CELSIUS is once again a proud sponsor of MDP's "We're PEOPLE Too", the latest installment in the PEOPLE series. This flick features CELSIUS riders Jon Kooley and Jordan Mendenhall. PEOPLE Seth Houth also filmed with the MDP folk on the "Picture This" project.

Chris Dufficy just wrapped up his part in the new WHITEOUT FILMS movie, and that film too is gonna be bananas, just ask uncle DD.

CREATIVE STAKES GET HIGHER AS 72 HOUR FILMMAKER SHOWDOWN OFFERS $2000  CASH PURSE IN ADDITION TO PRIZE HAUL

Registration underway for TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s film-making sprint.

Film-making becomes an athletic endeavour at Whistler’s annual 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown. The competition, an integral part of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s line-up, challenges artists to perform feats of speed, endurance and precision, with the call to shoot, edit and produce a 3-5 minute digital film set within a 100km radius of Whistler in the space of 72 hours.

The 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown traditionally spawns a concentrated burst of creative energy in Whistler. The Muses descend en masse, as 100 filmmaking teams are loosed on the resort and are given free range to blow the budget, burn the midnight oil and storm the house to meet a deadline.

The Gala screening of finalists is the hottest ticket in town, packing the 2000 seat Conference Centre.  Even the unsanctioned Second Cuts screenings sell out. Previous winners have also received significant exposure, including screenings for the Directors Guild of Canada, at the 2003 Squaw Valley Film Festival, and the 2003 World of Comedy International Film Festival in Toronto. Winners from the 5 previous years of the competition can be viewed at www.whistler2007.com.

The winner of the 2007 Best in Show award will pick up $15,000 in prizes including a $2000 cash purse.

The call for participants is now underway, open to anyone who loves to make films - amateurs and professionals, teams or individuals. Teams from California, Montreal, Vancouver and Whistler have already lodged early submissions.  Festival Production Coordinator Lilli Clark says, “The profile of 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown is growing, and it’s earning a reputation globally as a quality film-making event, with professionals and industry-insiders from across the country lining up to take part.”

The exposure for the film-makers is more than just to a packed house at the Gala screening, but will put their work before an A-list panel of reviewers and judges from within the Canadian film industry.

Industry luminaries including Leo nominated writer and director Tara Hungerford; the film, TV and theatre producer who is also behind the monthly Celluloid Social Club, Paul Armstrong; Anthony Vitale from WhiteOut Films and Zaib Shaikh of Little Mosque on the Prairie fame will sit on the review panel to choose the finalists.

Due to the popularity of the Filmmaker Showdown, advance registration is highly recommended. Entries may still be accepted, but not guaranteed, at a meeting required for all participants at the TELUS Conference Centre on Friday April 14 at 9am in Whistler. The deadline for guaranteed entry is April 3rd. The competition begins following the meeting at 10am. You can register your intent to participate and read up about all the filming details at www.whistler2007.com/film/entry.

Today’s lil blog may surprise you a little bit, but photos don’t lie. When you think about the Finns, you usually think that after shredding it up all day, it is party time all night. Well, you are wrong my friend. These guys are little entrepreneurs, whether it is in the car, on the couch or even traveling to major financial and business destinations around the world. Check out the look in Backstrom’s eyes, he is one focused businessman. Next , check out EEro, and although he is in the middle of partying, he still has time to call his broker in LA and buy and sell some more stocks. IIkka and EEro recently made a quick stop in New York to look over their portfolios and investments, which are indeed strong to quite strong.

What !can I say about this guy, I think 2 words really sum this guy up. Powder Monkey! His name might as well be IIkka Backcountrystrom since he loves it up in squamish/whistler so much. Word on the street is that he is looking for a huge Gallant-like property way up in the Squamish highlands as we speak. This guy won’t stop talking about four wheelers, Squamish nightlife, getting a husky, … he just loves it out here. Right when Iikka got to town, I got to shoot some lifestyle stuff with him, and boy did our little shoot work out well. The first shot is of Iikka making a little breaky, and boy are those eggs cooked perfectly. Sunny side up baby! Next, the shoot moved on to the the living room, where I-man got down to a little biz. Mostly I-chat, but still business. He then help me look for one of my missing couch pillows, but no luck. Rencz and J-bone are still my number one suspects in this case. Anyways, Iikka is pretty hyped these days since signing on with DC. He will be shredding a bunch up here in the BC backcountryfor Whiteout and down at the Mountain Lab for the DC video aswell. We are pumped to welcome him, Devun and Lauri back to the crew for 07. Good luck with the property hunting I-man!!

After a year off doing the Forum movie, we are super psyched to welcome IIkka back to the crew. Along with Iikka, we are also going to be filming Lauri and Devun. I found this sweet photo from one of the Japan slopestyle trips a few years back. Make sure you all check out the wildcats site that is now up at www.the-wildcats.com and read JF's writing, it is a treat.

One last shredding photo from Eero down in Cali this fall. He can really shred it up out there. We will be finalizing our new Whiteout Crew here shortly and have some sweet new riders joining the crew. Eero just headed back to Finland for the Holidays and will be back to shred it up in Whistler in January, which just got 60 cms overnight. Yeooooowwww!!!

As we are moving into the season, we realized we were pretty under-staffed here at whiteout. We asked Marty to take a pay cut so we could bring in some interns to help us. I have been so busy with the blog that no one has answered the phones, collected faxes, cleaned the laboratory, etc.. I chatted with Rencz and EEro and they had just gone to a big fashion show down in LA and had mentioned a lot of the girls were really unhappy with their current modeling jobs and were trying to find a way to break into the snowboard film industry.
After a fews meetings and interviews, we have hired on three new ladies. They are on strict probation and will watched closely by everyone here, especially Marty. Since we have only previously hired filmers, editors, and scientists here at Whiteout, the work atmosphere around here is surprisingly cheery since the new hirings. We'll keep you posted on all new staff changes, and are really taking a chance on these girls. But hey, its the holidays!!

So far, the submissions for the best party of all time have been pretty weak. This very well could be one of the best potential party nights of your life, and it seems that we have a leader so far. Big Mike sent us over a few photos, and it looks like I may have to plan a scouting trip to this spot and make sure it is as good as it looks. Safety does appear to be a concern here, as a few of the Wildcats may have to brush up on their swimming lessons and the rule of no swimming for 45 minutes after eating will be strictly enforced. Eero and Mikey have been to this spot and have agreed that we could have a sweet time here, although Eero warns everyone of diving into the shallow end after a couple of Coronas.
7 staples for lil EEro.

It seems that a lot of people were pretty intimidated by the Mikey and Eero photo that I posted from a couple days back and were worried these two would be causing problems at the best contest ever. I can confirm that they will be well behaved and have included the below photo to show that they have mellowed out a bit.

I have consulted with K-man and our in-house scientist Marty and we have concluded that the ones to watch out for would be Devun and JF, shown here up at Mt Seymour. These 2 guys are pretty small little guys that pack a mean party punch. We all agree that JF will be shirtless within the first hour of the party and that Devun will be egging him on to do something unclassy. These 2 guys have been spending a lot of time together re-structuring Wildcats clothing and can be a pretty dangerous party duo like we saw in Munich this year. You can refer to one of K-man's previous blogs on IS Design's site to see specifics. These 2 can also snap a mean wildcat on the slopes, and can see this evidence in the upcoming Big Bastards movie.

Lastly, I have been told that I cannot bring my party partner JP Pelchat to the best contest ever party. JF and JP have not been getting along that well lately since JF has been very successful with his snowboard career while JP has achieved success only at the local watering hole. As such, I have been hanging and riding a lot with JP and am absolutely positive he did not punch out that waitress for serving him cold poutine. He may have slightly pushed her, but the charges should definitely be dropped. Sorry JP, but as soon as you trim up that beard and clean up your legals woes, we'll make sure you can roll with us again.

Whiteout is really psyched to welcome Dufficy back to the crew this year. Duff has had some injuries that have put him on the sideline the last little while but it is clear from last nights antics that he is more than good to go. Duff is straight up gnarly, and extremely motivated so watch yourself. He has been eyeing up a few ridiculous things he wants to film and last night he shut it down. Two tries, doggy! Below is a photo of Duff checking the shot with Curley, a photographer up from the US of A. Next we have Duff celebrating with the K-man. K-man looks extra happy, probably with a little help from the 8 pack of golden throat charmers we drank while we were there. (Scientific fact- Duff has 10 more teeth than any other human ) These little missions can get pretty hectic, but are more than worth it when it all comes together. Duff has officially kicked off the season with a, how do you say, banger!

There has been a lot of concern about the party for the Best Contest Ever getting a little out of control. We have already received millions of calls and emails worried that JP Pelchat, JF's brother from Sherbrooke, will be showing up and crashing the party. We have asked JF to sit him down and have a serious chat with him. Below is a picture of JF giving JP a little pep talk about party etiquette, beard trimming and just how to keep a more positive attitude in general. Turns out JP has a little court date back home so we can all breathe a sigh of relief. JF however will be at the best party ever, and will be bringing along Gaetan, Eero, Paavo, Devun,Browner, Kale, K-man, J-Bone, Reno B, Benji, Renczy, Duff, Jake the Bottle, Dirty Pete, Twon, Dominic...the list goes on. There has even been talk of us renting one of those hut-tub party buses to get there, but it all depends on how far we have to travel. Everyone is pretty hyped on this contest and is ready to go so make sure you have a good spot planned out. Kale has requested a worldly cheese plate would be key upon arrival at the party.

Best Contest Of All Time
Ok, pretty excited over here about this new contest. Kman and I came up with an awesome contest that we are ready to get going. We have had a few contests so far on the blog, and it looks like Jonathan_K at snowboard.com took home best hairdo. Email me your address and I will send some prizes out, my lil friend.
Anyways, here we go with the best contest of all time. We want you to see who can host the best party ever, and in return all of the Wildcats and their close party associates will come to your mansion/house/castle and party our socks off. The party will be filmed and featured in the new Wildcat and IS design movie entitled Big Bastards due out next fall.
What we need from you is photos and submissions of the actual party atmosphere including party location and details. We need to see who indeed we will be partying with and how the party will unfold. It should be noted that we are all partial to Hot Tubs, Bikinis, Foosball tables, Coldies and Kegs which can easily sway our votes. Please email location photos and partying resumes to contact@whiteout-films.com aswell as info@isdsgn.com and we will forward them to all the shredders and see what they think.
Here are a couple serious partiers wondering where the best party of all time is going to be held.

Here is an idea of a location that we would entertain partying at.

WOBlog: Classy
By: whiteoutfilms

Seems like the blog has been a little rough around the edges over the past few days. There have been some pretty unclassy posts lately with photos of dudes with shi*tty haircuts, people getting dusty and holding beer cans so I thought I would post some classy photos to get back on track. When you think classy, probably the classiest thing you can do is get super dressed up and get married. Not many people in the Whiteout crew have done this with the exception of Shin, so I thought I would post some shots I just ran into of Devun and his new wife Julia Walsh. It is a scientific fact that Dev's wedding in Maui was top notch.
Anyways, after filming for the Forum movie and getting hitched last season, Whiteout films is super excited to welcome Mr. Walsh back to the crew. It is going to be scary to see what kind of footage we are going to end up getting when you think of Tadashi, Renczy, Eero and the rest of the shredders getting to ride with Devun again. As you probably saw in the Forum video, Devun hit some pretty huge jumps and has even scoped a bunch of new ones he is psyched on hitting up in 07. I am going to end this post with one last classy bit of info about mr. Devun Walsh. He has a hole-in-one on a 186 yard par 3 at Northlands Golf course. I, on the other hand, do not.

Here are a couple more photos from some of the riders from this fall. In the first one we have Lauri asking Eero if he can stay at 8 mile this winter. Eero had to explain to Lauri that you have to be under 5 feet tall to even fit in the bunk beds, but if they do the renovations that Browner suggested about filling the living room with 3 more sets of regular bunk beds, he can stay for sure.

The second shot is Kale ripping it up down in SD. You would think he is pointing at the photographer in this shot but has instead spotted a huge block of Jalapeno Havarti Cheese at a nearby picnic that he wants to take down.

Tadashi Fuse "Powder & Tree's" remix

The other day someone called me out saying "Slideshows are poor substitutes for video" and it made me realize that I haven't posted any video clips for a long long time. I felt so bad about this that I called up Tadashi and asked him if we could go film for a couple hours on Friday. He said he'd only film if it involved powder & tree's. Lucky for us there's a bunch of both up in the Mountains these days. This is what we got.

If you think that's good you should peep his part in Whiteout's "Wear it Well" www.whiteout-films.com, it will make you feel like a real jerk....
