave Wilson. Kendra Wilkinson, 21, got a little more face time with White and instructor Tim Stuart, even practicing rail slides at the Lionshead terrain park.

Wilkinson fell the first few times she tried “the box,” White said.

“She’s tough though, dude. She got right back up and nailed it.”
