Hey ya little web freaks! So Logan and I were planning on going
snowmobiling with our filmer Morgan Rice. Morgan and I met up in the
Brandywine parking lot and Logan is such an idiot...he went to the wrong
snowmobile spot and he never found us. We were forced to go along
without him. We went up to a spot called Metal Dome that is past the
Brandywine cabin. We met up with the Whistler Valley Snowboard Club
crew and had a cat to build us a big booter. In the morning we just
hit some natural lines and in the afternoon we hit the jump. The day
was a beauty and it was tons of fun. Everytime you go snowmobiling
someones sled mess's up or someone gets really stuck. You can see in
the photo that Dan (WVSC coach) rode over a roll to find a creek bed.
He buried his snowmobile nose end first and fell flat on his face.
Luckily he was not hurt and we were able to get is sled out pretty
easily. Hopefully Logan is not lost somewhere on his snowmobile right
now. I'll let you know.

The Whistler Valley Snowboard Club (WVSC) is Whistler Blackcomb high-end freestyle snowboard program that encourage both competition and recreational riders to fully meet their potential. Designed to provide Whistler & Vancouver kids with snowboard instruction all day, every Saturday and Sunday, the WVSC can coach snowboarders ages 9 and up.

New this year, the WVSC is launching the Whistler Valley Snowboard Academy (WVSA). Located in the heart of Whistler, The Academy is prepared to accommodate co-ed students/athletes (single and shared rooms are available) that register into one of its Snowboard Programs. Two well/balanced meals plus healthy snacks are included and a kitchen is available at any time. Wireless internet is available and a guardian will always be present to assist in any situation.

As part of the snowboard programs, members will have the opportunity to snowboard some of the most incredible terrain in North America. Competitive members will have the opportunity to travel to different mountains throughout the season for Half-pipe, Big Air, Rail Jam, and Boardercross competitions.

WVSA’s Sports School Programs allow high school students who breathe, eat, and sleep snowboarding to train on snow up to five days a week, while earning school credits through Whistler Secondary Sports School, or another accredited system. Students enrolling into the Full Year or Winter Term Programs will have the opportunity to stay at The Academy, while local students already living in Whistler will have the opportunity, through the Local Program, to get the coaching and snowboard 100+ days on Whistler Blackcomb Mountains without necessarily staying at The Academy.

Depending on how many students enroll the WVSA’s Sports School Programs with accommodation; Weekend Packages will be available for kids interested in getting weekend coaching and staying at The Academy. Drop-ins are also accepted for the WVSC coaching programs (including Xmas & Spring Break Camps), but accommodation will be limited.

Also new this year is the addition of a Boardercross Package for adults (18+). Under the coaching guidance of Darren Chalmers, Canadian Olympic Snowboarder and 3 times World Cup winner, this package is focused on competitive boardercross training.

The WVSA will be the first of its kind in Canada with its first session will take place this winter season (2006-2007). Led by Joe McAdoo, the coaching programs will encourage hard work, self-discipline and dedication, providing a solid foundation for success in every aspect of life. Joe is a former national/international competitor. Joe moved on to Assistant Coach for the Canadian Snowboard Federation Halfpipe Team, followed by Head Coach of the National Development Team.

The WVSC & WVSA are now accepting applications. Space is limited so call now to register: 604-932-2092

alright well this is my first ever blog so don't be critical...

so anyways me and my friend jared braverman (canadian1st or something like that) went up with wvsc to ride in the coc park (which was pretty freaking smurftastic!!).
first day we all met in the morning it was me, him, joe, rob, oli, gage, brian, hajime, and little shredder trevor (that almost rhymes) and then henry and his friend zander joined us at lunch. ya it was a pretty sweet first day we got to try all the different hits and jibs...some memorable stuff were the 40ft boxes, the 32x16ft nomis dancefloor box, that down flat, and also that weird flat down at the bottom....pretty sick park if u ask me. later that day me and jared got to chill in the village for some zogs for dinner (jared ate a whole 20 piece mcnugget meal, pussing lip and all)... i speant about 3 and a half hours of some h-core tech-decking, challenging all of the random guys who came in and out of showcase (its true ask jared he wanted to leave after 15 minutes or morgan who was working at the time)...ya on the second day we met...i was a bit less tired...and we went up with the same crew (with the exception of hajime because he hurt his back? and henry and zander who had to peace it back to the city) and then jared had a wicked sunburn, so bad that his lips started pussing (EEEEEEWWWWWWWW) and we got to head up fairly early. in the morning before we headed up, rob was nice enough to bring everyone some pretty cool little sticker packs. unfornutaely in the afternoon jared pulled a knot in his lower back so he had to take it easy for the afternoon...we all pretty much chilled in the side handrail section. they had a really nice green shotgun rail sloped down a bit which i really wanted to hit but i never got a chance... o well, atleast i hit it during the season (its the same shotgun that was set up in the whistler park with the step up to the flat pad to the rail...)
so anyways on the third day we met in the morning again but this time, there was no oli! instead morgan came up and then we got to meet a pretty sweet guy named rusty and i got to interview him on the three chairs and the bus and we saw some cool animals(a bear by the pipe, a deer droppin a deuce and then a little gopher guy just chillin while we were on the bus) and he was also pretty freaking amazing hes gonna also give me his free nomis xxl hoodie and his '07 carty bindings. we're currently bff's so yai'm pretty sure i like him ALMOST as much as tom!(not quite as much, toms something else!) ya we switched gloves for a while, kuz hes such a nice guy. unfortunately i had to leave at like 11.30 to make it home so i never had a chance to showcase my cab 9s to rusty and throw down a train behind him when he pulls off his 270 on to switch-up 180 to nose slide to back 270 off on the fatty 40 footer boxes...and first hit at that...wow that guys a god. o and also watching him pull of 1440 spins on the big nomis box.... wow...speechless......
it was also hella tight to be able to check out all the pros there like tj shneider and dennis bannock doing some crazy stuff like handplants on the tall and narrow wall ride...pretty crazy...anyways it took like an hour and a half to write this so i'm gonna peace it soon...just wish me luck for my first ever tech deck comp at showcase soon! i'm so good w/e but i'll have to catch up with u later....

[maybe my next blog will be about the td comp!!!]

peace!
