My Journal: I'm still alive!!!
By: teggers

In my usual way of being really bad at updating things, I thought I'd just post a little note up here to let all you good people know I'm still about!

Still snowboarding too - Off again in January for a couple of weeks hopefully. Unfortunately my seasonaire days appear to be over but I really wish I could do a few more but its just not financially viable now :(

In other news, I'm still manager of a mobile phone shop, bought another new car (another Nissan 200sx) and still with Bex (4 1/2 years now!)

I will try to remember to check on here more often so drop me a message! Or email me on teggersmsn@hotmail.co.uk

Have fun everyone!

The final day of snowboarding at Stylewars was held under perfect Australian skies without a breath of wind.

The riding standard was beyond ridiculous, the course was softening in the hot sun and tricks were getting thrown that have never before been seen on snow down under.

Leading the charge today was a man on a mission, last year’s grand master Torstein Horgmo (NOR) who was sending massive smooth tricks with rarely a hand out of place. He took out best trick with an insane switch backside 1260 melon deep into the landing of the first jump.

“I wanted to try the 12 and I got it around so I was pretty happy about that and I got the front ten a lot better and a few mellow fives. The jumps just got better and better everyday… everyone was killing it, we couldn’t have had a better day.” Torstein said.

The overall winner of the event was Canadian Charles Reid who dominated for the entire three days of the gruelling event that included today. Charles fresh from winning the 28 Stair rail event presented by Volvo last night powered on today with a slew of 1080’s, rodeos and a consistent style that had him pushing out fellow Canadian Matts Kulisek for the win. Matts finished 3rd behind Torstein.

Charles rode through a bruised heel injury with only the win in mind. “My heel is alright, but it just hurts really bad when I land on it. We had 20 minutes left of the competition, it hurts so bad but I just had to keep riding.” Charles said. “Usually in a contest its spin to win but with the rider judging I’m going to vote for style for sure, Shayne Pospisil (USA) and Robbie Walker (AUS) were riding insane.”

After the riders vote was tabulated into the results Shayne Pospisil ended up 4th overall and had this to say. “The standard was so high it was motivating me to step it up and throw down. Everyone was stomping everything. For the riders vote I was looking for just who was smooth over the three days.”

Chas Guldemond after knocking himself out heavily in NZ flew into Stylewars at the last minute to compete and take 5th overall. His result moves him into first place on the overall standings of the Swatch TTR World Tour.
“It’s only the second comp of the year so I’m sure Charles Reid will be biting at my heals after this contest… I wanted to come in to Stylewars and check out the contest, slow it all down a bit and enjoy the contest and focus on my style. I’m going to take this as a good base for practice for the start of the season.”

In the coveted Bledisnow Cup competition between Australian and New Zealand, the Australian team stood strong today with incredible riding from Ryan Tiene, Robbie Walker, the Allan brothers and 15 year old Jye Kearney who was whiskers away from stomping 90-foot front ten tails. One to look out for from Down Under.

“Snowboarding is great for the Aussie scene cause we get a lot of amazing riders down here for it and get a lot of publicity out of it and more and more riders are hearing about, it’s a good thing for sure.” Ryan Tiene said.

Snowboard.com News: Stylewars 2008 - Day 2
By: Snowboard.com

Stylewars 2008 presented by Oakley.

August 24-28, 2008

Falls Creek Resort, Australia.

French Canadians Matts Kulisek and Charles Reid continue their dominance at Stylewars during day two of competition at Falls Creek Australia.

Strong winds, scattered clouds and a riders vote meant that today the Stylewars course was restricted to the bottom feature of the park – the gap jump. The jump had been re-shaped last night to give some more pop and allow the riders a little more hang time. The level of style and tricks definitely stepped up today at Stylewars with the help of the course fine-tuning from head park builders Rueben Cameron from Australia and Doug Mercer of Mammoth, California.

Matts Kulisek (CAN) was again throwing down all day with consistent incredible tricks over the gap like backside rodeo nines and frontside 1080’s. His slaying of the jump pushed him to first place today and number one in the overall standings of the three-day freestyle marathon.

Charles Reid (CAN) was bumped into 2nd position by his countryman Matts, but his slew of 1080’s, nines and smooth fives held him solidly in striking position for the win on the upcoming final day.

“Usually in a contest the guys who spin the most win, but I have been spinning some big three’s and seven’s and I was winning yesterday, so I think it’s a great comp - you don’t have to do a 1260 or something to win.” Reid said.

Tyler Chorlton (GBR) threw the most interesting trick of the day with a nollie front-flip nose grab but was not to be outdone by Kiwi Quentin Robbins who launched a one foot indy over the high-speed gap kicker.

In the hotly disputed Bledisnow Cup, which is an Australia v’s New Zealand comp within Stylewars. Australian riders took out day two, led by acting team captain Ryan Tiene and team mate Mitch Allan. New Zealand and Australia are now tied at one day each with New Zealand just ahead in the points.

Tonight at Stylewars the party continues with a special showing of Travis Rice’s new film That’s It That’s All followed by infamous Australian hip hop act Bliss&Eso who will no doubt tear the bloody roof off. Hangovers assured for all tomorrow.

The third day of Stylewars competition is planned for tomorrow, and includes the Volvo 28 Stair Rail Jam to be held in the evening under lights in Falls Creek Village.

For video highlights of yesterday go to: www.stylewars.com.au

The 2008 Stylewars is presented by Oakley and is supported by Falls Creek Resort, SilverSki Lodge, Corona, Red Bull, Volvo and New Era.

News and Stuff: Zizo=Kazu
By: GNARCOREvideoplay

kazu and beards Kazu or Zizo, Beardmore and filmer Pat Henery, just generally looking hard If your familiar with famed japanese photographer Kazu then you know how much of an enigma the guy is. His very existence is a mystical feat of nature. Kazu is now staff for Atomic Snowboards so he's been shooting with MATT BEARDMORE a ton as well as Gerg Maxwell who's in town filming for the new Alterna Film. Both Greg and Kazu have been bunking out in the famed Artbarn which has turned into an international hostel these days. The Beards has become some what of a father figure to Kazu (who i'm sure in reality is actually older then mat) and has many a fantastic stories of the little guy that range from a rare bum disease to and rolling deep into Revy's Back-country with only a single frayed snowmobile belt. Rumor has it he even got out shooting with Atomic hopeful and teen heart throb BARRY HARTMAN but the report is still out on that one. When it all comes down to it Kazu is a righteous lens man with a sweet english-canadian vocabulary and just a real treat to be around. Kazu has had multiple international snowboard magazine covers, been a model for AIR blaster, has his own T-shirt designed after him and just generally wows everyone he collides with. In a random move of role reversals i shot this sick sequence of Kazu going from photographer-dude to dude-in-a-pink-shirt-with-his-own-image-on-it, breath taking i know....and your welcome.in-truck.jpg kazu-pants.jpgkazu-hoodie.jpgkazu-hoodie.jpgkazu-hoodie.jpgPiece!

Matys na X Games

matys-on-x-games1.jpgJuż za dwa dni startują w US&A dwunaste z kolei zimowe X Games.

Well, a big thank you is over due to all the Distort Enterprises supporters over the last Southern Hemisphere season.

We where so busy over the Winter that we didn't have time to keep our blogs upto date.
We want to thank everyone that bough one of our limited edition boards. They sold quickly and as we speak the next line of limited edition boards are being manufactured and hopefully will be in some peoples christmas stocking (I hope you have big feet!).

So whats for next season?
Distort Enterprises helmets will be a new addition.
We will be investigating running some Board Tours.
We'll see if we can get some comps going with the local mountains.

We had a first for Distort Enterprises during summer in Zermatt.
Our first ever broken leg on a Distort board. How hardcore are we now??
Hopefully Phils leg gets better soon. Just in case any of you are wondering, he fell onto a metal piste marker on the glacier (snappp!).

Sales have been going well in the USA, Canada, and the UK and we have had enquiries comming in from the Asia markets to supply thousands of board to distributors. Luckily for you we want to stay limited edition, and so to keep with this ethos we will continue to only sell direct so you get the bast quality board at the best possible price. We want to continue to keep the boards at the amazing prices they are and the only way we can do this is to keep the middle man out.

Thanks to all those of you that sent us your photos of you and your Distort board.
Hopefully we will be able to use these in some way on this forum or our website.

Please feel free to email us.

And finally to those of you that are off to the Northern Hemisphere, look out for people riding Distort Enterprises and if you see someone go upto them and give them a hug and tell them its from Ben, the bloke who sold them the board.

We'll some of you might know that I've got a new job recently.  I am the the snowboardercross development coach for the GB team so this coming winter will be pretty exciting.  I'll be training and travelling all around Europe with the team to different comps.

As of the 1st of Sept I am off to Saas Fee for 2.5 weeks training.  I should be taking my laptop if I can hook up some insurance so I'll try and blog more often as well as post some piccies.

Be ready for our DVD!! 05/15/07 ハートキャンプ heart camp!! テントで初めて寝たんだけど、これがけっこう快適でした!!!It’s Hiromi!!We went winter camping from May 10th for two nights!!!!!The first day, we carried our luggage and tented, and after that we had a log session!! I was in charge of cooking the meal so I was making everyone's dinner.Everybody worked hard splitting the fire wood to make the campfire!!I never slept in a tent before but it was more comfortable than I expected!!!2日目はモービルで撮影に行くチームと、テントの近くで遊ぶアイテム作るチームと二手に分かれてそれぞれ夜のセッションに向けて、アイテム作りをがんばってました。 。。。。。。アキ君ホントにごめんなさい!!!!!!!!!!!On the second day, we split up into two teams. One went shooting by sled and the other made some items for the night session near the tents.I was in the team that went shooting and I was so excited about riding a sled for the first time. I wanted to see the view from the mountain so I went up a little by myself. The scenery was so beautiful and it really got me.Then the accident happened!!!!!Aki’s sled was burning...............OH! MY! GOD!!! I turned off the engine right away and put snow on the fire again and again. After the fire went dead, I made a mad dash to get to everybody!!!!!I was so panicked that I didn’t understand what the hell was going on!!!I told everybody about the fire with sweat all over me, and Tadashi and some friends went to rescue the sled. The cause of the fire was that I didn’t unlock the brake lock.I burned Aki’s new sled in my first experience of riding a sled... Aki, I’m so sorry about that. The night session was so exciting!!!We took great photos and videos. In Canada, the shopping cart is super big but our grocery shop was so much that it was spilling out from our big cart!!!When we were at the cashier, children crowed around us. The cashier gave us a surprised look and asked “what will you do with all this food?!”, and I said “We are going to have a 2-day BBQ on the mountain!!!”. As soon as I said that the children were so excited!!! At the house, we had to separate the 2-day’s groceries and cut all of the veggies and meats. This work was sooooooo hard!!!2 day’s food for 15 people...can you imagine how much food we had to precook?????I really thought that the school lunch ladies didn't do much!! And the result is............we found nothing. Is there any huge pans like in Japan?????I will go buy some food for 15people!!!15 people! How much food will that be?! 移動中の車の中で、最近20$でゲットしたサングラスを付けて、いきがってるヒロミ(笑)Hiromi got carried away with her sun glasses which she got for $20. 。。。。。。Hey, everybody! Look at our feet on the above photo!!!Keiji is cheating to show us that he is taller than me!!!But still our height is similar despite his effort. Way too much bad weather! It’s Koni! This is a photo of Shota.Today was cloudy and on the mountain was foggy, but I went riding to Blackcomb with Shota and Kosuke. The parking lot was engulfed in fog, but as we got up through the gondola and up the 1st lift and 2nd lift the fog was gone, but it was still cloudy. Despite being cloudy the visibility was not that bad so we went to the park and the half pipe. Surprisingly, even though it is already May the half pipe was so big and well groomed. I saw someone get chucked from the pipe for going way too big! When riding slushy snow in the Spring, everyone should be conscious of the speed that each board can generate. Do not trust other people.I hope it will be sunny soon!At the heart house, there are three paper dolls hanging praying for rain/snow.They don’t work too well. Aki’s fishing report! Helloooo, it’s Aki!We went fishing yesterday! It was soooooo much fun!!! I was super excited about catching a fish! I almost fell from the boat! (If I had fallen into the sea, it would be very cold!) I really thought that the fun thing about fishing was my heart pounding while you waiting for the fish to bite on my line.I loved fishing!I really want to go fishing again and I will catch a bigger-fish next time!Hey Yuho, when's our next time fishing? by Tadashi pretending to be Aki.byアッ君じゃなくてタダシでした〜。 I went shooting with Jun, Koni, and Kosuke. It happens too often lately that we have to wait for the sun to peek out. We managed to shot these photos when the sky was clear. There was blue sky for just a moment. コニのbs540 Koni’s back side 540. That’s what we did today! We went shooting for the first time in a few days!We were expecting some good snow for we had a bit of snow yesterday, but the mountain and the sky looked threatening...We waited for the sun for a while but it was still so foggy for way too long. The village was sunny though...too bad.On such occasions, we go to the groomed slopes of Blackcomb... It’s too foggy to tell if I was going forward or not. Shota changed his hair style to a mohawk. Yeah! 楽しみだ〜〜[:イヒヒ:] We are now planning to go snowmobile camping with sleeping bags! Can’t wait! Day off. [:ひやひや:]Hello, it’s Keiji. We had some hard days lately and everybody is taking a day off today. The snow at the base of the mountain is melting fast, so shooting with our sleds is getting harder because the dirt road ride is getting long. I feel sorry for riding our sleds in those conditions. These are some photos from shooting with Tadashi two days ago.We woke up early but the weather wasn’t good, so we went back home once and waited. We kept checking on the conditions and skateboarded while we waited. In the afternoon, the weather was getting nice so we went shooting. There was still a threat of avalanches but we could shoot okay. 。。It was about time to leave (7pm) when Tadashi’s sled stopped suddenly. We were like “What the hell! That’s so sudden!” but we just had try and get back home for it was getting dark. You do not want to be in the backcountry overnight! On the way back, we had such a hard time like...We both fell because we couldn’t climb up the slope, and the rope that connected our sleds broke off and the bumper flied off right at me...While all of this was going on, darkness arrived and Tadashi made a bonfire...etcWe had to tow the sled on the dirt road so Tadashi’s sled got very dirty. Finally we got to the parking lot but putting the engine-stopped sled into the truck was like pushing a dead elephant up the stairs. We needed one more man-power...Our muscle were so strained and we were so muddy. We started getting a natural high... [:たらーっ:]After an hour or so of using our brains and power we were able to put the sled on the car at last!High five!! We were so happy at that moment. IF you are bored you can play DEAL or No Deal... CHECK OUT MORE AT: WWW.HEARTFILMS.COM.

Our Objective: To hold a series of events that brings British freestyle snowsports back to its roots.

The series will be a real chance to showcase present and future talent, using the best artificial freestyle parks in the UK and Europe. The series will bring together some of the most progressive freestyle scenes in the UK, and give them the chance to ride together as a community.

Why do we need Snowflex championships?

Snowflex® is the world’s premier synthetic snowsports surface in terms of realism. This has meant that rider progression is truly dramatic and this can be clearly seen in the quality of UK competitors now competing around Europe and the USA. The realism that Snowflex brings is also evident in commercial terms as the preferred surface of choice for refurbishments of old style slopes and the opening of new slopes worldwide. These new urban freestyle arenas are producing a huge number of Britain’s most talented riders in a very short space of time.
