This month kicked off with some awesome snow and cold winter conditions. We had some excellent fresh powder riding for April fools day thanks to some short hikes into the high alpine. We are currently in the middle of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival here in Whistler which means lots of free bands in the village and world class snowboard competitions.

Local Camp News

At camp things are starting to slow down a little with only onr more week of programs for the winter calendar. That doesn't mean that we are slowing down as we are busy preparing for summer with our new NZ trip (Which is happening in September) as well as summer camp training in June and July. If you are keen to come out to Whistler the you can now book for new winter for our freestyle and freeride snowboard instructor training. If you would like to come to NZ you can check out the information on-line at

Cooler Magazine

Keep an eye out for Cooler Magazine on the shelves at your local news agent. Cherry from http://www.coolermag.com was just out at camp three weeks ago to check us out and write a story about our programs. They are a womens snow, surf and lifestyle magazine out of Europe which is an alternative lifestyle haven for young women.

Camper News

Our most recent Level 1 and 2 candidates all dominated their exams with above standard being a common thread for many of the results sheets. We had a huge party at the end of March with many of the long term campers finishing up for the winter. Most of the crew have decided to stay in town and ride until the end of the April and make the most of the excellent snow conditions.

Coach News

A couple of weekends ago the Canadian Nationals half pipe competition was on down in Vancouver at Cypress Mountain. Crispin, Ryan and Neil all went down for the event and came 4th, 6th and 9th. Katie went down to represent the women and came 12th. In other coach news Dylan is still slaving away on the house he is building down in Squamish and is planning on heading east for the summer to build log homes. Duncan was in Toronto with his girlfriend and jsut got back. Lisa and Luke are planning on heading down to Mt Buller in Australia for the summer snow sliding season and Ants L is hanging in Whistler for the summer and playing golf.

Skiing and riding on Whistler Mountain will continue until April 20th. Spring skiing then continues on Blackcomb Mountain from Monday, April 21 through to Sunday, June 8th. After that the Blackcomb glacier is open for summer snow sports.

The resort currently has a snow base of 265cm and will have 3,000 to 2,500 acres remaining open for May and the first week of June.

The snow keeps falling here in Whistler. We now have had 29 feet of snow that has fallen so far this year and over 3 months left of the ski season. We are offering training all the way until the end of April for our groups and custom training into May. We are busy planning our 'World Trips' and the NZ Trip for September is up on the web site if you would like to come.

Over the past month we have had loads going on.

We successfully completed our second road trip for the season down to Mt Baker with our 12 week campers and were met with fantastic conditions. It was quite the adventure as I found out that my wife Karen was going into labour just as we were putting in our first powder runs of the day at Mt Baker. The day was a real blast for me. We shredded powder all morning with sunny skies and then rallied back to Vancouver to make it just in time for Baylee to be born - you really can't beat that for a day to remember. Check out www.pro-ride.com/diary.cfm for the pictures of the day.

Instructor Results

We have had excellent results from our Level 2 crew who did their exams and a couple of them who wanted to work have already been hooked up with employment with Whistler Blackcomb for the remainder of the season. A good friend of ours who does the hiring for the school came by the camp house and chatted with the crew about how to gain employment with the mountain and at the end of his session offered work to the people who were interested.

Jump Day

We have a backcountry style jump day planned for Friday which should be a blast. We have snow forecasted all the way to Friday which is going to make for super soft landings. As a bonus, Cooler - European Women's Life Style Magazine will be on hand to document the activities. Jump day just happens to correspond with one of the campers birthdays so it is going to be quite an affair.

Competition News

Lots of great results this month from the crew. Ryan Rausch has been travelling the globe and is dominating as usual. Crispin Lipscomb was in Italy for the World Cup Half Pipe and took the win for Canada. This is only a week after winning the Showcase Showdown. The boy is on fire!

Next Years Programs

All of next years pricing and dates are up on the web site so now is a great time to secure your place for the long term programs. We have already had quite a few bookings so if you are keen please drop us a line to let us know. You can register at www.pro-ride.com/register0809.cfm - all of this years long term programs sold out and we are again limiting the numbers for next year to guarantee the best training available world wide.

This Seasons Programs

We now have a few places remaining for 1,2 and 4 weeks starting from March 22nd and 29th if you are keen to come out and ride. (Our group training sessions will run all the way until the end of April.) The conditions are excellent and we have loads of snow to get us through to the summer. The World Ski and Snowboard Festival is on again April 11 - 20 so this is a great time to come out. Check out http://whistler.mtv.ca/ - there will be 50 free live concerts, big air snowboard competition, arts events, endless night life and the best spring riding in the world. You can register on-line at www.pro-ride.com/register.cfm This will be your last chance for the season to gain your instructor certification, fine turn your freeriding skills or get your park shred on with the Pro Ride coaches.

Hello Snowboard people, sorry for not postig blogs for so long but as I told you in the last blog my computer was broken and with all the pictures on my harddrive it was difficult for me. But all problems are solved and now I am back blogging. I wanna continue my last blog which one I wrote during my New Zealnd trip. The last week in New Zealnd which was in the beginning of  September was really fun at the end. As I told you we where skydiving and playing Tennis besides our Snowboard activities. As soon as Fischi the publisher, photogrpher and Photo Editor of Pleasure Snowboard arrived in Wanaka we spent all day with him shooting or in his house own hottub on the mountian. Snowboarding wasn’t too good in the last week according to the very strong wind and clouds. Since I am home in Germany, I haven’t done so much snowboarding so far. My last year school started pretty soon, which I take a little bit more serious  now;) And I am more focused on the beginning of the school year so that I can go snowboarding when the season starts. But on the last weekends beside school I had a lot of other fun stuff to do, I spent more time with my family whom I barely see during the season. And one evening I have been on a concert in munich with my friends Vince, Marco, Christian and Christophe given by the famous Indy Rock Band „Shout out Louds“ which was amazeing. Very great live act! Another day I have been surfing again with Marco & Christophe on Eisbach in Munich. Which was pretty cold according to the season but still fun. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
PhotobucketPic Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
Photobucket Another weekend I have been to Wiesn, Oktoberfest in Munich with my brother Fips, Marco, Peter and Rene. It was my first time at Oktoberfest which is pretty ashamed for an Bavarian like me. But it was so much fun, all it is about is actually wearing traditional Bavarian clothes, drinking Beer out of 1 Liter cans, eating grilled chicken and singing and shouting... sound crazy but after a few beers it’s the biggest fun ever. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
Photobucket                                                      Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
Photobucket The next day after Wiesn was the day ofour world movie Premiere for Isensevens Übermovie which was very important for Alex, Vincent and the whole crew because it ist he result of our main project we spent so much time for last season. But lot of people came, the movie was great, the croud shouted and weh ad a lot of fun at the after party. A few days later there were 2 other Premiers already in Ulm and Innsbruck which were very sucessful too. But our movie tour is still going on in Germany and other countries like Norway, USA, Canada and more so maybe we are coming to your area too just check www.iseseven.de if you don’t wanna miss a great party. Another thing which I am kinda prroud of, I got my first cover in the new Oktober Issue of Whitelines Snowboard Magazine. I made this picture with Marcel Lämmerhirth in Kaunertal last spring/summer. The Snow was already gone in this area but we found this nice drop spot, with a can of snow and this piece of wood in the landing and a little bit creativity we got the shot. I am stoked! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
Photobucket Last weekend after the Premiere in Innsbruck, I went fishing with my brither Fips and my friend Andi which was so nice, like back to the child days. It was a little cold but we where successful. Everybody of us catched at least one Fish, mine weight already 1 kilo. Check it out. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at
Photobucket After fishing I went to Hintertux and Kaunertal in my October vacations for snowboarding which was pretty nice, a little bit icy but cool. Althought it snowed at home already. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at

Hey to everyone and anyone who actually reads this stuff!
Thought i better find the time to update my snowboard.com/colonies.com account, seem to use this site less and less after most of my kiwi friends are bebo.com addicts, and i mean ADDICTS! lol.

New Zealand Winter was a short one this season, which was gutting! got a heap of riding in tho ... 1 week up at coronet peak in queenstown, which was amazing, learnt a heap riding up there. First jump of the season I unfortunetly landed on my face, slitting my lip/biting my lip, and grazing my chin - got some worried looks round the cafe at lunch. Went on a few school trips lending a hand with the younger OE classes so they cud pass there snowboarding certificates! which was mint, gave a few of the younger boys a run for there money...god that felt good. And seeing as i had a pass for cardrona - in wanaka, me and a few buddies got up the mt every friday/sunday if we cud, which rocked! we were going atleast once a week, as well as school and work - tryna keep the petrol fund going! shame the season didnt get a kick start like last year, but still an amazing new zealand boarding season got a heap of photos which i will post later!

So ...What else have i been up to...
Moved to Dunedin, new zealand (south island), 2hours away from my home town, and 3 hours away from my home mt *tear*. Moved with my parents, leaving my older bro back home. Studying down here next year maybe...still tossing up going over seas and catching up with the gang! but we'll see. Been drinking way 2 much, partying way 2 much, im surprised i dont have a booze gutt yet...(touch wood) I enjoy the old wine bong - getting messy IS the key! Give me a message, and dont be shy! miss all the snowboard.com regs! Sorry ive been slack on this, i promise ill get my arse into gear!

Love the one an only
Kiwi - Mel :)
p.s. Mite see u on the YOUR moutain ur this season...fingures crossed - any biatches keen? wheres everyone at this season?

Hello People, Sorry this is a very late blog I wrote it like one and a half months ago but according to the Snowboard.com website problems and the problems with my broken Computer I couldn’t post it earlier. Sorryy, but here it still comes. I hope you are all enjoying a good summer wherever you are. Since my last blog where I reported about my last few days in school a lot happened in my life. At first, when summer school vacation started I spent a few days at home to have time with my familie and then I went on holiday to Croatia with my girlfriend Tine and my friend and Isenseven Crewmate Peter König. We had a pretty good time there, a lot of sun, good food, snorkling or just enjoying in the sun to get some Energy for our snowboard trip to New Zealand one week later. Here a few pictures I made in Croatia with my new cellphone Nokia N95 which O2 offered me to picture my trips. Peter and me... rollin Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Ocean Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Peter Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Porec Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Love Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket After Croatia I had just 2 days back at home to get my stuff done and pack my luggage for New Zealand. Then I went to Munich for my first real Concert in the famous „Atomic Cafe“ Bar, the Band was called „Voxtrot“ from Texas United States and it was just amazeing to watch them playing the tunes. Then the last day before our Flight left, I went surfing with Marco Smolla at the „Eisbach“ river in the centre of Munich. So much fun, there is a big Wave in the middle of the city. It was pretty hard for me the first time but it was real fun. At the next morning, Marco Smolla, Andre Kuhlmann, Peter König and me checked in at Munich Airport. After our last Weißbier and Weißwurst at the Airport Restaurant, we entered our Airplane and left Bavaria. On our trip we stopped at 4 different Airports and one gas station to get to our final destination. According to this 2 day long journey we where pretty excited to move our sore bodies and go Snowboarding. Thanks to Marco and Jorma, that they managed everything about the house and rental car before we got here. The mountain where we always ride here is called Snowpark, it’s one hill consisting of one huge Snowboard Park. With a Superpipe, Quarterpipe, a bigger Jump Line and 2 smaller jib lines on each side with different Obstacles, boxes, rails and smaller jumps. Riding there in summer to work on your snowboard skills for the season without any preasure. Snowpark Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket We are here for a peride of three weeks. From now on we have one week left. One day we made a trip to the Western Coast of the country which was very exciting, we had barbecue on the beach with our friends from Switzerland and got a view of New Zealand great Landscape. We went skydiving in the morning with our friend Elias Elhardt which was propably the crazyest feeling I ever had, jumping out of a plane in 3500 meter high. After that we played some Golf to relax after this crazy jump. And in the Evening we played some Tennis. This was my favourite day of this trip so far. Fischi the Phographer and Photo Editor from Pleasure Snowboard Magazin just arrived today. So we will focus the next days shooting with him to get some snowboard photos. Wanaka update; soo big news! I scored a job! which is incredably difficult in this town at this time of year so im stoked, even if im just a kitchen bitch.. I work at a nice cafe/bar with a bunch of hot waitresses lol. Besides that my "sober nights" tally is at this point still standing at 1, people have been telling me I have problems... im starting to believe them, orthough its undoubtably because Wanaka has a mysterious aura about it and it would be offensive to the higher powers if I did enjoy myself...

my 3rd back-to-back winter is almost over, and it looks like i'm going to embark on a 4th!
i'm making plans to spend my summer in australia, with my boyfriend Matty, at Falls Creek Resort.
it's not exactly NZ, but it will be rad nevertheless. I may even make a trip over to wanaka while im there, at the end of the season or something. i cant be THAT close to wanaka and NOT go, it's such an awesome place!

and i think my season might be over early cause i decked a huge jump at national @ COP on the weekend. it didnt hurt at the time, but the other day i felt my lower back hurting. turns out i pulled some muscles in my lower back and it definitely hurts to ride. guess i cant work either (damn eh haha). as long as i get to ride whistler during the telus fest im happy!

and im heading home to ontario at the end of April, road trippin' it with my Dad!
peace and <3

After a fun season riding in wanaka i'm left wanting more, now i'm all excited and am off to europe in search of more snow.
i've spent the last few weeks sending emails all over austria trying to find a resort that would take me on and this week a positive reply came from sölden. its actually a pretty massive resort hidden away in western austria and quite a party town, last time i was there was 2 years ago on my first tour around europe, spent a week in the village went up to the glacier once but didn't do any riding! shame on me! i did however do Alot of drinking and partying, so easy to get drawn into the apres ski thing and drink til near death, so hopefully in the 6 months i'll be there i'll knock out some runs and hopefully visit all the wanaka crew spread in the area, definatly goin to go to maryhofen, st anton, ahh i'll be here for hours listing all the resorts i'd like to visit, anyway back to the present and its heating up in wanaka, working my ass of trying to get some more cash together, easy to do now that town has emptied out and the motivation to party has gone with it, and look foward to fun times traveling around.
