so i moved out here december 30th... its now the end of may.  amazingly, my girlfriend and i are still not at each others throats and we still look forward to our evenings together... crazy!

so on the relationship front, everything is great... now job wise... not quite.

for those that i haven't talked to in a while, i left the suit place... they were trying to make myself and the other assistant manager fill in for the manager since she left... but without any mention of financial compensation.  so basically, having us run the store for hardly more than minimum wage... screw that... add to it the fact that my co-manager decided to take a power trip and claim i was somehow trying to steal his job away from him... so i walked out... literally.  told him he can be manager and gave him my keys to the store.  haven't been back since.

now i just got off the phone with the owner of a company here in town where he was offering me a position with them that could have been fun and also made me some contacts in the hospitality industry... i turned him down.  instead, i'm going to keep doing roofing with a friend of a friend.  i feel like i'm not doing something to my potential at all... but i can't seem to find something that is that actually seems more enjoyable or more financially lucritive.  this job i was offered was setting up accomodations and (golf) tee times for some corporate and private clients... kinda neat since i love golf and travel... but i was going to make the same amount of money weekly as roofing but having to work a minimum of 5 hours more per week.  plus, its kinda nice to be outside...

so how dumb am i to not take the sure job?... the one with set hours, set pay, set location...?  instead, i'm never sure my hours or where i'm working, i definitely am at a higher risk of hurting myself... i feel almost embarassed to tell my family and friends that i'm roofing...

so what i need are some people to either tell me i'm dumb and should call this guy at the golf place back, or that i'm better off roofing... we'll do a poll!

Yep.  Got up at JoJo's in Calgary at 4am.  Arrived at beautiful accomodations in Tamarack, Idaho, 12:10am.

It was a long journey, but a fun one.  Happy to make it here and will provide more details later.  I do have to mention that we did get to go bowling in Boise, though.  Makes the whole trip worthwhile already!!!

More tomorrow must sleep now.

Geez,  can't believe how quickly time is flying.  Now that I'm in the middle of 5 assignments and with exmas looming over my shoulder it has become apparently clear that as soon as its all over I only have 5 days to leave.  Good thing I have a crap load of savings as accomodation is turning out to be not as easy as I had originally anticipated.  Oh well maybe I'll blow all my cash and rent an appartment, live it up.  So its down to 7 weeks and while its exciting there's soooooo much to be done before hand.  So back to it then I go with a smile on my face.

So yesterday after my last class, i jumped on the school computer to check my school email, then i had to check my regular one... and there it was.. the email I had been waiting all week for.

I got a job in Whistler!!!  I will be the Food and Transportation Supervisor for the ESL summer camp.  Now what kind of qualifications do I have for this.. well, none actually. But the job I had interviewed for was a shorter term (by 2 weeks) and less than half the pay.  When I asked them why they gave me this job, they said it was because i told them the other one didn't pay as much and I was a little leary of taking it cause I have to pay for my flight, etc.  So they gave me this one because they really think i'll be an asset to their staff! It's also a live in position, so no need to get all stressed about finding a place to stay!

I'll be flying into Vancouver on July 3rd, and heading staight up to Whistler to get used to the accomodations and camp there, then back down to Vancover and the UBC camp where I will job shadow for a bit to get to know what the hell I'm doing, then a week of training, then up to Whistler July 16th until the 21st of August to help run camps there.

My main goal while i'm working there for the summer is to find myself a job for the winter.  Hopefully I can get in at the school there, but I know that's a far stretch!  So maybe i can at least be a supply teacher and work at a hotel or something on the side.  I'm already looking into other jobs and places to stay. Thank you to everyone on here who had been so helpful with helping me sort out things for the winter!! I heart you all!!

This is super last minute, but I'm heading to Jay Peak Resort in Vermont tonight and shredding all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday! A friend of mine had someone in his group decide to drop out and sell his spot on the bus to me for 100$, when he paid 400$!!! So I'm paying next to nothing for a bus ride there and back, 3 days lift tickets, and accomodations! How f*cking rad is that?
So no Juicy Fruiting for me this weekend, no birthday kegger for Rob, and no PBRJ @ Blue even though I was really looking forward to it. BUT I'd much rather shred in Vermont where they get pooploads of snow, especially for so damned cheap!
Anyway kids, have fun in Onterrible this weekend! muahaha.....

Whistler, Could it get any better than this? After seven months of living in beautiful western Canada, I have realized that this is where I can spend the rest of my years.

So why is it so expensive to live out here? Rent is double if not triple that of Ontario. Is it the atmosphere, the environment, the industry? Well we can definately rule out the industry since almost everything out here pays around ten bucks an hour. Would it be due to the environment or atmosphere? Maybe, but I doubt it. You can't put a price on nature. I guess offering high rent accomodations limits the population of Whistler but there must be a better reason.

Is it just cause I am broke from partying to much? That could be it!

So most people who might ever read this know Sabine and likely also know she's going to Spain this August. So since me and Ryan are supremely jealous that we have no such grandiose plans, Ryan came up with a brilliant idea yesterday: why don't we backpack Vancouver?? So we agreed on it, and so it shall be.

Stay in hostels, carry everything in our backs, pretend we're tourists (maybe I can be French? I can speak French for a few days). I'm in charge of activities and transportation, he's in charge of accomodations. We're not allowed to use our cars, it's entirely transit for us, and we'll have to visit Abbotsford or something just to add to the level of difficulty. And were working out a whole bunch of other rules to ensure that we're like real tourists. I can't wait!!

Gosh, I had to get up so early at 7.30 am. I'm not used to it - I'm a student. LOL. Lectures have been pretty interesting, even though it was just macroeconomics and federal law. My english class has been ridiculous as always, but funny anywayz. Our teacher has no idea about english and he's so much into british english which leads to kinda like confrontations sometimes. Now I'm finished with school and tomorrow's a day off, which is really kewl. Dunno, what I'm gonna do this evening or tomorrow, but I'm sure there will be a kewl party or whatever...

Oh, I received a way kewl postcard from Hawaii today, which made me smile. Thx Skip I'll c ya soon.

Finally I found accomodation in Austria. I'll go snowboarding there in the end of december, so I'll be celebrating new year's eve in Austria, too. Yippppieeeh.

IT'S SO MUCH BETTER TO BE A CORE MEMBER, COZ YOU DON'T HAVE THOSE FUCKIN POP-UP ADS ANYMORE.

WOW!

Just got back from going to Whistler for the weekend, gotta tell you it was sick! Over a meter of snow in a few days, and even though the alpine lifts didn't open until yesterday it was rad. My brother and I were the first people on Whistler to get to the alpine in 4 days, we were the first 2 people up the t-bars and it was crazy. there were about 500 people in the peak chair lift line watching us as we came down headwall. Super fun.

Other than that it was a good weekend, went out hard on friday night, started at merlins and went downhill from there. Too bad for Geoff though, he got a nice nights accomodation care of the whistler rcmp. Anyway hope everyone else had a good weekend too.
